What is Refined Storage?
2 parts
Refined Storage is a mass storage mod. It gives you a network-based storage system for items and fluids, and that network can grow very large. If your chests are overflowing and you're tired of hunting through them, this mod is for you.[1]
The idea is simple. You connect storage devices to the same network, and everything on it is reachable through one Grid interface. Instead of opening many inventories, you browse them all in a single GUI.[1]
More than storage
The mod also adds devices that move and manipulate items and blocks, both in the world and from within the system. The project page names importers, exporters, constructors and destructors, plus others. It also has devices for auto-crafting, so you can make complex recipes with a few clicks.[1]
Version in this pack
This pack includes Refined Storage 3.2.1, using the NeoForge build of the mod.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't say where Refined Storage fits in the pack's progression, and they show no quests or ATM Star path steps for it. Check the in-game recipes before planning your progression around it. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Refined Storage?
5 parts
Refined Storage turns your base into one network: you connect storage and devices together, then reach everything through a single screen. Your first goal is a small working network that can hold items and show them to you. Here are the first items to make, in a sensible order, with the real in-pack recipes.[1][3]
First: Controller, to power the network
Start with the Controller. You use one or several Controllers in a storage network to provide it with energy. A Controller that is inactive can't be used as an energy source by the network.[3]

Next: Cable, to connect everything
Next, make some Cable. You use it to connect devices to each other, but you can also place devices directly against each other.[3]

Then: Grid, to see your storage
The Grid is how you interact with your storage. Every storage device connected to the network is accessible through this one interface, so it's the screen you'll use most.[1][3]

Finally: Disk Drive and a storage disk
The network needs somewhere to keep items. The Disk Drive holds your storage disks, and a storage disk such as the 1k Storage Disk goes into the drive. Fluids work the same way: a Fluid Storage Disk, for example the 64B Fluid Storage Disk, goes into your Disk Drive. The recipes below show how to make the drive and the disk.[3][4]

The pack also has a second, shapeless recipe for the same disk that starts from a Storage Housing.[4]

Where to go next
- Upgrade your Grid to a Crafting Grid to get crafting abilities.[3]
- Use an Importer to get resources into the network and an Exporter to get them out.[3]
- Add an External Storage to give the network the storage of an external block like a chest.[3]
- When you want automation, create patterns in a Pattern Grid and use them with an Autocrafter.[3]
How does Refined Storage work?
4 parts
Refined Storage is built around a network. Every storage device you connect to the same network shows up in one Grid interface, so you can reach the contents of many inventories from a single GUI. Items and fluids can both be stored. The mod also adds devices that move items and blocks in and out of the network, plus autocrafting.[1]
Building a network
Every network starts with a Controller. You can use one or several, and they give the network its energy. A Controller also has a redstone mode: when it is inactive, the network can't use it as an energy source.[3]
You link devices with Cable, or you can place devices directly against each other. If you want to turn whole sections of the network on or off, or start a new branch, use a Relay. For a cable-free link, the mod has a Network Transmitter, a Network Receiver and a Network Card.[3]
The Security Manager protects the network. While it is active, it blocks all operations by default. You then add Security Cards to permit or deny specific operations for a player.[3]
Storage
Storage Disks hold your items and Fluid Storage Disks hold your fluids. Both go into a Disk Drive. A Disk Interface can transfer resources between the network and storage disks. If you want a chest or similar block to provide storage, an External Storage lets the network use it. A Portable Grid lets you open a disk's contents without needing a network at all.[3]
The pack has item disk tiers named 1k, 4k, 16k and 64k, such as the 1k Storage Disk and the 64k Storage Disk. Fluid disk tiers are named 64B, 256B, 1024B and 4096B, such as the 64B Fluid Storage Disk and the 4096B Fluid Storage Disk. Each tier also has a Storage Part and a Storage Block item, for example 1k Storage Part and 1k Storage Block.[4]
Every disk can be made with a shaped recipe, and also with a shapeless one named "from storage housing". Here are both for the 1k disk.[4]

Storage also has an access mode. Insert only means the network can only put things in, though the contents still show in a Grid. Extract only means the network can only take things out. Insert and extract allows both.[3]
Moving things in and out
- Importer: gets resources from a target inventory into the network. Its filter says what may be imported, and its mode can be allowlist or blocklist.[3]
- Exporter: gets resources out of the network. Its filter lists what should be exported.[3]
- Interface: exports and imports at the same time.[3]
- Constructor: places blocks from the network into the world. Its filter lists what should be placed.[3]
- Destructor: takes blocks from the world into the network. Its filter is an allowlist or a blocklist of blocks that may be destroyed.[3]
- Detector: uses redstone to check for a chosen resource in the network.[3]
- Disk Interface: moves resources between the network and the disks it holds. It can insert from the network into the disks, or from the disks into the network. Filters can be allowlist or blocklist.[3]
Filters have a fuzzy mode. With it off, the filter matches exactly. With it on, the filter matches while ignoring components.[3]
Autocrafting
Autocrafting starts with patterns made in a Pattern Grid. For a processing pattern, the input slots are the resources taken from the network and put into the target inventory. The output slots are the resources expected back in the network for the task to count as successful. The pattern grid's fuzzy mode matches inputs exactly when off, and when on it matches inputs and uses alternatives.[3]
The Autocrafter holds your patterns and runs the crafting. If one Autocrafter faces another, they form a chain, which lets you have more patterns going into a single machine. The GUI shows whether a given Autocrafter is the head of its chain or part of one.[3]
Crafting Shaped

