What is Cable Tiers?
3 parts
Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage and RSRequestify. It gives you upgraded versions of the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator, Interface and Requester. The project page also lists the Autocrafter in its title. If your storage network is already running and you want more throughput without building a lot more cables, this mod is for you.[1]
The three tiers
- Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
- Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
- Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
Those figures come from the mod's project page. I have no pack-specific config or recipe changes to show you for them.[1]
Special features
In this pack
The pack includes Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.2.6 for NeoForge. It was first added in version 2.43 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the modlist.[2]
Unverified The sources I have do not show this mod on the ATM Star path or in any quest, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Treat it as an optional upgrade for your Refined Storage setup rather than a guided progression step.
How do you get started with Cable Tiers?
2 parts
Cable Tiers doesn't add a whole new system. It adds better versions of Refined Storage parts: Exporter, Importer, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Autocrafter, Interface and Requester. So the first step is to have a Refined Storage network, then swap in the tiered versions where you want more speed or more filter slots.[1]
Know the tiers before you craft
The mod's project page lists these upgrade levels over the normal part. The pack also has Creative versions of the parts.[1][3]
- Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
- Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with the stack upgrade integrated.[1]
- Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, with the stack upgrade integrated.[1]
The mod also lists tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting and an import mode for Autocrafters as special features.[1]
Coloring your tiered parts
Once you have tiered parts, you can recolor them. Coloring is a shapeless craft: one dye of the color you want plus any part of the same type and tier gives you the colored version. For example, a blue Elite Exporter comes from blue dye and any Elite Exporter.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any elite exporter
- any blue dye
Recipe id: cabletiers:coloring/blue_elite_exporter
The same dye-plus-part pattern is used for the other colors, tiers and part types in the recipe list.
Here is a black Mega Importer, Black Mega Importer, as a second example.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any mega importer
- any black dye
Recipe id: cabletiers:coloring/black_mega_importer
How does Cable Tiers work?
5 parts
Cable Tiers doesn't add a new storage system. It adds faster, bigger tiers of the cable-style devices you already use with Refined Storage. The project page lists the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator (the Disk Interface in the pack's item names), Interface and Requester, built for Refined Storage and RSRequestify. The pack also has tiered Autocrafters.[1][4]
What each tier gives you
The project page describes the upgrade tiers compared with the normal versions of each device. Here is what each one offers:[1]
- Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
- Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, and a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
- Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, and a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
There is also a Creative tier. The sources only show that it has its own speed setting for every device type. They don't give its actual speed.[4]
Unverified These multipliers and slot counts come from the mod's project page. The sources here include no config files for this mod in the pack, so they don't show whether the pack changes any of these values.
Filter slots and stack upgrades
The in-game tooltip on a tiered cable device tells you how much faster it is than a normal one and how many filter slots it has in total. If a stack upgrade is built in, the tooltip says so too.[4]
The mod has an on/off option for whether the stack upgrade is integrated. It exists for the Elite, Mega and Ultra versions of the Constructor, Disk Interface, Exporter and Importer. The project page only lists Ultra and Mega as having a stack upgrade integrated, so check the tooltip on your own device before you rely on it.[1][4]
Autocrafters
Tiered Autocrafters follow the same idea. Their tooltip shows how much faster they are than a normal one and their total number of input slots. The project page also lists some special features: tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters.[1][4]
The sources don't explain how side-specific inputs or the import mode work in practice, so test them in a creative world before you build around them.[1]
Speed and energy settings
The mod's settings are split by device type: Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers. Every type has a speed setting per tier. Elite, Mega and Ultra also have an energy usage setting, while Creative only has speed.[4]
Unverified The actual speed and energy numbers in this pack are set in the mod's config, and the sources here include no config files for this mod, so they don't show the exact power draw per tier.
Colored variants
Tiered devices come in colored versions, such as the black Elite Importer Black Elite Importer or the black Creative Exporter Black Creative Exporter. You make these with a shapeless recipe that combines a matching dye with a device of the same type and tier. Here is one example:[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any elite importer
- any black dye
Recipe id: cabletiers:coloring/black_elite_importer
The black and blue variants shown in the recipe list follow this same dye plus device pattern.
How do you progress through Cable Tiers?
