What is Silent Gear Metalworks?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.47 guide

Silent Gear Metalworks is in this pack as version 1.21.1-1.2.1. It's installed from the start, so you don't need to add anything to try it out.[1]

Unverified No mod description, guidebook or other documentation was available when this guide was written. That means we can't yet confirm what Silent Gear Metalworks adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat any claims you see elsewhere about its features as unconfirmed for this pack.

How do you get started with Silent Gear Metalworks?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.5.1 guide

Silent Gear Metalworks connects Silent Gear to the foundry from Productive Metalworks. The mod's own tooltip gives the big rule: all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. So your plan starts with casts and molten metal.[2]

Your steps, in order

  1. Get a foundry from Productive Metalworks running. Tool parts are cast there, so this is the machine the rest of the mod builds on.[2]
  2. Make the casts for the gear you want. Each cast has its own casting recipe, and you can see some of them in the Casts section below. Examples are the Axe Cast, the Hammer Cast and the Helmet Cast. The same pattern covers bows, crossbows, daggers, hoes, excavators, fishing rods, arrows, bracelets and the other armor pieces.[3]
  3. Melt down the mod's metals. Crimson iron and azure silver can be melted from ores, raw materials, ingots, nuggets, dusts and storage blocks.[3]
  4. Alloy your way up. Blaze gold, crimson steel and azure electrum each have their own alloying recipe, and tyrian steel and uru metal come after them in that chain.[3]

Casts

Casting is how you make the molds for tool and armor parts. Here are the in-pack recipes for the axe, hammer and helmet casts.[3]

Metals and alloys

The pack has melting recipes for each of the mod's metals, so you can start with whatever form you find. A good alloy to try early is blaze gold, which gives you Molten Blaze Gold.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 201× any molten blaze
  • 91× any molten gold

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_blaze_gold

Crimson steel is the next alloy to look at, and it makes Molten Crimson Steel.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 201× any molten blaze
  • 811× any molten crimson iron
  • 101× any molten magma cream

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_crimson_steel

Save Molten Tyrian Steel and Molten Uru Metal for later. The uru metal alloy takes molten tyrian steel among its inputs, along with several other ingredients.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 181× any meat
  • 101× any molten ancient debri
  • 91× any molten azure electrum
  • 181× any molten heavy core
  • 101× any molten shulker shell
  • 91× any molten tyrian steel

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_uru_metal

Uru metal basics

Once you have molten uru metal, you can cast it into an ingot with an Ingot Cast, or into a nugget with a Nugget Cast. The block casting recipe needs only the molten metal.[3]

How does Silent Gear Metalworks work?

5 parts

Silent Gear Metalworks doesn't bring its own machines. It adds metals and molten fluids that run through Productive Metalworks recipe types: melting, alloying and casting. Everything below is what the pack's recipe data and the mod's own text confirm.[4][5]

Casting is required for tool parts

The mod's blueprint tooltip says all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. So if you're making Silent Gear parts out of these metals, plan to set up that foundry first.[4]

Melting

Melting turns solid items into molten fluids. The pack has melting recipes for ingots, nuggets and dusts of the mod's metals. These cover Azure Electrum, Azure Silver, Blaze Gold, Crimson Iron, Crimson Steel and Tyrian Steel. Uru Metal is melted from its ingots, nuggets and storage blocks. Each recipe takes any item from the matching shared tag, so any mod's version of that ingot, nugget or dust works.[5]

The fluids you get are Molten Azure Electrum, Molten Azure Silver, Molten Blaze Gold, Molten Crimson Iron, Molten Crimson Steel, Molten Tyrian Steel and Molten Uru Metal.[5]

Item Melting (productivemetalworks)

  • any uru metal ingot

Recipe id: minecraft:melting/uru_metal_ingot

Any ingot in the Uru Metal tag melts into Molten Uru Metal.

Alloying

Several of the molten metals aren't melted from an item. You make them by combining other molten fluids with the fluid alloying recipe type. The alloys form a chain. Molten Azure Electrum and Molten Crimson Steel are both made this way, and both feed into Molten Tyrian Steel. Tyrian Steel then feeds into Molten Uru Metal, the final step. The Uru Metal recipe also asks for something from the meat tag, so it isn't only fluids.[5]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 361× any molten azure silver
  • 101× any molten ender
  • 181× any molten gold

  • 811× any molten crimson iron
  • 101× any molten magma cream

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_crimson_steel

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 101× any molten ancient debri
  • 91× any molten azure electrum
  • 91× any molten crimson steel
  • 101× any molten shulker shell

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_tyrian_steel

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 181× any meat
  • 101× any molten ancient debri
  • 91× any molten azure electrum
  • 181× any molten heavy core
  • 101× any molten shulker shell
  • 91× any molten tyrian steel

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_uru_metal

The recipes above match the pack's exact ingredients. Because the inputs are fluid tags, any fluid in the matching tag counts, not just the one from this mod.[5]

Casting Uru Metal

Casting turns molten Uru Metal back into solid items. Ingots and nuggets use an item casting recipe that needs a cast: an Ingot Cast for an ingot and a Nugget Cast for a nugget. A storage block uses a block casting recipe that lists only the molten fluid, with no cast item.[5]

Converting between forms

Once you have solid Uru Metal, you can convert between its forms by hand with shapeless crafting recipes. You can turn an Uru Metal Ingot into a Uru Metal Nugget or into an Uru Metal Block, and each can be turned back into an ingot.[5]

Tip: Molten Uru Metal can be cast into ingots, nuggets and blocks, and each of those melts back down into it. That means nothing is lost if you cast the wrong form.[5]

Unverified The sources don't describe the foundry's multiblock layout, fuel or power needs, fluid amounts per ingot, alloy ratios, melting times, or how to automate pipes and item transfer. Check the Productive Metalworks pages or test in-game before relying on any of these.

