What is Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez is the pack's simple logistics mod. It adds highly configurable pipes that are designed to create as little lag as possible. The pack ships Pipez 1.21.1-1.2.31 for NeoForge.[1][2]
What you get
- Item Pipe moves items from one inventory to another, for example from a farm to a system or from a quarry to a smelter.[3]
- Fluid Pipe moves fluids such as water and lava.[3]
- Energy Pipe moves energy and doesn't care which kind it is.[3]
- Gas Pipe exists because of Mekanism, and it's the only Pipez pipe that can move gases.[1][3]
- Universal Pipe combines the features of the other pipes in one pipe. You pick which type to configure with the tabs in its GUI.[1]
Who it's for
If you want logistics without a complicated setup, this is for you. The pack's quest book calls Pipez the simplest logistics mod. It also says that, although mass use can get laggy, Pipez is still not as laggy as Mekanism pipes.[3]
Pipes don't transfer anything until you set them to extract. To do that, sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with the Pipe Wrench. Clicking the extracting part afterwards lets you change modes, add filters or add upgrades.[1][4]
Upgrades
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and upgrades are the only way to speed them up. Higher tiers mean a higher transfer rate. The pack has Basic, Improved, Advanced and Ultimate upgrades: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade and Ultimate Pipe Upgrade. Filters can also be limited to one destination with the Filter Destination Tool.[1][3]
Unverified The Pipez project page and the pack's quest text disagree on which upgrade tier unlocks redstone modes, distribution modes and filters. Check in-game before you plan a build around a specific tier.
Where it fits in the pack
You meet Pipez early. In the first chapter, Energy Pipes are suggested as a way to get power out of your generators, alongside Powah cables. The Basic Logistics chapter starts with "Pipez" quest and branches into the individual pipe types. "Universal Pipez" quest comes after the fluid, item and energy pipes. Energy Pipes and upgrades also appear in the Basic Power chapter, and the XyCraft chapter accepts Pipez fluid or universal pipes for the "Pipes" quest quest.[3][4][5][6]
How do you get started with Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez is the simplest logistics mod in the pack, and you only need a few items to get going. Here's the order I'd make things in, and why.[3]
Step one: the Pipe Wrench
The Pipe Wrench is what makes every pipe work, so craft it before anything else. Pipes don't transfer anything until a side is set to extract, and you do that by sneak-clicking the end of a connected pipe with the wrench. Sneak-clicking with the wrench also disconnects and reconnects pipes. Other wrenches work with Pipez too.[1][3]

Step two: pick the pipe for what you're moving
Start with the Item Pipe. It moves items from one inventory to another, for example chest to chest, a farm into your system, or a quarry into a smelter. Connect the pipes to the inventories you want, then use the wrench to choose which side pulls.[3]

Once items work, the other types follow the same idea. The Fluid Pipe moves fluids such as water and lava.[3]

The Energy Pipe is a good early pick for getting power out of your generators, and the pack's early quests point you to it for that job.[5]

To pull power out of a block, place the pipe next to it, then shift+right-click the connected side with the wrench to set it to extract. Some machines have strict IO ports for energy, so check which side accepts it.[3][4]
Step three: add upgrades when pipes feel slow
By default pipes are relatively slow, and upgrades are the way to speed them up. Higher tiers of upgrades mean a higher transfer rate. The Basic Pipe Upgrade is the entry point, and it also unlocks redstone modes.[1][3]

Step four: filters, gas and the Universal Pipe
When you want filtering, you need at least an Advanced Pipe Upgrade. With one installed, click the Add button to add a filter by item, tag or NBT, and set it to whitelist or blacklist. To send a filter to one specific inventory, craft the Filter Destination Tool and shift+right-click that inventory with it.[1][3]

The Gas Pipe is for Mekanism gases such as Hydrogen, which no other Pipez type can move. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own version, so follow the recipe below rather than any outside guide.[3][7]

How does Pipez work?
7 parts
Pipez is all about moving things from A to B without lag. In this pack you get Item Pipe, Fluid Pipe, Energy Pipe and Gas Pipe. The gas pipe works with Mekanism. The Universal Pipe combines all four in one block. Everything is set up through a wrench and upgrades, so let's go through how it works.[1]

Pipes only move things when they extract
This catches a lot of people out: a pipe doesn't transfer anything unless it is set to extract. The mod also keeps lag low on purpose. Only extracting pipes have block entities, and pipes don't load unnecessary chunks.[1]
- Craft a Pipe Wrench and connect your pipes between the source and the destination.[1][7]
- Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with the wrench to set it to extract.[1]
- Click the extracting part of the pipe to change modes, add filters or add upgrades.[1]
- To disconnect or reconnect a pipe side, sneak-click it with the wrench.[1]

The wrench's in-game tooltip says to click on a pipe to configure it.[8]
Speed and upgrades
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and you raise the speed by adding an upgrade. A higher upgrade tier means a higher transfer rate. The pipe's tooltip shows its current rate: FE per tick for energy, mB per tick for fluids and gas, and a number of items per a number of ticks for item pipes.[1][8]
The mod has five upgrade tiers: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade, Ultimate Pipe Upgrade and Infinity. The mod describes Infinity as not craftable by default. The recipes for the other four are shown below.[1][7]