2 parts
Here's the honest picture for this pack: the only Cable Tiers recipes I can confirm are coloring recipes. The recipe data shows higher-tier versions of the autocrafter, constructor, destructor, disk interface, exporter and importer. The tier names in that data are elite, mega, ultra and creative.[3]
Tiers and colors
The coloring recipes I can see cover black, blue, brown and cyan. A colored part keeps its tier and its type. For example, Black Elite Exporter is the black elite exporter, and Blue Ultra Importer is the blue ultra importer.[3]
Coloring is a shapeless crafting recipe. Each tier and part type has its own item tag, so a recipe only accepts parts from the matching tier and type. The recipe below is an elite example.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any elite exporter
- any black dye
Recipe id: cabletiers:coloring/black_elite_exporter
Coloring an elite exporter black. The other colors, parts and tiers follow the same pattern.
The same pattern applies at the top end. Here is a creative-tier example.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any creative importer
- any blue dye
Recipe id: cabletiers:coloring/blue_creative_importer
Coloring a creative importer blue, using the same pattern as the elite example.
Quest guidance
Unverified The sources here show no quest in the pack's quest book that involves Cable Tiers, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so there is no quest-guided order for these tiers that I can point you to.
How does Cable Tiers work with other mods?
3 parts
Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage, and in this pack that is where its connection to other mods lives. Every Cable Tiers recipe in the recipe dump uses Refined Storage's Advanced Processor, and the Elite tier starts from a regular Refined Storage part.[1][3]
The pack changed these recipes, so don't assume the mod's defaults. The recipes shown below are the ones that apply here.[3]
The upgrade chain
Each Elite part is crafted from its matching Refined Storage part. Each Ultra part is then crafted from the Elite version of the same part. You can't skip Elite, so craft them in order.[3]
- Importer leads to Elite Importer, then Ultra Importer.[3]
- Exporter leads to Elite Exporter, then Ultra Exporter.[3]
- Constructor leads to Elite Constructor, then Ultra Constructor.[3]
- Destructor leads to Elite Destructor, then Ultra Destructor.[3]
- Disk Interface leads to Elite Disk Interface, then Ultra Disk Interface.[3]
- Autocrafter leads to Elite Autocrafter, then Ultra Autocrafter.[3]
The Elite step also takes any block in the iron storage block tag, and the Ultra step takes any block in the diamond storage block tag. Because these are tags, any mod's block that carries the right tag works.[3]
Example: the Exporter line
Crafting Shaped
| any iron storage block | any iron storage block | |
| any iron storage block | any iron storage block |
Recipe id: cabletiers:elite_exporter
Elite step, starting from the Refined Storage Exporter.
Crafting Shaped
| any diamond storage block | any diamond storage block | |
| any diamond storage block | any diamond storage block |
Recipe id: cabletiers:ultra_exporter
Ultra step, starting from the Elite Exporter.
The other lines follow the same pattern: the Refined Storage part becomes Elite, and Elite becomes Ultra.[3]
What you get for the upgrade
The mod's own project page lists Elite as 9 more filter slots and 2x faster. Ultra is listed as 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with the stack upgrade integrated.[1]
What changed in Cable Tiers between versions?
2 parts
Cable Tiers has been in All the Mods 10 since early in the pack's life. The pack changelogs only record which version of the mod shipped in each release, so this section is a version timeline.[2][5]
Timeline
- All the Mods 10 2.43: Cable Tiers was added to the pack at version 1.21.1-0.1.0.[5]
- All the Mods 10 2.44: updated from 1.21.1-0.1.0 to 1.21.1-0.1.1.[6]
- All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 1.21.1-0.1.1 to 1.21.1-0.2.3.[7]
- All the Mods 10 4.6: updated from 1.21.1-0.2.3 to 1.21.1-0.2.6.[8]
Where 4.10 stands
All the Mods 10 4.10 ships Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.2.6, using the file cabletiers-neoforge-1.21.1-0.2.6.jar. That is the same version the pack moved to in 4.6, so the changelogs I have show no further Cable Tiers update between 4.6 and 4.10.[2][8]
Unverified The pack changelogs don't say what changed inside each Cable Tiers update, and no stored changelogs for the shipped jars were available. Any gameplay, recipe or balance differences between these versions are unconfirmed, so check the pack's own recipes and configs rather than assuming.
