What is Create Crafts & Additions?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Create Crafts & Additions is an add-on for Create that links Create's kinetic energy with electricity. If you like building Create contraptions but also want a way to move power around as Forge Energy, this is the mod for you. This pack includes version 1.7.0.[1][2]

What it adds

The two core machines are the Electric Motor and the Alternator. The Electric Motor turns Forge Energy into kinetic energy. The Alternator does the reverse and turns kinetic energy into Forge Energy. To craft them you first build a Rolling Mill, a kinetic machine that makes rods and wires.[1]

  • Energy transport: Connector and Wires, a Redstone Relay that controls energy flow with redstone, and a multiblock Accumulator for energy storage.[1]
  • Portable Energy Interface: transfers energy to and from contraptions.[1]
  • Tesla Coil: charges electric items, and can also damage players and mobs.[1]
  • Creative Generator: a limitless supply of Forge Energy.[1]
  • Extras: Biomass and Biomass Pellets for fuel, Straw that lets a Blaze Burner burn liquid fuels, Diamond Grit Sandpaper, Barbed Wire and a Chocolate and Honey Cake.[1]
  • ComputerCraft support: the Electric Motor provides a peripheral, and the Digital Adapter lets computers talk to various Create blocks.[1]

Who it is for

It suits players who already use Create and want to connect it to the pack's energy-based machines, or who want electric power inside their Create builds. The mod's own FAQ says to check JEI for any recipe, so look there when you need one.[1]

Tip: Start with the Rolling Mill. The Electric Motor and Alternator both depend on it, because it makes the rods and wires you need to craft them.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, it is not on the ATM Star path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Treat it as an optional extra that you pick up when it suits your build. The project page describes the Alternator as running at 75% efficiency, but I could not confirm whether this pack changes that.

How do you get started with Create Crafts & Additions?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

This mod extends Create and acts as a bridge between electricity and kinetic energy. The Electric Motor generates kinetic energy from Forge Energy, and the Alternator does the opposite at 75% efficiency. Here is the order I would build things in.[1]

Build the Rolling Mill

Start with the Rolling Mill. It is a kinetic machine that makes the wires and rods the rest of the mod runs on.[1]

Later on you can automate the Rolling Mill with a belt and two funnels.[3]

Roll your first wires

The mill turns plates into wires. Copper wire comes first, because the copper spool you need next is built from it. Iron, gold and electrum plates have their own rolling recipes too, giving Iron Wire, Gold Wire and Electrum Wire. The copper recipe is shown below.[4]

Make spools

Wire goes onto an Empty Spool, and the two recipes below show the empty spool and the Copper Spool. The copper spool is used in the recipes for the Alternator, the Electric Motor, the Tesla Coil and the Portable Energy Interface.[4]

To move energy around, craft a Small Connector. Hold a copper, gold or electrum spool to create a wire link with up to 4 other connectors. You can also cycle each connector between Push, Pull and None modes.[3][4]

The Large Connector is for high current wires. You make its wire links while holding a gold or electrum spool, and it links up to 6 other connectors.[3][4]

Motor and alternator

Now you can build both machines. In this pack they are crafted with Create's mechanical crafting rather than in a normal crafting table.[4]

Tip: The Alternator needs at least 32 RPM to operate, and its energy production depends on the input RPM. The Electric Motor needs a source of energy. Scroll on its back panel to set the RPM, and its energy consumption follows that setting.[3]

Electrum wire in this pack

The pack changed how you get electrum wire: a charging recipe turns gold wire into it. Keep that in mind when you plan high current lines, since electrum is one of the two spool types the large connector accepts.[3][4]

Watch out: The Accumulator's tooltip says it is deprecated and subject to removal from future releases, so don't build your whole setup around it.[3]

How does Create Crafts & Additions work?

