Powah! is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 7.0.4-alpha. A tech mod that adds various ways to generate, store and transmit Energy. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Powah!?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Powah! is a tech mod all about Energy: generating it, storing it and moving it around. If you want a straightforward, satisfying power setup that grows from a simple fuel burner into a self-building reactor, this is the mod for you. This pack ships Powah! 7.0.4-alpha.[1][2]

Making power

Powah! gives you several ways to generate FE, so you can pick whatever fits your base.[1]

  • Furnators, like Furnator (Starter), burn solid furnace fuel such as coal and wood.[3]
  • Magmators, like Magmator (Starter), run on high-temperature fluids like lava.[4]
  • Solar Panels generate energy when they are exposed to sunlight.[5]
  • Thermo Generators are another generator option.[1]
  • The Reactor is a multiblock generator that uses Uraninite as its main fuel. You hold 36 Reactor blocks and place them in a 3X4 area, and the reactor finishes building itself automatically.[6]

Most of these blocks come in tiers, from starter up through nitro. For example, you can start with Furnator (Starter) and work up to Furnator (Nitro). Higher tiers generate more FE/t and have a higher energy output. They also burn fuel faster, while getting the same energy per fuel tick.[3]

Moving and using power

Beyond generators, you get classic Energy Cables and Energy Cells, an upgradable Ender Network, and gadgets like the Charged Snowball.[1]

  • Energizing is the mod's own crafting system. The Energizing Orb needs no energy itself, but it needs at least one Energizing Rod, like Energizing Rod (Starter), within a 9X9 range. Those rods must sit on cables or another FE block. More rods and higher rod tiers make energizing faster.[7]
  • The Player Transmitter (Starter) charges items in a linked player's inventory, including armor slots and the off-hand. With a normal binding card it works anywhere in the same dimension. With a dimensional binding card it works across dimensions.[8]
  • The Energy Hopper (Starter) charges items inside an adjacent inventory, such as a chest.[9]
  • The Energy Discharger (Starter) drains FE out of charged items and stores it in an internal buffer. You can then pull that power out with cables and reuse it.[10]
Tip: Powah! has an in-game Manual covering generators, storage and transfer, functional blocks, items and materials. It's the best place to dig into each block.[1][11]

How do you get started with Powah!?

6 parts

Powah! is a tech mod about generating, storing and moving energy. In this pack the numbers come from the pack's own config file, so the values below are the ones you will actually see. The in-game manual is split into Generators, Storage / Transfer, Functional Blocks, Items and Materials, so it is worth opening alongside this page.[1][12][13]

Build a basic power source

Start with a Furnator or a Solar Panel. The Furnator burns solid furnace fuel like coal or wood. The Solar Panel produces energy while it can see the sun, and any block above it stops production. Every generator comes in tiers from Starter up to Nitro.[14][15][16]

In this pack a Starter Furnator has a generation rate of 16 (generators.furnators.generation_rates.starter) and a Starter Solar Panel has 8 (generators.solar_panels.generation_rates.starter). The Furnator makes 30 energy per fuel tick (general.energy_per_fuel_tick).[13]

Store the power in a battery

Batteries charge items while they sit in your inventory. Craft the Basic one first.[17]

A Basic Battery holds 4,000,000 with a transfer rate of 4,000 in this pack.

The next tiers are Battery (Hardened) (10,000,000 capacity), Battery (Blazing) (40,000,000) and Battery (Niotic) (100,000,000). Each has its own crafting recipe in the pack.[13][18]

Get Uraninite

Uraninite Ore is rare and generates underground in deposits of 1 to 5 blocks. Poor ore is found below level 64, normal ore below level 20 and dense ore below level 0. You need an iron or better pickaxe, and each ore drops 1 piece of Raw Uraninite (Fortune increases the amount). Uraninite is the main fuel of the Reactor multiblock.[19][20]

Smelting

    Recipe id: powah:smelting/uraninite_from_raw

A blasting version also exists: powah:smelting/uraninite_from_raw_blasting.

