What is Ender IO?

2 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod. Its project page lists armor, tools, weapons, machines, conduits, inventory management, mobs, enchantments and decorative blocks. The mod is being rewritten from the ground up, so some of its features may not have been ported yet.[1]

This pack includes Ender IO 9.0.5-alpha.[2]

Conduits

The project page lists these conduit types: Item, Fluid, Energy, Redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism Chemicals. Since the mod is mid-rewrite and some features are not yet ported, treat this as the mod's listed feature set rather than a promise of what is in your world.[1]

Things to know

Watch out: Ender IO is being rewritten from the ground up for the latest version of Minecraft, and some features will not yet have been ported. If you remember a feature from older versions and can't find it, it may not have been ported yet.[1]
Tip: The project page says recipe conflicts with Unidict and AE2 have workarounds in place to avoid issues in survival play.[1]

How do you get started with Ender IO?

4 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, armor, tools, weapons and more. The in-game guidebook entries I could check are only placeholders, so this section is built from the pack's recipe list and the mod's own text. That means I can tell you what you can craft, but not an official progression.[1][3][4][5][6]

Your first crafts

  1. Start with a Basic Capacitor. Machines won't run without a capacitor installed, so you need one before any machine will work.[6][7]
  2. Make an Alloy Smelter. It has its own crafting recipe in the pack, and it's the first machine I'd build.[6]
  3. Craft your first alloys: a Conductive Alloy Ingot and a Dark Steel Ingot. Both are shapeless crafting recipes in the pack.[6]

Basic Capacitor

The recipe list shows a Basic Capacitor recipe from Ender IO itself and another from its Endergy add-on. I can't tell from the sources which one you'll actually use, so both are shown below.[6]

Dark steel is worth having early. The pack also has recipes for dark steel items such as the Dark Steel Ladder, which is faster than a regular ladder, and for the The Ender.[6][7]

Tip: If a machine isn't doing anything, check its status message. It will tell you if there's no capacitor, not enough power, no item in the input, not enough room for the output, or if redstone is blocking it. A Drain also needs a source block under it to work.[7]

How does Ender IO work?

5 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod built around machines, conduits and inventory management. This section covers the mechanics the mod's own text explains: capacitors, machine status, conduits and filters.[1]

Capacitors and machine power

Machines won't run until you put a capacitor in them. An empty slot shows the message "Insert any capacitor so this machine can work!", and the status tooltip says to install a capacitor before you can use the machine.[7]

Capacitors carry modifiers for energy capacity, energy use, burning energy generation and fuel efficiency. Ender IO's energy unit is described as equivalent to FE.[7]

Reading a machine's status

When a machine isn't working, its status tooltip usually tells you why. These are the states the mod reports:[7]

  • Active: the machine is running.[7]
  • Blocked by redstone: the machine is blocked by redstone.[7]
  • No capacitor: you need to install one.[7]
  • Not enough power: there is not enough power to use the machine.[7]
  • Energy full: the energy storage is full.[7]
  • Input empty: there is no item in the input.[7]
  • Output full: there is not enough room for the output.[7]

Two machines have special notes. The Drain needs a source block under it to work, and the photovoltaic cell produces power during daylight hours and must have a clear line of sight to the sky. The SAG Mill's output chances are modified by its grinding ball.[7]

The Alloy Smelter is one of the machines the pack gives a crafting recipe for.[6]

Conduits

Ender IO lists these conduit types: item, fluid, energy, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals.[1]

Conduit tooltips show two kinds of speed. Fluid conduits give a raw rate in mB per network tick and an effective rate in mB/t. Item conduits give a raw rate in items per network tick and an effective rate in items per second. A separate tooltip shows how many network ticks happen per second.[7]

Conduit facades have two variants. Hardened facades resist breaking and explosions. Transparent facades hide conduits when painted with a translucent block. A conduit probe can hold copied conduit data.[7]

Filters

An unconfigured filter tells you to use it while crouching to configure it. If a filter shows a warning about component matching, that matching is no longer available to the item, and you can clear the filter in the crafting grid to remove the warning.[7]

The pack's filter items include the Basic Item Filter, Big Item Filter, Advanced Item Filter, Big Advanced Item Filter, Basic Fluid Filter, Basic Soul Filter and Redstone AND Filter. The recipe blocks below show how to craft some of them.[6]

Capacitor Bank and Void Vial

The mod has an advancement for building a Capacitor Bank. If you want connected textures on the bank, the mod suggests installing Athena on your client.[7]

The Void Vial collects experience orbs on your behalf. You can insert the stored XP into tanks or drink it yourself.[7]

How do you progress through Ender IO?

