What is Mining Gadgets?
1 part
Mining Gadgets is a tool mod, and this pack ships version 1.18.6 of it. It has been in the pack since 0.32 or earlier, so it's an established part of the mod list.[1]
The mod gives you the Mining Gadget in three tiers: Mining Gadget MK1 (MK1), Mining Gadget MK2 (MK2) and Mining Gadget MK3 (MK3).[2]
Where it fits in progression
The gadget shows up early, in the "basic_tools" quest chapter. The quest a quest in "?" accepts any of the three tiers for its task, so you can finish it with whichever one you get first. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[2]
Because the quest takes any tier, you don't have to build all three to move on. That makes it a good choice if you want a handy tool early without committing to a long upgrade chain.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't cover how the gadget works, its recipes, its configs, or whether this pack changed any of the mod's defaults. Treat those details as unconfirmed until they are checked in-game. The sources also don't show Mining Gadgets on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Mining Gadgets?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Mining Gadgets is built around one handheld tool that you customize with upgrade modules. In this pack almost everything starts from one item, so here's the order I'd go in.[3]
Step one: craft a Blank Upgrade Module
The Blank Upgrade Module is an ingredient in all three gadgets, in the Modification Table and in most of the upgrades. The pack adds its own recipe for it, so check the recipe below rather than relying on what you remember from other packs.[3]
Step two: make your first Mining Gadget
Next, craft the Mining Gadget MK1. The quest a quest in "?" in the Basic Tools chapter is completed by having any of the three gadgets, so MK1, MK2 or MK3 all count.[3][4]

Step three: build the Modification Table
Upgrades go into the gadget through the Modification Table. On its screen you can shift-click upgrades in from your inventory or drop them onto the screen, and you click an installed upgrade to remove it. Make the table before you start crafting upgrades, so you can install them right away.[3][5]

Step four: craft your first upgrades
Two simple upgrades to start with are Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 and Upgrade: Magnet. Both use the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[3]

How does Mining Gadgets work?
5 parts
The sources for this mod centre on one handheld tool, the Mining Gadget MK3, and the Modification Table where you fit upgrades to it. So this section is about how the gadget spends its power and how upgrades change that.[5][6][7]
Power budget
The gadget stores up to 1,000,000 power (power.mining_gadget.maxPower), and breaking a block has a base cost of 200 (power.mining_gadget.baseCost). Both are the mod's default values, and the pack hasn't changed them.[6]
The gadget's tooltip shows a "Per Block Cost" line, which is the quickest way to check what each block costs you with your current setup. Hold shift on the item to see which upgrades are installed.[5]
Battery upgrades
The three battery upgrades raise the gadget's capacity. Tier 1 (Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1) gives a boost of 2,000,000, Tier 2 (Upgrade: Battery, Tier 2) gives 5,000,000 and Tier 3 (Upgrade: Battery, Tier 3) gives 10,000,000. These are the config options power.upgrades.battery1, power.upgrades.battery2 and power.upgrades.battery3, all at mod defaults in this pack.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say whether battery boosts add together when several are installed, or how the gadget is recharged (which power systems or chargers work with it).
Per-block upgrade costs
Most other upgrades have their own per-block cost in the config. The pack leaves every one of these at the mod default.[6]
- Efficiency: Tier 1 to Tier 5 cost 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 per block (Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 through Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 5). The options are power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency1 to power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency5.[6]
- Fortune: Tier 1, 2 and 3 cost 30, 60 and 100 per block (Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1, Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 2, Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 3). See power.upgrades.upgradeFortune1, power.upgrades.upgradeFortune2 and power.upgrades.upgradeFortune3.[6]
- Silk Touch: costs 100 per block (Upgrade: Silk touch, set by power.upgrades.upgradeSilkCost).[6]
- Magnet: costs 25 per block (Upgrade: Magnet, set by power.upgrades.upgradeMagnet).[6]
- Freezing: costs 100 per block frozen (Upgrade: Freezing, set by power.upgrades.upgradeFreeze).[6]
- Light Placer: costs 100 per light block placed (Upgrade: Light Placer, set by power.upgrades.upgradeLight).[6]
- Void Junk: costs 10 per block, set by power.upgrades.upgradeVoid.[6]
Unverified The sources don't confirm exactly how upgrade costs combine with the 200 base cost, so rely on the "Per Block Cost" tooltip for the real total.
Using the Modification Table
Upgrades are installed through the Modification Table's screen. Shift-click an upgrade from your inventory slots to insert it, or drop it onto the screen. Click an installed upgrade to remove it. The screen can also show a "No Upgrades available" message.[5]
Some settings appear in the screen too. One has a delay that controls how often a freeze particle is spawned. By default it is one particle every tick, and adding delay reduces the number of particles. There's also a Precision Mode setting that shows a numeric value.[5]

