What is Apothic-Enchanting?
1 part
Apothic Enchanting is the enchanting module of Apotheosis, and it overhauls Minecraft's enchanting system. It also adds new enchantments and utilities. This pack includes version 1.6.0.[1][2]
The big change is Enchanting Stats, which come from bookshelves and other blocks around the table. Eterna is enchanting strength and raises the level cost. Quanta is randomness. Arcana increases the number of enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common. The Enchanting Table's max level goes up to 100. Stats only count from 32 valid bookshelf locations around the table, so placement matters.[1]
The mod also adds tools. The Tome of Scrapping pulls half of an item's enchantments and destroys the item. The Tome of Superior Scrapping pulls all of them but still destroys the item. The Tome of Extraction pulls all of them and leaves the item intact. The Enchantment Library stores your enchanted books in one place, so you don't need chests full of them.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book covers this mod in the "gearing_up" chapter, which has 90 quests. Everything hangs off the a quest in "?" quest, which asks for the vanilla enchanting table. Five quests come directly after it:[3]
- a quest in "?", which asks for the Enchantment Library.[3]
- a quest in "?", which accepts any of the scrapping and extraction tomes.[3]
- a quest in "?", which asks for the Beeshelf, Melonshelf and Stoneshelf.[3]
- a quest in "?", which asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[3]
- a quest in "?", which asks for the Hellshelf and Seashelf. This starts the main shelf progression.[3]
After the Hellshelf quest, the shelf line continues like this:[3]
- a quest in "?" comes next, asking for the Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf.[3]
- Three quests follow it: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[3]
- a quest in "?" comes after the Blazing Hellshelf quest.[3]
- a quest in "?" follows the Deepshelf quest, then a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[3]
- The line ends with a quest in "?", which also asks for the Enchanting Table of the Raven, and a quest in "?". Both come after the Draconic Endshelf quest.[3]
The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path. Four of the chapter's 90 quests are not covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3]
How do you get started with Apothic-Enchanting?
5 parts
Welcome to the enchanting side of the pack! In the quest book, Apothic Enchanting lives in the gearing_up chapter. Everything starts from the vanilla enchanting table quest a quest in "?", and the other enchanting quests branch straight off it.[3]
The mod replaces set-and-forget enchanting with three main stats: Eterna (enchanting strength, which raises the level cost), Quanta (how much randomness is involved) and Arcana (more enchantments, and rare ones become more common). Bookshelves provide these stats, and the table's max level goes up to 100. That is why the first things you make are shelves.[1]
Start with the table
Make a normal enchanting table first, since the quest book asks for that. The Apothic Enchanting Table is only a cosmetic variant of it, so you can skip it for now. Its recipe is changed by the pack, so use the one below if you want it.[3][4][5]

Place your first shelves
The mod says there are 32 valid bookshelf spots: the ring around the table (corners included) on the table's level, plus the same ring one level up. There must be an air block between the table and each shelf. Stat blocks like candles or skulls need to sit in those spots too.[1]
The quest book's first shelf quest a quest in "?" asks for the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf. Here is the Stoneshelf recipe.[3][4]

There is also a quest for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability, a quest in "?", which follows the enchanting table quest as well.[3]
Hellshelf and Seashelf
Next the book points you to a quest in "?", which asks for the Hellshelf and the Seashelf.[3]

Infuse them
After that comes a quest in "?", asking for the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf. Each is made by an infusion recipe from its plain shelf. The mod's advancements call this Infusion Enchanting.[3][4][5]

The infused shelves unlock the book's later shelf quests, such as a quest in "?", then a quest in "?", and eventually the Endshelf line.[3]
Optional: scrap tomes and the library
The a quest in "?" quest accepts any of Tome of Scrapping, Tome of Superior Scrapping or Tome of Extraction.[3]

The Enchantment Library has its own quest, a quest in "?", also right after the enchanting table.[3]

