What is Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez gives you simple, highly configurable pipes that are designed to cause as little lag as possible. The pack includes Pipez 1.21.1-1.2.19 for NeoForge. If you want to move items, fluids, energy or gas around your base without a spaghetti mess of heavy machinery, this is the mod for you.[1][2]
Pipe types
- Item Pipe moves items.[1]
- Fluid Pipe moves fluids.[1]
- Energy Pipe moves energy.[1]
- Gas Pipe moves gas and works with Mekanism.[1]
- Universal Pipe combines all four pipe types in one. You pick which type to configure with the tabs on the left of its GUI.[1]
Why people use it
Only extracting pipes have block entities, and pipes don't load unnecessary chunks, which is why Pipez stays friendly to your server. The mod's own comparison pits its item pipes against Mekanism's logistical transporters. At about 7,200 pipes, Mekanism crashes with a stack overflow.[1]
Filtering is deep: black- and whitelisting, tag filtering, multiple filters at once, and a choice of distribution modes (round robin, nearest first, furthest first or random). A Filter Destination Tool lets you tie a filter to one specific destination block.[1][3]
Upgrades
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and only upgrades speed them up. Higher tiers give a higher transfer rate. The Basic Pipe Upgrade unlocks redstone modes, the Improved Pipe Upgrade unlocks distribution modes, and the Advanced Pipe Upgrade unlocks filter modes and filters. Your settings and filters are stored in the upgrade, and you can copy that data to other upgrades.[1][3]
Where it fits in the pack
Pipez shows up in the early logistics quests. In the basic_logistics chapter, the first Pipez quest asks for the wrench (a quest in "?"). Quests for the item, fluid, energy and gas pipes, the filter destination tool and the upgrades all unlock after it.[3]
- a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" ask for the item, fluid, energy and gas pipes.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the filter destination tool, and a quest in "?" accepts any of the four upgrade tiers.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Universal Pipe and unlocks once you've done the item, fluid and energy pipe quests.[3]
The basic_power chapter has its own quest for an energy pipe and a wrench (a quest in "?"), followed by an upgrade quest (a quest in "?"). In the xycraft chapter, a quest in "?" accepts a Pipez fluid pipe or Universal Pipe, among other mods' fluid pipes, alongside the Hydro Pump.[4][5]
How do you get started with Pipez?
4 parts
Pipez gives you pipes that move items, fluids, energy and gas without much lag. In this pack the quest book walks you through them in a sensible order, and this page follows the same path. Start with the wrench, then the basic pipes, then upgrades.[1][3]
Make the Pipe Wrench first
The Pipe Wrench is the first quest in the basic logistics chapter a quest in "?". The item pipe, fluid pipe, gas pipe, energy pipe, upgrade and filter destination tool quests all unlock after it. You need the wrench for almost everything: clicking a pipe with it lets you configure it, and sneak-clicking with it disconnects or reconnects pipes.[1][3][6]

Build the basic pipes
Next come the three core pipes: the Item Pipe a quest in "?", the Fluid Pipe a quest in "?" and the Energy Pipe a quest in "?". Make whichever matches the job in front of you first. The basic power chapter also asks for an energy pipe and a wrench together a quest in "?".[3][4]

Craft an upgrade
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and upgrades are the way to speed them up. Higher tiers give a higher transfer rate. Both the basic logistics chapter a quest in "?" and the basic power chapter a quest in "?" ask for an upgrade, and either quest accepts any of the four tiers. Start with the Basic Pipe Upgrade.[1][3][4]

Upgrades also unlock features, so you will want to climb the tiers. The Basic upgrade unlocks redstone modes. The Improved Pipe Upgrade unlocks distribution modes. The Advanced Pipe Upgrade unlocks filter modes and filters. This pack also has a recipe for the Ultimate Pipe Upgrade. Each tier is crafted from the one below it. Your settings and filters are stored in the upgrade itself, and you can copy them to other upgrades by crafting them together.[1][7]
Filters, gas and the Universal Pipe
Once you have an Advanced upgrade, filters let you control what a pipe moves. If you want a filter to apply to only one destination, craft the Filter Destination Tool a quest in "?". Click the block your pipe inserts into to store its location, then put the tool in the filter's destination slot.[1][3][6]

