What is AdvancedAE?
3 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that focuses on convenience and a better experience when you handle your ME System. It also expands what you can do with end-game systems. If you already have an ME network running and want to automate more with fewer pipes, more crafting power and some handy gear, this mod is for you.[1][2]
The pack includes AdvancedAE 1.2.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[3]
What you get
- Advanced Pattern Providers: with an Advanced Pattern Encoder, you choose which face of the target machine each input is sent to. That means one block instead of several pipes and used sides.[1][4][5]
- Quantum Computer: a multiblock crafting unit that runs an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has enough crafting storage. All the tasks share the co-processors. It can be scaled up to 5x5x5 and uses a single channel.[1][2][6]
- Quantum Crafter: a powerful auto crafter that does crafting operations every tick straight from your ME System's inventory.[1]
- Quantum Armor Set: armor that links to your ME System and takes upgrade cards for things like flight, night vision, a magnet and auto feeding.[1][7]
- Reaction Chamber: a power-hungry machine that processes materials efficiently and is used to make various items you need to progress in the mod.[1]
- Stock Export Bus and ME Throughput Monitor: the bus keeps an exact amount of items in a target inventory, and the monitor tracks items, fluids and energy on your system.[1]
- Import Export Bus: a mixture of an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets the exported stacks, and anything that is not on the filter can be imported.[8]
Upgrading existing providers
You don't have to rebuild your setup. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts regular AE2 Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Providers while keeping their slot count. The Capacity Upgrade turns a regular Pattern Provider into an Advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[1][9]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack's quest book touches the mod through the basic_armor chapter. The quest a quest in "?" has you obtain the Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots.[10]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so everything here plugs into your ME system. It adds smarter pattern providers, a multiblock crafting computer, an auto-crafter and a wearable ME armor set. Here is the order I'd tackle them in.[1][2]
Step one: pattern encoder and provider
Start with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it in hand to open its GUI. You drop an encoded processing pattern into it, and for each ingredient you pick which face of the target machine it gets pushed into. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.[4][11]

Those patterns only work properly in the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider. This is what lets one block feed a machine that needs specific inputs on specific sides, with no pipes. The pack changed this recipe too.[5][11]

The provider and its cable-part form, Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, each convert into the other with a single shapeless recipe.[11]
Step two: the Reaction Chamber
Next, build the Reaction Chamber. The Shattered Singularity comes out of a chemical reaction in it, and several of the quantum computer recipes below use that item.[11][12]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:reactionchamber
Step three: the quantum computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and the crafts it runs can share co-processors. The pack changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator, so check the recipes below rather than trusting other guides for those two.[2][6][11]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaequantumaccel
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the computer. On its own it gives 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer by itself. When it runs standalone, power has to come in through its Up or Down sides.[6]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
To grow it into a multiblock, add Quantum Computer Structural Glass for the outside layer, 128M Quantum Computer Storage for more storage and more accelerators for more threads. Each accelerator adds 8 co-processors.[6][11]

Step four: quantum armor
When you're ready to wear your ME system, craft the four armor pieces. The pack's quest book has a quest for the full set in the basic_armor chapter: a quest in "?".[7][10][11]

Link each piece to your system by inserting it into the appropriate slots, and stay within range of the access point so the extra perks work. With the pieces equipped, press N (the default) to open the configuration menu and install upgrade cards. Every card needs the Quantum Upgrade Base Card as an ingredient, so craft that first.[7][11]

How does AdvancedAE work?
7 parts
Advanced AE is an AE2 addon built around three ideas: telling pattern providers which side of a machine to push items into, a multiblock crafting computer that shares its co-processors between every job, and a pile of quality of life blocks and tools. This section walks through how each system works.[1][2]
Directional pattern providers
This is the big one for automation. With an Advanced Pattern Provider, each input in a pattern can be pushed into a specific face of the target machine, so you can feed a side-picky machine with one block and no pipes. The guide jokes that this is aimed at Mekanism.[5]
You set the faces with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it in hand to open its GUI, then put an encoded processing pattern in the left slot. The raw ingredients show up as a list, and each row has one button per block face the ingredient can go to. Leave it on the "A" button and the item goes to whatever face is directly connected to the provider. Pick a face and items are forced into that one.[4][12]
To use the feature, insert an encoded pattern into the encoder and take out the advanced version. Then load that into an advanced provider.[5]
The pack changed the recipes for both the encoder and the compact Advanced Pattern Provider, so check the recipes below instead of relying on the mod's defaults.[11]