How does Apothic-Enchanting work?
8 parts
Apothic Enchanting has no machines, power or fluids that the sources describe. Its mechanics are about the enchanting table, the blocks around it, and a handful of storage and crafting helpers. Here is how they fit together.[1]
Enchanting stats
Bookshelves and similar blocks give the Enchanting Table stats, and the stats change how it behaves. The table's max level is raised to 100, and the max levels of most enchantments are raised automatically too.[1]
- Eterna is enchanting strength, and it increases the level cost.[1]
- Quanta is randomness, and it changes how much RNG is involved.[1]
- Arcana is mystical quality. It increases the number of enchantments you get and makes rare enchantments more common.[1]
You can see the primary stats directly in the Enchanting Table's GUI. There are also secondary stats: Enchanting Clues change how many enchantments are shown when you hover a slot, and Quantic Stability makes Quanta only beneficial. Allowing Treasure lets treasure enchantments like Mending show up (curses count as treasure too), and Enchantment Filters let you blacklist enchantments from the pool.[1]
Bookshelf placement
There are 32 valid bookshelf locations: the ring around the table (corners included) on the table's own y-level, and the same ring one level above. An air block must sit between the table and the shelf for it to count. Other stat blocks such as skulls or candles also have to sit in one of those locations.[1]
Stat blocks show their stats in the item tooltip, but some provide stats dynamically, so the tooltip isn't always exact. Candles are the example: you can stack up to 4 in one block space, and stacking them gives more Arcana.[1]
Max Eterna and the step-ladder
Most blocks declare a max Eterna, the cap that block can contribute up to before its Eterna bonus is discarded. The mod counts the lowest-max blocks first, so you don't need to remove your low-max shelves to climb higher.[1]
The mod's own example: 15 bookshelves (max 30) give 30 Eterna. Another bookshelf keeps you at 30, but adding a Hellshelf (max 45) lifts it to 33. Blocks with no specific stats that would normally provide enchanting power give their usual Eterna with a max of 30.[1]
Stats can be changed per block by datapack, and the mod has an API so other mods can supply dynamic stats. This pack's own datapack changes to stats aren't in the sources, so check tooltips in game for real values.[1]
Shelf upgrades
Many shelves are crafted by upgrading another shelf. The pack's quest book isn't covered by these sources, so the recipes below are the reliable guide.[4]
- Hellshelf of Sight upgrades to Hellshelf of Masterful Sight. The pack changed this recipe.[4]
- Endshelf upgrades to Draconic Endshelf. Making the Endshelf starts with Infused Dragon's Breath.[4][5]
- Infused Hellshelf upgrades to Blazing Hellshelf.[4]
- Dormant Deepshelf becomes Deepshelf through an infusion recipe.[4]

Infusion recipes
Some items come from a separate recipe type called infusion. These recipes turn one item into another, such as dragon's breath into Infused Dragon's Breath. Flimsy Ender Lead turns into Ender Lead the same way, and several shelves such as the Seashelf and Hellshelf have infusion recipes too. An advancement describes getting an Infused Hellshelf through Infusion Enchanting.[4][5]

Unverified How you actually trigger an infusion in game (what you stand at, what you hold, and any cost) is not described in the available sources.
Tomes
Tomes act like books when enchanting but only accept enchantments for one kind of item. There are nine in total: helmets, chestplates, leggings, boots, swords, bows, pickaxes, fishing poles, and one that takes enchantments that fit none of the others. Examples are Tome of Boots, Tome of the Archers and Tome of the Others.[1][4]
The scrapping tomes remove enchantments from an item. The basic Tome of Scrapping pulls half of the enchantments and destroys the item. The Tome of Superior Scrapping pulls all of them but still destroys the item. The Tome of Extraction pulls all of them and leaves the item intact. The scrapping tomes themselves appear as ingredients in infusion recipes in the pack.[1][4]
Table variants
The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, and the pack changed its recipe. The Enchanting Table of the Raven lets you manually customize the core enchanting stats, and it is crafted from the Apothic Enchanting Table.[4][5]

Experience and storage
Experience costs are normalized for both the Enchanting Table and the Anvil. Only the true amount of experience is deducted, instead of whole levels from your current level, so you don't need to micromanage your XP.[1]
The Enchantment Library is the mod's storage solution for enchantments, so you can skip chests full of books. It upgrades into the Library of Alexandria through a keep-NBT infusion recipe, which is meant to preserve the stored data. The sources don't show how the libraries handle automation, such as hoppers or pipes, so test that before building around it.[1][4]

How do you progress through Apothic-Enchanting?
9 parts
In this pack, the enchanting shelves follow a clear ladder in the quest book's "gearing_up" chapter. Everything starts from the vanilla enchanting table quest a quest in "?", and from there the shelf quests branch out and climb tier by tier.[3]
Quests right after the enchanting table
Six quests unlock straight after the enchanting table quest. Most are side branches, and one is the start of the main shelf ladder.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Enchantment Library.[3]
- a quest in "?" accepts any one of Tome of Scrapping, Tome of Superior Scrapping or Tome of Extraction.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[3]
- a quest in "?" is a checkmark plus one of a redstone block, a lapis block or glowstone.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Hellshelf and the Seashelf. This is the start of the main ladder.[3]
The tome upgrade line
The Tome of Extraction quest covers three tomes that upgrade by infusion. Infusing a Tome of Scrapping gives 4 Tome of Superior Scrapping, and infusing one of those gives 4 Tome of Extraction. The scrap tome itself is crafted in batches of 8.[3][4]

