What is Modern Dynamics?
2 parts
Modern Dynamics is an item and fluid pipe mod for NeoForge, inspired by Thermal Dynamics. This pack ships version 0.9.6. The mod's page lists it as a beta that should be safe to use in worlds, with no breaking changes planned.[1][2]
What it does
It gives you pipes for moving items and fluids, plus attachments that decide how they behave. Here is the rundown:[1]
- Extractor: place it on an item or fluid pipe so the pipe can extract from adjacent inventories.[1]
- Attractor: on an item pipe it pulls from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe it increases the speed at which fluids are pulled from the network.[1]
- Filter: does what you would expect it to do.[1]
- Inhibitor: item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory, but an inhibitor adds 1,000 to the length of a connection for pathfinding, so pipes avoid that connection if they can.[1]
- Machine Extender: sits on top of a machine to give more space for pipes to connect, and can be stacked.[1]
- Wrench: configures the pipes, and the pipes also work with any standard wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag.[1]
The mod page also says that when Modern Industrialization is loaded, Modern Dynamics adds energy cables that carry EU.[1]
Where the quest book puts it
The pack has no quest chapter of its own for Modern Dynamics. It shows up in the XyCraft chapter, in the quest "Pipes" quest. That quest asks for a Hydro Pump plus any one of several fluid pipes, and the Fluid Pipe is one of the accepted options, alongside pipes from Pipez, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering.[3]
The quest text says you need pipes to get liquids into the Tank, and that the Hydro Pump can put water into them for free at a slow rate.[3]
Before it comes "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest. After it comes "The Tank" quest, which also follows "Valves" quest and "Item IOs" quest.[3]
How do you get started with Modern Dynamics?
6 parts
Modern Dynamics is the pipe mod in this pack. It moves items and fluids around, and it adds EU cables when Modern Industrialization is loaded. Nearly all of its recipes are changed by the pack, so the recipe blocks below are the ones to trust, not the mod's defaults.[1][4]
Start with Item Pipes
Make Item Pipe first. It is the backbone of item transport, and by default item pipes prefer the closest inventory.[1]

Craft a Wrench
The Wrench is what you use to configure your pipes, so make it before you build anything bigger. The pipes also work with any standard wrench from other mods.[1]

Add an Extractor
Place an Extractor on an item or fluid pipe and that pipe can extract from the adjacent inventories. That is how you get things moving out of a chest or machine.[1]

Move fluids
For liquids you want the Fluid Pipe. The pack's quest book has the "Pipes" quest quest in the XyCraft chapter, which comes after Fluid Storage and Manipulation. It accepts Modern Dynamics Fluid Pipes along with pipes from several other mods.[3]

Fine-tune your network
- Attractor: on an item pipe it pulls from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe it speeds up how fast the pipe pulls fluids from the network.[1]
- Filter: controls which items get through. Its settings include whitelist and blacklist modes.[1][5]
- Inhibitor: adds 1000 to the length of a connection for pathfinding, so item pipes avoid that connection if they can.[1]

Machine Extenders and cables
When a machine's sides get crowded, put a Machine Extender on top of it. It gives pipes more space to connect, and extenders can be stacked. This recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[1][4]

One craft makes 4 Machine Extenders.
Modern Dynamics also adds EU cables: LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. In this pack each one is crafted from the matching Modern Industrialization cable, and the pack changed those recipes. They carry EU like Modern Industrialization's own cables, they just look different.[1][4]
The LV cable as an example: one Modern Industrialization Tin Cable makes 4 LV EU Cables. The other tiers use their own matching cable.
How does Modern Dynamics work?
6 parts
Modern Dynamics is described on its project page as an item and fluid pipe mod inspired by Thermal Dynamics. The idea is that you can run Item Pipe and Fluid Pipe between machines and inventories, then add attachments to the pipes.[1][5]
Pipes and attachments
The project page lists these attachments, which are placed on pipes:[1][5]
- Extractor: place it on an item pipe or a fluid pipe and that pipe can extract from the adjacent inventory.[1][5]
- Attractor: on an item pipe, it allows the pipe to pull from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe, it can increase the speed at which the pipe pulls fluids from the network.[1][5]
- Filter: restricts what the pipe handles. Its settings include Whitelist or Blacklist mode, Match Damage or Ignore Damage, Match Tag Data or Ignore Tag Data, mod-based filtering (Ignore Mod or Include Listed Mods), Include Similar Items, and an Invert option.[5]
- Inhibitor: item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory. The project page says an inhibitor increases the length of a connection by 1,000 for pathfinding purposes, which makes item pipes avoid that connection if possible.[1][5]
Settings and upgrades
The attachment screens expose more control than the item names suggest. The mod has a Routing Mode setting with these options: Closest First, Furthest First, Random and Round-Robin. There is also an Oversending Mode setting (Allow Over-sending or Prevent Over-sending) and a Redstone Control section that shows the signal required and the control status.[5]
You can also limit the flow. One setting caps the maximum amount extracted per operation, and another caps the maximum total number of items in the inventory, which can be set to Infinite.[5]
Attractors, extractors and filters have upgrade slots. In EMI, JEI or REI, press U on one of them to see which upgrades are available. The upgrade tooltips list their effects: filter slots, base and total fluid transfer, max moved items, item speed, item transfer frequency, and Advanced Behavior. Some options are marked as requiring the Advanced Behavior upgrade.[5]
Configuring with the wrench
The Wrench is the mod's tool for configuring pipes. The project page also says the pipes are compatible with any standard wrench that uses the common wrench tool tag.[1][5]
Machine Extender
The Machine Extender goes on top of a machine to extend it, which gives you more space for pipes to connect. Machine Extenders can be stacked, so you can keep building upward when a machine is crowded.[1]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: moderndynamics:machine_extender
This one is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
EU cables
The project page says that when Modern Industrialization is loaded, these energy cables are available: LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. It describes them as transmitting EU similarly to the Modern Industrialization cables, just with a different look.[1][5]
In this pack, each tier is made by crafting the matching Modern Industrialization cable, and one craft gives you 4 Modern Dynamics cables.[4]