3 parts

The sources for this pack don't lay out an Ender IO progression order, so I won't invent one. What I can confirm is which tier materials and machines have in-pack recipes, which tells you what to look out for as you play.[6]

Alloy and metal tiers with recipes in the pack

The Conductive Alloy Ingot, Energetic Alloy Ingot, Dark Steel Ingot and End Steel Ingot all have in-pack recipes, and so do their nuggets, blocks and grinding balls, for example the Dark Steel Grinding Ball. Here is the dark steel ingot as it appears in this pack:[6]

  • Dark Steel Block

Recipe id: enderio:dark_steel_ingot

Decompression recipes also exist for the Pulsating Alloy Block, Vibrant Alloy Block, Redstone Alloy Block and Soularium Block. That shows those materials exist in the pack, but the sources here don't show how you make them or how they rank.[6]

Machines and capacitors

The Alloy Smelter has an in-pack crafting recipe, so it is the machine to look at when you start working with these alloys. Here's the recipe as it appears in this pack:[6]

For power tiers, the pack has recipes for the Basic Capacitor and the Double-Layer Capacitor. The Basic Capacitor shows up under a recipe id from Ender IO itself and another from the enderio_endergy namespace, so check which one you are looking at.[6]

Conduit tiers

Ender IO's own conduit recipe ids include energy, enhanced energy, ender energy, energetic item and ender fluid conduits, plus matching upgrade recipes. The enderio_endergy namespace adds more energy conduit recipes named crude, copper, iron, gold, crystalline, melodic and stellar. Crystalline, melodic and stellar also get upgrade recipes. The dump lists these conduit outputs under a missing-name entry, so I can't give you their exact order or stats.[6]

Dark steel items in the pack include Dark Steel Bars, Dark Steel Door, Dark Steel Ladder, Dark Steel Trapdoor, Dark Steel Pressure Plate and the sword The Ender. End Steel Bars is the end steel counterpart. Here is the dark steel bars recipe:[6]

Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter that involves Ender IO, so I can't point you to a quest-guided path for this mod. The in-game guide entries I received contain only placeholder text.

How does Ender IO work with other mods?

2 parts

The clearest link between Ender IO and another mod in this pack is Productive Bees. The pack's centrifuge recipes from that mod have outputs that are Ender IO items, so you can farm Ender IO materials with bees instead of smelting everything yourself.[6]

Productive Bees centrifuge recipes

These recipes use the productivebees:centrifuge recipe type, and their ids are named after honeycombs. In the pack dump they list no item inputs. Each one gives you an Ender IO item plus Wax.[6]

Here are two of them as examples. The rest follow the same pattern.[6]

Centrifuge (productivebees)

    Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/enderio/honeycomb_conductive_alloy

    Centrifuge (productivebees)

      Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/enderio/honeycomb_infinity

      Conduit support for other mods

Ender IO's own project page lists conduit types for Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals, alongside its item, fluid, energy and redstone conduits. It also lists optional modules for Forestry and Tinkers Construct. That describes the mod in general, so I can't confirm from the pack data which of those integrations are active here.[1]

Unverified Other crafting recipes or quests that combine Ender IO items with items from other mods were not found in the provided pack data, so none are covered here.

