Cable Tiers is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.21.1-0.6.15. Adds better Exporter, Importer, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Autocrafter, Interface, Requester from Refined Storage and RSRequestify (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Cable Tiers gives you upgraded versions of the Refined Storage devices you already use: the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface and Autocrafter. Each one comes in three tiers, Elite, Ultra and Mega. Higher tiers get more slots and work faster. This pack includes Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.6.14 for NeoForge.[1][2]

This mod is for you if your Refined Storage network is growing and the basic cables feel cramped or slow. More filter slots let one device handle a lot more items, and the speed boost cuts down how many devices you need to place.[1][3]

The three tiers in this pack

Watch out: The mod's project page lists Mega as 6.5x faster, but this pack's quest text says the Mega devices work 8x faster. I'm going with the quest text for the pack. The sources don't show how the pack applies that value, so check in game if the exact speed matters to you.[1][3]

Special features

The project page lists tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters as the mod's special features.[1]

Where it fits in progression

Cable Tiers is part of the Refined Storage quest chapter. The tiers unlock one after another: each Ultra quest, such as "Ultra Importer" quest, comes after its Elite quest, and each Mega quest, such as "Mega Importer" quest, comes after its Ultra quest. The Autocrafter line works the same way, ending at "Mega Autocrafter" quest. The Elite quests themselves follow earlier Refined Storage quests, so you reach them as your storage network develops.[3]

Unverified The project page also mentions better Interface and Requester devices, but the pack sources don't show any items or quests for them, so I can't confirm they are available here.

How do you get started with Cable Tiers?

4 parts

Cable Tiers gives you faster, bigger versions of the Refined Storage devices you already know. In this pack the tiers are Elite, Ultra and Mega, and you climb them in that order. Each tier is crafted from the one below it, so don't skip ahead.[1][4]

Step 1: Start with the Elite tier

Your first Cable Tiers items are the Elite versions of the devices you use. Elite devices have 18 filter slots and work 2x faster. The Elite Autocrafter has 18 Pattern slots instead. The pack changed these recipes from the mod's defaults, so use the recipe blocks below rather than recipes you remember from other packs.[3][4]

A good first pick is the Elite Importer, with its quest a quest in "Refined Storage". Each Elite device is crafted from the matching regular Refined Storage device, so you need the normal one first.[3][4]

If you plan on autocrafting, the Elite Autocrafter is your next stop (quest a quest in "Refined Storage"). The Constructor, Destructor and Disk Interface follow the same pattern, so make them when your setup needs them.[3][4]

Step 2: Upgrade to Ultra

Ultra devices have 36 filter slots, work 5x faster, and come with a Stack Upgrade already built in. The Ultra Autocrafter has 36 Pattern slots. The pack's Ultra recipes use the Elite version of the same device, so you upgrade the device you already have instead of starting over.[3][4]

Step 3: Finish with Mega

Mega devices have 54 filter slots, work 8x faster, and keep the integrated Stack Upgrade. The Mega Autocrafter has 54 Pattern slots. The pack's Mega recipes use the Ultra version of the same device.[3][4]

Watch out: The Cable Tiers project page lists Mega as 6.5x faster, but the pack's own quests say 8x faster. Go with the 8x figure in this pack.[1][3]

Handy extras

  • The mod adds tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters.[1]
  • You can recolor tiered devices with a dye in a shapeless crafting recipe. Gray covers the Elite, Ultra and Mega Constructors, Destructors, Exporters and Importers, and light blue covers the Autocrafters and Disk Interfaces. Black versions exist too.[4]

Each Elite, Ultra and Mega device has its own quest in the Refined Storage chapter. The Ultra quests unlock after the matching Elite quest, and the Mega quests unlock after the matching Ultra quest, so the quest book is an easy way to stay on track.[3]

How does Cable Tiers work?

