What is Applied Flux?

2 parts

Applied Flux lets your ME network store and move energy. Alongside your item and fluid storage, you can keep Forge Energy (FE) in the same network using new storage cells.[1]

The cells come in different sizes, and the biggest one is huge: the largest cell can store over 200 trillion FE. That makes your ME system a very large power bank.[1]

What you can do with it

  • Store FE in your ME network using the energy cells the mod adds.[1]
  • Use the Flux Accessor to work with the energy stored in your ME network.[1]
  • Check how much energy is stored straight from your terminal.[1]
  • Charge or drain items right in the terminal, with no separate charging block needed.[1]

Who it's for

If you already run an ME network and want your power to live in the same place as your items, this mod is for you. It stores energy, lets you move it through the network with the Flux Accessor, and lets you charge gear from the terminal.[1]

This pack includes Applied Flux version 1.21-2.0.4-neoforge, and it has been in the pack since release 1.9 or earlier.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say where Applied Flux fits in the pack's progression, and there is no in-game guidebook for it. As far as we know, no quests in the pack use it and it isn't part of the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with Applied Flux?

7 parts

Applied Flux lets your ME network store Forge Energy (FE) in special storage cells, just like it stores items. You can see how much energy is stored and charge or discharge items right from the terminal. The Flux Accessor lets you pull that stored energy out and put it to work.[1]

Step 1: Charged Redstone Crystals

Most of this mod runs on Charged Redstone Crystal, so make it first. This pack has changed the Charger recipe for it, so check the version below rather than an older video or guide.[3]

If you have Advanced AE set up, there's another route. A Redstone Crystal can be turned into a Charged Redstone Crystal in a reaction recipe. You can also compress your crystals into a Charged Redstone Crystal Block for storage and uncraft the block when you need them back.[3]

Step 2: The Inscriber Energy Press

Next you need the Inscriber Energy Press. This pack has changed how you get it: it's made in a Charger instead of being found. Once you have one, you can copy it in an Inscriber so you never run short.[3]

Step 3: Energy Processors

With the press and your Charged Redstone Crystals, inscribe a Printed Energy Circuit. Then combine it into an Energy Processor. You'll want a stack of these, because the Flux Accessor and the 4k through 256k energy components all use them.[3]

Step 5: Your first FE Storage Cell

Now build a 1k ME Energy Storage Component. This pack has changed its recipe, so use the one shown here.[3]

Step 6: Getting energy in and out

The Flux Accessor pulls energy from your network. To push energy into machines, it needs an external cable connected to it. You can convert it back and forth between the block and the cable part version.[3][4]

How does Applied Flux work?

4 parts

Applied Flux turns your ME network into a giant battery. Instead of storing items or fluids, its storage cells hold Forge Energy (FE) right inside the network, so all your power lives in the same place as your stuff.[1]

Storing energy in ME cells

The heart of the mod is the ME FE Storage Cell. You slot these cells into your network like any other storage cell, and they fill up with FE instead of items. The biggest cell can hold over 200 trillion FE, so you can bank an absurd amount of power once you climb the tiers.[1]

Once energy is stored, you don't need a separate gadget to check on it. You can see how much energy is stored right from your terminal, and you can charge or discharge items directly in the terminal too.[1]

Getting energy in and out

The Flux Accessor is your main way to interact with the energy stored in the network. It pulls energy from the network, but it won't push power out on its own: you need an external cable to move that energy to where it's going.[1][4]

The Induction Card works on your existing AE devices. It lets them accept or send energy, so parts of your AE setup can take part in moving power around.[4]

Unverified Which specific AE devices take the Induction Card, how fast energy moves through the Flux Accessor or the card, and whether the Flux Accessor needs any setup beyond an external cable are not confirmed by the available sources.

Cell tiers and components

Every cell is built around an ME Energy Storage Component, and components come in ten sizes: 1k ME Energy Storage Component, 4k ME Energy Storage Component, 16k ME Energy Storage Component, 64k ME Energy Storage Component, 256k ME Energy Storage Component, 1M ME Energy Storage Component, 4M ME Energy Storage Component, 16M ME Energy Storage Component, 64M ME Energy Storage Component and 256M ME Energy Storage Component.[3]

Components are a progression chain. Each larger component in the recipe list is crafted from the tier below it: the 4k from the 1k, the 16k from the 4k, the 256k from the 64k, the 1M from the 256k, the 4M from the 1M, the 16M from the 4M and the 256M from the 64M. You can't skip straight to the big ones, so plan on crafting your way up.[3]

Watch out: This pack changed the recipe for the 1k ME Energy Storage Component, the very first component in the chain. If you're following an older video or another pack's guide, check the recipe below instead of the one you remember.[3]

Two ways to make each cell

Each cell tier has two recipes. One is a full shaped recipe that builds the cell from scratch around its component. The other is a shapeless assembly recipe that pairs the component with an ME FE Cell Housing. Both give you the same cell, for example the 1k ME FE Storage Cell.[3]

The same pattern repeats for the other cells in the pack, including the 4k ME FE Storage Cell, 16k ME FE Storage Cell, 256k ME FE Storage Cell, 1M ME FE Storage Cell, 16M ME FE Storage Cell and 256M ME FE Storage Cell: each one has a full recipe and an assembly recipe.[3]

Unverified The exact FE capacity of each cell tier, how many cells a drive can hold, and whether a housing can be reused by pulling the component back out are not confirmed by the available sources.