How does Apothic-Enchanting work with other mods?
3 parts
Apothic Enchanting is the enchanting module of Apotheosis, so most of its links in this pack run through Apotheosis items. A few recipes also pull in items from other mods. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes and the quest book.[1][4]
Apotheosis
The Enchanting Table of the Raven ties into Apotheosis through the God-Fused Pearl. This is the mod's own recipe, not one the pack changed.[4]

The quest book follows the same path. After the Draconic Endshelf quest comes the God-Fused Pearl quest a quest in "?", which asks for the pearl and the Enchanting Table of the Raven together. The Library of Alexandria quest a quest in "?" also follows the Draconic Endshelf quest.[3]
Going the other way, Infused Dragon's Breath and Warden Tendril from this mod are ingredients in Apotheosis recipes. The pack changed each of the recipes below, so don't expect the standard mod versions.[4]
- Thundering Spawner Upgrade Rune uses Infused Dragon's Breath. The pack changed this recipe.[4]
- The tiered pinnacle recipe for Gate Pearl also uses items from this mod. The pack changed this recipe too, and it is shown below.[4]
- Mountaineer's Spawner Upgrade Rune uses Warden Tendril. The pack changed this recipe as well.[4]

Dimensional Memory Fragment
The pack adds its own pressure chamber recipe for the Dimensional Memory Fragment, and the Library of Alexandria is part of it. Items from other mods, such as Grains of Prescience and Dimensional Crystal Matrix, appear in the recipe shown below.[4]

Quest book neighbours
The shelf quests sit in the gearing_up chapter. They start from the vanilla Enchanting Table quest a quest in "?", and the Enchantment Library quest a quest in "?" follows it directly. The Gem Dust quest a quest in "?" asks for Gem Dust, an Apotheosis item.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Apothic-Enchanting?
3 parts
All of this mod's quests sit in one chapter of the pack's quest book: "gearing_up". It is a big chapter (90 quests) shared with other mods, but the enchanting shelves form their own branch. Each quest is a hand-in of items, so you only need to have the item in your inventory.[3]
Where the branch starts
Everything hangs off a quest in "?", which asks for a plain Enchanting Table. Four Apothic Enchanting quests unlock straight after it, and you can do them in any order.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Enchantment Library.[3]
- a quest in "?" accepts any one of the Tome of Scrapping, the Tome of Superior Scrapping or the Tome of Extraction.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for three shelves: the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[3]
The shelf ladder
The main line starts with a quest in "?", also unlocked by the enchanting table quest, and climbs from there. Here is the order:[3]
- a quest in "?": hand in the Hellshelf and the Seashelf.[3]
- a quest in "?": hand in the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf.[3]
- Three quests open after the infused shelves: a quest in "?" (the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration), a quest in "?" (the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight) and a quest in "?".[3]
- a quest in "?" wants one of the Blazing Hellshelf or the Glowing Hellshelf, plus one of the Crystalline Seashelf or the Heart-Forged Seashelf.[3]
- a quest in "?" (after the Blazing Hellshelf quest): hand in the Deepshelf plus one of the Echoing Deepshelf, Echoing Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Deepshelf or Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures.[3]
- a quest in "?": hand in the Infused Dragon's Breath.[3]
- a quest in "?": hand in the Endshelf.[3]
- a quest in "?": hand in the Draconic Endshelf and the Pearlescent Endshelf.[3]
The endgame of the branch
Two quests unlock after the Draconic Endshelf. a quest in "?" asks for the Library of Alexandria. a quest in "?" asks for the God-Fused Pearl and the Enchanting Table of the Raven. These are the last two quests on this branch.[3]
What changed in Apothic-Enchanting between versions?
FTB Skies 2 1.21.1 ships Apothic-Enchanting 1.6.0, using the file ApothicEnchanting-1.21.1-1.6.0.jar. The pack's mod list says the mod was first included in FTB Skies 2 1.20.0 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[2]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any specific changes for this mod. No pack changelog entries mention it, and the mod's 1.6.0 changelog wasn't available in readable form, so I can't list what changed between releases.