The Autocrafter Manager gives you one central interface for your patterns. An Autocrafter only appears there if you enable its visible-to-the-manager option. The manager can show all autocrafters, only the visible ones, or only those that aren't full yet. You can search by pattern inputs, pattern outputs or autocrafter names.[3]

You can also autocraft on demand by putting an Autocrafting Upgrade in an Interface, Exporter or Constructor. When you request a craft, the preview screen has a max button that fills in the most you can craft right now without starting the task. It also has a notify option that alerts you when the task finishes. An Autocrafting Monitor shows your tasks, and a Wireless Autocrafting Monitor does the same remotely.[3]
How do you progress through Refined Storage?
4 parts
The pack's Refined Storage progression is shaped by its recipes, so this page follows those. You build a network, then climb the storage tiers, then add automation. Recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack ingredients.[4]
Unverified No quest for Refined Storage is shown in the sources here, so there is no quest-guided order on this page. If the pack's quest book has anything on the mod, that is where it would be told.
Network basics
The core of every network is the Controller, with Cable to connect things, a Disk Drive to hold your disks and a Grid to reach your items. The Machine Casing is part of the mod's recipes too. The exact in-pack recipes are shown below.[4]

Storage tiers
Item storage disks come in these sizes: 1k Storage Disk, 4k Storage Disk, 16k Storage Disk and 64k Storage Disk. Each size has a matching part and block, such as 1k Storage Part and 1k Storage Block.[4]
Fluid storage has its own tiers: 64B Fluid Storage Disk, 256B Fluid Storage Disk, 1024B Fluid Storage Disk and 4096B Fluid Storage Disk. These also have parts and blocks.[4]
Every disk size has a shapeless recipe that turns a Storage Housing into the disk. The 4k, 16k and 64k item tiers and the 256B, 1024B and 4096B fluid tiers also have upgrade recipes for both disks and blocks.[4]

Automation and extras
Moving items around is covered by the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor and External Storage, all of which have recipes in the pack.[4]
For autocrafting, the pack has recipes for the Autocrafter, Pattern, Pattern Grid and Autocrafting Monitor.[4]
For remote access there are the Wireless Grid, Wireless Transmitter and Portable Grid.[4]
Upgrades with recipes include the Speed Upgrade, Stack Upgrade, Range Upgrade and Autocrafting Upgrade. For access control there are the Security Manager and Security Card.[4]
How does Refined Storage work with other mods?
The one cross-mod link the pack's recipes confirm for Refined Storage is with Productive Bees. A Productive Bees centrifuge recipe outputs Quartz Enriched Iron alongside Wax.[4]
Centrifuge (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/refinedstorage/honeycomb_quartz_enriched_iron
This centrifuge recipe produces both Wax and Quartz Enriched Iron.
That makes the centrifuge a way to get a Refined Storage material from a bee-focused setup. Refined Storage itself is a network-based storage mod for items and fluids, so this is the only place in the sources where it meets another mod's items.[1][4]
What changed in Refined Storage between versions?
4 parts
All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Refined Storage 3.2.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.0.1 or earlier. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
3.2.x: autocrafting pins
- 3.2.1 fixes a minor rendering issue with the new autocrafting pins in the Grid.[5]
- 3.2.0 automatically pins the output of an autocrafting task to the Grid's pinned row when the task starts. If it is already pinned, that pin shows the autocrafting status instead of a duplicate being created.[6]
- While the task runs, hover over the resource to see its crafting progress. After it finishes, the pin stays until you reopen the Grid. Temporary autocrafting pins are then removed, while pins you set yourself stay.[6]
3.1.0: pinning in the Grid
- You can pin resources to the top of the Grid by dragging and dropping them. Drag a pin outside the pinned area to unpin it.[7]
- Fixed the search box highlight marking text as invalid when the cursor is inside the text.[7]
- Fixed autocrafting tasks started from a subnetwork not completing when the processing output is imported into the main network through a Relay that shares both autocrafting and storage.[7]
3.0.x: fixes after the release
- 3.0.5 lets you clear the configuration of a Regulator Upgrade by using it while crouching, and fixes the Security Manager not initializing correctly.[8]
- 3.0.4 fixes autocrafting reporting more resources than were available when a processing pattern was combined with allowed alternatives.[9]
- 3.0.0 fixes fuzzy crafting recipes in patterns causing a wrong expansion.[10]
The 3.0.0 betas
- The eighth beta stopped network device contents from being dropped and configuration from being cleared after recoloring. Recoloring recipes now account for existing dismantled device configuration, shift clicking upgrades into a device no longer also adds them to the filters, and a crash when another mod tried to extract a zero amount from an Interface is fixed.[11]
- The seventh beta fixed being locked out of the Autocrafting Monitor while certain processing tasks were running.[12]
- The sixth beta fixed energy items not being chargeable.[13]
- The fifth beta adapted to breaking NeoForge changes and requires NeoForge v26.1.2.22. It also fixed inactive creative energy items and the wrong autocrafter rotation for up and down.[14]
- The fourth beta added an option to run Refined Storage without energy. Controllers are not necessary in that case, creative variants of items are hidden, and items work without energy. It also stopped the energy capacity from being set to zero and fixed stonecutter patterns ignoring outputs larger than one.[15]
- The second beta fixed keybindings on Mac to always use CMD instead of CTRL, and fixed Grid scrolling between the grid and your inventory always going to the inventory.[16]