The pack also adds ore processing recipes from other mods. For example, Occultism crushing gives 3, 5 or 10 Uraninite for the poor, regular and dense versions, and Horse Powered grinding has matching 3, 5 and 10 results.[18]

      Set up energizing

The Energizing Orb needs at least one Energizing Rod within a 9x9 area, and the pack sets the energizing range to 4 (general.energizing_range). More rods and higher rod tiers make it faster.[13][21]

      A Starter rod holds 10,000 (devices.energizing_rods.capacities.starter) and transfers 100 (devices.energizing_rods.transfer_rates.starter) in this pack.[13]

Watch out: The orb itself needs no energy, but the rods do. Place them on cables or any other Forge Energy block, or nothing will happen. The Wrench has a Link Mode for linking the orb and rods.[21][22]

This is where the pack's own Powah! recipes come in. It adds energizing recipes for the following blocks.[18]

              Later: the Player Transmitter

The Player Transmitter is crafted with a Player Aerial Pearl. You get one by using an Aerial Pearl on a Zombie or Husk, and the pack has this enabled (general.player_aerial_pearl).[13][23]

              How does Powah! work?

              6 parts

Powah! (Powah!) is built around one simple idea: generate FE, move it around, and store it. Everything comes in seven tiers: Starter, Basic, Hardened, Blazing, Niotic, Spirited and Nitro. This section covers how the machines behave, and the numbers are the ones this pack's config sets.[1][13]

              Generators

The Furnator burns solid furnace fuel like coal or wood. Higher tiers burn the fuel faster, but the energy gained per fuel tick stays the same. In this pack that value is general.energy_per_fuel_tick, set to 30.[13][14]

              • Furnator and Magmator generation rates by tier are the same: Starter 16, Basic 64, Hardened 128, Blazing 256, Niotic 512, Spirited 1,024, Nitro 4,096.[13]
              • Furnator and Magmator capacities by tier are also the same: Starter 20,000, Basic 80,000, Hardened 200,000, Blazing 800,000, Niotic 2,000,000, Spirited 8,000,000, Nitro 40,000,000.[13]
              • The Magmator runs on high temperature fluids like lava, and lava is worth 10,000 energy produced in its fuel data. Higher tiers burn the fuel faster for the same energy per fuel tick.[24][25]

The Solar Panel makes energy while it is exposed to sunlight, and any block that stops light above it stops its production. Generation by tier: Starter 8, Basic 16, Hardened 32, Blazing 64, Niotic 128, Spirited 256, Nitro 1,024. A Lens Of Ender applied to a Solar Panel makes it see through blocks.[13][15][26]

The Thermo Generator needs two things: it must sit on top of a high temperature block or fluid like lava, and it needs a coolant fluid like water to run. The heat data in the mod gives lava a temperature of 1,000, a Magma Block 800 and a Block Of Blazing Crystal 2,800. Water is the coolant, at temperature 0. Generation by tier: Starter 1, Basic 1, Hardened 64, Blazing 128, Niotic 256, Spirited 512, Nitro 2,048.[13][27][28][29][30]

Watch out: This pack removes the crafting recipes for the Starter and Basic Thermo Generator, and for the Starter and Basic Reactor. The config also sets the Starter and Basic Reactor to a capacity of 1 and a generation factor of 1.[13][31]

              The Reactor multiblock

The Reactor is a multiblock generator that burns Uraninite. To build it, hold 36 Reactor blocks and place them in a 3X4 replaceable area. The reactor then finishes building itself. If you are short on blocks, the game tells you how many more you need.[16][20]

The mod's fuel data lists Uraninite with a fuel amount of 100 and a temperature of 700. The Reactor stops when it is full and starts again when it has less than 70% of its energy. Its generation factor by tier: Hardened 128, Blazing 512, Niotic 2,560, Spirited 12,800, Nitro 64,000. Capacities: Hardened 250,000, Blazing 1,000,000, Niotic 2,500,000, Spirited 10,000,000, Nitro 50,000,000.[13][16][20][32]

Reactors are cooled with coolants. Water works as a fluid coolant. For solid coolants, the mod's data gives these amount and temperature pairs:[29][33]

              • Dry Ice: amount 712, temperature -32.[33]
              • Blue Ice: amount 568, temperature -17.[33]
              • Packed Ice: amount 192, temperature -8.[33]
              • Ice: amount 48, temperature -5. Snow Block: amount 48, temperature -3. Snowball: amount 12, temperature -3.[33]

Dry Ice is the main reactor coolant. You find it underground below level 64, or you can energize two pieces of blue ice to make it.[34][35]

Uraninite Ore comes in three types: poor below level 64, normal below level 20 and dense below level 0. It generates in deposits of 1 to 5 blocks. You need an iron or better pickaxe, and it drops Raw Uraninite (Fortune affects the amount). In this pack, smelting and blasting recipes turn the ore into Uraninite.[18][19]

              Smelting

                Recipe id: ftb:unification/minecraft/smelting/ore_to_gem/uraninite_dense

The pack adds smelting recipes like this one for the dense ore, and for the poor ore too.