How does Pipez work?
7 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Pipez is all about moving things from A to B without lag. In this pack you get Item Pipe, Fluid Pipe, Energy Pipe and Gas Pipe. The gas pipe works with Mekanism. The Universal Pipe combines all four in one block. Everything is set up through a wrench and upgrades, so let's go through how it works.[1]

Pipes only move things when they extract
This catches a lot of people out: a pipe doesn't transfer anything unless it is set to extract. The mod also keeps lag low on purpose. Only extracting pipes have block entities, and pipes don't load unnecessary chunks.[1]
- Craft a Pipe Wrench and connect your pipes between the source and the destination.[1][8]
- Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with the wrench to set it to extract.[1]
- Click the extracting part of the pipe to change modes, add filters or add upgrades.[1]
- To disconnect or reconnect a pipe side, sneak-click it with the wrench.[1]

Speed and upgrades
Pipes are relatively slow by default, and you raise the speed by adding an upgrade. A higher upgrade tier means a higher transfer rate. The pipe's tooltip shows its current rate: FE per tick for energy, mB per tick for fluids and gas, and a number of items per a number of ticks for item pipes.[1][9]
The mod has five upgrade tiers: Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade, Ultimate Pipe Upgrade and Infinity. The mod describes Infinity as not craftable by default. The recipes for the other four are shown below.[1][8]

Upgrades also unlock features, so a bare pipe can't do everything:[1]
- Basic Pipe Upgrade: redstone modes (ignore, on when powered, off when powered).[1][8]
- Improved Pipe Upgrade: distribution modes (round robin, nearest first, furthest first, random).[1][8]
- Advanced Pipe Upgrade: filter modes and filters.[1][8]
Every setting you change and every filter you add is stored in the upgrade itself. To copy that data onto other upgrades, craft them together.[1]
Filters
Filters work with item pipes, fluid pipes and gas pipes. You can combine several filters on one pipe, and each filter can be a blacklist or whitelist. Filters can also be inverted with the paper button, which makes the filter apply to the exact opposite of what you entered (the destination stays the same). Filters can be copied, and the filter GUI offers tag filtering.[1]
- To add a specific object, click it onto the slot in the filter GUI, or type its ID in the text field next to the slot.[1]
- Tag entries are written with a # prefix, or you can use plain item IDs.[9]
- If the object has NBT data, the NBT string appears in a second text area. Delete that text if you don't want to match NBT.[1]
- The NBT button switches between matching the exact NBT data and matching only the tags you provided.[1][9]
- Some entry types can't have NBT tags at all, and the GUI tells you so.[9]
Per-filter destinations
A filter can apply to only one destination. For this you need the Filter Destination Tool. Click the block your pipe inserts into to store its location and face. Then put the tool in the destination slot of the filter GUI, and the destination block shows up in the filter list.[1][8][9]

