What is Silent Gear Metalworks?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.47 guide

Silent Gear Metalworks is in this pack as version 1.21.1-1.2.1. It's installed from the start, so you don't need to add anything to try it out.[1]

Unverified No mod description, guidebook or other documentation was available when this guide was written. That means we can't yet confirm what Silent Gear Metalworks adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat any claims you see elsewhere about its features as unconfirmed for this pack.

How do you get started with Silent Gear Metalworks?

2 parts

Silent Gear Metalworks adds molten fluids and Uru Metal items to this pack. The recipes that make them are all Productive Metalworks recipes, so getting started is really about learning to melt, alloy and cast.[2]

Tip: All metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. If you want those parts, plan for a foundry early.[3]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Melt your raw materials. The pack has melting recipes that turn ores, gems, dusts, ingots and nuggets into molten fluids, for example Molten Crimson Iron and Molten Azure Silver. Start here, because the later steps work with these fluids.[2]
  2. Melt gems too. Ruby, sapphire and topaz shards and blocks all have melting recipes that give Molten Ruby, Molten Sapphire and Molten Topaz.[2]
  3. Alloy the advanced metals. The pack has alloying recipes for Molten Azure Electrum, Molten Blaze Gold, Molten Crimson Steel and Molten Tyrian Steel.[2]
  4. Make Molten Uru Metal. It has its own alloying recipe, shown below, and melting an Uru Metal ingot or nugget also gives it.[2]
  5. Cast Uru Metal into ingots, nuggets or blocks with the casting recipes below.[2]

          Converting between forms

Once you have Uru Metal, you can switch between its forms with shapeless crafting recipes. The ones below cover nugget to ingot and ingot to block. There are matching recipes for ingot to nugget and block to ingot.[2]

How does Silent Gear Metalworks work?

          5 parts

Silent Gear Metalworks doesn't bring its own machines. It connects Silent Gear's metals and gems to the foundry from Productive Metalworks. The recipes that make its items all use Productive Metalworks recipe types, so the workflow is: melt, optionally alloy, then cast.[2][3]

Tip: The blueprint tooltip says that all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. Plan on setting one up before you try to make Silent Gear tool parts from these materials.[3]

          Melting

Gems each melt into a molten fluid of their own, such as Molten Alexandrite, Molten Aquamarine, Molten Black Diamond and Molten Rose Quartz. Ammolite, carnelian, citrine, garnet, heliodor, iolite, kyanite, moldavite, opal, pearl and peridot work the same way.[2]

Several metals melt from their dusts, going by the recipe ids: Molten Azure Silver, Molten Azure Electrum, Molten Blaze Gold, Molten Crimson Iron, Molten Crimson Steel and Molten Tyrian Steel. Here is one example.[2]

            Alloying

Some molten metals can also be made by combining fluids with the fluid alloying recipe type. The sources show alloying for Molten Azure Electrum, Molten Blaze Gold, Molten Crimson Steel, Molten Tyrian Steel and Molten Uru Metal. Recipes are shown below.[2]

                  Casting

Uru Metal has casting recipes for its ingot, nugget and storage block. The ingot and nugget use item casting, and the storage block uses block casting. That gives you Uru Metal Ingot, Uru Metal Nugget and Uru Metal Block from the molten fluid.[2]

                        Converting between forms

You can also switch between Uru Metal forms in a normal crafting grid. There are shapeless recipes for ingot to block, block to ingot, nugget to ingot and ingot to nugget.[2]

                        A note on bees

The mod's text mentions an Uru Metal bee from Productive Bees. Its description says you get it by looking up the crafting recipe for its spawn egg. The same text also describes a Silent Gear trait that makes bee stings harmless.[3]

How do you progress through Silent Gear Metalworks?

                        2 parts

The recipes this pack gives the mod follow a simple flow: melt a material into a molten fluid, alloy some of those fluids together, then cast the result into a finished item. You can use that as a rough order of work.[2]

These are the in-pack alloying recipes, so the site shows you the exact inputs.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest that involves this mod, so the pack's quest book does not tell you an order to work through these materials in.

How does Silent Gear Metalworks work with other mods?

                                    2 parts

Silent Gear Metalworks connects Silent Gear parts with the item casting recipe type from Productive Metalworks. In this pack, the Uru casting recipes also take an item added by the pack's own scripts as their input.[2]

Casting Silent Gear parts with Uru

The pack changed the Uru casting recipes for most Silent Gear parts so they use Silent Unobtainium Plate as the input. This covers parts like Pickaxe Head, Sword Blade, Helmet Plates and Bow Limbs. Each of these recipes is marked as changed by the pack. The plate goes in, and the result is Uru Metal Ingot together with the part.[2]

The same change applies across the whole range: tool heads such as Axe Head and Excavator Head, armor plates such as Chestplate Plates and Boot Plates, and jewelry parts such as Ring Shank and Necklace Chain.[2]

The spearhead is a special case

The mod's own spearhead recipe is left untouched and still uses Tyrian Steel Ingot as its input. The pack then adds another spearhead recipe that uses the unobtainium plate, so you can cast Spearhead either way.[2]

This spearhead recipe is added by the pack and uses the unobtainium plate.

Tip: If you're not sure which Uru casting recipe applies to a part, check its recipe in the site's viewer. Apart from the spearhead recipes, the Uru casting recipes shown in the sources are pack-changed versions that use the plate.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve Silent Gear Metalworks, so the quest book does not show where this mod fits in the progression.
