XyCraft Machines in All the Mods 10: To the Sky

This pack ships XyCraft Machines 0.7.53. The pack's quest book gives it its own chapter, "XyCraft", which covers a multiblock fluid tank, item storage and automation blocks, early flight, mob-proofing and farming helpers.^[1][2]

Where it fits in the quest book

The chapter opens with a standalone quest for Balloon on a Stick. Most of the rest hangs off the Kivi quest. Reinforce the Kivi with Aluminum to get Machine Base (a quest in "XyCraft"), which the quest says is needed to craft machines. The fluid storage, item storage and Extractor quests all follow Kivi directly.^[2]

Several blocks follow both the machine base quest and a Xychorium gem quest. Light Field follows the Light gems, Accelerated Planter the Green gems, Ignition Plate the Red gems, Water Block the Blue gems, and Fluid Void the Dark gems.^[2]

Highlights

• Balloon on a Stick is an early and restrictive source of creative flight. Go too far from it and you get detached and fall.^[2]
• Extractor "grows" the block or item beneath it and moves it to an inventory above. The quest suggests cobblestone, amethyst or even Dragon Egg generators.^[2]
• Collector works as a very cheap absorption hopper. It picks up items within a 3 block radius, and Redstone can turn it off.^[2]
• Light Field works like a mega torch. Mobs won't spawn in an area of about a 32 block radius around it.^[2]
• Accelerated Planter works like farmland, but it is automatically watered and faster.^[2]
• Fabricator is the auto-crafter. It takes items from the inventory below and makes a set recipe, and you can lock recipes with CTRL Click.^[2]

Fluid tank and storage

The quests describe a fluid tank multiblock built around Fluid Port. Valve is the heart of the tank, where you pump or pipe fluids in, and Item IO moves items in and out. Hydro Pump can feed water into pipes slowly and for free.^[2]

On the item side, Item Port covers storage and manipulation, and Soaryn Box is described as the chest of XyCraft. Void Container turns any inventory it sits on into a trash can.^[2]

XyCraft Machines gives you storage, tanks and a few handy utility blocks. This is the order I'd make things in this pack, following the quest chapter and the in-pack recipes.^[2][3]

Machine Base first

Start with the Machine Base. The quest chapter says it's needed to craft machines, and recipes like the Valve and the Item IO use it. Make several.^[2][3]

Then the Aluminum Wrench

Next, grab the Aluminum Wrench. The Item IO tooltip says its fill or drain side can be toggled with a wrench, so it's worth having one before you build storage setups.^[3][4]

Item storage and collection

The Item Port is the base for the item-handling blocks. The quest chapter's item storage branch starts with it ("Item Storage and Manipulation" quest).^[2][3]

From there, make a Soaryn Box, the chest of XyCraft (a quest in "XyCraft"). The quest warns that it will not hold items once the block is broken, so empty it before you move it.^[2][3]

Then craft a Collector (a quest in "XyCraft"). The quest calls it a very cheap absorption hopper. It picks up items within a 3 block radius and puts them in the inventory below it or in its own, and redstone can switch it off.^[2][3]

For fluids, start with the Fluid Port ("Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest). The quest describes XyCraft's fluid tank as a multiblock.^[2][3]

Finally, the Hydro Pump puts water into a connected tank automatically. The quest says it works at a slow rate but is free, and you'll still need pipes to carry the fluid ("Pipes" quest). Its recipe uses the Water Block.^[2][3][4]

Handy extras once you're set up

• Light Field: works like a mega torch, and mobs won't spawn in a set area around it. The quest says that's about a 32 block radius ("Light Field" quest).^[2]
• Extractor: "grows" the block or item beneath it and moves it into an inventory above, which the quest suggests for cobblestone or amethyst generators (a quest in "XyCraft").^[2]
• Accelerated Planter: farmland that is automatically watered and faster than normal farmland ("Accelerated Planter" quest).^[2]

XyCraft Machines is built from a few base blocks that you link with ports, tanks and pipes. The mod has Energy Pipe and Fluid Pipe blocks for moving power and fluids. Here is what the sources tell us about how the pieces behave.^[4]

Item handling and automation

• Collector: filterable, and it collects items before they become item entities.^[4]
• Fabricator: crafts items automatically. Its screen has three options: Always On, High Signal and Pulse.^[4]
• Extractor: pulls items and fluids out of the environment. It has its own recipe type, and one recipe turns leaves and logs into 10 Resin.^[3][4]
• Item IO: the tooltip says its fill or drain side can be toggled with a wrench. The pack also has the Aluminum Wrench.^[3][4]

Fluids and tanks

The Valve block allows the creation of tanks, and its tooltip lists a maximum size. The tank screen shows Capacity and Empty states. Jade has a Tank Info option and an Extractor Info option for reading these.^[4]

Hydro Pump automatically pumps water into a connected tank. Its tooltip says it can be extracted from at a higher rate, and it lists a base rate and a waterlogged rate, both per cycle.^[4]

Unverified The sources here give no numbers for pump rates, tank sizes, energy capacity or transfer, and no details on how multiblock structures are assembled. There is no in-jar guide and no config file for this mod in the pack, so check these in game.