                Energizing

The Energizing Orb energizes items. It needs at least one Energizing Rod in range, and the guide describes that range as 9X9. The speed depends on how many rods you have and the rod tier (its I/O rate). The orb itself needs no energy, but the rods must sit on cables or any other FE block to work. The pack's config has general.energizing_range at 4 and general.energizing_energy_ratio at 1.[13][21]

                • Energizing Rod transfer rates by tier: Starter 100, Basic 400, Hardened 1,000, Blazing 4,000, Niotic 10,000, Spirited 40,000, Nitro 200,000.[13]
                • Energizing Rod capacities by tier: Starter 10,000, Basic 40,000, Hardened 100,000, Blazing 400,000, Niotic 1,000,000, Spirited 4,000,000, Nitro 20,000,000.[13]
                • Energizing also makes things outside the machine tiers: a Charged Snowball comes from energizing a snowball, and Dry Ice from energizing two blue ice.[34][36]

The pack also adds this energizing route to the Block Of Blazing Crystal.

                    Cables, cells and batteries

Energy Cables move power between machines. Select the Config mode on the Wrench and right-click a cable to change its transfer mode. The Wrench has three modes: Config for cable I/O, Link for linking blocks like the orb and rods, and Rotate for turning blocks horizontally.[22][37]

                    • Cable transfer rates by tier: Starter 500, Basic 2,000, Hardened 5,000, Blazing 20,000, Niotic 50,000, Spirited 200,000, Nitro 1,000,000.[13]
                    • Energy Cell and Battery capacities by tier: Starter 1,000,000, Basic 4,000,000, Hardened 10,000,000, Blazing 40,000,000, Niotic 100,000,000, Spirited 400,000,000, Nitro 2,000,000,000.[13]

                    The Ender Network

An Ender Cell stores energy in a specific channel of its owner's ender network. You can reach that energy from anywhere in the world, as long as the Ender Cell you move power from or to has an active channel with a valid capacity. To raise a channel's capacity, Shift-click an Energy Cell or a Battery onto the Ender Cell GUI. Any energy inside is applied to the channel too.[17][38][39]

An Ender Gate moves energy between the adjacent block and the ender network. Unlike the Ender Cell, you cannot upgrade the network from a gate.[40]

                    • Channels by tier (the same for Ender Cells and Ender Gates): Starter 1, Basic 2, Hardened 3, Blazing 5, Niotic 7, Spirited 9, Nitro 12.[13]
                    • Ender Cell transfer rates match the Energy Cells: Starter 1,000 up to Nitro 2,000,000.[13]
                    • Ender Gate transfer rates match the cables: Starter 500 up to Nitro 1,000,000.[13]

                    Charging items and players

The Energy Discharger drains FE out of charged items and keeps it in an internal buffer. Connect cables to extract that power and use it again. Its capacities match the Energy Cells and its transfer rate runs from 1,000 at Starter to 2,000,000 at Nitro.[13][41]

The Energy Hopper does the opposite: it charges chargeable items in an adjacent inventory, like a chest. Its charging rates by tier are Starter 500, Basic 2,000, Hardened 5,000, Blazing 20,000, Niotic 50,000, Spirited 200,000, Nitro 1,000,000.[13][42]

The Player Transmitter charges items wirelessly in a linked player's inventory, including armor slots and the off-hand. A normal Binding Card works in the same dimension. A Dimensional Binding Card works across dimensions. Right-click a card to bind it to yourself before adding it to the transmitter. Its charging rates match the Energy Hopper's.[13][43][44][45]

The pack leaves the special item drops switched on in the config. general.dimensional_binding_card gives a Dimensional Binding Card when you right-click an Enderman or Endermite with a Binding Card. general.lens_of_ender gives a Lens Of Ender from a Photoelectric Pane the same way. general.player_aerial_pearl gives a Player Aerial Pearl when you use an Aerial Pearl on a Zombie or Husk, and the Player Transmitter is crafted with it.[13][23]

How do you progress through Powah!?

