ExtraStorage is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 5.0.10. Add new blocks to Refined Storage, like more advanced crafters (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is ExtraStorage?

3 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage that boosts your automation and storage. It adds 4 upgraded Autocrafter tiers, each with faster crafting and more pattern capacity. It also adds Advanced Importers and Exporters with 18 filter slots, double the standard, plus larger storage options for both items and fluids, including high-capacity Storage Disks, Storage Blocks and Fluid Storage Blocks.[1]

This pack includes ExtraStorage 5.0.10.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The ExtraStorage quests live in the "General Storage" chapter, which is chapter 7 of 31 in the book and part of the "Resources & Logistics" group. The chapter has 146 quests and opens with "General Storage Options" quest, which says it covers most of the basic ways to store your items. Only some of the chapter's quests are covered here, so check the quest book for the rest.[3]

The chapter also holds quests for other storage systems, such as Sophisticated Backpacks, Functional Drawers and Ender Storage. It includes "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest too, which follows the Sky Stone quest.[3]

The Autocrafter chain

The four upgraded Autocrafters form a quest line. "Iron Autocrafter" quest comes after the regular Autocrafter quest, and each later quest comes after the one before it.[3]

The storage part chain

The storage parts have their own quests, and each one comes after the previous size. "256k Storage Part" quest follows the 64k Storage Part quest, and "16384k Storage Part" quest follows that. For fluids, "16384b Fluid Storage Part" quest follows the 4096B Fluid Storage Part quest, and "1048576b Fluid Storage Part" quest follows that. These quests only ask you to obtain the part: 256k Storage Part, 16384k Storage Part, 16384b Fluid Storage Part and 1048576b Fluid Storage Part.[3]

How do you get started with ExtraStorage?

3 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage. It adds bigger storage, bigger autocrafters and bigger importers and exporters to a Refined Storage network, so set that network up first. In the pack's quest book, Refined Storage starts at "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest, which comes right after "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest. The ExtraStorage quests sit in the General Storage chapter (group Resources & Logistics, chapter 7 of 31).[1][3]

Step 1: Bigger storage

For items, start with the 256k Storage Part. Its quest ("256k Storage Part" quest) comes after the 64k Storage Part quest, and the next quest in the line is "16384k Storage Part" quest.[3]

Once you have a part, turn it into a 256k Storage Disk. There is a shapeless recipe and a shaped one, so use whichever suits what you have on hand.[4]

Upgrade Recipe (extrastorage)

Recipe id: extrastorage:storage_upgrade/block_256k_upgrade

Fluids follow the same pattern. The 16384b Fluid Storage Part quest ("16384b Fluid Storage Part" quest) comes after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part quest, and "1048576b Fluid Storage Part" quest follows it.[3]

Step 2: Advanced importers and exporters

The Advanced Importer and Advanced Exporter have 18 filter slots, double the standard ones. They are a good way to upgrade your automation.[1]

Step 3: The autocrafter tiers

The quest book orders the autocrafters Iron, Gold, Diamond, then Netherite, so build them in that order. The Iron Autocrafter has 27 pattern slots. The Gold Autocrafter has 45, the Diamond Autocrafter has 63 and the Netherite Autocrafter has 81. Each tier works as fast as the fully upgraded tier before it.[3]

The pack changed the recipes for all four of these autocrafters, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The Gold, Diamond and Netherite recipes use the Neural Processor, so check that one too.[4]

Tip: Crafters use power. In this pack crafters.base_energy is 15, the same as the mod default, and crafters.include_pattern_energy is true, so the patterns stored in a crafter count towards its consumption.[5]

The General Storage chapter has 146 quests in total, so keep scrolling through the quest book for the rest of the storage options.[3]

How does ExtraStorage work?

4 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage, so everything here plugs into your normal Refined Storage network. It adds stronger autocrafters, bigger importers and exporters, and much larger storage for items and fluids.[1]

Autocrafters

The mod adds 4 upgraded Autocrafter tiers, each with faster crafting and more room for patterns. Besides the Iron Autocrafter and the Netherite Autocrafter, you will also meet the Gold Autocrafter and the Diamond Autocrafter, whose pack recipes are shown below.[1][6]

The tooltip shows how many slots for patterns a crafter has, and you can hold Shift for more details. There are also Jade options that turn on a custom display for the crafters.[6]

The pack changed the recipes for both the Gold and Diamond Autocrafter, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod. Both also need a Neural Processor.[4]

Crafter power use

Crafters have these server config options in the extrastorage server config file. This is how the pack has them set:[5]

Advanced Importer and Exporter

The Advanced Importer and Advanced Exporter have 18 filter slots, double the standard amount. That gives you a lot more room for filters on a single block when you automate item movement.[1][6]

Bigger storage

ExtraStorage adds higher-capacity Storage Disks, Storage Blocks and Fluid Storage Blocks for both items and fluids. The item blocks include the 256k Storage Block and 1024k Storage Block. The fluid blocks include the 16384b Fluid Storage Block, 65536b Fluid Storage Block, 262144b Fluid Storage Block and 1048576b Fluid Storage Block.[1][4][6]

Each capacity tier has a Storage Part and a Storage Disk. A disk can be made two ways: a shaped recipe, or a shapeless recipe that uses a Storage Housing and the matching part. Here is the 1024k disk as an example.[4][6]

How do you progress through ExtraStorage?

