What is Mining Gadgets?
Mining Gadgets is included in this pack at version 1.11.1. That is the version you'll be playing with.[1]
I can only confirm that the mod is installed. The pack's sources don't say what it does in this pack, who it's meant for, or where it fits in progression, so I'm not going to guess at any of that.[1]
Unverified No quests, ATM Star path entries, recipe changes or config changes for Mining Gadgets could be confirmed from the available sources. Check in-game, for example in the recipe viewer, before relying on any specific behavior. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Mining Gadgets?
4 parts
Mining Gadgets is built around one tool, the Mining Gadget, and a set of upgrade modules you fit into it. Here's the order I'd build things in.[2]
Step 1: Make a Blank Upgrade Module
Start with the Blank Upgrade Module. It's an ingredient in the gadget itself, the Modification Table and most upgrades, so it's the first thing to craft. Make a few, because you'll keep needing them.[2]

Step 2: Craft your Mining Gadget
There are three versions of the tool, each with its own recipe: Mining Gadget MK1, Mining Gadget MK2 and Mining Gadget MK3. Here's the MK1 recipe to start with.[2]

Step 3: Build the Modification Table
The Modification Table is where upgrades get installed, and it needs a Blank Upgrade Module as well. In its screen you shift-click upgrades in from your inventory slots, or drop an upgrade onto the screen. Click an installed upgrade to take it back out.[2][3]

Step 4: Pick your first upgrades
Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 is the first step of the Efficiency line, which goes up to Tier 5. Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1 is the first step of the Battery line, which goes up to Tier 3. Upgrade: Magnet is a standalone upgrade with its own recipe.[2]

How does Mining Gadgets work?
5 parts
Mining Gadgets is built around one powered tool, which comes in three versions: Mining Gadget MK1, Mining Gadget MK2 and Mining Gadget MK3. You customise it with upgrade modules at the Modification Table. So the core mechanics come down to how the gadget spends power and how you fit upgrades.[2][3]
How the gadget uses power
Every block you break costs power. In this pack the base cost is 200 per block (power.mining_gadget.baseCost), and the gadget's own maximum power is 1,000,000 (power.mining_gadget.maxPower).[4]
The gadget's tooltip shows a "Per Block Cost" line, and holding shift shows the upgrades it has installed. Check it after changing your setup so you know what each block costs you.[3]
Battery upgrades
Battery upgrades raise how much power the gadget can store. These are the capacity boosts this pack sets:[4]
- Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1: 2,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery1)[2][4]
- Upgrade: Battery, Tier 2: 5,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery2)[2][4]
- Upgrade: Battery, Tier 3: 10,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery3)[2][4]
The higher battery tiers are crafted from the previous tier's upgrade, so you build them up in order.[2]
What each upgrade costs per block
Most other upgrades add their own power cost. The pack's config describes these as the cost per block, except Freezing and Light Placer, which are charged per block frozen and per light block placed.[4]
- Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 costs 10 (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency1).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 2 costs 20 (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency2).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 3 costs 30 (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency3).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 4 costs 40 (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency4).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 5 costs 50 (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency5).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1 costs 30 (power.upgrades.upgradeFortune1).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 2 costs 60 (power.upgrades.upgradeFortune2).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 3 costs 100 (power.upgrades.upgradeFortune3).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Magnet costs 25 (power.upgrades.upgradeMagnet).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Freezing costs 100 per block frozen (power.upgrades.upgradeFreeze).[2][4]
- Upgrade: Light Placer costs 100 per light block placed (power.upgrades.upgradeLight).[2][4]
- The Silk Touch upgrade costs 100 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeSilkCost).[4]
- The Void Junk upgrade costs 10 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeVoid).[4]
Fitting upgrades at the Modification Table
You install and remove upgrades in the Modification Table's screen. Shift-click an upgrade from your inventory slots to insert it, or drop it onto the screen. Click an installed upgrade to remove it. If the gadget has nothing it can accept, the screen shows "No Upgrades available".[3]
The Freezing upgrade has a delay setting in this screen. By default it spawns one freeze particle every tick, and adding delay reduces the number of particles.[3]

How do you progress through Mining Gadgets?
3 parts
Unverified No quests in this pack are known to involve this mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. The order below follows the recipes only, not a quest line.
Everything in Mining Gadgets starts from one item, the Blank Upgrade Module. The gadgets, the table and almost every upgrade use it, so make a few before you do anything else.[2]

Step 2: tiered upgrades
Four upgrade lines come in tiers. In every line, each tier is crafted from the previous tier, so you can't skip ahead.[2]
- Efficiency has five tiers, from Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1 up to Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 5. Tier 1 is made from a blank module, and each step after that builds on the tier before it. These are the mod's own recipes.[2]
- Battery has three tiers, from Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1 through Upgrade: Battery, Tier 2 to Upgrade: Battery, Tier 3. These are the mod's own recipes.[2]
- Fortune has three tiers, from Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1 through Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 2 to Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 3. The pack changed these recipes.[2]
- Range has three tiers, from Upgrade: Range, Tier 1 through Upgrade: Range, Tier 2 to Upgrade: Range, Tier 3. The pack changed these recipes too.[2]

How does Mining Gadgets work with other mods?
2 parts
In this pack, Mining Gadgets connects to other mods through its upgrade modules. The pack changed the recipes of the upgrades below, and each one now needs a blue steel item from the tfc namespace.[2]
Upgrade: Light Placer
The pack changed the recipe for Upgrade: Light Placer. Besides the Blank Upgrade Module, it asks for a Blue Steel Lamp, and that lamp is the piece that ties it to the other mod.[2]

This is the pack's changed version of the recipe, not the mod default.
Upgrade: 3x3
Upgrade: 3x3 was also changed by the pack. Its cross-mod piece is a Blue Steel Pickaxe, so you need to have made a blue steel pickaxe before you can craft it.[2]

Which Mining Gadgets config options matter?
3 parts
Every Mining Gadgets option you'll care about lives in power.mining_gadget.baseCost's file, config/mininggadgets-common.toml, and they all deal with power. Each value is a cost per block or a capacity, and every one must be greater than 0. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[4]
The gadget itself
- power.mining_gadget.baseCost is the base power cost per block broken, set to 200 in this pack.[4]
- power.mining_gadget.maxPower is the gadget's maximum power, set to 1,000,000 in this pack.[4]
Battery upgrades
The three battery upgrades add to the gadget's capacity. Battery 1 adds 2,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery1), Battery 2 adds 5,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery2), and Battery 3 adds 10,000,000 (power.upgrades.battery3).[4]
Upgrade costs per block
Most other upgrades charge extra power for every block you mine. These are the values this pack uses.[4]
- Efficiency 1 to 5 cost 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency1, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency2, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency3, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency4, power.upgrades.upgradeEfficiency5).[4]
- Fortune 1 to 3 cost 30, 60 and 100 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeFortune1, power.upgrades.upgradeFortune2, power.upgrades.upgradeFortune3).[4]
- Silk Touch costs 100 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeSilkCost).[4]
- Magnet costs 25 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeMagnet).[4]
- Void Junk costs 10 per block (power.upgrades.upgradeVoid).[4]
- Freeze costs 100 per block frozen (power.upgrades.upgradeFreeze).[4]
- Light costs 100 per light block placed (power.upgrades.upgradeLight).[4]
Unverified The pack's config file doesn't show the mod's default values, so I can't tell you which of these numbers the pack changed from the default. Treat the values above as what this pack uses, and don't assume they match a standalone install of the mod.
