What is Squat Grow?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Squat Grow is a small, fun utility mod: instead of reaching for bone meal, you crouch (squat, or twerk if you prefer) next to a plant and it grows. The project describes the effect as making your plants grow twice as fast. It works on crops, trees and anything else that's growable.[1]
This pack includes version 21.1.4+mc1.21.1 of the NeoForge build.[2]
How you use it
There's nothing to craft and nothing to set up. Stand near the plant and tap your sneak key repeatedly until it has grown as far as you want.[1]
What you can configure
- Effect range, up to 16 blocks.[1]
- Effect chance.[1]
- A whitelist or blacklist of the blocks that can be affected. You can list plants by registry name or by tag.[1]
- OPMode: you only hold shift and every valid block in range is affected. The author says this started as an accident and was later turned into a config option.[1]
Who it's for
It suits anyone who wants a hands-on, no-cost way to speed up farming, whether that's a few crops, a sapling or a whole patch within range. The OPMode option can speed things up a lot, so check your settings before you rely on it.[1]
Unverified The sources I was given don't show this mod's values in the pack's config (range, chance, lists, OPMode), so I can't say whether the pack changes any defaults. They also don't show any quests involving the mod, or a place for it on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Squat Grow?
2 parts
Good news: Squat Grow has no crafting chain to work through. The mod's project page describes the whole setup as installing it and pressing your sneak key repeatedly until your plant has grown.[1]
Your first steps
- Plant something growable, such as a crop or a tree. The mod says it works on crops, trees or anything else that's growable.[1]
- Stand near it and press your sneak key (squat or twerk) repeatedly. The mod's description says your plant will grow twice as fast.[1]
- Keep crouching until you are happy with the growth of the plant, then harvest as usual.[1]
Think of it as a free replacement for bonemeal: you spend a few crouches instead of an item.[1]
What the mod can be set up to do
The mod lists a few options. You can configure the effect range (up to 16 blocks) and the effect chance. You can also whitelist or blacklist the blocks that can be affected, using registry names or tags.[1]
There is also an OPMode option. With it enabled, you only need to hold shift and all valid blocks within range are affected.[1]
Unverified The range, chance, whitelist or blacklist and OPMode settings this pack uses are not shown in the sources here, so check the mod's config in your own instance before relying on any of them.
How does Squat Grow work?
2 parts
Squat Grow is a very small mod with one job: you crouch (squat, or twerk if you like) and the plants around you grow. There are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling here, so there is nothing to automate. Everything is driven by your sneak key.[1]
How growing works
Press your sneak key repeatedly near a plant and it grows, no bone meal needed. The mod page says your plants grow twice as fast. It works on crops, trees or anything else that is growable.[1]
- Stand within range of the plant you want to grow.[1]
- Press your sneak key repeatedly until you are happy with the growth.[1]
What you can configure
The mod lets you decide which plants are affected and how far the effect reaches. These are the options the mod page lists:[1]
- Effect range, which can be set up to 16 blocks.[1]
- Effect chance.[1]
- A whitelist or a blacklist of blocks that can be affected. You can pick plants by their registry name or by tags.[1]
- OPMode: you only need to hold shift and all valid blocks within range are affected. The author says this started as an accident, then added a config option to enable it.[1]
Unverified The exact values this pack uses for the effect range, effect chance, the whitelist or blacklist and OPMode are not shown in the sources here. They are set in the mod's config file, which the sources do not include, so check it in your instance.
What changed in Squat Grow between versions?
2 parts
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Squat Grow 5.3.0 for Minecraft 1.20.1, and it was already in the pack by version 0.0.45.4 or earlier. Everything below comes from the mod's own changelog, so these are the mod's changes rather than pack-specific edits.[3][4]
5.3.0 (the version in your pack)
This release brought a new requirements system that is much more customizable.[3]
- You can require any item to be held.[3]
- You can require equipment to be worn.[3]
- You can require the held item or worn equipment to be enchanted.[3]
- Fixed: the config did not reload properly when you ran /reload.[3]
- Fixed: the chance config was not computed properly, so the chance was always 100%.[3]
- Deprecated: the old requireHoe and hoeTakesDamage options, in favor of the new requirements system.[3]
Earlier releases
- 5.2.0: added an action where you hold a grass block in your offhand and squat to quickly convert dirt to grass. Most of the mod was rewritten to be more robust and extendable, and another crash that could disconnect clients (or crash single player) was fixed.[3]
- 5.1.1: fixed world crashes when the mod was used with mods like canary.[3]
- 5.1.0: now built for NeoForge instead of Forge, though it should still work on Forge. Added support for AE2 growth acceleratable blocks, plus a multiplier config option for sugarcane and AE2.[3]
- 5.0.4: better sugar cane chances.[3]
- 5.0.3: added a config option requiring a hoe to be held.[3]
- 3.0.0: ported to Architectury, giving both Forge and Fabric versions.[3]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as squatgrow, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
