What is Pipez?
2 parts
Pipez adds simple, highly configurable pipes that are built to cause as little lag as possible. There are Item Pipe, Fluid Pipe, Energy Pipe and Gas Pipe (the gas pipe is there for Mekanism). There is also the Universal Pipe, which combines all four types in one. This pack includes Pipez 1.2.31.[1][2]
The key rule is that a pipe does nothing until you set it to extract. Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with the Pipe Wrench to make it pull from that side. Sneak-clicking with a wrench also disconnects or reconnects a pipe. The quests say other wrenches work with Pipez too.[1][3][4]
Pipez is for you if you want logistics without a big learning curve. The pack's quest book calls it the simplest logistics mod. It says Pipez can get laggy in huge numbers, but still not as laggy as Mekanism pipes.[3]
Where it fits in the pack
- Basic Logistics chapter: start with the "Pipez" quest quest. It unlocks "Item Pipez" quest, "Fluid Pipez" quest, "Energy Pipez" quest, "Gas Pipez" quest and the upgrades quest. "Universal Pipez" quest comes after the fluid, item and energy quests.[3]
- Basic Power chapter: "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest follows the Transferring Power quest and shows how to pull power out of a block. "Pipez: Upgrades" quest comes next.[4]
- XyCraft chapter: the "Pipes" quest quest accepts Fluid Pipe or Universal Pipe, alongside other mods' fluid pipes, for moving liquids.[5]
Upgrades and filters
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and adding an upgrade increases their speed. Higher upgrade tiers move more. The pack's quests cover four tiers: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade and Ultimate Pipe Upgrade. Filters need at least an Advanced upgrade, and the Filter Destination Tool lets you limit a filter to a specific destination.[1][3]
Unverified The pack's upgrade quest text says the Basic upgrade already unlocks redstone modes, distribution modes and filters. The mod's own page spreads these over Basic, Improved and Advanced. Check the upgrade GUI in game to confirm which tier unlocks what.
How do you get started with Pipez?
5 parts
Pipez is the simple logistics mod in this pack, and the quest book treats it that way: you place pipes, then use a wrench to tell each side what to do. Here's the order I'd go in. It all starts with the quest "Pipez" quest.[3]
Make the Pipe Wrench first
The Pipe Wrench is the quest's starting task, and nothing else works properly without it. Pipes don't transfer anything until a side is set to extract. You do that by sneak-clicking the end of a connected pipe with the wrench. Sneak-clicking with it also disconnects or reconnects pipe sides. The quest book says other mods' wrenches work with Pipez too.[1][3][4]

Start with an Item Pipe
The Item Pipe is the easiest way to learn the system. It moves items from one inventory to another, for example from a chest to another chest or from a farm into your system. Connect the pipes to the inventories you care about, then use the wrench to choose which side pulls.[3]

Once a pipe is extracting, click the extracting part of it to change modes, add filters or add upgrades.[1]
Add the pipe type you need
- Fluid Pipe moves fluids such as water and lava. The quest book points out you can hook it up to sinks for infinite water.[3]
- Energy Pipe moves energy and doesn't care whether it's FE, RF or something else. Some machines only accept energy through specific IO ports, so check those.[3]
- Gas Pipe is for Mekanism gases like hydrogen, which no other Pipez pipe can carry.[3]

The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default.
Fluid pipes are also useful outside Pipez itself. The XyCraft Hydro Pump quest "Pipes" quest accepts a Fluid Pipe or a Universal Pipe for getting water into a tank.[5]
Get a Basic Pipe Upgrade
Pipes are slow by default, and only upgrades speed them up. Basic Pipe Upgrade is your first one. The pack's upgrade quests say every upgrade raises how much the pipe moves and unlocks more options. Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade and Ultimate Pipe Upgrade then just move more. You'll find them in the quest "Pipez: Upgrades" quest and in the matching upgrade quest in the logistics chapter.[1][3][4]

The pack's upgrade quest text says the Basic Upgrade unlocks redstone activation, the distribution modes and filters. The filter quest in the pack, though, asks for at least an Advanced Upgrade before filters are available, so plan on the Advanced Upgrade for filtering.[3][4]
Filters and the Universal Pipe
When you're ready to filter, put an Advanced Upgrade in and click the Add button. You can filter by item, tag or NBT, and set the filter to whitelist or blacklist. To limit a filter to one destination, make the Filter Destination Tool and Shift Right Click the inventory with it.[3][7]

Last, the Universal Pipe combines pipe types in one, so you don't have to run separate lines. The mod's project page says it has the features of every other pipe, and you pick which type to configure using the tabs in its GUI. The pack's quest for it, "Universal Pipez" quest, unlocks after the Fluid, Item and Energy Pipez quests.[1][3]

How does Pipez work?
7 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Pipez is all about moving things from A to B without lag. In this pack you get Item Pipe, Fluid Pipe, Energy Pipe and Gas Pipe. The gas pipe works with Mekanism. The Universal Pipe combines all four in one block. Everything is set up through a wrench and upgrades, so let's go through how it works.[1]