Upgrades also unlock features, so a bare pipe can't do everything:[1]
- Basic Pipe Upgrade: redstone modes (ignore, on when powered, off when powered).[1][7]
- Improved Pipe Upgrade: distribution modes (round robin, nearest first, furthest first, random).[1][7]
- Advanced Pipe Upgrade: filter modes and filters.[1][7]
Every setting you change and every filter you add is stored in the upgrade itself. To copy that data onto other upgrades, craft them together.[1]
Filters
Filters work with item pipes, fluid pipes and gas pipes. You can combine several filters on one pipe, and each filter can be a blacklist or whitelist. Filters can also be inverted with the paper button, which makes the filter apply to the exact opposite of what you entered (the destination stays the same). Filters can be copied, and the filter GUI offers tag filtering.[1]
- To add a specific object, click it onto the slot in the filter GUI, or type its ID in the text field next to the slot.[1]
- Tag entries are written with a # prefix, or you can use plain item IDs.[8]
- If the object has NBT data, the NBT string appears in a second text area. Delete that text if you don't want to match NBT.[1]
- The NBT button switches between matching the exact NBT data and matching only the tags you provided.[1][8]
- Some entry types can't have NBT tags at all, and the GUI tells you so.[8]
Per-filter destinations
A filter can apply to only one destination. For this you need the Filter Destination Tool. Click the block your pipe inserts into to store its location and face. Then put the tool in the destination slot of the filter GUI, and the destination block shows up in the filter list.[1][7][8]

Why Pipez is so light
The mod claims efficient rendering and a server-friendly design. Its project page compares Pipez item pipes against Mekanism's logistical transporters at about 4200 and about 7200 pipes. It says Mekanism's recursive connection algorithm crashes with a stack overflow at the larger size. That is the mod author's own claim, so I haven't tested it in this pack.[1]
How do you progress through Pipez?
6 parts
Pipez progression is short and easy to follow. You start with the Pipe Wrench, pick the pipe type for what you want to move, and then upgrade the pipes so they move more. The pack's Basic Logistics chapter starts with the quest "Pipez" quest, and every other Pipez quest there branches off it.[3]
Step 1: The wrench
The wrench is how you set each side of a pipe to pull, push, or not connect. The quest also says other wrenches work with Pipez.[3]

Step 2: Pick your pipe type
Each pipe type has its own quest, and all of them unlock after the first Pipez quest. The Item Pipe moves items between inventories, such as a farm into a system or a quarry into a smelter. The Fluid Pipe moves fluids. The Energy Pipe moves energy.[3]

Energy pipes show up early in the pack. The first chapter suggests them as one way to get power out of your generators, next to Powah cables and EnderIO conduits. The Basic Power chapter has its own energy pipe quest, "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest. It tells you to shift+right-click the connected side with the wrench to set the pipe to extract.[4][5]
Gas pipes
The Gas Pipe exists for Mekanism gases such as Hydrogen or Lithium. The quest says none of the other Pipez can move gas. The pack changes this recipe from the mod's own, so follow the one shown here.[3][7]

The Universal Pipe
The Universal Pipe is the all-in-one option. Its quest, "Universal Pipez" quest, unlocks after the Fluid, Item and Energy Pipez quests. It describes the pipe as moving items, fluids, or energy. The recipe uses one each of the energy, fluid and item pipes, so you build it after you have all three.[3][7]

Step 3: Upgrade tiers
There are four upgrade tiers: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade and Ultimate Pipe Upgrade. The upgrade quests are a quest in "Basic Logistics" in Basic Logistics and "Pipez: Upgrades" quest in Basic Power. They accept any of the four. Every upgrade makes the pipe move more.[3][4]
- Basic: unlocks Redstone activation, the distribution modes (Closest First, Farthest First, Round-Robin, Random), and filters, according to the upgrade quests.[3][4]
- Improved, Advanced and Ultimate: nothing new, they just move more.[3][4]
- Each upgrade is crafted starting from the one below it, so you go through the tiers in order.[7]

Filtering
The filter quest, a quest in "Basic Logistics", says that once an upgrade is in you can click the Add button to add filters. A filter can be an item, a tag, or NBT. You can also set a destination filter with the Filter Destination Tool by shift+right-clicking an inventory. Choose Whitelist to move only the filter, or Blacklist to move everything but the filter.[3]

Unverified The filter quest says you need at least an Advanced Upgrade for filtering, but the upgrade quests say the Basic Upgrade already lets you add filters. The sources don't settle which is right in this pack, so test it in-game.
How does Pipez work with other mods?
5 parts
Pipez is a small logistics mod, but the pack ties it into several other mods through its quests and one changed recipe. Here is where it overlaps with the rest of your setup.[1][3]
Mekanism: Gas Pipes
The Gas Pipe only exists because of Mekanism. The quest "Gas Pipez" quest explains that gas can't be moved by any other Pipez, so if you want to move something like Hydrogen or Lithium, this is the pipe you need.[1][3]
The pack changed the Gas Pipe recipe, so it is crafted differently from the mod default. It uses a Mekanism material, which is why you will want to have Mekanism going first. This is the exact in-pack recipe:[7]

