What is Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum is an automation addon for Ex Deorum. If you're tired of sifting and hammering by hand, it adds an RF powered Sieve, Hammer, and Compactor so those jobs can run on their own.[1]

Power is on you

The mod doesn't generate power, so you need a separate mod for that. The project page suggests Thermal Expansion or Powah! Rearchitected as examples. Its showcase photo also features CobbleForDays, Pipez, and Thermal Expansion.[1]

Version in this pack

The pack ships Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum 1.1.1, using the file exmachinis-1.18.2-1.1.1.jar. It was first included in this pack's version or an earlier one.[2]

How do you get started with Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum?

5 parts

Ex Machinis is an automation addon for Ex Deorum. It adds an RF-powered sieve, hammer and compactor, so you can stop right-clicking and pounding by hand. The mod does not generate power itself, so you need a separate power mod before the RF machines will run.[1]

Start with the Item Buffer

The Item Buffer takes items from its internal inventory and moves them into an inventory below it, and it tries to move everything each cycle. It does not require power, so you can use it before you have set up any RF.[3]

Automate hammering

Next is the Flux Hammer, for when you are tired of pounding sand. It takes items from an inventory above it and places the outputs into an inventory in front of it. Its recipe uses the Ex Deorum Diamond Hammer, so make that first.[3][4]

Automate sieving

The Flux Sieve takes over the right-clicking. It works from its internal inventory and places the outputs into an inventory below. Its recipe uses a sieve from the sieves tag, so you need one of those first. You can also enchant its meshes with Fortune in an anvil to increase drop chances.[3][4]

Compact the leftovers

Once pesky pieces start filling your storage, craft the Flux Compactor. It takes items from its internal inventory and places the outputs into an inventory below.[3]

Upgrades

Upgrades increase the number of items the hammer, sieve and compactor process at once. On the Item Buffer they increase the cycle speed instead. The Gold Upgrade comes first, and the Diamond Upgrade is crafted from it.[3][4]

The Comparator Upgrade can be added to an Item Buffer to produce a redstone signal in a particular direction. You could use that signal to turn off other machines. Sneak + right-click a block with it to set the redstone output direction to the clicked face.[3]

Tip: Each of these machines can be disabled by a redstone signal. To change a machine's output side, shift + right-click it with an Ex Nihilo hammer. The machine tooltips also show the RF per tick and the processing time, which helps when you size your power setup.[3]

How does Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Ex Machinis is an automation addon for Ex Deorum. It adds RF-powered machines that do the tedious sifting, hammering and compacting for you. The mod doesn't generate power itself, so you need another mod's generators to run them. The project page suggests Thermal Expansion or Powah! Rearchitected as examples.[1]

The three RF machines

The Flux Hammer, Flux Sieve and Flux Compactor are the automatic versions of hammering, sieving and compacting. All three need RF. Their tooltips show the RF per tick, the RF cost per item, the processing time in ticks, and a progress readout in seconds. I can't give you the exact figures here because none of the sources list them.[1][3]

  • Flux Hammer: takes items from an inventory above it and puts the outputs into an inventory in front of it.[3]
  • Flux Sieve: takes items from its internal inventory and puts the outputs into an inventory below it. You can enchant meshes with Fortune in an anvil to increase drop chances.[3]
  • Flux Compactor: takes items from its internal inventory and puts the outputs into an inventory below it.[3]

All three machines share some behavior. Upgrades increase the number of items processed at once, and a redstone signal disables the block. You can change the output side by shift + right-clicking the machine with an Ex Nihilo hammer.[3]

Tip: The Hammer is the odd one out. It pulls from above and outputs to its front, while the Sieve and Compactor use their internal inventory and output downward. Plan your chests and pipes around that, and use the hammer click to change the output side if the default doesn't fit your layout.[3]

Item Buffer

The Item Buffer is a logistics block. It takes items from its internal inventory and moves them into an inventory below it, and it tries to move everything in the inventory each cycle. Unlike the other machines, it needs no power. Upgrades increase its cycle speed. A redstone signal disables it, and the output side can be changed with the same Ex Nihilo hammer shift + right-click.[3]

Upgrades

Upgrades go into the machines to speed them up. On the Flux machines they raise the number of items processed at once. On the Item Buffer they raise the cycle speed. The pack has a Gold Upgrade and a Diamond Upgrade, and the mod's advancements also mention a Netherite Upgrade.[3]

Unverified The sources don't say how much each upgrade tier (Gold, Diamond, Netherite) improves a machine, how many upgrades fit in one machine, or how the Netherite Upgrade is crafted. Check in-game with JEI before you plan around specific numbers. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Redstone control with the Comparator Upgrade

The Comparator Upgrade lets the Item Buffer produce a redstone signal in a particular direction. You can use that signal to turn off other machines. To set the direction, sneak + right-click a block with the upgrade, and the output direction becomes the face you clicked.[3]

Recipe id: exmachinis:comparator_upgrade

Unverified The sources don't say what condition makes the Comparator Upgrade emit its signal, or whether the Flux machines accept it. The only documented use is on the Item Buffer. The pack also has no config files for this mod, so there is nothing to tweak in the machine speeds or RF costs.

How do you progress through Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum?

2 parts

The sources show no quest path for this mod, so progression here comes down to the crafting recipes. They do show a clear order: the machines are crafted on their own, and the upgrades build on each other.[4]

Unverified The sources here show no quests in this pack that involve this mod, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path. No in-jar guidebook was found either, so what each machine and upgrade actually does in play is not shown here.

The machines

You can craft each machine straight from its in-pack recipe. None of them needs an upgrade first, so start with whichever fits what you want to automate.[4]

The upgrade tiers

The upgrades form a short ladder. The Gold Upgrade has its own recipe, and the Diamond Upgrade is crafted from a Gold Upgrade, so you always make the Gold tier first.[4]

The Comparator Upgrade sits beside that ladder rather than on it. It has its own recipe and does not need the Gold or Diamond Upgrade.[4]

Tip: If you want the Diamond Upgrade, craft the Gold Upgrade first, because the Diamond recipe takes a Gold Upgrade as an ingredient.[4]

How does Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum work with other mods?

2 parts

Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum is an automation addon for Ex Deorum, so that's where its main connection to the rest of the pack lives. It adds an RF powered Sieve, Hammer and Compactor.[1]

Ex Deorum: the Flux Hammer

The clearest link in the pack's recipes is the Flux Hammer. Its crafting recipe starts from the Diamond Hammer from Ex Deorum, so you get your hands on Ex Deorum's hammer first and then upgrade it into the powered version. It is a shaped crafting recipe, listed as a mod recipe.[4]

This is the Flux Hammer recipe as it appears in this pack.

Besides the hammer, the recipe uses a Hopper, and it accepts any item from the glass panes tag and any item from the iron storage blocks tag. That gives you some freedom in what you use for those slots.[4]

Power from other mods

Ex Machinis does not generate power itself, so you need a separate mod for that. The mod's own page names Thermal Expansion and Powah! Rearchitected as examples of mods that can fill that role.[1]

What changed in Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 ships with Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum 4.0.1. The mod was first included in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier.[5]

4.0.1

This is the version in the pack, and the mod's own changelog for it lists these changes:[5][6]

  • The item buffer now attempts to transfer the whole inventory each cycle.[6]
  • A new iridium chunk compacting recipe was added.[6]
