What is Laser Bridges & Doors?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.38 guide
Laser Bridges & Doors is a small, decorative redstone mod that gives you futuristic laser bridges, doors and fences. You place a laser source block, give it a redstone signal, and it projects a laser structure outward. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1-neoforge of the mod.[1][2]
How it works
- The laser only forms while the source block is powered by redstone, so a lever, button or pressure plate is enough to open and close a laser door or bridge.[1]
- The length of the laser depends on the redstone signal strength and updates as the signal changes. A weaker signal gives you a shorter bridge.[1]
- You can recolor a laser source by clicking it with a dye in hand, or have a dispenser apply the dye for you.[1]
- There are full block laser sources for more complex redstone contraptions, plus a Laser Fence Source Block variant for laser fences.[1]
The mod is configurable. One option sets the maximum laser length at full power, and all partial lengths are calculated from it. The mod's own default is 15 blocks. Another option lists the blocks that lasers are allowed to cut through and replace.[1]
Unverified The sources don't confirm whether this pack keeps the mod's default maximum laser length or changes it. Test it in game before you plan a long bridge.
Who it's for
If you like building bases with a sci-fi look, secret entrances or redstone-controlled walkways, this mod is for you. Its job is style and redstone fun rather than tech or resource progression.[1]
Unverified The sources don't document a place for this mod in the pack's progression, and no in-pack recipe for the laser source blocks could be confirmed. Check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Laser Bridges & Doors?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors (Laser Bridges & Doors) adds laser sources that make laser platforms and doors when they get a redstone signal. Everything starts with one item, the Laser Source, so that is where you begin.[1]
Step 1: Craft a Laser Source
The pack changed the mod's own Laser Source recipe, and this version makes 2 Laser Sources per craft. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any iron ingot |

The pack changed this recipe, and one craft gives you 2 Laser Sources.
The pack also adds its own recipes that make the Laser Source and the Laser Fence Source directly, so you have a few ways in. This is the one that makes the Laser Fence Source:[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: deimos:deimosgeneratedcrafting1
Pack-added recipe for the Laser Fence Source.
Step 2: Switch between the two source types
You never need to commit to one type. A Laser Source turns into a Laser Fence Source with a single shapeless craft, and the conversion works both ways.[1][3]

Laser Fence Source back to Laser Source.
Step 3: Make full block versions if you need them
The full block sources, Laser Source Block and Laser Fence Source Block, are meant for more complicated redstone contraptions. In this pack you craft the full block from the matching normal source:[1][3]

The Laser Fence Source Block has its own pack-added recipe from the Laser Fence Source, and the two full blocks can be converted into each other with a shapeless craft.[3]
Step 4: Power it and tune it
- Place a source and give it a redstone signal. The laser forms when the source is activated, and its length depends on the signal strength and updates dynamically.[1]
- You can color a source by clicking it with a dye, or by using a dispenser to apply the dye.[1]
- The pack sets max_length to 15. That is the longest laser a fully powered source makes, and shorter signals give partial lengths based on it.[1][4]
- Lasers can replace the blocks listed in blocks_cut_through_by_lasers. In this pack that is air, cave air, void air, short grass, tall grass, fern, large fern and dead bush, so anything else in the way will block the beam.[1][4]
How does Laser Bridges & Doors work?
5 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors is a redstone-driven mod. You place a laser source, power it with a redstone signal, and it projects a laser platform, door or fence. There are no energy, fluid or item inputs to set up for it in the sources here, so everything below is about redstone, length, colour and crafting.[1]
Redstone and length
A laser only forms while its source block is activated by a redstone signal. The length depends on the signal strength and updates dynamically, so a weaker signal gives a shorter laser and a stronger one a longer laser.[1]
The cap comes from max_length. It is the maximum length of a laser from a fully powered source, and every partial length is calculated from that value. This pack sets it to 15.[1][4]
What lasers can pass through
blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser can replace. In this pack it holds air, cave air, void air, short grass, tall grass, fern, large fern and dead bush. Any block not on that list is not replaced by the laser.[1][4]
Source blocks
There are four source blocks: Laser Source, Laser Fence Source, Laser Source Block and Laser Fence Source Block. The mod recommends the full block versions for more complicated redstone contraptions.[1][5]
You can colour a source by clicking it with a dye in hand, or by using a dispenser to apply the dye.[1]
Crafting and converting sources
The pack changed the base Laser Source recipe. It now makes 2 Laser Sources per craft, and it accepts any iron ingot from the iron ingots tag.[3]

A Laser Source and a Laser Fence Source convert into each other. The mod's own recipe names, bridge_to_fence and fence_to_bridge, suggest the Laser Source is the bridge version and the Laser Fence Source is the fence version. The conversion works in both directions.[1][3]

The pack also adds a direct recipe for the Laser Fence Source, so you do not have to craft a Laser Source first.[3]

How do you progress through Laser Bridges & Doors?
3 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors is simple in this pack. The recipes show a short chain of related blocks that you convert between, not a ladder of tiers. Everything starts with the Laser Source.[3]
Step 1: the Laser Source
The pack changed the mod's own Laser Source recipe so that one craft gives you 2 Laser Sources. It also accepts any iron ingot from the iron ingot tag.[3]

The pack also adds its own shaped recipe for the same item.[3]

Step 2: the Laser Fence Source
The Laser Fence Source has its own pack-added shaped recipe, so you can make it directly.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: deimos:deimosgeneratedcrafting1
You can also swap between the two. The mod's own shapeless recipes turn a Laser Source into a Laser Fence Source and back again, and the pack adds a second pair of conversions that do the same job. If you craft the wrong one, you do not lose anything.[3]

Step 3: the full block versions
The pack adds a recipe that upgrades each source into a full block version: the Laser Source Block and the Laser Fence Source Block. Each upgrade starts from the matching plain source.[3]

Which Laser Bridges & Doors config options matter?
2 parts
The mod has only two config options, both in config/laserbridges.json. You can change them in-game or by editing the JSON file directly. Here is what each one does and how this pack sets it.[1]
Maximum laser length
max_length is the longest laser a fully powered laser source block can produce. Shorter lasers are calculated from this value, so changing it rescales every bridge, door and fence. Laser length depends on the redstone signal strength, so a weaker signal gives a shorter laser.[1]
This pack sets it to 15, which is also the mod's default. The pack did not change this value, so a fully powered source reaches 15 blocks.[1][4]
Blocks lasers cut through
blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser can replace instead of being stopped by them. Anything not on the list blocks the laser.[1]
In this pack the list contains these blocks:[4]
- Air, cave air and void air, so lasers pass through empty space in any dimension or cave.[4]
- Short grass and tall grass.[4]
- Fern and large fern.[4]
- Dead bush.[4]
Unverified The sources do not show the mod's default for the cut-through list, so we can't say whether the pack changed it.
What changed in Laser Bridges & Doors between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Laser Bridges & Doors 6, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so you've had it for a long time.[6]
Notable mod releases
- Version 6 (the version in this pack): added full block laser sources.[6][7]
- Version 5.3: added a missing translation for the laser blocks and fixed coloring laser sources on newer game versions.[8]
- Version 5: added laser fences, animations and the ability to dye laser sources.[9]
These notes come from the mod's own changelogs. They only list the changes above, so anything beyond that is not covered here.[7][8][9]