5 parts

Cable Tiers doesn't add a whole new system. It adds better versions of the Refined Storage Exporter, Importer, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator (called Disk Interface in the mod), Autocrafter and Interface, plus the Requester from RSRequestify. If you already know how those parts work in Refined Storage, you know the basics here. The tiers make them faster and roomier.[1]

What each tier gives you

These are the upgrade tiers above the normal part, as the mod page lists them.[1]

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]

There is also a Creative tier for each part type, and each one has its own speed setting. The Creative Autocrafter, for example, has a configurable speed.[5]

Reading the tooltips

The tooltips show you what a tier changes. Cable parts list how much faster they are than a normal one and their total filter slots, and they note when a Stack Upgrade is integrated. Autocrafters list their speed boost and their total input slots. Disk Interfaces list only their total filter slots.[5]

Interfaces work a little differently. Their tooltip gives a transfer quota multiplier and a total number of input/output slots, not a speed multiplier.[5]

Speed, energy and integrated Stack Upgrades

The mod has a configuration section for each part type: Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters, Importers and Interfaces. For each tier you can set the speed and the energy usage. Interfaces use a transfer quota multiplier in place of speed.[5]

Constructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers also have a per-tier toggle for whether the Stack Upgrade is integrated. The mod page says Ultra and Mega come with it built in, so check the tooltip on your own Elite part to see whether it carries the integrated Stack Upgrade line.[1][5]

Unverified The energy usage per tier, the Interface transfer quota multipliers, and whether this pack changes any of the tier values above are set in the mod's config. The sources here do not include that config, so they do not show these numbers.

Special features

The mod page highlights these extras: tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters.[1]

For side-specific inputs, the pattern grid has an option that lets you change the side from which resources are inserted in autocrafting. The resource slots there hold the resources that will be inserted into the target inventory.[5]

Colored variants

Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers come in dyed variants, including the Creative tier. For example, Black Elite Importer and Black Creative Autocrafter are black versions, and blue versions such as Blue Elite Constructor exist too. Coloring is a shapeless crafting recipe that takes a dye plus a part of the matching tier and type. Here is the black Elite Importer as an example.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any black dye

Other colors and part types follow the same dye plus matching tier pattern in the recipe list.

How do you progress through Cable Tiers?

4 parts

Cable Tiers upgrades the Refined Storage cable devices in three steps: Elite, then Ultra, then Mega. The pack's "Refined Storage" quest chapter walks you through them in that order.[3][4]

Tier breakdown

  • Elite: 18 filter slots (18 Pattern slots on the Autocrafter) and 2x faster work speed.[3]
  • Ultra: 36 filter slots (36 Pattern slots on the Autocrafter), 5x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[3]
  • Mega: 54 filter slots (54 Pattern slots on the Autocrafter), 8x faster, and a Stack Upgrade integrated.[3]

Each tier comes in six device types: Importer, Exporter, Destructor, Constructor, Disk Interface and Autocrafter. For the Importer line, for example, you get Elite Importer, Ultra Importer and Mega Importer.[3][4]

Following the quests

The Elite quests have no titles in the quest book, and each one asks you to obtain one Elite device. They are a quest in "Refined Storage" for the Importer, a quest in "Refined Storage" for the Exporter, a quest in "Refined Storage" for the Destructor, a quest in "Refined Storage" for the Constructor and a quest in "Refined Storage" for the Disk Interface.[3]

Each Ultra quest unlocks after the Elite quest for the same device: "Ultra Importer" quest (Importer), "Ultra Exporter" quest (Exporter), "Ultra Destructor" quest (Destructor), "Ultra Constructor" quest (Constructor) and "Ultra Disk Interface" quest (Disk Interface). The Mega quests follow the same pattern after Ultra: "Mega Importer" quest, "Mega Exporter" quest, "Mega Destructor" quest, "Mega Constructor" quest and "Mega Disk Interface" quest.[3]

The Autocrafter has its own short chain. a quest in "Refined Storage" (Elite) comes after the Autocrafter quest, then "Ultra Autocrafter" quest (Ultra), then "Mega Autocrafter" quest (Mega).[3]

Crafting each tier

The pack changes the crafting recipes for every Elite, Ultra and Mega device, so don't rely on the mod's default recipes. Elite devices are built from the matching base Refined Storage device, Ultra devices from the Elite version, and Mega devices from the Ultra version. Here is the Importer line as an example; the other device types follow the same pattern.[4]

Tip: Each upgrade consumes the previous tier's device, so craft them in order and don't skip a step. If you want the Ultra Autocrafter, you need the Elite Autocrafter first.[4]

Colouring your devices

The pack also has shapeless dye recipes that recolour a tiered device. Gray covers the Elite, Ultra and Mega Importer, Exporter, Destructor and Constructor, and light blue covers the Autocrafter and Disk Interface. Black and blue dye recipes exist for tiered devices as well.[4]

How does Cable Tiers work with other mods?