Pipes only move things when they extract
This catches a lot of people out: a pipe doesn't transfer anything unless it is set to extract. The mod also keeps lag low on purpose. Only extracting pipes have block entities, and pipes don't load unnecessary chunks.[1]
- Craft a Pipe Wrench and connect your pipes between the source and the destination.[1][8]
- Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with the wrench to set it to extract.[1]
- Click the extracting part of the pipe to change modes, add filters or add upgrades.[1]
- To disconnect or reconnect a pipe side, sneak-click it with the wrench.[1]

Speed and upgrades
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and you raise the speed by adding an upgrade. A higher upgrade tier means a higher transfer rate. The pipe's tooltip shows its current rate: FE per tick for energy, mB per tick for fluids and gas, and a number of items per a number of ticks for item pipes.[1][9]
The mod has five upgrade tiers: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade, Ultimate Pipe Upgrade and Infinity. The mod describes Infinity as not craftable by default. The recipes for the other four are shown below.[1][8]

Upgrades also unlock features, so a bare pipe can't do everything:[1]
- Basic Pipe Upgrade: redstone modes (ignore, on when powered, off when powered).[1][8]
- Improved Pipe Upgrade: distribution modes (round robin, nearest first, furthest first, random).[1][8]
- Advanced Pipe Upgrade: filter modes and filters.[1][8]
Every setting you change and every filter you add is stored in the upgrade itself. To copy that data onto other upgrades, craft them together.[1]
Filters
Filters work with item pipes, fluid pipes and gas pipes. You can combine several filters on one pipe, and each filter can be a blacklist or whitelist. Filters can also be inverted with the paper button, which makes the filter apply to the exact opposite of what you entered (the destination stays the same). Filters can be copied, and the filter GUI offers tag filtering.[1]
- To add a specific object, click it onto the slot in the filter GUI, or type its ID in the text field next to the slot.[1]
- Tag entries are written with a # prefix, or you can use plain item IDs.[9]
- If the object has NBT data, the NBT string appears in a second text area. Delete that text if you don't want to match NBT.[1]
- The NBT button switches between matching the exact NBT data and matching only the tags you provided.[1][9]
- Some entry types can't have NBT tags at all, and the GUI tells you so.[9]
Per-filter destinations
A filter can apply to only one destination. For this you need the Filter Destination Tool. Click the block your pipe inserts into to store its location and face. Then put the tool in the destination slot of the filter GUI, and the destination block shows up in the filter list.[1][8][9]

Why Pipez is so light
The mod claims efficient rendering and a server-friendly design. Its project page compares Pipez item pipes against Mekanism's logistical transporters at about 4200 and about 7200 pipes. It says Mekanism's recursive connection algorithm crashes with a stack overflow at the larger size. That is the mod author's own claim, so I haven't tested it in this pack.[1]
How do you progress through Pipez?
4 parts
In the pack, Pipez progression is simple: grab the Pipe Wrench, pick the pipe type for whatever you are moving, then add upgrades so the pipes move more and give you more options. The Basic Logistics quest "Pipez" quest is the starting point, and the individual pipe quests and the upgrade quest all come after it.[3]
Step 1: The Pipe Wrench
Attach a pipe to what you want to move from or to, then use the wrench to set each connected side to pull, push, or not connect. The quests also say other wrenches work with Pipez.[3]

Step 2: Choose your pipe type
- Item Pipe moves items from one inventory to another, for example chest to chest or a farm to a system. Set which side it pulls from with the wrench.[3]
- Fluid Pipe moves fluids such as water and lava, and can be connected to sinks to move infinite water.[3]
- Gas Pipe is there mostly because of Mekanism. Gas can't be moved by the other Pipez, so you need these for things like Hydrogen or Lithium.[3]
- Energy Pipe just moves energy. The quest warns that some machines have strict IO ports for energy, so check those.[3]
- Universal Pipe is the all-in-one pipe: it can move items, fluids or energy. Its quest "Universal Pipez" quest comes after the Fluid, Item and Energy Pipez quests.[3]
If you meet Pipez through the Basic Power chapter instead, the energy pipe quest "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest comes after the Transferring Power quest. It tells you to place the pipe next to the block, then shift+right-click the connected side with the wrench to set it to extract.[4]

Step 3: Upgrades
The upgrade quests are a quest in "Basic Logistics" and "Pipez: Upgrades" quest. All upgrades increase how much the pipes move and give you more options. The Basic Pipe Upgrade is described as allowing Redstone activation, the distribution modes (Closest First, Farthest First, Round-Robin, Random) and filters. The Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade and Ultimate Pipe Upgrade add nothing new, they just move more.[3][4]
The tiers also chain together in crafting: each upgrade from Improved upwards is made using the previous tier's upgrade.[6]

