What is Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
1 part
Industrial Foregoing: Souls is a small add-on with one clear job: it takes souls from Wardens and uses them to speed up your machines. If you already run a base full of machines and want them working faster, this mod is for you.[1]
This pack includes version 1.10.4 of the mod.[2]
How it works
- Extract souls from a Warden using a Soul Laser Base with a Blue Lens in it. Don't forget the lens, because the laser needs it. A Stasis Chamber is a big help for holding the Warden in place.[1]
- Once you have souls stored, place a Soul Surge so it points at the block you want to speed up.[1]
- Connect the Soul Surge to the Soul Laser Base with Soul Pipes. If you want to pause the Soul Surge, give it a redstone signal.[1]
With the mod's default settings, each soul lasts 15 seconds and makes the target machine 4 times faster. Also by default, the laser keeps the Warden alive instead of killing it, so one Warden can keep supplying souls. All of these can be changed in the config.[1]
Unverified The sources only show the mod's default config. It is not confirmed whether this pack keeps those defaults or changes the soul duration, speed multiplier or Warden settings.
The mod uses Echo Shards a lot, so it also adds a way to get more of them.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits in the pack's progression. No quests or main progression path covering it could be confirmed.
How do you get started with Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
4 parts
This mod turns a Warden into fuel for your machines. You pull souls out of a Warden, store them, then pipe them to a block that uses them to speed up whatever it points at. There are only three blocks to make, and it's easiest to build them in this order.[1]
Step 1: The Soul Laser Base
Start with the Soul Laser Base. This is the block that extracts souls from a Warden and stores them, so nothing else in the mod works until you have one running.[1]

The Laser Base needs a Blue Lens to pull souls from a Warden. The Stasis Chamber is a big help for keeping the Warden in place while the laser works on it.[1]
Step 2: Soul Pipes
Once you have souls stored, you need a way to move them. Soul Pipe connects the Soul Laser Base to the block that spends the souls, so make enough to cover the distance between your Warden setup and your machines.[1]

Step 3: The Soul Surge
The Soul Surge is where the fun happens. Place it pointing at the block you want to speed up, then connect it to your Soul Laser Base with Soul Pipes.[1]

By default, each soul lasts 15 seconds and makes the target machine 4 times faster. Both of these values can be changed in the config.[1]
Unverified The provided sources only show the mod's default soul duration and speed boost. It isn't confirmed whether this pack keeps those defaults or changes them.
Useful things to know early
- Want to pause the boost? Send a redstone signal to the Soul Surge and it stops working.[1]
- You can stop specific blocks from being accelerated by adding them to the block tag industrialforegoingsouls:cant_accelerate.[1]
- Echo Shard shows up in both the Soul Pipe and Soul Surge recipes, and the mod uses Echo Shards a lot. Plan on gathering a good stack of them.[1][3]
Unverified The mod also adds a way to get more Echo Shards, but the provided sources don't explain how it works. They also don't confirm whether the Soul Laser Base kills the Warden or keeps it alive in this pack.
How does Industrial Foregoing: Souls work?
3 parts
This mod gives Industrial Foregoing a new speed boost: souls pulled out of Wardens. You harvest souls with one machine, pipe them across your base, and spend them to make other machines run faster. The whole system uses just three blocks: the Soul Laser Base, the Soul Pipe and the Soul Surge.[1][3]
Extracting souls from a Warden
Everything starts at the Soul Laser Base. It extracts souls from a Warden and stores them in an internal tank. The laser needs a Blue Lens to do this. The Stasis Chamber is the usual way to hold a Warden in place so the laser can work on it.[1]

Needs an advanced machine frame, so plan for some Industrial Foregoing progression first.
Each operation of the laser damages the Warden and produces souls. With the mod's default config, the laser does not kill the Warden. Once the Warden's health gets close to 0, it keeps the Warden alive so you can keep harvesting.[1]
The mod's default config sets these values for the Soul Laser Base:[1]
- Soul storage tank: holds up to 1,350 souls.[1]
- Max progress of the machine: 20.[1]
- Damage dealt to the Warden per operation: 4.[1]
- Souls generated per operation: 3.[1]
- Killing the Warden when its health nears 0: off.[1]
Moving souls and accelerating machines
Once you have souls stored, you spend them with a Soul Surge. Point the Surge at the block you want to speed up. Then connect it back to your Soul Laser Base with a line of Soul Pipe.[1]
- Set up a Soul Laser Base with a Blue Lens next to a captured Warden, and let it fill up with souls.[1]
- Place a Soul Surge facing the machine you want to accelerate.[1]
- Run Soul Pipe from the Soul Laser Base to the Soul Surge.[1]