Why Pipez is so light
The mod claims efficient rendering and a server-friendly design. Its project page compares Pipez item pipes against Mekanism's logistical transporters at about 4200 and about 7200 pipes. It says Mekanism's recursive connection algorithm crashes with a stack overflow at the larger size. That is the mod author's own claim, so I haven't tested it in this pack.[1]
How do you progress through Pipez?
3 parts
Pipez progression in this pack is mostly guided by the basic_logistics quest chapter. It starts with one tool, then fans out into the pipe types, the filter tool and the upgrades. Here is the path, step by step.[3]
Quest path
- Start with the Pipe Wrench in quest a quest in "?". Every other quest in the chapter branches from this one.[3]
- Pick your pipes. The quests ask for the Item Pipe (a quest in "?"), the Fluid Pipe (a quest in "?"), the Energy Pipe (a quest in "?") and the Gas Pipe (a quest in "?").[3]
- Grab the Filter Destination Tool for quest a quest in "?".[3]
- Craft any pipe upgrade for quest a quest in "?". The quest accepts the Basic, Improved, Advanced or Ultimate upgrade, so any one of them completes it.[3]
- Finish with the Universal Pipe in quest a quest in "?". It unlocks only after the fluid, item and energy pipe quests are done.[3]
Pipez also shows up in the basic_power chapter. Quest a quest in "?" wants an Energy Pipe and a Pipe Wrench, and quest a quest in "?" follows with another any-tier upgrade task.[4]
In the xycraft chapter, quest a quest in "?" pairs a Hydro Pump with a fluid pipe. Pipez's Fluid Pipe and Universal Pipe count, but so do pipes from several other mods, so you aren't forced to use Pipez there.[5]

How does Pipez work with other mods?
2 parts
Pipez keeps most of its pack integration light. The clearest tie-ins are the Gas Pipe, which exists for Mekanism, and a quest that treats Pipez pipes as interchangeable with fluid pipes from other mods.[1][5][7]
Mekanism: Gas Pipes
The Gas Pipe is the pipe type built for Mekanism gases. The mod's project page marks it as the Mekanism pipe, and the Universal Pipe bundles it together with the item, fluid and energy pipes.[1]
The pack changes the Gas Pipe recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. It is a shaped crafting recipe that uses a Mekanism material, so you need to be into Mekanism before you can make gas pipes. Here is the exact in-pack version:[7]

This recipe is changed by the pack and uses a Mekanism material.
In the basic_logistics quest chapter, the Gas Pipe quest a quest in "?" comes right after the Pipe Wrench quest a quest in "?", alongside the item, fluid and energy pipe quests.[3]
XyCraft: Hydro Pump quest
In the xycraft chapter, quest a quest in "?" asks you to bring a Hydro Pump together with a fluid pipe. The quest isn't picky about whose pipe it is. It accepts a Fluid Pipe or a Universal Pipe, and it also accepts fluid pipes from Modern Dynamics and Immersive Engineering, as well as the basic, advanced, elite and ultimate mechanical pipes from Mekanism.[5]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Pipez?
3 parts
Pipez shows up in three quest chapters in this pack: basic_logistics, basic_power and xycraft. None of these quests has a custom title, so I'll point to them by their quest references and describe what each one asks for.[3][4][5]
basic_logistics
This is the main Pipez chapter. It starts with a quest in "?", which asks you to get the Pipe Wrench. Most of the other quests in the chapter unlock after it.[3]
Once the wrench quest is done, these quests open up. You can do them in any order:[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Item Pipe.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Fluid Pipe.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Energy Pipe.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Gas Pipe.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Filter Destination Tool.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for a pipe upgrade. Any one of the Basic Pipe Upgrade, Improved Pipe Upgrade, Advanced Pipe Upgrade or Ultimate Pipe Upgrade counts.[3]
The last quest in the chapter is a quest in "?", which asks for the Universal Pipe. It only unlocks once you have finished the item pipe, fluid pipe and energy pipe quests.[3]
basic_power
Here a quest in "?" asks for the Energy Pipe and the Pipe Wrench together. It follows an earlier quest in that chapter that isn't covered by the Pipez sources.[4]
After that, a quest in "?" asks for a pipe upgrade. As in basic_logistics, any of the four upgrade tiers works: basic, improved, advanced or ultimate.[4]
xycraft
Pipez is only an optional part of a quest in "?". The quest asks for the Hydro Pump from XyCraft Machines, plus a fluid pipe. Several mods' fluid pipes are accepted, and both the Fluid Pipe and the Universal Pipe count. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[5]
