What is Laser Bridges & Doors?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.38 guide
Laser Bridges & Doors is a small, decorative redstone mod that gives you futuristic laser bridges, doors and fences. You place a laser source block, give it a redstone signal, and it projects a laser structure outward. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1-neoforge of the mod.[1][2]
How it works
- The laser only forms while the source block is powered by redstone, so a lever, button or pressure plate is enough to open and close a laser door or bridge.[1]
- The length of the laser depends on the redstone signal strength and updates as the signal changes. A weaker signal gives you a shorter bridge.[1]
- You can recolor a laser source by clicking it with a dye in hand, or have a dispenser apply the dye for you.[1]
- There are full block laser sources for more complex redstone contraptions, plus a Laser Fence Source Block variant for laser fences.[1]
The mod is configurable. One option sets the maximum laser length at full power, and all partial lengths are calculated from it. The mod's own default is 15 blocks. Another option lists the blocks that lasers are allowed to cut through and replace.[1]
Unverified The sources don't confirm whether this pack keeps the mod's default maximum laser length or changes it. Test it in game before you plan a long bridge.
Who it's for
If you like building bases with a sci-fi look, secret entrances or redstone-controlled walkways, this mod is for you. Its job is style and redstone fun rather than tech or resource progression.[1]
Unverified The sources don't document a place for this mod in the pack's progression, and no in-pack recipe for the laser source blocks could be confirmed. Check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Laser Bridges & Doors?
2 parts
Getting started with this mod takes one craft. Everything runs off the Laser Source, and the pack changed its recipe from the mod's own, so go by the recipe below. One craft gives you 2 Laser Sources.[3]

Lasers need power. A laser source forms its bridges, doors and fences when it is activated by a redstone signal, and the length follows the signal strength and updates dynamically.[1]
Your first steps
- Craft the Laser Source with the recipe above.[3]
- Place it and hit it with a redstone signal. A stronger signal gives a longer laser.[1]
- Optionally, click the source with a dye to colour it. A dispenser can apply the dye too.[1]
- Need the other form? Put a Laser Source in the crafting grid to get a Laser Fence Source. The conversion works both ways, so you can swap back at any time.[1][3]

How far will it reach?
A fully powered source makes a laser up to the length in max_length, which is set to 15 in this pack. Weaker signals give partial lengths calculated from that value.[1][4]
How does Laser Bridges & Doors work?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors is a small, redstone-driven mod. You place a Laser Source, power it with redstone, and it projects a futuristic laser bridge or door. The Laser Fence Source is the fence version of the same source.[1][5]
Powering and length
A source only forms its laser when it receives a redstone signal. The laser's length depends on the signal strength and updates dynamically, so you can lengthen or shorten a bridge by changing the signal feeding the source.[1]
The cap is max_length. It is the length of a laser from a fully powered source, and every shorter length is calculated from it. This pack sets it to 15, which is also the mod's default.[1][4]
What a laser can pass through
The option blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser can replace. In this pack the list is:[1][4]
- Air, including cave air and void air[4]
- Short grass and tall grass[4]
- Fern and large fern[4]
- Dead bush[4]
Colors and contraptions
You can color a laser source by clicking it with a dye in hand, or by having a dispenser apply the dye. The mod's page also suggests the full block laser sources for building more complicated redstone contraptions.[1]
Crafting and converting
The pack changed the Laser Source recipe, and it makes 2 sources per craft.[3]

The pack changed this recipe, and one craft gives 2 Laser Sources.
You can switch between the two source types at any time. Each conversion is a shapeless craft with a single source in the grid, and it works in both directions.[1][3]

How do you progress through Laser Bridges & Doors?
3 parts
Good news: the recipe data for this mod in the pack shows a very short path with no upgrade tiers. Everything starts with the Laser Source, and the Laser Fence Source is reached from it.[3]
Step 1: Craft the Laser Source
The pack changed the recipe for the Laser Source, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The recipe below is the in-pack version.[3]
Crafting Shaped

This recipe is changed by the pack, so it can differ from the mod's default.
Step 2: Switch to the Laser Fence Source
The Laser Fence Source is made by converting a Laser Source with a shapeless recipe, and a shapeless recipe converts it back again. That lets you swap freely depending on whether you want a bridge or a fence.[3]

Quests
Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod, so the pack's quest book does not appear to guide you through it. Check the quest book in-game if you want to confirm that.
Which Laser Bridges & Doors config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The mod has only two config options, both in config/laserbridges.json. You can change them in-game or by editing the JSON file directly. Here is what each one does and how this pack sets it.[1]
Maximum laser length
max_length is the longest laser a fully powered laser source block can produce. Shorter lasers are calculated from this value, so changing it rescales every bridge, door and fence. Laser length depends on the redstone signal strength, so a weaker signal gives a shorter laser.[1]
This pack sets it to 15, which is also the mod's default. The pack did not change this value, so a fully powered source reaches 15 blocks.[1][6]
Blocks lasers cut through
blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser can replace instead of being stopped by them. Anything not on the list blocks the laser.[1]
In this pack the list contains these blocks:[6]
- Air, cave air and void air, so lasers pass through empty space in any dimension or cave.[6]
- Short grass and tall grass.[6]
- Fern and large fern.[6]
- Dead bush.[6]
Unverified The sources do not show the mod's default for the cut-through list, so we can't say whether the pack changed it.
What changed in Laser Bridges & Doors between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2 1.21.1 ships with Laser Bridges & Doors 5.3 (the NeoForge build for 1.21.1). The mod was already in the pack as of FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so you've had it from the start.[7]
Mod changelog highlights
- Version 5 added laser fences, animations, and the ability to dye laser sources.[8]
- Version 5.3 added a missing translation for the laser blocks and fixed the coloring of laser sources on newer game versions. This is the version the pack uses.[7][9]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any changes the pack itself made to it across releases are unverified.