8 parts

Create Crafts & Additions is a bridge between electricity (Forge Energy) and the rotational force you already use in Create. Everything below is about how that bridge works: converting between the two, moving power around, storing it, and a few side systems that hang off it.[1]

Turning power into rotation and back

The Electric Motor is a compact, configurable source of rotational force. It needs an energy source, and you scroll on its back panel to set the RPM of its output. The higher the RPM you set, the more energy it uses.[1][5]

The Alternator does the opposite and turns rotation into Forge Energy at 75% efficiency. It needs at least 32 RPM to operate, and the energy it produces depends on the input RPM.[1][5]

Wires and connectors

Energy travels through wires between connectors, and any Forge Energy compatible block can be linked up this way. There are two tiers, and each one only takes its own kind of wire.[5]

  • Small Connector (Small Connector): uses low current wires. Hold a Copper, Gold or Electrum Spool and right-click to link it with up to 4 other connectors.[5]
  • Large Connector: uses high current wires. Hold a Gold or Electrum Spool and right-click to link it with up to 6 other connectors.[5]
  • Right-click either connector with a Wrench to cycle between Push, Pull and None modes.[5]

The Redstone Relay is a low current block that only lets energy pass from its input connector to its output connector while it receives a redstone signal. It gives you a simple on/off switch for a power line.[5]

Storing energy with the Accumulator

The Accumulator is a multi-block structure that can store large amounts of electric energy. You configure one connector as the input and another as the output. To stay compatible with other mods, it actively pushes energy into blocks placed on its top and bottom faces.[5]

Charging moving contraptions

Accumulators on a moving contraption can't connect to stationary connectors. The Portable Energy Interface solves this, so you don't have to stop the contraption.[5]

  1. Put one interface on the contraption and place a second one beside its path, with a gap of 1 or 2 blocks between them.[5]
  2. When they pass each other, they engage. While engaged, the stationary interface represents all the Accumulators on the contraption.[5]
  3. Energy is exchanged according to the Push/Pull setting of the connector.[5]
  4. After no energy has been exchanged for a while, the contraption continues on its way.[5]
Tip: Redstone power on the stationary interface stops it from engaging, so you can use a signal to keep a contraption moving past it.[5]

The Rolling Mill

The Rolling Mill is a kinetic machine that rolls metals into rods and wires, and it's the gateway to most of the mod's crafting parts. To feed it by hand, drop ingots or plates on top, then right-click it to take the output. To automate it, use a belt and two funnels.[1][5]

Computer control

If you use ComputerCraft, the Electric Motor works as a peripheral. Connect to it with peripheral.wrap(side), and run the /cca_api command in chat to read the API documentation. The Digital Adapter is a separate peripheral that lets computers interface with Display Boards, Speedometers, Stressometers, pulleys, Mechanical Pistons, Mechanical Bearings and Rotational Speed Controllers.[1][5]

How do you progress through Create Crafts & Additions?

5 parts

Create Crafts & Additions has no tiers of its own that you unlock. This page orders it by what each recipe in the pack asks you to have built first, starting with the Rolling Mill and wires and ending with the motors and the Tesla Coil.[6]

Tier 1: Rolling Mill and wire

Everything starts with the Rolling Mill. It is crafted from basic Create andesite parts and an iron plate, so you can build it early.[6]

The Rolling Mill is the entry point for all the wire in this mod.

The Rolling Mill turns one plate into 2 wires. That works for iron, copper, gold and electrum plates, giving Iron Wire, Copper Wire, Gold Wire and Electrum Wire.[6]

How does Create Crafts & Additions work with other mods?

3 parts

Create Crafts & Additions is built to sit on top of Create, and that shows in its recipes. Many of the mod's machines and components are crafted from Create parts, and some of its foods and fuels are made in Create machines. The pack also adds its own stamper recipes that connect the mod's wires to an Immersive Engineering mold.[1][6]

Create is the backbone

The mod describes itself as a bridge between electricity and Create's kinetic energy. The recipes below show how the Rolling Mill, Alternator, Electric Motor, Tesla Coil, Accumulator, Portable Energy Interface, Servo Motor and Redstone Relay tie into Create parts.[1][6]

The Alternator, Electric Motor and Tesla Coil are made with Create's mechanical crafting, so you'll need that setup for them. The Rolling Mill is the machine the mod uses to make wires and rods, so it's a good first stop.[1][6]

The pack adds stamper recipes that make the mod's wires from ingots, using the Metal Press Mold: Wire from Immersive Engineering. They give you a second route to wires besides the Rolling Mill. They cover Copper Wire, Electrum Wire, Gold Wire and Iron Wire. The ingot slot accepts any item with the matching ingot tag, so it isn't limited to one mod's ingots.[1][6]