5 parts

ExtraStorage builds on top of Refined Storage 2, so most of what you do here is stretch your network further: bigger storage parts, disks and blocks, plus autocrafters with far more pattern slots. Its quests sit in the General Storage chapter (group Resources & Logistics, chapter 7 of 31 in the book), in the Refined Storage 2 part of that chapter.[3]

Item storage tiers

The item line starts from the Refined Storage parts you already know. In the quest book it runs Disk Drive, then 1k Storage Part, then 64k Storage Part, and from there "256k Storage Part" quest comes next, followed by "16384k Storage Part" quest. Those two quests ask for 256k Storage Part and 16384k Storage Part.[3]

The pack's recipes also give you the steps in between, each part built on the tier below it. The recipes for 1024k Storage Part, 4096k Storage Part and 16384k Storage Part follow the 256k one below.[4]

Fluids follow the same idea. The quest chain goes Disk Drive, 64B Fluid Storage Part, 4096B Fluid Storage Part, then "16384b Fluid Storage Part" quest and finally "1048576b Fluid Storage Part" quest.[3]

The pack's recipes carry the fluid line further, one tier at a time: 16384b Fluid Storage Part, then 65536b Fluid Storage Part, then 262144b Fluid Storage Part, then 1048576b Fluid Storage Part.[4]

Turning parts into disks and blocks

Every part can become a disk: either with a shapeless recipe that combines a Storage Housing with the part, or with a shaped recipe that uses the part with a few other materials. The shapeless one is the quick option.[4]

You can also upgrade instead of starting over. Block upgrades use a special upgrade recipe that takes the new part together with lower-tier Refined Storage storage blocks. The 1024k disk has a similar upgrade recipe that takes the part and your older disks. The Disk Drive quest explains the idea: crafting the upgraded part with an existing Storage Disk returns your old disk and keeps everything stored inside.[3][4]

Autocrafter tiers

The autocrafter line is where the quest book gives you the clearest ladder. It starts with the Refined Storage Autocrafter, which accepts up to 9 patterns, and then climbs through four metal tiers, each quest following the one before it.[3]

  1. "Iron Autocrafter" quest: the Iron Autocrafter has 27 Pattern slots and works as fast as a fully upgraded Autocrafter.[3]
  2. "Gold Autocrafter" quest: the Gold Autocrafter has 45 Pattern slots and works as fast as a fully upgraded Iron Autocrafter.[3]
  3. "Diamond Autocrafter" quest: the Diamond Autocrafter has 63 Pattern slots and works as fast as a fully upgraded Gold Autocrafter.[3]
  4. "Netherite Autocrafter" quest: the Netherite Autocrafter has 81 Pattern slots and works as fast as a fully upgraded Diamond Autocrafter.[3]
Watch out: The pack changed the recipes for all four of these autocrafters, so don't rely on recipes from other packs or the mod's defaults. The Iron one builds on a Refined Storage autocrafter, and each higher tier is crafted from the autocrafter below it, along with a Neural Processor.[4]

How does ExtraStorage work with other mods?

4 parts

ExtraStorage is an addon for Refined Storage, and the pack's recipes show it. Every in-pack recipe that links it to another mod leads to Refined Storage, with a few vanilla ingredients mixed in. So if you want to use ExtraStorage, you'll be building on your Refined Storage setup.[1][4]

Advanced Importer and Exporter

Advanced Importer and Advanced Exporter are crafted in a normal crafting grid, building on Refined Storage's own Importer and Exporter. They have 18 filter slots, double the standard.[1][4]

Storage parts, disks and blocks

The bigger storage tiers chain off Refined Storage tiers. The 256k Storage Part recipe asks for Refined Storage's 64k Storage Part, and the 16384b Fluid Storage Part recipe asks for the 4096B Fluid Storage Part. The higher tiers ask for a part from the tier below, accepted through Refined Storage part tags.[4]

Each ExtraStorage disk has two recipes, a shaped one and a shapeless one. The shapeless one uses Refined Storage's Storage Housing together with the matching part.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: extrastorage:disk/shapeless/disk_256k

