What is Applied Flux?
3 parts
Applied Flux adds energy storage to your ME network. Instead of keeping FE in separate batteries, you store it in dedicated cells on the network and manage it with the same AE tools you already use. The pack includes Applied Flux 1.21-2.1.3-neoforge.[1][2][3]
What it does
The main attraction is the ME FE Storage Cell, the primary way to store power with this mod. Capacity works in bytes, like item and fluid cells. By default, every byte holds 1,048,576 FE. The biggest cell, 256M ME FE Storage Cell, holds 281,474,976,710,656 FE at default settings. That matches the project page's claim of over 200 trillion FE. The capacity per byte can be changed in the Appflux config, and the sources don't say whether the pack changed it.[1][4]
Your terminals show the stored energy as a green fluid. It isn't a real fluid and buckets won't work on it. You can fill or drain it with any energy container, such as batteries or electric tools.[5]
To get energy out of the network and into machines, use the Flux Accessor. By default it has no I/O limits, though that can be changed in the Appflux config. It has a fast mode, which outputs every tick and may cause lag if you lean on it heavily, and a normal mode, which scales output to the target's stored energy and avoids lag.[6]
Who it's for
This mod is for players who already run an ME network and want to bring their power system into it. Everything is built around the network: cells for storage, the accessor for output, and terminals for charging and draining items. Several crafting materials support this. Energy Processor is needed by all energy devices to route energy. Insulating Resin keeps stored energy from leaking and is required for ME FE Cell Housing. Redstone Crystal can store a large amount of energy while taking up very little space.[1][3][4][7][8][9]
If you want to carry power with you, portable FE cells are a quarter the size of the normal FE cells and can automatically charge items in your inventory.[10]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified This mod is not on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it. The sources don't say when in the pack's progression you're meant to start using it.
How do you get started with Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux lets you store FE inside your ME network with special cells, then pull it back out with the Flux Accessor. Here is the order I'd build things in to get your first working energy cell.[1][3]
First, make Insulating Resin
Start with Insulating Resin. It stops stored energy from leaking, and you need it to make the cell housing, so everything else depends on it.[8]

Then, build your first storage component
The 1k ME Energy Storage Component is the entry-level component, and the pack changed its recipe. Follow the one below rather than any recipe you remember from other versions.[11]

Every bigger component is built from the one below it. For example, the 4k component uses a 1k component, and the 16k uses a 4k. That makes the 1k component the base of your whole upgrade path.[11]
Assemble the 1k ME FE Storage Cell
Put the component and the housing together to get your first 1k ME FE Storage Cell. The pack also has a direct crafting recipe for the same cell if you prefer it.[11]
Cell capacity works by bytes, just like item and fluid cells. By default every byte holds 1,048,576 FE, and the Applied Flux config can change that.[4]
Know the Energy Processor
The Energy Processor routes energy in your ME system, and all energy devices need one. You'll want it soon, because the 4k component recipe and the Flux Accessor recipe both use it.[7][11]
Add a Flux Accessor
The Flux Accessor moves FE in and out of your ME network. It pulls energy from the network, and it needs an external cable to push that energy out. By default it has no I/O limits, but the Applied Flux config can change that.[6][12]

It has a fast mode and a normal mode. Fast mode outputs energy every tick and can cause lag if you use it heavily. Normal mode bases its output on the target's stored energy, so it won't cause lag.[6]
How does Applied Flux work?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Applied Flux lets your ME network store and hand out plain FE, so you can manage your power system with AE. Everything works through storage cells, one accessor block and a few terminal tricks.[1][3]
FE storage cells
ME FE Storage Cells are the main way to store power with Applied Flux. Like item and fluid cells, their capacity is measured in bytes. By default every byte holds 1,048,576 FE.[4]
The default capacities in the guide table run from 1,073,741,824 FE for the smallest cell to 281,474,976,710,656 FE for the largest. That is why the project page says the biggest cell holds over 200 trillion FE. The cells go from 1k ME FE Storage Cell up to 256M ME FE Storage Cell.[1][4]
Unverified The per-byte FE value and the Flux Accessor I/O limits can be changed in the Appflux config. The sources here do not include the pack's config values, so the numbers on this page are the mod defaults.
Building a cell
A cell starts with an energy storage component, from 1k ME Energy Storage Component up to 256M ME Energy Storage Component. The 1k component is one of the recipes the pack changed, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod.[4][13]

There are two ways to turn a component into a finished cell. You can craft the cell directly, or you can combine the component with an ME FE Cell Housing. The 1k tier shows both recipes below.[13]

Insulating Resin stops stored energy from leaking, and you need it to make the cell housing.[8]
Energy Processor and redstone crystals
The Energy Processor manages energy flow in an ME system. Every energy device needs one to route energy. Several of the component recipes in the pack use it, such as the 4k, 16k and 256k ones.[7][13]
Plain redstone is a good energy medium but too loose to put in a cell. A redstone block combined with fluix crystal and glowstone crystallizes into redstone crystals, which store a lot of energy in very little space.[9]
The pack changed how you get the Charged Redstone Crystal Block. It comes from decompressing the compressed version.[13]