                    4 parts

Powah! is built around a ladder of tiers. In the in-game guide tables for the Furnator, Magmator, Reactor, Energizing Rod and the other machines, they run in this order: starter, basic, hardened, blazing, niotic, spirited, nitro. For the generators, higher tiers produce more FE/t and have a higher energy output.[14][20][21][24]

The same tier names show up on the Battery items, from Battery (Starter) up to Battery (Nitro). Every one of them has its own crafting recipe in the pack.[18]

                    Starting point: Energized Steel

Most of the mod runs through the Energizing Orb. It needs at least one Energizing Rod within a 9X9 range, and more rods or higher rod tiers make it work faster. The orb itself needs no power, but the rods must sit on cables or another Forge Energy block.[21]

The first thing you energize is Energized Steel, and one energizing recipe makes 2 of it. The pack also adds its own energizing recipe for the storage block, which makes 2 Block Of Energized Steel at a time.[18]

Added by the pack: energizing makes 2 blocks.

                        Uraninite and the Reactor

The Reactor is a multiblock generator that uses Uraninite as its main fuel. You hold 36 Reactor blocks and place them in a 3X4 replaceable area, then it finishes building itself.[20]

The deepslate Uraninite ores drop Raw Uraninite: 1 from poor ore, 2 from regular and 4 from dense, with Fortune applying a bonus. Silk Touch drops the ore block itself. The mod also has smelting and blasting recipes that turn the raw item into Uraninite.[18][46][47][48]

The pack adds ore-to-Uraninite recipes for many machines, including Ender IO, Energized Power, FTB Industrial Contraptions, LTX Industries and Oritech. Horse Powered grinding and Occultism crushing give 3, 5 and 10 Uraninite for poor, regular and dense ore. Mystical Agriculture and Productive Bees also have routes to Uraninite.[18]

                        Crystal tiers

Blazing, Niotic, Spirited and Nitro are the crystal-based upper tiers. You can energize Blazing Crystal and Niotic Crystal. Blazing Crystal can also be crafted: 9 come from one block of it, and the block can be crafted too.[18]

The connection between Powah! and another mod in this pack that the recipes confirm is Productive Bees. Its centrifuge can produce Powah! materials, so you can get some of them from bees instead of only from the Powah! side of the pack.[18]

Powah! materials from the Productive Bees centrifuge

Six centrifuge recipes give you Powah! items. Each one also gives you Wax as a second output. You get Blazing Crystal, Niotic Crystal, Nitro Crystal, Spirited Crystal, Energized Steel and Raw Uraninite.[18]

The recipe dump shows no item inputs for these recipes, so the blocks below are the place to check exactly what the pack uses.[18]

                                        Which Powah! config options matter?

                                        3 parts

Powah! keeps its tuning in one config file, and this pack sets every value explicitly. Each device comes in tiers named starter, basic, hardened, blazing, niotic, spirited and nitro. To keep this readable I show the lowest and highest tier for the options you are most likely to care about. The other tiers follow the same pattern in the file.[13]

                                        General options

                                        Generator output

Watch out: The starter and basic Reactors are set very low in this pack: generators.reactors.capacities.starter and generators.reactors.capacities.basic are both 1, and generators.reactors.generation_rates.starter and generators.reactors.generation_rates.basic are both 1. Check the tier before you build one.[13]

What changed in Powah! between versions?

                                        1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Powah! version 7.0.4-alpha. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so this is the build you get if you are playing 1.1.0.[55]

                                        Powah! 7.0.4-alpha

The mod's own changelog for this release lists these changes:[56]

                                        • A default block state is now registered for all blocks.[56]
                                        • A texture update.[56]
                                        • A fix for a player transmitter duplication bug.[56]
Watch out: The mod's changelog marks this as an alpha release. It recommends making a backup before installing and frequently while playing, and reporting any issue you find on the mod's issue tracker.[56]

Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for Powah!, so any change the pack itself made to this mod between releases is not shown. That detail would be in the pack's own changelogs, which the sources here do not show.
