What is Refined Types?
2 parts
Refined Types is an addon for Refined Storage. It adds support for FE, Source and Souls in various Refined Storage components, so your storage network can handle more than items and fluids.[1]
What it does
With this addon you can store, transfer, view and autocraft with these resources through Refined Storage components.[1]
- FE: Forge Energy, the energy resource.[1]
- Source: the resource from Ars Nouveau.[1]
- Souls: the resource from Industrial Foregoing: Souls.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Refined Types version 1.21.1-0.1.3. It has been part of the pack since version 4.6 or earlier, so it is a long-standing inclusion rather than a new one.[2]
Unverified Where the quest book places Refined Types is not shown by the sources here: no quest chapter or group involving this mod is listed, and it is not shown as part of the ATM Star path. There is also no in-jar guidebook to check.
How do you get started with Refined Types?
2 parts
Refined Types is a Refined Storage addon that adds support for FE, Source and Souls in various Refined Storage components. That means you can store, transfer, view and autocraft them, just like items. Souls come from Industrial Foregoing Souls and Source comes from Ars Nouveau.[1]
Your first goal is simple: get a storage disk for the resource you care about and put it in a Disk Drive. The mod's own advancements ask for exactly that, one each for energy, souls and sources.[3]
Your first steps, in order
- Pick the resource you want to store first: FE, Source or Souls. Each has its own line of parts, disks and blocks, with tiers such as 64K for Energy, 64B for Source and 1K for Soul.[1][4]
- Get the matching Storage Part for the tier you want. The disk and block recipes in the pack each use a part of the same type and tier.[4]
- Craft the Storage Disk from that part. The recipes below show one starter example per resource type. The pack changed these disk recipes, so use what the recipe blocks show, not the mod's defaults.[4]
- Put the disk in your Disk Drive. That is what completes the storing advancements for energy, souls and sources.[3]

Each line also has an Infinite version, such as the Infinite Energy Storage Block, which stores an infinite amount of its resource.[3][4]
How does Refined Types work?
5 parts
Refined Types is a Refined Storage addon. It adds support for FE, Source and Souls in various Refined Storage components, so you can store, transfer, view and autocraft them.[1]
Supported resource types
- FE.[1]
- Source, which comes from Ars Nouveau.[1]
- Souls, which come from Industrial Foregoing Souls.[1]
- Mana from Botania is only listed as planned, so don't count on it.[1]
Storage disks and storage blocks
Each resource type has its own storage disk. The mod's advancements tell you to craft an Energy, Soul or Source Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive.[3]
Each type also has a storage block version, and the tooltips show how much it holds. There is an infinite version of every disk and block, for FE, Soul and Source.[3]
You can upgrade a disk or a block to a higher tier by combining it with a storage part of the matching type. You can also recycle one. Use an empty disk while holding it to get its storage part back. An empty storage block gives you the storage part and the Machine Casing.[3]
Tiers
The recipes I can confirm show these block tiers. Energy: 64K, 256K, 1024K, 262144K and 1048576K. Source: 64B, 256B, 1024B, 262144B and 1048576B. Soul: 1K, 64K, 512K, 4096K, 32768K, 262144K and 2097152K.[4]
The mod's config tooltips also mention 8192K, 65536K and 8388608K Energy blocks and 8192B, 65536B and 8388608B Source blocks, so there are more tiers than the recipes shown here.[3]
Crafting the blocks
The pack changes the storage block recipes. In the recipes shown, each block is a shaped recipe built around the storage part of the same tier. Here is one example for each resource type.[4]

The 64K Energy Storage Part is the part used in the recipe for the 64K Energy Storage Block, and the same part is what you combine with a block to upgrade it.[3][4]
Energy and Source usage
The mod has options for the energy that each Energy Storage Block uses, and similar options for the source that each Source Storage Block uses. There is one option per tier, including the infinite ones.[3]
Unverified The pack's actual usage values are set in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show them because no config files for this mod were available.
How do you progress through Refined Types?
2 parts
Refined Types is a storage add-on, and its progression is a set of tier ladders. The pack's recipes decide what you need for each step, so this section walks through those ladders and shows how a tier is crafted.[4]
The tier ladders
The mod's storage comes in Source, Energy and Soul families. Each family climbs from a small starter tier up to an Infinite tier, and every tier has a Storage Part and a Storage Block.[4]
- Source: starts at 64B Source Storage Block, then goes through 256B, 1024B, 8192B, 65536B, 262144B and 1048576B, and reaches 8388608B Source Storage Block before Infinite Source Storage Block.[4]
- Energy: starts at 64K Energy Storage Block, then goes through 256K, 1024K, 8192K, 65536K, 262144K and 1048576K, and reaches 8388608K Energy Storage Block before Infinite Energy Storage Block.[4]
- Soul: starts at 1K Soul Storage Block, then goes through 8K, 64K, 512K, 4096K, 32768K and 262144K, and reaches 2097152K Soul Storage Block before Infinite Soul Storage Block.[4]
How each tier is crafted
The block and disk recipes shown for these tiers are all marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. They follow a common pattern: a tier's block or disk is built from that same tier's Storage Part. That means you work up the ladder one step at a time, because each step needs the matching part.[4]
Here's the starter Source tier as the example. The block recipe comes first, followed by the disk recipe.[4]

How does Refined Types work with other mods?
4 parts
Refined Types is an addon for Refined Storage, so almost everything it does is tied to that mod. It adds FE, Source and Souls as resource types you can store, transfer, view and autocraft through Refined Storage components. Source comes from Ars Nouveau and Souls from Industrial Foregoing Souls.[1]
Refined Storage: the backbone
Every Refined Types storage disk shown in the recipes is made from a storage part plus a Storage Housing. That covers the Energy, Source and Soul lines. The pack changed the Source and Soul disk recipes. The Energy disk recipes shown are the mod's own.[4]

Processors and metal blocks gate the tiers
Each bigger part is made from the previous size, a Refined Storage processor and a storage block of a metal, plus a redstone block. The pack changed all of these upgrade recipes.[4]
- Basic Processor with a gold block makes the 256B Source and 256K Energy parts.[4]
- Improved Processor with a gold block makes the 1024B Source, 1024K Energy and 64K Soul parts.[4]
- Advanced Processor with an emerald block makes the Source parts from 262144B up, the Energy parts from 262144K up, and the 32768K and 262144K Soul parts.[4]
- The 512K and 4096K Soul parts use the Advanced Processor with a diamond block, and the 2097152K Soul part uses it with a netherite block.[4]

Industrial Foregoing Souls
The project page names Industrial Foregoing Souls as the mod behind the Soul resource type. The recipes shown here do not include an Industrial Foregoing Souls item.[1][4]
What changed in Refined Types between versions?
The history of Refined Types in this pack is short. It arrived in All the Mods 10 4.6 as version 1.21.1-0.1.1 and was updated in the next release.[5][6]
- All the Mods 10 4.6: Refined Types was added at version 1.21.1-0.1.1.[6]
- All the Mods 10 4.7: Refined Types was updated from 1.21.1-0.1.1 to 1.21.1-0.1.3.[5]
- All the Mods 10 4.10: the pack includes Refined Types 1.21.1-0.1.3 (refined-types-1.21.1-0.1.3.jar), the same version that 4.7 updated to.[2][5]
Unverified What actually changed inside Refined Types between 1.21.1-0.1.1 and 1.21.1-0.1.3 is unverified. The pack changelogs only record the version bump, and no changelogs for the shipped jars are stored, so the sources here show no confirmed list of fixes or features.
