What is Laser Bridges & Doors?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.38 guide
Laser Bridges & Doors is a small, decorative redstone mod that gives you futuristic laser bridges, doors and fences. You place a laser source block, give it a redstone signal, and it projects a laser structure outward. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1-neoforge of the mod.[1][2]
How it works
- The laser only forms while the source block is powered by redstone, so a lever, button or pressure plate is enough to open and close a laser door or bridge.[1]
- The length of the laser depends on the redstone signal strength and updates as the signal changes. A weaker signal gives you a shorter bridge.[1]
- You can recolor a laser source by clicking it with a dye in hand, or have a dispenser apply the dye for you.[1]
- There are full block laser sources for more complex redstone contraptions, plus a Laser Fence Source Block variant for laser fences.[1]
The mod is configurable. One option sets the maximum laser length at full power, and all partial lengths are calculated from it. The mod's own default is 15 blocks. Another option lists the blocks that lasers are allowed to cut through and replace.[1]
Unverified The sources don't confirm whether this pack keeps the mod's default maximum laser length or changes it. Test it in game before you plan a long bridge.
Who it's for
If you like building bases with a sci-fi look, secret entrances or redstone-controlled walkways, this mod is for you. Its job is style and redstone fun rather than tech or resource progression.[1]
Unverified The sources don't document a place for this mod in the pack's progression, and no in-pack recipe for the laser source blocks could be confirmed. Check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold FTB Skies 2: Aero's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Laser Bridges & Doors?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors adds laser sources that build laser platforms and doors when you power them with redstone. Everything starts from one basic item, so the order below is short and easy to follow.[1]
Step 1: Craft a Laser Source
Your first craft is the Laser Source. It is the building block for every other item in this mod, so make a few before you do anything else.[3][4]
Crafting Shaped

The mod's own recipe gives you two Laser Sources per craft.

The pack also adds its own recipe for the same item, using the same ingredients, and it makes a single one.
Step 2: Get the fence version
The Laser Fence Source is the fence variant of the source. You can craft it from scratch, but you don't need to: you can swap a Laser Source into a Laser Fence Source and back again, so spare sources are never wasted.[1][3]

And turn it back again.
Step 3: Full block sources for contraptions
Once you have the basics, make the full block versions: Laser Source Block and Laser Fence Source Block. The mod describes these as the ones to use for more complicated redstone contraptions. Each is crafted from its matching smaller source, and the two full blocks can be converted into each other too.[1][3][4]

Step 4: Power it and tune it
A laser only forms when its source receives a redstone signal, and its length follows the signal strength, updating as the signal changes. You can also color a source by clicking it with a dye, or by using a dispenser to apply the dye.[1]
In this pack, max_length is set to 15. That is the length of a laser from a fully powered source, and weaker signals give shorter lengths calculated from it.[1][5]
How does Laser Bridges & Doors work?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors is a redstone-driven mod. You place a laser source, give it a redstone signal, and it projects a futuristic bridge, door or fence. The sources here don't show any other power, fluid or item handling, so everything below is about redstone, length and the source blocks.[1]
Redstone and beam length
A laser only forms while its source is activated by a redstone signal. The beam's length depends on the strength of that signal and updates dynamically, so you can lengthen or shorten a bridge just by changing the signal feeding the source.[1]
The cap is set by max_length. It is the length of a beam from a fully powered source, and every shorter length is calculated from that value. This pack sets it to 15.[1][5]
What a laser can replace
blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser is allowed to replace. In this pack it holds air, cave air, void air, short grass, tall grass, fern, large fern and dead bush. Anything not on that list is not replaced, so plan your bridge path around solid blocks.[1][5]
The source blocks
There are four source blocks: Laser Source, Laser Fence Source, and their full block versions Laser Source Block and Laser Fence Source Block. The full block versions are the ones to use for more complicated redstone contraptions.[1][4]
You can color a source by clicking on it with a dye in hand, or by having a dispenser apply the dye.[1]
Crafting and converting
The mod's own recipe for the Laser Source is below. It makes 2 sources per craft.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: laserbridges:laser_source_block
The mod's own recipe: one craft gives you 2 Laser Sources.
The pack also adds its own crafting recipes for these blocks, so you have more than one way to get a source.[3]
You can swap a Laser Source for a Laser Fence Source with a single shapeless craft, and the conversion works both ways. That means you never need to commit to one type when you craft.[1][3]

The full block versions come from the normal sources. Crafting with a Laser Source gives the Laser Source Block, and crafting with a Laser Fence Source gives the Laser Fence Source Block. Both of these recipes are added by this pack.[3]

How do you progress through Laser Bridges & Doors?
3 parts
There is no ladder of upgrades with this mod in the pack. The recipes show four items in two pairs: a bridge source and a fence source, each as a small block and as a full block. Everything starts from the small blocks, and the full blocks are made from them.[3]
Step 1: Laser Source and Laser Fence Source
The Laser Source is the entry point for the bridge side. The mod's own recipe, shown below, makes 2 of them per craft.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: laserbridges:laser_source_block
The mod's own recipe: one craft gives 2 Laser Sources.
The pack also adds its own Laser Source recipe, and the recipe dump lists it with a single output. Both recipes appear in the dump.[3]
Crafting Shaped

Added by the pack, with a single Laser Source as output.
The Laser Fence Source has its own pack-added recipe, which takes the same three ingredients as the Laser Source recipes.[3]

Switching between bridge and fence
You never have to commit to one type. A single Laser Source converts into a Laser Fence Source and back again, so a wrong craft is easy to fix. The mod has these conversions built in, and the pack adds matching ones.[3]

Step 2: the full blocks
The Laser Source Block and Laser Fence Source Block are made from the small block of the matching type. The recipe blocks below show exactly what goes in.[3]

Those pack-added recipes are registered under the Deimos namespace, while the base source and the bridge and fence conversions also exist as recipes from Laser Bridges & Doors itself.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show where, or whether, the pack's quest book places Laser Bridges & Doors in its progression, so no quest chapter or ordering is given for this mod.
Which Laser Bridges & Doors config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The mod has only two config options, both in config/laserbridges.json. You can change them in-game or by editing the JSON file directly. Here is what each one does and how this pack sets it.[1]
Maximum laser length
max_length is the longest laser a fully powered laser source block can produce. Shorter lasers are calculated from this value, so changing it rescales every bridge, door and fence. Laser length depends on the redstone signal strength, so a weaker signal gives a shorter laser.[1]
This pack sets it to 15, which is also the mod's default. The pack did not change this value, so a fully powered source reaches 15 blocks.[1][6]
Blocks lasers cut through
blocks_cut_through_by_lasers is the list of blocks a laser can replace instead of being stopped by them. Anything not on the list blocks the laser.[1]
In this pack the list contains these blocks:[6]
- Air, cave air and void air, so lasers pass through empty space in any dimension or cave.[6]
- Short grass and tall grass.[6]
- Fern and large fern.[6]
- Dead bush.[6]
Unverified The sources do not show the mod's default for the cut-through list, so we can't say whether the pack changed it.
What changed in Laser Bridges & Doors between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Laser Bridges & Doors 6, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[7]
Mod changelog highlights
- Version 6 (the version in this pack): added full block laser sources.[7][8]
- Version 5.3: added a missing translation for the laser blocks and fixed coloring of laser sources on newer versions.[9]
If you are coming from an older pack release, the full block laser sources from version 6 are the main addition to look for.[7][8]