3 parts

Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage. It adds faster, bigger versions of Refined Storage parts, so almost everything it does in this pack ties back to that mod.[1]

Crafting: upgrading Refined Storage parts

The pack changes the Elite recipes. Each Elite part is crafted by upgrading its normal Refined Storage version, for example the Exporter becomes the Elite Exporter. The Advanced Processor is part of every one of these upgrades.[4]

The Ultra recipes are also changed by the pack. They build on the Elite version of the same part and need another Advanced Processor. The same pattern covers the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Interface and Autocrafter.[4]

What each tier gives you

The Refined Storage quest chapter describes each tier. Importers, Exporters, Constructors, Destructors and Disk Interfaces follow the same numbers:[3]

  • Elite: 18 filter slots and works 2x faster.[3]
  • Ultra: 36 filter slots, works 5x faster, and has a Stack Upgrade integrated.[3]
  • Mega: 54 filter slots, works 8x faster, and has a Stack Upgrade integrated.[3]
  • Autocrafters use the same tiers, but with 18, 36 and 54 Pattern slots instead of filter slots, at the same speeds.[3]

One thing to watch: the mod's own project page lists Mega as 6.5x faster, while the pack's quest text says 8x. The quest figures are the ones shown above.[1][3]

Quest progression

These upgrades are chained through quests in the Refined Storage chapter. For the Importer line you go from a quest in "Refined Storage" to "Ultra Importer" quest and then "Mega Importer" quest. The Exporter, Constructor, Destructor and Disk Interface lines work the same way.[3]

The Autocrafter line starts at a quest in "Refined Storage", which comes after the quest for the normal Refined Storage Autocrafter. It continues to "Ultra Autocrafter" quest and then "Mega Autocrafter" quest.[3]

The mod's own page also lists tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters as special features.[1]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Every Cable Tiers quest in this pack sits in the Refined Storage chapter. They're all simple "get this item" quests, and they form upgrade chains: Elite, then Ultra, then Mega. Each tier's quest unlocks after the previous tier's quest.[3]

The five cable chains

Importers, exporters, destructors, constructors and disk interfaces all follow the same pattern. The Elite quest is untitled and comes after an earlier quest in the chapter. The Ultra quest follows the Elite one, and the Mega quest follows the Ultra one.[3]

  1. Importer: a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Importer, then "Ultra Importer" quest asks for the Ultra Importer, then "Mega Importer" quest asks for the Mega Importer.[3]
  2. Exporter: a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Exporter, then "Ultra Exporter" quest asks for the Ultra Exporter, then "Mega Exporter" quest asks for the Mega Exporter.[3]
  3. Destructor: a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Destructor, then "Ultra Destructor" quest asks for the Ultra Destructor, then "Mega Destructor" quest asks for the Mega Destructor.[3]
  4. Constructor: a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Constructor, then "Ultra Constructor" quest asks for the Ultra Constructor, then "Mega Constructor" quest asks for the Mega Constructor.[3]
  5. Disk Interface: a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Disk Interface, then "Ultra Disk Interface" quest asks for the Ultra Disk Interface, then "Mega Disk Interface" quest asks for the Mega Disk Interface.[3]

The Autocrafter chain

The Autocrafter has its own chain. a quest in "Refined Storage" asks for the Elite Autocrafter and comes after the chapter's regular Autocrafter quest. "Ultra Autocrafter" quest then asks for the Ultra Autocrafter, and "Mega Autocrafter" quest finishes the line with the Mega Autocrafter.[3]

What each tier gives you

The quest descriptions spell out what you gain at each step. For the importer, exporter, destructor, constructor and disk interface:[3]

  • Elite: 18 filter slots and 2x faster operation.[3]
  • Ultra: 36 filter slots, 5x faster operation, and an integrated Stack Upgrade.[3]
  • Mega: 54 filter slots, 8x faster operation, and an integrated Stack Upgrade.[3]

The Autocrafter line swaps filter slots for Pattern slots. The Elite has 18 and works 2x faster. The Ultra has 36, works 5x faster, and has a Stack Upgrade integrated. The Mega has 54, works 8x faster, and also has a Stack Upgrade integrated.[3]

Tip: The Elite quests for the five cable types are untitled and unlock after earlier quests in the Refined Storage chapter. Those earlier quests aren't named in the quest data I have, so I can't say exactly which ones they are. The Ultra and Mega quests are titled after their items, so they're easy to spot in the chapter.[3]
