What is Crystalix?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Crystalix is a building and decoration mod that adds colored glass blocks with a lot of different functions. The pack includes version 3.0.0. It's a great pick if you like detailed builds, or if you want glass that does more than look pretty.[1][2]
Since version 2.3.0 there are only 3 kinds of glass, and you can apply any color to any of them. That gives you a huge number of color combinations without a crowded creative menu.[1]
The Crystalix Wand
The wand is how you customize your glass. You hold V by default to open a config window, then cycle through the properties to set them on a block. Left clicking or scrolling down cycles forwards, and right clicking or scrolling up cycles backwards.[1]
- Crouch to edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply properties without changing the color.[1]
- Press X to copy the properties from the block you're currently targeting onto the wand.[1]
What the properties can do
Properties can be mixed however you like. You can make a block invisible, fully transparent with only a few colored specks, waterloggable, or shadeless. You can also make it emit a redstone signal of 15, or let it conduct redstone like a solid block.[1]
Reinforced blocks are indestructible to everything, including the wither and the ender dragon, except for a player mining them. Mining them is also 10x harder. The Ghost property lets chosen groups pass through the block, such as only players or only hostile mobs. The Light property can make a block glow at light level 15, block light like tinted glass, or glow at 15 while still allowing mob spawns.[1]
Unverified Where Crystalix fits in this pack's progression is unconfirmed. The available sources show no quests for it and no place on the ATM Star path, so treat it as an optional building and decoration mod.
How do you get started with Crystalix?
3 parts
Crystalix is all about colored glass blocks that can do a lot more than look pretty. Getting started is a short job: make the wand, make a few glass blocks, then use the wand to give them properties.[1]
Make the Crystalix Wand
Start with the Crystalix Wand. It's the tool you use to set the properties of a block, so you want it before you start placing glass. Here is the in-pack recipe:[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any glass | any diamond gem |
| Empty slot | any glass | |
| Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: crystalix:crystalix_wand
Craft some glass
There are three types of Crystalix glass: the regular one, a Clear version and a Bordered version. The pack has separate recipes for each type in a wide range of colors, so you can start with whichever look you like. Here is one color of each type as an example:[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
| any amethyst gem | any red dye | any amethyst gem |
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
Recipe id: crystalix:red_crystalix_glass
Regular glass, shown here in red.
Crafting Shaped
| any glass | any quartz gem | any glass |
| any quartz gem | any red dye | any quartz gem |
| any glass | any quartz gem | any glass |
Recipe id: crystalix:red_clear_crystalix_glass
Clear glass, shown here in red.
Crafting Shaped
| any glass | any iron ingot | any glass |
| any iron ingot | any red dye | any iron ingot |
| any glass | any iron ingot | any glass |
Recipe id: crystalix:red_bordered_crystalix_glass
Bordered glass, shown here in red.
Already have some Crystalix glass in the wrong color? The pack also has tinting recipes that turn glass you own into another color, and they work within the same glass type. For example:[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass | any glass | any glass |
| any glass | any blue dye | any glass |
| any glass | any glass | any glass |
Recipe id: crystalix:tinted_blue_crystalix_glass
Tinting regular glass blue.
Edit blocks with the wand
Hold V (the default key) to open the config window, then pick the property you want. You can mix and match properties however you like, for example invisible, redstone-emitting, waterloggable or a ghost block that only lets certain mobs through. The Color property opens a color picker where you can choose any color you like.[1]
- While you crouch, the wand currently edits all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply properties without changing the color.[1]
- Press X to copy the properties of the block you're currently targeting onto the wand.[1]
- Left click or scroll down to cycle forwards through the options. Right click or scroll up cycles backwards.[1]
- The mod's tooltip also mentions holding Shift to bulk edit.[4]
How does Crystalix work?
