What is Squat Grow?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Squat Grow is a small, fun utility mod: instead of reaching for bone meal, you crouch (squat, or twerk if you prefer) next to a plant and it grows. The project describes the effect as making your plants grow twice as fast. It works on crops, trees and anything else that's growable.[1]
This pack includes version 21.1.4+mc1.21.1 of the NeoForge build.[2]
How you use it
There's nothing to craft and nothing to set up. Stand near the plant and tap your sneak key repeatedly until it has grown as far as you want.[1]
What you can configure
- Effect range, up to 16 blocks.[1]
- Effect chance.[1]
- A whitelist or blacklist of the blocks that can be affected. You can list plants by registry name or by tag.[1]
- OPMode: you only hold shift and every valid block in range is affected. The author says this started as an accident and was later turned into a config option.[1]
Who it's for
It suits anyone who wants a hands-on, no-cost way to speed up farming, whether that's a few crops, a sapling or a whole patch within range. The OPMode option can speed things up a lot, so check your settings before you rely on it.[1]
Unverified The sources I was given don't show this mod's values in the pack's config (range, chance, lists, OPMode), so I can't say whether the pack changes any defaults. They also don't show any quests involving the mod, or a place for it on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Squat Grow?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Squat Grow is different from most mods you'll meet in this pack: there's nothing to craft before you can use it. You don't build a machine or make a special tool. You just crouch near a plant.[1]
Step by step
- Plant something growable, such as a crop or a tree sapling. The mod's description says it works on crops, trees and anything else that's growable.[1]
- Stand near the plant and press your sneak key repeatedly. Each crouch can help the plant grow, so keep tapping until you're happy with how far along it is.[1]
- Repeat for every plant you want to speed up, and skip the bone meal. The mod describes itself as a replacement for it.[1]
What you can tweak
The mod has several options, which the pack may change. You can set the effect range (up to 16 blocks) and the effect chance. You can also choose which plants are affected, by registry name or by tag, and use either a whitelist or a blacklist.[1]
There is also an optional OPMode. When it's enabled, you only need to hold shift and every valid block in range is affected. The author says this started as an accident and was then made a config option.[1]
Unverified The pack's actual config values for Squat Grow (effect range, effect chance, whitelist or blacklist contents, and whether OPMode is on) could not be confirmed from the available sources. No crafting recipes or quests for this mod were found either, so there are no items to make first.
How does Squat Grow work?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Squat Grow is a very simple mod. There are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to set up. You crouch (squat, or twerk if you prefer) near a plant, and the plant grows. The project page says plants grow twice as fast with the mod, so you can leave the bonemeal at home.[1]
How you use it
Press your sneak key repeatedly until the plant has grown as much as you want. It works on crops, trees and anything else that's growable.[1]
What the mod can be configured to do
According to the mod's project page, these are the options it offers. They describe the mod in general, not necessarily the values this pack uses.[1]
- Effect range: you can change how far from you the effect reaches, up to 16 blocks.[1]
- Effect chance: you can change how likely each affected plant is to grow.[1]
- Whitelist or blacklist: you can limit which blocks are affected, either by the plant's registry name or by tags.[1]
- OPMode: if it is enabled, you only need to hold shift and all valid blocks in range are affected. The author says this started as an accident and was kept as a config option.[1]
Unverified The pack's actual range, chance, whitelist or blacklist and OPMode settings could not be confirmed from the available sources, so the defaults and limits above should not be treated as this pack's values. The pack's own recipes and quests for this mod are also unconfirmed.
Which Squat Grow config options matter?
3 parts
Squat Grow lets you crouch near plants to make them grow. Everything below lives in the mod's common config file, and these are the values this pack ships with.[1][3]
How strong the effect is
- range is 3. The file warns that setting it too high can cause lag, and it accepts values from 0 to 16.[3]
- chance is 0.5. That is the chance for a block to grow, and it accepts values between 0.0 and 1.0.[3]
- randomTickMultiplier is 4. That is how many times the mod calls the random tick on each block in range. It accepts 1 to 16.[3]
- requirements.xpCost is 1. You need at least 1 point of XP to grow a block and you lose that much when you do. It is measured in points, not levels, and 0 turns the cost off.[3]
What gets affected
useWhitelist is false, so ignoreList works as a blacklist. This pack's list covers grass block, grass, short grass, tall grass, netherrack, warped and crimson nylium, moss block, and the vine types (vine, weeping, twisting and cave vines). It also contains the #mysticalagriculture:crops tag from Mystical Agriculture.[3]
enableMysticalCrops is true, which the file describes as enabling Mystical Crops growth support.[3]
Requirements and extras
- requirements.items and requirements.enchants are both empty lists, so you do not need to hold a particular item or enchantment to grow plants.[3]
- requirements.durabilityCost is 0, so no durability damage is applied. requirements.durabilityChance is 1, but the file says it only matters when the cost is above 0.[3]
- enableDirtToGrass is true. Hold a grass block in your offhand and you can randomly turn dirt into grass.[3]
- enableAE2Accelerator is true and ae2Multiplier is 2. Both only apply if AE2 is present, and the multiplier accepts 1 to 16.[3]
- allowAdventureTwerking is true, so crouching works in adventure mode too.[3]
- debug is false, so debug logging is off.[3]
What changed in Squat Grow between versions?
1 part
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Squat Grow 26.1.2.2, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier. The only changelog the sources here give for the mod is the one for that version, so that is what this section covers.[4]
26.1.2.2
This is the version you have in 1.1.0. It added a way for other mods to hook into growth, plus an XP requirement option.[4][5]
- A new API for configuring Post actions, which run as the result of a successful growth action. This lets other mods add their own growth actions to Squat Grow.[5]
- By default the mod supports 2 post actions: one for an XP cost and one for an item durability cost.[5]
- Post actions can also have pre-checks that make sure a growth is possible. If you don't have enough XP, the mod checks that before attempting growth, so you aren't punished for it.[5]
- Post actions still depend on the growth action succeeding, so the random chance from the config is still used.[5]
- A new XP config option for requiring XP to grow things.[5]
Unverified The sources here show no pack changelog entries for Squat Grow, so whether any pack release changed its values or behavior is not confirmed. Check the pack's own changelog for that.

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as squatgrow, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