Moving power next to Powah, Mekanism and EnderIO
In the early game quest a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning", the pack offers Energy Pipe as one way to carry power away from your generators. The same quest accepts Mekanism's basic universal cable or Powah's basic energy cable instead, and mentions that the pack also has EnderIO, with its Energy Conduits as another option.[5]
Energy Pipes don't care what kind of energy they carry, but some machines have strict energy IO ports, so check those when something won't connect. See "Energy Pipez" quest for the details.[3]
Fluid pipes and the XyCraft Hydro Pump
In the XyCraft quest "Pipes" quest, you pipe liquids from a Hydro Pump into a tank. The quest accepts Fluid Pipe or Universal Pipe for this, and it also accepts Modern Dynamics, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering fluid pipes. So you can stay with Pipez here if you like.[6]
Wrenches from other mods
You configure pipes with the Pipe Wrench, but the quests say that other wrenches work with Pipez as well. If you already carry a wrench from another mod, you can use it.[3][4]
Universal Pipes
The quest "Universal Pipez" quest describes the Universal Pipe as moving items, fluids or energy.[3]
Unverified The Pipez project page describes Universal Pipes as all four pipe types in one, which would include gas, but the in-pack quest only lists items, fluids and energy. Whether a Universal Pipe moves Mekanism gas in this pack is not confirmed by the sources.
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez shows up in four quest chapters in this pack. The main one is Basic Logistics, which covers the whole mod. The other three only touch it briefly: Chapter 1: The Beginning, Basic Power and XyCraft.[3][4][5][6]
Chapter 1: The Beginning
Your first contact comes early. Quest a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning" unlocks after the Redstone quest and is about getting power out of your generators. It accepts any one of these items: a Mekanism basic universal cable, the Energy Pipe, or a basic Powah energy cable. The quest text points you to Pipez Energy Pipes first, then Powah cables, and also mentions EnderIO Energy Conduits.[5]
Basic Power
This chapter has Pipez quests in a row. "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest comes after the Transferring Power quest and asks for the Energy Pipe and the Pipe Wrench. To pull power out of a block, place the pipe next to it. Then shift+right-click the connected side with the wrench to set that side to extract. The quest also mentions the Universal Pipe as an all-in-one option, and says other wrenches work with Pipez too.[4]
"Pipez: Upgrades" quest follows it and accepts any one of the four upgrades: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade or Ultimate Pipe Upgrade. Every upgrade makes the pipes move more. The Basic Upgrade unlocks Redstone activation, the distribution modes (Closest First, Farthest First, Round-Robin or Random) and filters. The other upgrades only increase throughput.[4]
Basic Logistics
This is the full Pipez chapter. It starts with one root quest, and almost everything else branches from it.[3]
- "Pipez" quest is the starting point and asks for the Pipe Wrench. Attach a pipe where you want to move things, then use the wrench to set each side to pull, push or not connect.[3]
- "Item Pipez" quest asks for the Item Pipe, which moves items from one inventory to another.[3]
- "Fluid Pipez" quest asks for the Fluid Pipe.[3]
- "Energy Pipez" quest asks for the Energy Pipe. The quest warns that some machines have strict energy IO ports, so check those.[3]
- "Gas Pipez" quest asks for the Gas Pipe. Gases such as Hydrogen can't be moved by the other pipes.[3]
- a quest in "Basic Logistics" asks for any one of the four upgrades and covers the same ground as the upgrade quest in Basic Power.[3]
- a quest in "Basic Logistics" asks for the Filter Destination Tool. It covers filtering by item, tag or NBT, setting a destination by shift+right-clicking an inventory, and choosing whitelist or blacklist.[3]
- "Universal Pipez" quest asks for the Universal Pipe, which moves items, fluids or energy. It only unlocks after the Fluid, Item and Energy quests are done.[3]
The item, fluid, energy, gas, upgrade and filter quests all unlock straight after the root Pipez quest, so you can do them in any order. Only the Universal Pipe quest has extra requirements.[3]
XyCraft
"Pipes" quest comes after Fluid Storage and Manipulation. It asks for the XyCraft Hydro Pump plus one pipe from a list. The list includes the Pipez Fluid Pipe and Universal Pipe, along with fluid pipes from other mods. You need pipes to get liquids into the tank. The quest says the Hydro Pump can automatically put water into them at a slow rate, for free.[6]
What changed in Pipez between versions?
1 part
Pipez has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 1.21.1-1.2.31 of Pipez.[2]
Pack release changes
- All the Mods 10 7.2: Pipez was updated from 1.21.1-1.2.19 to 1.21.1-1.2.31. That is the version you still get in 8.1.[2][9]
The pack has not changed Pipez since 7.2, as far as the sources show, because 8.1 still lists the same 1.21.1-1.2.31 build.[2][9]
Unverified What changed inside Pipez between 1.2.19 and 1.2.31 (new features, fixes or balance changes) is unverified. No changelogs for the shipped jars are available, so this section lists version numbers only.