5 parts
Crystalix doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation in anything I can source. It adds colored glass blocks with many different functions, and all the depth comes from the glass, its properties and one tool, the Crystalix Wand.[1]
The glass variants
In this pack each color comes in plain, clear and bordered glass, for example crystalix:blue_crystalix_glass, crystalix:blue_clear_crystalix_glass and crystalix:blue_bordered_crystalix_glass. The blue versions are shown below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
| any amethyst gem | any blue dye | any amethyst gem |
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
Recipe id: crystalix:blue_crystalix_glass
Crafting Shaped
| any glass | any quartz gem | any glass |
| any quartz gem | any blue dye | any quartz gem |
| any glass | any quartz gem | any glass |
Recipe id: crystalix:blue_clear_crystalix_glass
Crafting Shaped
| any glass | any iron ingot | any glass |
| any iron ingot | any blue dye | any iron ingot |
| any glass | any iron ingot | any glass |
Recipe id: crystalix:blue_bordered_crystalix_glass
The project page says you can apply any color to any type of glass, so you can mix colors and glass types however you like.[1]
The Crystalix Wand
The project page describes the wand as the way you change a block. It cycles through the possible properties and lets you set them through a config window. Here is its recipe.[1]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any glass | any diamond gem |
| Empty slot | any glass | |
| Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: crystalix:crystalix_wand
The project page lists these wand controls.[1]
- The project page says you hold V to open the config window, and that V is the default key.[1]
- The project page says left click or scroll down cycles forwards, and right click or scroll up cycles backwards.[1]
- The project page says crouching lets you edit all connecting blocks at once. The mod's tooltip puts it as holding Shift to bulk edit.[1][4]
- The project page says holding CTRL applies properties without applying color.[1]
- The project page says pressing X copies the properties of the block you're targeting onto the wand.[1]
The mod also has a keybind called Toggle Reinforced Mode. The sources here don't explain how it behaves, so test it in a creative world before you rely on it.[4]
Block properties
The project page says properties can be mixed and matched however you like. Here is what it says each one does.[1]
- Invisibility: the project page says it makes the block invisible, which is useful when you want the glass's properties without a visible block.[1]
- Transparent: the project page says the texture becomes fully transparent, so color only shows on a few specks of the glass.[1]
- Waterloggable: the project page says it sets whether the block can be waterlogged.[1]
- Reinforced: the project page says the block is indestructible to everything except a player mining it, including the wither and ender dragon, and that it is 10x harder to mine.[1]
- Shadeless: the project page says it removes the shadows and shade from the block.[1]
- Redstone: the project page says the block emits a redstone signal of 15.[1]
- Conductor: the project page says the block conducts redstone through it like a solid block.[1]
- Color: the project page says it opens the color picker, where you can choose any color to apply to your glass.[1]
Ghost mode
The project page says Ghost makes the block passthrough for one of these groups.[1]
- Nothing, or everything.[1]
- Only players, or everything except players.[1]
- Only hostile mobs, or everything except hostile mobs.[1]
- Only passive mobs, or everything except passive mobs.[1]
Light modes
The project page says the Light property cycles through the modes below.[1]
- None: no special property.[1]
- Light: glows at a light level of 15.[1]
- Dark: blocks light the same way as tinted glass.[1]
- Fake Light: glows with a light level of 15, still allowing mobs to spawn.[1]
Unverified The sources here show no Crystalix config file and no in-jar guidebook for this pack, so any pack-specific tuning of the properties above is not shown. The property details come from the mod's project page.
How do you progress through Crystalix?
3 parts
Crystalix is a decorative glass mod, and the recipes for it in this pack are all shaped crafting recipes. There is no machine chain to climb, so you can start on any of them as soon as you have the materials. What changes as you go is the style of the glass, plus one tool, the Crystalix Wand.[3]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve Crystalix, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so the sources here show no quest-driven order for it. No in-jar guidebook was found either.
Glass styles
Each dye colour comes in a plain, a Clear and a Bordered style, and each style has its own recipe. Red is used below as the example, and the other colours follow the same pattern.[3]

The Bordered style, shown in red.
Recolouring
The pack also has separate tinted recipes for plain, Clear and Bordered glass. They give you the coloured version of a style, so you can change the colour of a build without starting from scratch. Here is one example.[3]

The Crystalix Wand
The one item in these recipes that is not a glass block is the Crystalix Wand. It is crafted at a crafting table like the glass.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Crystalix?
3 parts
Crystalix has one quest in the pack, and it sits in the Building Tips chapter, which has 90 quests in total. The quest is called "Crystalix" quest, and it is an item task. The book doesn't name a specific item for it.[5]
The path to it
The chapter opens with "Building Tips!" quest, and Crystalix is three steps down that line:[5]
- "Building Tips!" quest is the chapter's starting quest.[5]
- "Blocks!" quest comes next and asks you to get any block.[5]
- a quest in "Building Tips" follows and asks for Glass. Its text says the vanilla glass is nice but you can do much better.[5]
- "Crystalix" quest unlocks after the glass quest.[5]
What the quest tells you
The quest text says Crystalix adds glass in three styles. Normal has no borders or corner pixels and is entirely clear and one color. Clear has borders but no corner pixels. Bordered uses the regular Minecraft glass pattern.[5]
Each Crystalix glass also has its own properties. Shadeless affects how it reacts to shaders and Minecraft lighting. Reinforced affects blast resistance. Light decides whether it gives light, ignores light, or lets light in like normal glass. Ghost changes who can walk through the glass, and the quest says it has the most settings.[5]
Other glass quests nearby
Crystalix isn't alone after the glass quest. These quests also unlock from it, so you can do them in any order:[5]