The cable-part form, Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, can be turned into the full block, Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, with a shapeless crafting recipe.[11]
Upgrading existing providers
You don't have to rebuild your setup. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Providers. The result keeps the same number of slots, so you don't lose the materials you spent on the extended version.[9]
The Capacity Upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[9]
The Quantum Computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage. The crafting patterns it runs are able to share its co-processors. The project page also says the whole multiblock uses a single channel.[1][2][6]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart. On its own it gives 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer by itself. Used standalone, it takes power through its Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[6][12]
To go bigger, you build a multiblock around the core with these parts:[6]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add 128M or 256M of crafting storage, which raises how many tasks can run at once.[6]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 8 co-processors each to the multiblock.[6]
- Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage by 4. Only one fits in each multiblock.[6]
- Quantum Computer Multi-Threader multiplies the accelerators' co-processing power by 4. Only one fits in each multiblock.[6]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass is the framing that connects everything. It is used in the outside layer of the multiblock.[6][12]
The guide also says no empty spaces are allowed inside the multiblock. The size limit, the co-processors per accelerator, the multi-threader and entangler limits and their multiplier values are all server configs. Item tooltips show the limits for your instance, so read those before you plan a build.[6][12]
Unverified The maximum multiblock size in this pack is a server config value, and the sources here do not show the pack's setting or any config file for this mod. Check the tooltip of the Quantum Structure block in game.
The Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that reads the ME system's inventory directly. It can run fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input is also an output. Place it in your network and connect it with a cable. It needs a single channel.[1][14]
- Encode the recipes you want run indefinitely as crafting patterns and insert them into the crafter's pattern slots.[14]
- Use the square button at the bottom of a pattern to enable or disable it. Disabled patterns are never crafted.[14]
- Click the cog button to open the Pattern Configuration screen. There you set how much of each ingredient to keep inside the ME system at all times, and a maximum amount of the end product so you don't over-craft expensive items.[12][14]
- Type the number and press enter to apply it. The field accepts mathematical expressions, and an indicator on the right shows whether it was applied. An output limit of 0 removes the limit, so crafting continues until the inputs run out.[12][14]
By default, products are pushed from the output slots into the ME system. Left-click the cell button on the left toolbar to push them into adjacent inventories instead. A second button then appears that lets you choose which sides count for auto-export.[12][14]
Upgrade cards unlock its full speed. One kind reaches 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and another allows redstone control.[14]
The Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber speeds up chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power. Several of the mod's key materials come from its recipes, for example Shattered Singularity, Quantum Alloy and Quantum Alloy Plate. Those recipes use the mod's own reaction recipe type and the Quantum Infusion fluid. The Quantum Alloy recipe needs 1,000 of it.[11][12][13]
Reaction (advanced_ae)
Singularity

100× Lava
- 2× any ender pearl dust
Recipe id: advanced_ae:shatteredsingularity
Power is the main thing to manage. Acceleration Cards raise the power needed per tick. When the chamber draws from the ME system, it tries to pull one tick of processing at a time. If that fails, you may see flickering as the power toggles on and off. Energy buffers on the network fix this, and you can also use fewer acceleration cards.[13]
- Full block pattern provider: connects the chamber straight to the AE2 grid so power is extracted when needed. If the grid holds less than the required power per tick, progress slows and a warning appears on screen.[13]
- External power: any source that can push energy is enough to fill its buffers. A warning shows in the chamber's screen if the power arrives too slowly.[13]
- Induction Cards (needs Applied Flux): go in cable-part or directional pattern providers and export power stored in energy cells. They have a ramp-up timer, so speed starts slow and builds as crafting continues.[13]
The chamber can also pull energy from Applied Flux energy cells sitting in the drives, which lets it recharge itself and craft without using ME power buffers.[13]
Buses and monitors
The ME Import Export Bus combines an import bus and an export bus in one part. The filter sets which stacks are exported, and anything not on the filter is a valid stack to import.[8][11]
Crafting Shaped