Which Ender IO config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide

There's nothing to tune here. The pack ships no config files for this mod, so every option runs at whatever the mod itself defaults to, and nothing has been changed for this pack.[1]

That also means you don't need to touch anything before you start building machines and conduits. Energy, item, fluid, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemical conduits are all present in the version bundled here, as are the machines, armor, weapons, tools, enchantments and decorative blocks.[1]

Tip: This is the monolithic build of the mod, so Base, Machines, Conduits and the Inventory Panel all come in a single jar rather than as separate module mods you could add or remove individually.[1]
Watch out: The mod is being rewritten from the ground up for modern Minecraft, so if a feature you remember is missing, it's most likely not ported yet rather than something disabled by a config option in this pack.[1]

Unverified Any in-game config screen this mod may expose has not been checked against the pack, so treat anything you find there as mod defaults rather than pack-tuned values.

What changed in Ender IO between versions?

      6 parts

All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Ender IO 9.0.5-alpha. It was first included in All the Mods 11 0.0.2 or earlier. The changelogs below cover the Minecraft 26.1.2 port, from the initial 9.0.0-alpha release up to the version you are playing, as each one described itself when it was published.[2][8]

Watch out: In the 9.0.0-alpha changelog, the developers said they would keep making porting and design changes until beta, and to expect stuff to explode at any time until then.[8]

      9.0.0-alpha

This was the initial release for Minecraft 26.1.2, in line with the latest 1.21.1 build apart from a single feature change. That change lets the stirling generator burn bucketed fuel. It came with a side-effect: the fuel can be pulled out with conduits, or by setting the machine to push.[8]

      9.0.1-alpha

      • As of this release, it requires NeoForge 26.1.2.21-beta or greater.[9]
      • This release's feature list includes some modded ores in the SAG mill, powered spawner visuals and animation, and curios support in the wireless charger.[9]
      • The changelog lists the missing config for the farming station range overlay as added.[9]
      • Its fixes include a wireless charger crash, a compiler plugin that caused a number of crashes, and inventories and the fluid tank not respecting max stack sizes.[9]
      • It also fixed the mind killer not working on slimes, farming station collection logic, soul binder soul data recipes and the travel anchor not working.[9]
      • Known issue listed at the time of this release: the stirling generator accepted bucketed fuel, but the fuel could be extracted with conduits or by setting the machine to push. The developers said they were working on it.[9]

      9.0.2-alpha

When it was released, this version brought the port back in line with 8.2.7-beta on Minecraft 1.21.1, and the changelog says it had no 26.1-specific changes.[10]

      • The changelog for this release lists new XyCraft and Mekanism SAG Mill recipes, plus particle and sound effects on machines.[10]
      • It lists recipe changes: some alloy recipes return more metal depending on the number of input ingots, and the photovoltaic recipe was buffed. A missing copper ingot to powder recipe was also added.[10]
      • It added a config flag to set spawner mobs using a soul vial. That flag is disabled by default.[10]
      • Its fixes include energy conduits ignoring redstone signals, solar panels with liquid sunshine or darkness not working when it isn't day or night, and the totemic capacitor (and other custom-behaviour capacitors) not being insertable.[10]

      9.0.3-alpha

This was a proper release of 9.0.3. An earlier 9.0.3 had been built from the 1.21.1 codebase. If you updated to that one in 1.21.1, the changelog says to drop back down to 8.2.8 or 8.2.9.[11]

      • Reworked inventory handling.[11]
      • Filter tooltips now show filter settings and slot contents, like the bundle does.[11]
      • Added connected textures for glass, changed the behaviour and texture of the vial of the void, and re-added the experience rod.[11]
      • Added soul bound tooltips to Jade for machines and solar panels.[11]
      • Fixed the wireless charger recipe and item conduits voiding items when the destination is nearly full.[11]
      • The stirling generator will no longer push full lava buckets to neighbors.[11]

      9.0.4-alpha

A bug fix release. It fixed a geore recipe crash, ghost slot logic, farming station tool usage and the travel anchor renderer.[12]

      9.0.5-alpha

This is the version in the pack. It increases the vacuum pickup range, improves fire crafting handling and lets fire water be used for fire crafting properly. It also fixes a crash caused by the coordinate selector on servers, and adds new translations.[13]

Watch out: Most of these changelogs list an experiment called The Ender IO, described as early work in progress at the time. Experiments are locked behind feature flags and shouldn't be enabled on your primary world.[8][9][10][11][13]