With the mod's default config, each soul lasts 15 seconds (300 ticks) and makes the target machine 4 times faster. The config option behind the speed-up is described as how many extra ticks the Surge adds, with a default of 4.[1]
Controlling the Surge
You can switch a Soul Surge off by giving it a redstone signal. That's handy when you want to save your souls or only boost a machine while it has work to do.[1]
Some blocks should never be accelerated. The mod handles this with the block tag industrialforegoingsouls:cant_accelerate: any block in that tag won't be sped up.[1]
Unverified The pack's config files for this mod weren't available, so the numbers above are the mod's defaults. The pack may have changed soul storage, soul duration, acceleration strength or Warden damage. Check in-game if the exact numbers matter to you.
Unverified The sources don't say how the mod's extra Echo Shard method works. They also don't say whether block tag exclusions come pre-filled in the pack.
How do you progress through Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
2 parts
This mod has a small crafting footprint in the pack. Only three items are crafted directly: the Soul Laser Base, the Soul Pipe and the Soul Surge. All three are shaped recipes you make in a regular crafting table.[3]
All three recipes are the mod's own recipes, so the pack does not change how you craft these items.[3]
Soul Laser Base
The Soul Laser Base builds on Industrial Foregoing parts, including one of its advanced machine frames. Get your main Industrial Foregoing setup running before you work toward it.[3]

Soul Pipe and Soul Surge
The Soul Pipe and the Soul Surge share a lot of their ingredients, so once you can make one, the other is close behind.[3]

How does Industrial Foregoing: Souls work with other mods?
2 parts
This mod is built to boost machines rather than add a big standalone tech line. You extract souls from a Warden with a Soul Laser Base fitted with a Blue Lens. You then pipe those souls with Soul Pipes into a Soul Surge that points at the block you want to speed up. The mod page also says the Stasis Chamber "will be your friend" here, which helps you keep the Warden in place while you harvest it.[1]
Speeding up other blocks
The Soul Surge accelerates whatever block it's aimed at, so it can speed up machines rather than only this mod's own blocks. If you want the Surge to stop, give it a redstone signal. That's handy when it's pointed at a machine you only want running fast some of the time.[1]
Warden and Echo Shards
The mod relies on the Warden as its soul source and uses Echo Shards heavily. To keep up with demand, it adds its own way to get more Echo Shards, so you aren't stuck relying only on Ancient City loot.[1]
Unverified There are no confirmed in-pack recipes or quests that combine this mod's items with items from other mods. It's also not confirmed which specific machines from other mods in this pack are in the cant_accelerate tag, or how well they respond to the Soul Surge. Test it in your own world before building around it.
Which Industrial Foregoing: Souls config options matter?
2 parts
Unverified The pack's own config file for this mod wasn't available to check, so we can't confirm whether the pack changes any of these settings. Every value below is the mod's default and may not match what you see in game.
The mod's settings are split into two groups: one for the Soul Laser Base, which pulls souls out of a Warden, and one for the Soul Surge, which spends those souls to speed up the block it's pointed at.[1]
Soul Surge
These two options control how much speed you get from each soul. They're the ones you'll feel most, because they decide how fast your machines run and how quickly you burn through souls.[1]
- SOUL_TIME sets how long one soul keeps accelerating, in ticks. The default is 300 ticks, which is 15 seconds per soul.[1]
- ACCELERATION_TICK sets how many extra ticks the Surge gives the target block. The default is 4, which the mod describes as making the machine 4 times faster.[1]
Soul Laser Base
These options decide how quickly you collect souls and what happens to your Warden along the way.[1]
- KILL_WARDEN decides whether the Warden is killed when its health gets close to 0 or kept alive. The default is false, so your Warden survives and you can keep harvesting it.[1]
- DAMAGE_PER_OPERATION is the damage dealt to the Warden each time the machine completes an operation. The default is 4.[1]
- SOULS_PER_OPERATION is how many souls each operation produces. The default is 3.[1]
- MAX_PROGRESS is the machine's maximum progress per operation. The default is 20.[1]
- SOUL_STORAGE_AMOUNT is the size of the machine's soul tank. The default is 1,350.[1]
What changed in Industrial Foregoing: Souls between versions?
The sources I have for this mod are thin, so this section is short. Industrial Foregoing: Souls has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 3.2 ships version 1.10.4 of it.[2]
- All the Mods 10 2.32: the mod was updated from 1.10.3 to 1.10.4. That is the version you still get in 3.2.[2][4]
Unverified What actually changed inside the mod between 1.10.3 and 1.10.4 is unverified. There are no stored changelogs for the shipped jar, and the pack changelog only lists the version bump. Any other pack releases that touched this mod are also unverified.
