What is Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.10 guide

Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage and RSRequestify. It gives you upgraded versions of the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator, Interface and Requester. The project page also lists the Autocrafter in its title. If your storage network is already running and you want more throughput without building a lot more cables, this mod is for you.[1]

The three tiers

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]

Those figures come from the mod's project page. I have no pack-specific config or recipe changes to show you for them.[1]

Special features

  • Tag filtering.[1]
  • Side-specific inputs for autocrafting.[1]
  • An import mode for Autocrafters.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.2.6 for NeoForge. It was first added in version 2.43 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the modlist.[2]

Unverified The sources I have do not show this mod on the ATM Star path or in any quest, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Treat it as an optional upgrade for your Refined Storage setup rather than a guided progression step.

How do you get started with Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Cable Tiers adds better versions of the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Autocrafter and Interface from Refined Storage. They come in Elite, Ultra and Mega tiers. So your first goal is to get a Refined Storage network running, then swap its busiest parts for tiered ones.[1]

What each tier gives you

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated.[1]

Suggested order

The sources don't set a required progression, so this order is my suggestion. It starts at the lowest tier and with the parts that move items in and out of your network.[1][3]

  1. Get a working Refined Storage network first. Cable Tiers parts are improved versions of the Refined Storage ones, so you need a network to plug them into.[1]
  2. Make an Elite Importer and an Elite Exporter for your main storage. They are the first tier, and they give you more filter slots and a speed boost.[1][3]
  3. Add an Elite Interface and an Elite Autocrafter once you want to automate crafting.[3]
  4. Move up to the Ultra and Mega versions when you want the integrated stack upgrade and more speed, for example Ultra Exporter and Mega Exporter. Each has its own recipe in the pack.[1][3]

Tip: The speed figures above come from the mod's project page. The mod also has config options for the speed and energy use of each tiered block, so check the item tooltip in game for the real numbers. It tells you how much faster the block is than a normal one and how many slots it has.[1][4]

The tiered blocks also come in colored variants, and the pack includes recoloring recipes for them. You can leave colors until your network is set up.[3]

How does Cable Tiers work?

5 parts

Cable Tiers doesn't add a brand-new machine system. It gives you upgraded versions of Refined Storage devices: Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator, Interface and Requester, with RSRequestify support too. You set them up the way you already know. The difference is more filter slots and more speed.[1]

Tier scaling

The mod's project page lists these steps up from a normal device:[1]

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]

Unverified These numbers are the mod's own values from its project page. The mod's per-tier options (speed, energy usage, transfer quota multipliers, pattern slot counts and whether the Stack Upgrade is integrated) are set in its config, which the sources here do not show, so the pack's actual values for them are unconfirmed.

What the tooltips tell you

Each device type has its own tooltip, so hover over an item to see its numbers for that tier:[4]

  • Autocrafters, like the Elite Autocrafter, show how much faster they are than a normal one and how many input slots they have.[4]
  • The cable-type devices show how much faster they are and how many filter slots they have. Some also say a Stack Upgrade is integrated.[4]
  • Disk interfaces, like the Elite Disk Interface, show their total filter slots.[4]
  • Interfaces, like the Mega Interface, show a transfer quota multiplier and a total of input/output slots.[4]

Filters also support tags, so a filter entry can cover a whole group of items.[1]

Autocrafting

The tiered autocrafters, such as the Ultra Autocrafter, bring side-specific inputs for autocrafting and an import mode for Autocrafters. The pattern grid has a setting that lets you change the side from which resources are inserted, and its resource slots show the resources that will be inserted into the target inventory.[1][4]

The Mega, Ultra and Creative Autocrafters each have a configurable pattern slot count.[4]

What's configurable

The mod exposes a lot of per-tier options. Speed can be set for the Elite, Mega, Ultra and Creative tiers of autocrafters, constructors, destructors, exporters and importers. Energy usage has its own option for each tier of those devices, and also for interfaces and disk interfaces. Interfaces have a transfer quota multiplier per tier. Constructors, exporters, importers and disk interfaces each have an option for whether the Stack Upgrade is integrated.[4]

Crafting and recoloring

The Elite, Mega and Ultra devices each have a shaped crafting recipe. Here is the Elite Importer as an example.[3]

There are also black variants of the devices, for example the Black Elite Exporter. These are made through Refined Storage's recoloring recipe type.[3]

How do you progress through Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Cable Tiers adds Elite, Mega and Ultra versions of several Refined Storage style blocks. In this pack each of these is its own craftable item with its own shaped crafting recipe, so the recipe blocks below show exactly what each one costs.[3]

Tiers and what they cover

Every block comes in the same Elite, Mega and Ultra versions. Here is the full set of base items.[3]

Crafting each tier

Each base item above has a shaped crafting recipe from the mod. Here are the in-pack recipes for the Interface at each tier:[3]

Recipe id: cabletiers:ultra_interface

The importers, exporters, constructors, destructors, disk interfaces and autocrafters each have their own recipe too, for example Elite Autocrafter and Ultra Autocrafter. Look them up in the recipe viewer.[3]

Colored variants and the Creative tier

There are also colored versions of these blocks, such as black, blue, brown and cyan. They come from recoloring recipes of the Refined Storage recipe type, not from the shaped recipes above. The colored versions also include a Creative tier, for example Black Creative Importer and Blue Creative Autocrafter.[3]

Unverified The quest sources here do not show any quest that involves Cable Tiers, and the mod is not shown on the ATM Star quest path, so this guide cannot give you a quest-guided progression for it. Check the pack's quest book directly if you want to be sure.

What changed in Cable Tiers between versions?

2 parts

All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Cable Tiers 26.1.2-1.0.2. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 11 0.0.22 or earlier. The changes below come from the mod's own changelogs, since there are no pack changelog entries for it.[5]

26.1.2-1.0.2

  • Sided input performance is improved.[6]
  • A rare crash is fixed.[6]
  • Refined Types support is back after being removed, so you can use it again.[6]

26.1.2-1.0.1

  • The number of autocrafting pattern slots is doubled, and you can also change it in the config.[7]
  • A crash is fixed.[7]

Both of these updates are already in the version bundled with this pack, so you don't need to do anything to get them.[5][6][7]