The pack also has 16 upgrade recipes, which take lower-tier Refined Storage blocks or disks together with the ExtraStorage part and make the ExtraStorage block or disk. The 256k block upgrade is a good example.[4]

In the quest book

The ExtraStorage quests are in the "General Storage" chapter, in the "Resources & Logistics" group (chapter 7 of 31 in the book). The part quests follow on from Refined Storage ones. "256k Storage Part" quest comes after the 64k Storage Part quest, and "16384k Storage Part" quest comes after that. On the fluid side, "16384b Fluid Storage Part" quest comes after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part quest, and "1048576b Fluid Storage Part" quest follows it.[3]

The autocrafters form their own chain, starting after the Autocrafter quest: "Iron Autocrafter" quest, then "Gold Autocrafter" quest, "Diamond Autocrafter" quest and "Netherite Autocrafter" quest. According to the quests, the Iron Autocrafter has 27 pattern slots, the Gold Autocrafter has 45, the Diamond Autocrafter has 63 and the Netherite Autocrafter has 81. Each one works as fast as the fully upgraded tier before it.[3]

Most of the chapter's 146 quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book for the rest of the storage options.[3]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use ExtraStorage?

2 parts

All the ExtraStorage quests in this pack live in one chapter: General Storage. It sits in the group "Resources & Logistics" and is chapter 7 of 31 in the quest book. The chapter has 146 quests, and the ExtraStorage ones hang off the Refined Storage 2 branch of it. Each of them asks you to have the item.[3]

Storage parts

The item storage parts continue the Refined Storage 2 disk line. That line runs from "Disk Drive" quest to "1k Storage Part" quest to "64k Storage Part" quest. After that come two ExtraStorage quests, in this order:[3]

  1. "256k Storage Part" quest asks for the 256k Storage Part. It unlocks after the 64k Storage Part quest.[3]
  2. "16384k Storage Part" quest asks for the 16384k Storage Part. It unlocks after the 256k quest.[3]

The fluid parts follow the same pattern. They branch off "64B Fluid Storage Part" quest, which comes after the Disk Drive quest, and continue through "4096B Fluid Storage Part" quest. Then you get two ExtraStorage quests:[3]

  1. "16384b Fluid Storage Part" quest asks for the 16384b Fluid Storage Part. It unlocks after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part quest.[3]
  2. "1048576b Fluid Storage Part" quest asks for the 1048576b Fluid Storage Part. It unlocks after the 16384b quest.[3]

Autocrafters

The autocrafter line starts from "Autocrafter" quest, the regular Refined Storage 2 Autocrafter, which comes after "Auto Crafting" quest. From there each quest unlocks after the one before it, and each autocrafter works as fast as a fully upgraded version of the previous tier:[3]

  1. "Iron Autocrafter" quest asks for the Iron Autocrafter, which has 27 Pattern slots.[3]
  2. "Gold Autocrafter" quest asks for the Gold Autocrafter, which has 45 Pattern slots.[3]
  3. "Diamond Autocrafter" quest asks for the Diamond Autocrafter, which has 63 Pattern slots.[3]
  4. "Netherite Autocrafter" quest asks for the Netherite Autocrafter, which has 81 Pattern slots.[3]
Tip: For comparison, the base Autocrafter quest says it accepts up to 9 configured recipe Patterns and 4 Speed Upgrades, so the ExtraStorage tiers give you much more pattern space in one block.[3]

The quest text for 13 of the 146 quests in General Storage is not included here for lack of room, so check the quest book itself for those.[3]

Which ExtraStorage config options matter?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

ExtraStorage keeps its settings in the server config file, and everything this pack sets there is about the crafter's energy use and how it handles processing. The list is short, so this is quick.[7]

  • crafters.base_energy is set to 15 in this pack, the same as the mod default of 15, so the pack did not change it. It is the minimum level of energy the crafter consumes, and the allowed range is 1 to 1,000.[7]
  • crafters.include_pattern_energy is set to true in this pack. With it on, the number of patterns in the crafter is included in its power consumption.[7]
  • crafters.uniformly_distribute_processing is set to false in this pack. The config describes the crafter's speed as limited by the number of available slots in the inventory it is connected to, and this option is the one tied to that behavior.[7]
Tip: If your crafters are using more power than you expected, check how many patterns are loaded into them. Pattern energy is turned on in this pack, so the patterns count toward consumption alongside the base amount of 15.[7]

What changed in ExtraStorage between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships ExtraStorage 5.0.10, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been there from the early releases.[2]

ExtraStorage 5.0.10

The mod's own changelog for 5.0.10 has a single entry, a fix referencing issue #109. It doesn't describe what the fix changes, so I can't tell you more than that.[8]

Unverified The pack changelogs I had access to contain no entries about ExtraStorage, and the mod changelog I had covers only version 5.0.10, so changes between earlier pack releases are unverified.