How does Pipez work with other mods?
4 parts
Pipez is a small logistics mod, but in this pack it plugs into several other mods. The clearest link is Mekanism, and there is also a quest that pairs Pipez with XyCraft's water pump.[3][5]
Mekanism: gas transport
The Gas Pipe exists mostly because of Mekanism. The quest explains that gas is the last state of matter Mekanism adds, and none of the other Pipez can move it. If you need to move something like hydrogen or lithium, you need gas pipes. The project page also lists Gas Pipes as the Mekanism-dependent pipe type.[1][3]
The pack has changed the Gas Pipe recipe, and it uses a Mekanism material. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[6]

XyCraft: feeding fluids into pipes
The XyCraft quest "Pipes" asks you to pair the Hydro Pump with a pipe so liquids can reach a tank. The Hydro Pump can put water into pipes automatically, at a slow rate, for free. The quest accepts a Fluid Pipe or a Universal Pipe. It equally accepts Modern Dynamics, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering pipes, so you can pick whichever pipe system you prefer.[5]
Wrenches and machines from other mods
- Other mods' wrenches work with Pipez as well as the Pipe Wrench, so you don't need to carry a dedicated one.[3][4]
- Energy pipes just move energy, whether it's FE, RF or something else. Some machines have strict IO ports for energy, so check which sides accept it.[3]
- Item pipes can link any inventories. The quest gives examples like a chest to a chest, a farm to a system, or a quarry to a smelter.[3]
Universal pipes and gas
The project page describes the Universal Pipe as all four pipe types in one, which includes gas. The pack's quest text only mentions items, fluids and energy for it.[1][3]
Unverified Whether the Universal Pipe carries Mekanism gases in this pack is not confirmed by the pack's own quest text.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez shows up in three quest chapters: Basic Logistics, Basic Power and XyCraft. Basic Logistics is where the mod is introduced, so start there.[3][4][5]
Basic Logistics
This chapter holds nearly the whole mod on one page. It opens with "Pipez" quest, which asks for the Pipe Wrench. The quest explains that you attach a pipe to where you want to move things, then use the wrench to set which side pulls, pushes or doesn't connect. It also says other wrenches work with Pipez.[3]
Every other quest in the chapter unlocks after that first one. These are the quests that follow it:[3]
- "Item Pipez" quest asks for the Item Pipe, which moves items from one inventory to another.[3]
- "Fluid Pipez" quest asks for the Fluid Pipe, for moving fluids such as water and lava.[3]
- "Gas Pipez" quest asks for the Gas Pipe. Gases can't be moved by the other pipes, and the quest says these pipes exist mostly because of Mekanism.[3]
- "Energy Pipez" quest asks for the Energy Pipe. It warns that some machines have strict IO ports for energy, so check those.[3]
- a quest in "Basic Logistics" asks for any one of the Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade or Ultimate Pipe Upgrade.[3]
- a quest in "Basic Logistics" asks for the Filter Destination Tool and covers Pipez filtering.[3]
The last quest in the chapter is "Universal Pipez" quest, which asks for the Universal Pipe. It unlocks only after the Fluid, Item and Energy quests are done. The quest says it can move items, fluids or energy.[3]
Upgrades and filters
The upgrade quest says every upgrade increases how much the pipes move and adds more options. The Basic Upgrade allows redstone activation, changing the distribution mode (Closest First, Farthest First, Round-Robin or Random) and adding filters. The Improved, Advanced and Ultimate upgrades add nothing new and just move more.[3]
The filter quest says that once an upgrade is installed you click the Add button to add filters by item, tag or NBT. You then set a destination by shift-right-clicking an inventory with the filter destination tool, and choose whitelist or blacklist.[3]
Unverified The filter quest says you need at least an Advanced Upgrade to use filters, while the upgrade quest says the Basic Upgrade already lets you add filters. The sources don't settle which is correct in this pack, so test it in-game.
Basic Power
This chapter has two Pipez quests. "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest unlocks after the quest called Transferring Power and asks for the Energy Pipe and the Pipe Wrench. To extract power from a block, place the pipe next to it, then shift-right-click the connected side with the wrench to set it to extract.[4]
The next quest, "Pipez: Upgrades" quest, unlocks after it and asks for any one of the four pipe upgrades. It repeats the upgrade explanation from the Logistics chapter.[4]
XyCraft
Pipez only appears as an option in one XyCraft quest. "Pipes" quest unlocks after Fluid Storage and Manipulation. It asks for the Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe, and the Fluid Pipe and Universal Pipe both count, alongside fluid pipes from other mods. The quest says you need pipes to get liquids into the tank, and that the Hydro Pump can put water into them for free at a slow rate.[5]
What changed in Pipez between versions?
Pipez has been part of All the Mods 10: To the Sky since version 1.0 or earlier, and 2.0.4 ships with Pipez 1.21.1-1.2.31.[2]
The only changelog entry I have for that version is that it added compatibility with sable. That's all the sources say about it, so I can't tell you what else changed in this release.[10]
There are no pack changelog entries for Pipez, so I can't point to any pack-level changes to the mod across releases.[2]