How do you progress through Silent Gear Metalworks?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.5.1 guide

The sources I have for Silent Gear Metalworks are its in-pack recipes, so this page follows the metal chain those recipes build. The stage names below are my own grouping, not official tier names from the mod.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest that involves this mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it. Treat the order below as a reading of the recipes, not an official ladder.

Base metals

You start by melting Molten Azure Silver and Molten Crimson Iron. Both can be melted from ores, raw materials, raw storage blocks, ingots, nuggets, dusts and storage blocks. Here are the ore recipes for each:[3]

Item Melting (productivemetalworks)

  • 2× any azure silver ore

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/ores/azure_silver

Item Melting (productivemetalworks)

  • 2× any crimson iron ore

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/ores/crimson_iron

First alloys

Next come the first alloys, made in fluid alloying recipes: Molten Blaze Gold, Molten Azure Electrum and Molten Crimson Steel. Azure Electrum builds on the Azure Silver branch and Crimson Steel on the Crimson Iron branch. The exact recipes are below.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 201× any molten blaze
  • 91× any molten gold

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_blaze_gold

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 361× any molten azure silver
  • 101× any molten ender
  • 181× any molten gold

  • 201× any molten blaze
  • 811× any molten crimson iron
  • 101× any molten magma cream

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_crimson_steel

Tyrian Steel

Molten Tyrian Steel sits above the earlier alloys. Its recipe uses both Azure Electrum and Crimson Steel, so you need both branches running before you can make it.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 101× any molten ancient debri
  • 91× any molten azure electrum
  • 91× any molten crimson steel
  • 101× any molten shulker shell

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_tyrian_steel

Uru Metal

Molten Uru Metal is the top of the alloy chain. Its recipe takes Molten Tyrian Steel as an input, along with Molten Azure Electrum and several other ingredients, so you have to get through the Tyrian Steel stage first.[3]

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

  • 181× any meat
  • 101× any molten ancient debri
  • 91× any molten azure electrum
  • 181× any molten heavy core
  • 101× any molten shulker shell
  • 91× any molten tyrian steel

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_uru_metal

Once you have the molten metal, you can cast it into an Uru Metal Ingot, an Uru Metal Nugget or an Uru Metal Block. You can also melt any of those back down.[3]

Ingots, nuggets and blocks also convert between each other in the crafting grid with shapeless recipes.[3]

Casts for Silent Gear parts

The mod also adds a big set of casts for Silent Gear parts, such as the Sword Cast, Pickaxe Cast and Chestplate Cast. Each one has its own casting recipe. Here is the Sword Cast as an example:[3]

How does Silent Gear Metalworks work with other mods?

4 parts

Silent Gear Metalworks is basically a bridge between Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks. Every recipe that links it to another mod in this pack is a casting recipe. The mod's casts are made from Silent Gear parts, and the casts then turn back into those parts.[5]

Making casts from Silent Gear parts

To make a cast, you run a Silent Gear part through a Productive Metalworks item casting recipe together with any fluid from the molten steel tag. A Sword Blade gives you a Sword Cast, and the same pattern covers the other tool, armor, and curio parts.[5]

Item Casting (productivemetalworks)

Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/sword_cast

Sword Blade plus molten steel makes the Sword Cast.

Casts exist for many Silent Gear parts, including Pickaxe Head, Bow Limbs, Chestplate Plates, Ring Shank and Tool Rod. Each one gets a matching cast, such as Pickaxe Cast or Tool Rod Cast.[5]

Casting parts back out of the casts

The mod adds its own recipe type for the return trip. You put a cast in and get the Silent Gear part out. For example, the Sword Cast gives you a Sword Blade.[5]

The Sword Cast gives back the Silent Gear part.

This works the same way for the rest of the casts, from Axe Cast to Trident Cast and Tip Cast. The last one gives you the Tip Upgrade upgrade.[5]

Uru metal and Productive Metalworks casts

The mod also adds Uru metal. Productive Metalworks casts turn any fluid in the molten Uru metal tag into Uru Metal Ingot with an Ingot Cast, or into Uru Metal Nugget with a Nugget Cast.[5]

Uru parts and the pack's KubeJS item

A group of casting recipes uses kubejs:silent_unobtainium_plate, an item from the pack's KubeJS namespace, together with molten Uru metal. Each one outputs a Uru Metal Ingot and a Silent Gear part, such as Pickaxe Head or Katana Blade.[5]

Mace Core shows up only in this Uru group among the recipes I have. No matching cast for it appears in these recipes.[5]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and there is no in-jar guidebook to check, so any other cross-mod uses, such as exact fluid amounts or whether casts are used up, are unconfirmed.