How do you progress through Modern Dynamics?
4 parts
Modern Dynamics doesn't have a quest ladder of its own in this pack, so your progression here is driven by recipes. It breaks into three steps: pipes first, then the tools that go on them, then the EU cable tiers. Almost every recipe for the mod has been changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3][4]
Where the quest book touches it
The only place the quest book names the mod in the chapter I could check is the "Pipes" quest quest in the XyCraft chapter. It comes after "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest, and it asks for a Hydro Pump plus any one of several pipes. Fluid Pipe is one of the accepted options, alongside pipes from other mods. The quest text says you need some sort of pipes to get liquids into the Tank, which is what "The Tank" quest builds next.[3]
Step 1: Pipes
Start with Item Pipe for items and Fluid Pipe for fluids. The pack changed both recipes, and each craft gives you 8 pipes.[4]

Step 2: Tools and pipe upgrades
Once you have pipes, these are the other Modern Dynamics items with in-pack recipes. The pack changed the recipes for the Wrench, Extractor, Filter, Attractor and Inhibitor, while the Machine Extender uses the mod's own recipe.[4]
- Wrench: pack-changed recipe.[4]
- Extractor: pack-changed recipe.[4]
- Filter: pack-changed recipe.[4]
- Attractor: pack-changed recipe.[4]
- Inhibitor: pack-changed recipe, makes 4.[4]
- Machine Extender: the mod's own recipe, makes 4.[4]

Step 3: EU cable tiers
The cables climb through several tiers. In this pack each tier is a shapeless recipe that converts one matching Modern Industrialization cable into 4 Modern Dynamics cables, and the pack changed all of these recipes. That means you need the Modern Industrialization cable for a tier before you can get its Modern Dynamics version.[4]
- LV EU Cable: the lowest tier.[4]
- MV EU Cable: the next step up.[4]
- HV EU Cable: the third tier.[4]
- EV EU Cable: the fourth tier.[4]
- Superconductor EU Cable: the top tier.[4]

How does Modern Dynamics work with other mods?
3 parts
Modern Dynamics mostly plugs into two other places in this pack: Modern Industrialization, for energy cables, and the XyCraft quest chapter, for fluid pipes.[1][3][4]
Modern Industrialization cables
When Modern Industrialization is loaded, Modern Dynamics adds its own EU cables. They carry EU like the Modern Industrialization ones, they just look cooler. The mod page lists LV, MV, HV and Superconductor, but the pack's recipes also include an EV tier.[1][4]
- LV EU Cable matches Tin Cable[4]
- MV EU Cable matches Electrum Cable[4]
- HV EU Cable matches Aluminum Cable[4]
- EV EU Cable matches Annealed Copper Cable[4]
- Superconductor EU Cable matches Superconductor Cable[4]
Each of those tiers has a matching Modern Industrialization cable, and the pack sets up a pair of conversion recipes for each one. Going from a Modern Industrialization cable to a Modern Dynamics cable gives you 4 cables per craft. Going back the other way is a one-for-one swap. The pack changed all of these recipes from the mod's own.[4]
Here are the tiers from lowest to highest. For each one, the first recipe is the swap back to Modern Industrialization and the second is the swap from it.[4]

Machine Extender
The Machine Extender sits on top of a machine and gives you more space for pipes to connect. Extenders can be stacked. The mod page shows it on a Modern Industrialization Chemical Reactor.[1]
XyCraft quests
In the XyCraft chapter, the "Pipes" quest quest asks you to get liquids into the XyCraft Tank. Its second task accepts a Fluid Pipe as one of several pipe options, alongside pipes from other mods. It comes after "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest, and "The Tank" quest comes after it.[3]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Modern Dynamics?
2 parts
Modern Dynamics only shows up in one quest in the pack, and it's in the XyCraft chapter. The chapter is mostly about XyCraft machines, so the quest isn't about Modern Dynamics itself. It just accepts the mod's pipe as one of the options.[3]
The Pipes quest
The quest is "Pipes" quest. It has two tasks: hand in a Hydro Pump, and hand in a pipe. The Fluid Pipe counts for the pipe task, but so do fluid pipes from other mods (Pipez, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering), so you can use whichever you already have.[3]
The quest text explains the point: you need some sort of pipes to get liquids into the Tank, and the Hydro Pump can automatically put Water into them at a slow rate, for free.[3]
Where it sits in the chapter
"Pipes" quest comes right after "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest, which is the start of the XyCraft fluid tank line. That quest itself follows "Kivi" quest.[3]
After the pipes, the next step is "The Tank" quest. It needs four quests done first: "Fluid Storage and Manipulation" quest, "Valves" quest, "Item IOs" quest and Pipes. In that quest you build the multiblock tank, and the pipes are how you get fluid into it through a valve.[3]
What changed in Modern Dynamics between versions?
Modern Dynamics 0.9.6 is the version in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4, shipped as Modern-Dynamics-0.9.6.jar. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[2]
The mod's own changelog for 0.9.6 doesn't list changes. It just points to the releases page on the mod's GitHub repository, so look there for what changed between mod versions.[6]