| Empty slot | Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: advanced_ae:import_export_bus
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of the filtered stacks. It tracks how much is already in the target inventory and won't insert past that number. Drag the item into the filter slot, then middle-click to set the amount. It does not regulate the other way, so it won't pull out extras if the count goes over. The project page adds that it accepts a crafting card so it can craft the items it needs.[1][12][15]
The ME Throughput Monitor shows the amount per second for one tracked item or fluid and needs no channel. Right-click with an item, or double-right-click with a fluid container, to set it. Right-click with an empty hand to clear it, and shift-right-click with an empty hand to lock it. The Throughput Monitor Configurator cycles the readout between items per tick, per second and per minute. Readings can take a while to settle after you change modes, so ignore the first numbers you see.[12][16]
Quantum armor and upgrade cards
The quantum armor pieces link to your ME system individually, by inserting them into the appropriate slots of the linking device. Several perks only work while you are linked and within range of the access point. To install upgrades, wear the pieces and press the configuration hotkey, N by default, to open the Quantum Armor Configuration Menu. There you can add or remove cards, toggle them and adjust their settings.[7][12]
Quantum Upgrade Base Card does nothing on its own, but it is a crafting ingredient for every upgrade card. Two examples of how cards interact with the system:[7]
- Auto Feeding Card: drag your chosen foods into its filter slots, and if the gear is linked it looks for them in the system to feed you when hungry.[7]
- Flight Card: enables creative flight with a configurable speed slider. The Flight Drift Card adds a slider for inertia, and at 0 you stop instantly.[7]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
4 parts
The sources show no formal tier list for AdvancedAE in this pack, and its quest book touches it in one place, so this page follows a practical order: better pattern providers, a few extra buses and monitors, the Quantum Computer, and finally the Quantum armor with its upgrade cards. Every recipe block below is the exact in-pack one.[2][10][11]
Advanced pattern providers
This is the easiest way in. The Advanced Pattern Provider lets you choose which face of a machine each ingredient in a pattern gets pushed into, so you can automate picky machines with one block and no pipes. To teach it where items go, you encode patterns with the Advanced Pattern Encoder, and the pack changed that encoder's recipe.[4][5][11]

After that, pick cards to match how you play:[7]
- Movement: Walk Speed Card, Sprint Speed Card, Swim Speed Card, Jump Height Card and Step Assist Card.[7]
- Flight: the Flight Card enables creative flight. The Flight Drift Card only works with it and sets how much inertia you keep. At 0 you stop instantly.[7]
- System-linked: the Auto Feeding Card and Auto Stock Card pull items from your grid, and both need the armor linked and in range. The ME Recharging Card recharges wirelessly, and in the chestplate it also charges your inventory.[7]
- Utility: the Portable Workbench Card adds a portable cell workbench, opened with a hotkey.[7]
- The Magnet Card has a pack-changed recipe.[11]
How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so nearly everything it adds plugs into your ME system. In this pack its recipes also reach into ExtendedAE and a handful of vanilla items. Here's where those connections show up.[1][11]
AE2 is the foundation
- ME Import Export Bus combines AE2's ME Export Bus and ME Import Bus, and ME Stock Export Bus builds on the ME Export Bus.[8][11]
- Reaction Chamber is built around AE2's Matter Condenser and Vibration Chamber. The machine then makes Quantum Alloy and Shattered Singularity, and both recipes start from an AE2 Singularity.[11]

Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade is also a crystal assembler recipe that the pack changed, and it uses a Concurrent Processor.[11]
You can use Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade on both regular Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Providers. The provider keeps its slot count, so you don't lose the materials from upgrading it to an extended provider. The capacity upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[9]
Quantum armor and vanilla items
The Quantum Armor pieces are each crafted from the matching vanilla netherite piece, for example Netherite Helmet for Quantum Helmet. The armor connects to your AE2 system, and its extra functions only work while you are in range of the connected access point. The quest a quest in "?" in the basic_armor chapter asks you to obtain all four pieces.[7][10][11]
Many upgrade cards need AE2 and vanilla items, such as Acceleration Card for the speed cards. The Lava Immunity Card uses a Lava Bucket and a Totem Of Undying, and the Water Breathing Card uses a Heart Of The Sea and a Pufferfish.[11]

Other mods the mod's docs mention
The mod's own docs name Mekanism as an example of a machine that needs specific input sides, which Advanced Pattern Providers can handle without pipes. They also say the Quantum Crafter can handle crafts with a non-consumed ingredient, like Mystical Agriculture's essence upgrading. These are descriptions of the mod, not pack recipes or quests.[1][5]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use AdvancedAE?
AdvancedAE shows up in just one quest chapter in this pack: "basic_armor". Only a single quest there involves the mod, so this section is a short one.[10]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the quest book. Its tasks ask for the Quantum armor pieces, listed here in the order the quest gives them:[10]
Since this is the only AdvancedAE quest in the sources, there is no order between chapters to follow.[10]
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
There isn't much version history to cover for AdvancedAE in this pack. All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 ships AdvancedAE 1.2.5-1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[3]
The one change listed in the mod's own changelog for the 1.2.5-1.21.1 build is that it was updated to the latest AE2.[17]
Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for AdvancedAE, so any changes to the mod between pack releases, or to its recipes and values in the pack, are unverified.