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/charged_redstone_block_1x
The pack changed this recipe: the block comes from decompressing the compressed version.
Getting energy in and out of the network
The Flux Accessor moves energy in and out of the ME network. By default it has no I/O limits. Its tooltip says it pulls energy from the network and needs an external cable to push energy.[6][12]
It has a fast mode and a normal mode. Fast mode outputs energy every tick, which can cause lag if you use it heavily. Normal mode outputs based on the target's stored energy and won't cause lag.[6]
The Induction Card allows AE devices to accept or send energy.[12][14]
Terminals and portable cells
Terminals show the stored energy as green fluid. It isn't a real fluid, so buckets can't fill it. Instead, use an energy container such as a battery or an electric tool to fill it or drain it. This lets you charge and discharge items right from the terminal.[1][5]
To output energy from a device, you need to mark FE in its config slot. Right-click the slot with an energy container to mark FE.[15]
Portable FE cells are only a quarter of the size of the normal cells. You can install an extra item in them so they automatically charge the items in your inventory.[10]
How do you progress through Applied Flux?
6 parts
Your progression with Applied Flux is a chain of crafting steps that ends in ME FE Storage Cells, the mod's primary method of power storage. The cells climb from 1k ME FE Storage Cell up to 256M ME FE Storage Cell.[4]
Unverified Quest order is told in the pack's quest book, but the sources here show no quest covering Applied Flux. The steps below follow the in-pack recipes instead.
Step 1: Redstone Crystals
Loose redstone is too bulky to put in a cell. Instead, a redstone block is crystallized together with fluix and glowstone into a Redstone Crystal, which stores a lot of energy in very little space.[9]
Transform (ae2)
- any glowstone dust
- any fluix gem
- any redstone storage block
Recipe id: appflux:transform/redstone_crystal
Next you need Charged Redstone Crystal. The pack changed the charger recipe for it, so use the one below. The pack also adds Powah energizing recipes for both the charged crystal and the Charged Redstone Crystal Block. Other routes exist too, such as an Advanced AE reaction recipe and an ExtendedAE crystal assembler recipe for the plain crystal.[11]
Charger (ae2)
- any redstone gem
Recipe id: appflux:charger/charge_redstone
Step 2: The Energy Processor
The Energy Processor routes energy through your ME system, and every energy device needs one. You make it in stages: first the Inscriber Energy Press, then the Printed Energy Circuit, then the processor itself.[7][11]
The pack changed how the press is made, so follow this recipe rather than any default you remember.[11]
Charger (ae2)
- any iron storage block

If you have ExtendedAE, a circuit cutter can turn a Charged Redstone Crystal Block into the printed circuit instead.[11]

Step 3: Resin and the cell housing
Insulating Resin stops stored energy from leaking, and you need it to make the ME FE Cell Housing. You can also turn it into Harden Insulating Resin by smelting or blasting.[8][11]

Step 4: Climb the cell tiers
Every cell starts with an energy storage component. The pack changed the recipe for the first one, 1k ME Energy Storage Component, so start with this recipe. After that, each core is crafted from the core of the previous tier, so you climb the ladder a step at a time.[11]

Each of those has its own recipe in the pack.[4][11]
Turning a core into a finished cell works the same at every tier. You can craft it directly, or combine the core with a housing. Both routes give the same cell.[11]

Capacity is byte-based, just like AE2 item and fluid cells. The mod's default is 1,048,576 FE per byte, and the Appflux config can change that.[4]
Side branch: portable cells
Portable FE cells, from 1k Portable FE Cell up to 256M ME Portable Cell, are quarter size compared with the normal FE cells. You can install an extra item in them so they automatically charge the items in your inventory.[10][11]
Side branch: getting power out
The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs the energy stored in your ME network. It has no I/O limit by default, and the Appflux config can change that. It also has a fast mode, which outputs every tick and can cause lag if used heavily, and a normal mode, which won't.[6]

How does Applied Flux work with other mods?
4 parts
Applied Flux is really an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so most of its crafting runs through AE2 parts. In this pack a few other mods plug in too, and the pack itself adds some recipes on top. Here's where everything connects.[1][11]
Applied Energistics 2
The Energy Processor is the key part. It is made in the AE2 inscriber, and everything that moves energy around your ME system needs one.[7][11]
The Flux Accessor is built from an Energy Acceptor plus the Energy Processor. Pair it with an Basic Card and you get the Induction Card.[11]

The storage components use AE2 parts at every tier. The higher tiers need Vibrant Quartz Glass, and the 1M and larger ones also want an Engineering Processor. Each finished FE cell then goes into an AE2 Quartz Glass shell.[11]
Portable FE cells also borrow from AE2 energy storage. The 1k to 256k versions use an Energy Cell, and the 1M to 256M versions use a Dense Energy Cell. Both also need an ME Chest.[11]
The pack changed the recipe for the smallest component, the 1k ME Energy Storage Component. It now runs through an Logic Processor, so check the recipe below instead of relying on the mod's default.[11]

Advanced AE
The Redstone Crystal comes from an Advanced AE reaction recipe. It turns a redstone block into a crystal that holds a lot of energy in very little space.[9][11]
ExtendedAE, Modern Industrialization and the pack's own recipes
You have several ways to make the Energy Processor beyond the inscriber. ExtendedAE's crystal assembler can make it, and the pack adds a Modern Industrialization assembler recipe that uses Molten Redstone.[11]
