ExtraStorage is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 6.0.0. Add new blocks to Refined Storage, like more advanced crafters (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is ExtraStorage?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage. If you already run a Refined Storage network, this mod adds bigger and faster parts to build it out with.[1]

What it adds

  • 4 upgraded Autocrafter tiers, each offering faster crafting speeds and increased pattern capacity.[1]
  • Advanced Importers and Exporters with 18 filter slots, which is double the standard.[1]
  • Larger storage options for both items and fluids: high-capacity Storage Disks, Storage Blocks and Fluid Storage Blocks.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes ExtraStorage 5.0.10, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.43 or earlier.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter or group for ExtraStorage, what comes before or after it in the quest book, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. That detail lives in the pack's quest book, so check there before you plan around it.

How do you get started with ExtraStorage?

5 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage, so you need a Refined Storage setup before any of this is useful. It adds stronger autocrafters, bigger importers and exporters, and much larger storage for items and fluids. Here is a sensible order to build things in.[1]

Step one: an Autocrafter

Start with the Iron Autocrafter. The mod's own advancement text calls it the next generation of crafters. The mod adds 4 upgraded Autocrafter tiers with faster crafting and more pattern capacity: Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite. You can come back to the others once you want more speed.[1][3]

Step two: Advanced Importer and Exporter

Next, make an Advanced Importer and an Advanced Exporter. Both have 18 filter slots, double the standard, so one block can handle a lot more item types.[1]

Step three: bigger storage

The smallest item tier here is the 256k one, so begin with the 256k Storage Part and the 256k Storage Disk. Fluids start at the 16384b Fluid Storage Part and the 16384b Fluid Storage Disk. Higher tiers use the same pattern of part, disk and block.[3][4]

Step four: Neural Processor

The pack also has a Neural Processor and a Raw Neural Processor. The raw one is made in a crafting grid, while the Neural Processor itself has a smelting recipe.[3][4]

    Autocrafter power use

Tip: Crafters use energy. crafters.base_energy is 15 in this pack (the same as the mod default), and it can be set from 1 to 1,000. crafters.include_pattern_energy is true, so the patterns inside a crafter add to its power draw. crafters.uniformly_distribute_processing is false.[5]

    How does ExtraStorage work?

    5 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage. It adds 4 tiers of upgraded Autocrafters, Advanced Importers and Exporters, and much bigger storage for both items and fluids. This page covers how those pieces behave in this pack.[1]

    Autocrafters

There are 4 Autocrafter tiers: Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite, and the mod's crafter block tag lists every one of them. The mod describes the tiers as offering faster crafting speeds and increased pattern capacity.[1][3][6]

To see how many patterns a crafter takes, check its tooltip. It has a "Slots for patterns" line, and you can hold Shift for more details.[3]

    Recipe id: extrastorage:diamond_crafter

This is how the Diamond Autocrafter is made in this pack.

If you rename a crafter and then break it, the dropped block keeps its custom name. That goes for all 4 tiers.[1][7][8][9][10]

Tip: The mod has Jade options for a custom display on crafters and on advanced crafters, so you can toggle that if you use Jade.[3]

    Crafter power use

Crafters draw energy, and the pack's server config controls how much. crafters.base_energy is the minimum energy a crafter consumes. The pack sets it to 15, which is also the mod default, and it can be set anywhere from 1 to 1,000.[5]

crafters.include_pattern_energy is set to true in this pack. That means the amount of patterns in a crafter is included in its power consumption.[5]

crafters.uniformly_distribute_processing is set to false in this pack. The config describes the underlying limit like this: a crafter's speed is limited by the number of available slots in the inventory it is connected to.[5]

    Advanced Importer and Exporter

The Advanced Importer and Advanced Exporter have 18 filter slots, double the standard number. Like the crafters, they keep a custom name when you break and pick them up.[1][11][12]

    Storage disks and blocks

The mod adds high-capacity Storage Disks, Storage Blocks and Fluid Storage Blocks. Item disks come in these sizes:[1][3]

Fluid disks come in these sizes, and the 65536b Fluid Storage Disk sits between the 16384b and the 262144b ones:[3]

Every tier also has a matching Storage Part item, and a Storage Block or Fluid Storage Block of the same size. Those blocks drop themselves when broken, using a dedicated storage block loot function.[3][13][14]

In this pack the 256k item disk has a shaped recipe, a shapeless recipe and an upgrade recipe of the mod's own upgrade type. Here they are:[4]

How do you progress through ExtraStorage?

        4 parts

ExtraStorage adds bigger storage tiers and extra tools to your storage network. In this pack the tiers come as separate item disks and fluid disks, plus a line of autocrafters. Every recipe below is the exact in-pack version, so check the recipe blocks rather than the mod's defaults.[4][6]

        Item storage tiers

Item storage goes up through 256k Storage Disk, 1024k Storage Disk, 4096k Storage Disk and 16384k Storage Disk. Each tier has a matching storage part, a disk and a storage block.[4]

Every part has its own shaped recipe, so you craft the part first. Here is the first tier:[4]

        Recipe id: extrastorage:disk/shapeless/256k_item_storage_disk

There is also a shapeless recipe for the same disk.

Each disk and each block also has an upgrade recipe of the mod's own upgrade type, so you can step up a tier without starting over. This is the upgrade into the 1024k Storage Disk:[4]

          Recipe id: extrastorage:storage_upgrade/1024k_item_storage_disk_upgrade

The disk upgrade recipe for the next item tier.

Blocks follow the same pattern. The 256k Storage Block has a normal crafting recipe and an upgrade recipe, and so do the larger blocks.[4]

              Autocrafters

The mod has a metal-themed line of autocrafters: Iron Autocrafter, Gold Autocrafter, Diamond Autocrafter and Netherite Autocrafter. The mod groups them all under one crafter block tag, listed in that order. Each has its own shaped crafting recipe.[4][6]

                Which ExtraStorage config options matter?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

ExtraStorage keeps its settings in the server config file, and everything this pack sets there is about the crafter's energy use and how it handles processing. The list is short, so this is quick.[15]

                • crafters.base_energy is set to 15 in this pack, the same as the mod default of 15, so the pack did not change it. It is the minimum level of energy the crafter consumes, and the allowed range is 1 to 1,000.[15]
                • crafters.include_pattern_energy is set to true in this pack. With it on, the number of patterns in the crafter is included in its power consumption.[15]
                • crafters.uniformly_distribute_processing is set to false in this pack. The config describes the crafter's speed as limited by the number of available slots in the inventory it is connected to, and this option is the one tied to that behavior.[15]
Tip: If your crafters are using more power than you expected, check how many patterns are loaded into them. Pattern energy is turned on in this pack, so the patterns count toward consumption alongside the base amount of 15.[15]

What changed in ExtraStorage between versions?

                1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships ExtraStorage 6.0.0, using the file ExtraStorage-26.1.2-6.0.0.jar. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition in this release.[16]

                What changed in 6.0.0

The mod's own changelog for 6.0.0 is short and lists commit titles only, with no further detail. Here is what it says:[17]

                • Port to 26.1.2, which matches the version in the jar name the pack uses.[16][17]
                • The release is marked as beta.[17]
                • A tags fix.[17]
                • A bug fix, with no description of what it covers.[17]
                • A version update and a CI update, which are behind-the-scenes housekeeping.[17]

Because 6.0.0 is marked as beta by its author, it's worth keeping a backup of your world before you rely heavily on it.[17]

Unverified The pack changelogs shown here have no entries for ExtraStorage, so any pack-specific changes to the mod between releases are unverified. Check the pack's own changelog if you need that detail.