Pack-specific recipes
The pack adds its own recipe for the Blank Upgrade Module, which the gadgets, the table and many upgrades are built from.[7]

The pack also changes the recipes for the Efficiency tiers 2 to 5, all three Fortune tiers and all three Range tiers. If you've used the mod elsewhere, check these in-game rather than relying on what you remember. Here's Efficiency Tier 2 as an example.[7]

How do you progress through Mining Gadgets?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The pack's quest book gives Mining Gadgets one quest that I can see, a quest in "?", in the Basic Tools chapter. It completes when you hold any of Mining Gadget MK1, Mining Gadget MK2 or Mining Gadget MK3. After that, the rest of the progression is the upgrade recipes below.[4]
Step one: the Blank Upgrade Module
Almost everything in this mod needs the Blank Upgrade Module, and the pack added its own recipe for it. Get this sorted first, because the gadgets and most upgrades start from it.[3]
The three gadget tiers
The MK1, MK2 and MK3 gadgets each have their own crafting recipe, and all three use the mod's own recipes unchanged. Each one needs a Blank Upgrade Module.[3]

Upgrade lines
Upgrades come in tiered lines. From tier 2 up, each recipe takes the previous tier's upgrade, so you have to climb them in order. Here is what the pack changed and what it left alone.[3]
- Efficiency: five tiers, from Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 to Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 5. Tier 1 is the mod's own recipe, while tiers 2 to 5 are changed by the pack.[3]
- Fortune: three tiers, from Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1 to Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 3. All three recipes are changed by the pack.[3]
- Range: three tiers, from Upgrade: Range, Tier 1 to Upgrade: Range, Tier 3. All three recipes are changed by the pack.[3]
- Size: Upgrade: 3x3, Upgrade: 5x5 and Upgrade: 7x7. All three recipes are changed by the pack, and each of the last two builds on the one before.[3]
- Battery: three tiers, from Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1 to Upgrade: Battery, Tier 3. These use the mod's own recipes.[3]
- Single-tier utilities: Upgrade: Freezing, Upgrade: Light Placer, Upgrade: Magnet, Upgrade: Silk touch and Upgrade: Void Junk. All of them use the mod's own recipes, and each is made from a Blank Upgrade Module plus other items.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Mining Gadgets?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Mining Gadgets appears in a single quest in this pack, and it sits in the basic_tools chapter. That makes this a short section.[8]
The quest a quest in "?" has no title in the quest file. Its task is to obtain a Mining Gadget, and it accepts any tier: Mining Gadget MK1, Mining Gadget MK2 or Mining Gadget MK3 all complete it.[8]
As for order, this quest only unlocks after a prerequisite quest in the quest book is completed. Finish the quests leading into it first and it will appear in the basic_tools chapter.[8]
Which Mining Gadgets config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide
Every Mining Gadgets option you'll care about lives in power.mining_gadget.baseCost's file, config/mininggadgets-common.toml, and they all deal with power. Each value is a cost per block or a capacity, and every one must be greater than 0. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[9]
The gadget itself
- power.mining_gadget.baseCost is the base power cost per block broken, set to 200 in this pack.[9]
- power.mining_gadget.maxPower is the gadget's maximum power, set to 1,000,000 in this pack.[9]
Battery upgrades
The three battery upgrades add to the gadget's capacity. Battery 1 adds 2,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery1), Battery 2 adds 5,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery2), and Battery 3 adds 10,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery3).[9]
Upgrade costs per block
Most other upgrades charge extra power for every block you mine. These are the values this pack uses.[9]
- Efficiency 1 to 5 cost 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency1, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency2, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency3, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency4, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency5).[9]
- Fortune 1 to 3 cost 30, 60 and 100 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeFortune1, power.upgrades.upgradeFortune2, power.upgrades.upgradeFortune3).[9]
- Silk Touch costs 100 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeSilkCost).[9]
- Magnet costs 25 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeMagnet).[9]
- Void Junk costs 10 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeVoid).[9]
- Freeze costs 100 per block frozen (power.upgrades.upgradeFreeze).[9]
- Light costs 100 per light block placed (power.upgrades.upgradeLight).[9]
Unverified The pack's config file doesn't show the mod's default values, so I can't tell you which of these numbers the pack changed from the default. Treat the values above as what this pack uses, and don't assume they match a standalone install of the mod.