XyCraft Machines in this pack is progressed through a single quest chapter, which starts at the Kivi quest and branches into storage, fluids and Xychorium-color machines. This section follows that quest order, then covers the pack-changed recipes that the quests don't mention.^[2][3]

Step 1: the Machine Base

Four quests unlock straight after the Kivi quest: the item storage branch, the fluid storage branch, the Extractor, and a quest in "XyCraft". That last one has you craft the Machine Base. The quest calls these Machine Frames and says they're needed to craft machines.^[2]

The sources for this pack only show one clear connection between XyCraft Machines and other mods, so this section is short. Here is what is confirmed.^[2][3]

Pipes from other mods

The "Pipes" quest quest pairs the Hydro Pump with a fluid pipe from another mod. It accepts Fluid Pipe, Fluid Pipe and Fluid Pipe. It also accepts Universal Pipe and the four Mekanism mechanical pipes: Basic Mechanical Pipe, Advanced Mechanical Pipe, Elite Mechanical Pipe and Ultimate Mechanical Pipe.^[2]

The quest explains why you want this setup: liquids need pipes to get into the Tank, and the Hydro Pump can automatically put water into them at a slow rate, for free. You can pick whichever pipe type you already use.^[2]

Aluminum and the Refinery

Aluminum is the other link. The quest for Machine Base says you reinforce the Kivi with Aluminum to get Machine Frames, which are needed to craft machines. The pack also has a Refinery recipe, shown below, that involves Aluminum Ingot and Ore Slurry.^[2][3]

Everything for this mod lives in a single quest chapter called XyCraft. It starts with one standalone quest, then splits into a few small branches. Most of them hang off a quest named Kivi, which sits outside this mod's own list of quests.^[2]

Where it starts

a quest in "XyCraft" (Up!) asks you to get the Balloon on a Stick. It has no prerequisite listed, so you can grab it any time. The quest describes it as an early, restrictive source of Creative Flight: you're attached to a balloon, and if you fly too far you get detached and fall.^[2]

Branches that unlock after Kivi

Four quests unlock right after Kivi, and each one asks you to obtain a single item:^[2]

• a quest in "XyCraft" asks for the Machine Base. The quest says you get Machine Frames by reinforcing the Kivi with Aluminum, and that they are needed to craft machines.^[2]

Three quests follow "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest:^[2]

• "Pipes" quest asks for the Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe. Several pipe types from other mods count. The quest says the Hydro Pump puts Water into pipes slowly, but for free.^[2]
• "Item IOs" quest asks for the Item IO, which moves items in and out of the tank and can be toggled between output and input.^[2]
• "Valves" quest asks for the Valve. The quest calls it the heart of your tank, and it's where you pump or pipe fluids in.^[2]

The item storage line

a quest in "XyCraft" comes after "Item Storage and Manipulation" quest and asks for the Soaryn Box, the chest of XyCraft. The quest warns that it will not keep its items when you break the block. Three quests then open up from there:^[2]

The last group needs a quest in "XyCraft" plus a quest for one colour of Xychorium Gem. Those gem quests aren't part of this chapter's list, so I can't tell you what they ask for.^[2]

• "Light Field" quest (Light Xychorium Gems) asks for the Light Field. It works like a Mega Torch, and mobs won't spawn in a radius of about 32 blocks around it.^[2]
• "Accelerated Planter" quest (Green Xychorium Gems) asks for the Accelerated Planter. It works like Farmland, but it's watered automatically and is faster.^[2]
• "Ignition Plate" quest (Red Xychorium Gems) asks for the Ignition Plate. It spawns fire in front of it when given a Redstone signal and puts the fire out when the signal stops.^[2]
• "Water Block" quest (Blue Xychorium Gems) asks for the Water Block. It acts as Water without the flowing. You can make Cobble Gens with it and water Farmland with it, but you can't MLG clutch on it.^[2]
• "Fluid Void" quest (Dark Xychorium Gems) asks for the Fluid Void. It removes any water within a 1 block radius, source or flowing.^[2]