How do you progress through Applied Flux?

5 parts

Applied Flux progression in this pack follows one crafting chain. You charge redstone into a Charged Redstone Crystal, print it into a Printed Energy Circuit, and turn that into an Energy Processor. That processor opens up the ME Energy Storage Components, which you then turn into ME FE Storage Cells. Here's each step, with the pack's own recipes.[3]

Step 1: Charged Redstone Crystal

The basic resource is the Charged Redstone Crystal, and this pack gives you several ways to make it. The AE2 charger recipe is one the pack changed, so check the in-pack version below rather than relying on older guides.[3]

The pack also adds Powah energizing recipes that make both the Charged Redstone Crystal and the Charged Redstone Crystal Block directly, so a Powah setup is a handy route if you already have one.[3]

There's also a two-stage path through the uncharged Redstone Crystal. You can make it with an AE2 transform recipe, an ExtendedAE Crystal Assembler or an Advanced AE reaction. An Advanced AE reaction then charges it. Productive Bees can give you both crystals from a centrifuge recipe, too.[3]

Tip: You can craft Charged Redstone Crystals into a Charged Redstone Crystal Block and back again. That block isn't just storage: ExtendedAE's Circuit Cutter turns it straight into a Printed Energy Circuit.[3]

Step 2: The Energy Processor

To print circuits in the Inscriber, you need an Inscriber Energy Press. You get your first one from the AE2 charger, and the pack changed that recipe too. Once you have a press, the Inscriber can make copies of it.[3]

Step 3: Energy Storage Component tiers

The storage components are the real tier ladder. Every tier above the first uses the component from the tier below it, so you work your way up one step at a time. The k-tiers above the first use the Energy Processor. The M-tiers switch to AE2's Engineering Processor instead.[3]

  1. Starter tier: 1k ME Energy Storage Component. The pack changed this recipe.[3]
  2. k-tiers: 4k ME Energy Storage Component, then 16k ME Energy Storage Component, then 64k ME Energy Storage Component, then 256k ME Energy Storage Component.[3]
  3. M-tiers: 1M ME Energy Storage Component, then 4M ME Energy Storage Component, then 16M ME Energy Storage Component, then 64M ME Energy Storage Component, then 256M ME Energy Storage Component.[3]

Step 4: ME FE Storage Cells

Every component tier becomes a matching cell, from the 1k ME FE Storage Cell up to the 256M ME FE Storage Cell. You can craft each cell directly around its component. Or you can make an ME FE Cell Housing first and combine it with the component in a shapeless recipe.[3]

Side branch: Flux Accessor and Induction Card

Once you're making Energy Processors, you can also craft the Flux Accessor. It comes as a block and as a part, Flux Accessor, and you can convert between the two in the crafting grid. A Flux Accessor is also what you need for the Induction Card.[3]

How does Applied Flux work with other mods?

5 parts

Applied Flux lets you store FE right inside your ME network. Its biggest cell holds over 200 trillion FE, and you can check your stored energy and charge or discharge items straight from a terminal. It leans heavily on AE2 parts, and in this pack a few other mods plug into its crafting chain too.[1][3]

Making Energy Processors

Almost everything in Applied Flux runs on the Energy Processor, so this chain is where you'll start. The pack adds its own Inscriber recipe for the Printed Energy Circuit. It uses the pack's Universal Press together with a Charged Redstone Crystal.[3]

Storage components and FE cells

The ME Energy Storage Components are built from AE2 materials. The smaller tiers use the Energy Processor and Vibrant Quartz Glass. The larger M tiers switch to AE2's Engineering Processor. The pack has changed the recipe for the first tier, the 1k ME Energy Storage Component, so check the in-pack version below instead of relying on older guides.[3]

What changed in Applied Flux between versions?

1 part

Applied Flux has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time: it was first included in version 1.9 of the pack or earlier, so if you've been playing since the early releases, you've probably had it available the whole way through.[2]

All the Mods 10 2.36

In pack version 2.36, Applied Flux was updated from 1.21-2.0.3-neoforge to 1.21-2.0.4-neoforge, and that 1.21-2.0.4-neoforge build is the one shipped in this release.[2][5]

Unverified What actually changed between Applied Flux 1.21-2.0.3 and 1.21-2.0.4 (bug fixes, new features or balance tweaks) could not be confirmed, because the mod's own changelog for these versions wasn't available. Earlier updates between the pack's first inclusion and 2.36 are also not covered here.
