Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.7.4. Adds utility items to Cobblemon for a better experience (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

2 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) adds utility items to Cobblemon for a better experience. This pack ships version 1.7.4 of it, and most of what it adds is about tweaking the Pokemon you already own.[1][2]

What it adds

The bottlecap items are the IV tools. The Golden Cap boosts all IVs to max, Silver Caps boost one particular IV to max, the Wooden Cap randomizes IVs, the Void Cap sets IVs to 0, and Obsidian Caps lower one particular IV by 1.[1]

The extras cover a lot of ground. The Void Feather sets EVs to 0, the Poke Treat raises Friendship and the Stale Poke Treat lowers it, and the Shiny Card switches a Cobblemon's shiny status. Level and evolution tools include the Common Candy (level down by 1), the Master Candy (level 100), and the Devolution Relic (devolves a Cobblemon). Cobblemax maxes level, IVs and Friendship, while Cobblemin minimizes them. The Rider's Relic boosts riding stats by 100.[1]

Two of these items get their own quests in the pack. Transmutation Orb switches a Cobblemon's gender if applicable. Ball Synchronizer changes the Poke ball to the one in the Cobblemon's item slot.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Both quests live in the chapter "Tips and Poke Tricks", chapter 4 of 70 in the book, which has 24 quests. They are "Transmutation Orb" quest and "Ball Synchronizer" quest.[3]

In the quest, you right click a Pokemon with the orb to switch its gender, which is handy when you can't find the right gender to breed. For the synchronizer, you let a Pokemon hold the ball you want, then use the item on it. The ball it was in gets voided, so the quest says it's mostly useful with balls that give benefits after a catch.[3]

Neither quest lists a quest it comes after. Both are among the quests that the checkmark quest a quest in "Tips and Poke Tricks" ("Complete all tricks!") comes after. The others are "Balls that help Pokemon" quest, "Balls with a greater Catch rate" quest, "Trainer Repel Rod" quest, "Balls that are thrown differently" quest and one untitled quest. So they sit in the "tricks" part of the chapter, next to the Poke Ball tips and the Trainer Repel Rod. The chapter's other checkmark quest, a quest in "Tips and Poke Tricks" ("Complete all the tips!"), covers the general mod tips.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star quest path uses this mod is not shown by the quest sources here. The quest book also has an "Evolution" chapter with 33 quests, and its text is not included in these sources, so check it in the quest book itself.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

6 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) adds small utility items for tweaking your Pokemon: their gender, ball, IVs, EVs, level and friendship. Here is the order I'd make them in, and why.[1][4]

First: Transmutation Orb

Can't find a female for breeding? Right click a Pokemon with the Transmutation Orb and its gender switches. The pack's quest book covers it in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter, the fourth chapter in the book. The Evolution chapter has a "Finding Moon Stones" quest ("Finding Moon Stones" quest) that tells you where to look for the stone this recipe uses.[3][4][5][6]

Next: Ball Synchronizer

Let a Pokemon hold the ball you want, then right click it with the Ball Synchronizer to swap its ball. The old ball is voided. The quest ("Ball Synchronizer" quest) says it is mostly worth it for balls that help after the catch. The Friend Ball starts a Pokemon at 150 Friend Points, the Luxury Ball makes friendship grow twice as fast, and the Heal Ball heals it once.[3][4]

Devolution Relic

The Devolution Relic forces a Pokemon to devolve. In the quest book it sits in the Evolution chapter (a quest in "Evolution"), right after the "Evolve your Pokemon" quest, so you meet it once you're evolving your team.[4][5]

Tip: The Devolution Relic does not work on a first-stage Pokemon, so you can't devolve below the base form.[5]

IV caps: be careful

The mod also has Obsidian and Void caps for each stat, and the pack has a recipe for every one, for example HP Obsidian Cap and HP Void Cap. Each craft makes 2 caps. They lower IVs, so save them for when you really mean it.[4][6]

Watch out: A Void Cap sets both the hypertrained and base IV of its stat to 0. An Obsidian Cap lowers the base and hypertrained IVs of its stat by 1.[4]

How does Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) work?

4 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids in what the sources show. It is a set of items that each change one thing about a Cobblemon, such as its IVs, EVs, level, friendship, gender or Poké Ball. So the core mechanics here are what each item does and which crafting recipes this pack keeps.[1][4]

IV caps

The caps work on IVs, and their descriptions separate Base IVs from Hypertrained IVs. Void and Obsidian caps come in a version for every stat: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed.[4]

  • Wooden Cap randomizes a Cobblemon's Hypertrained IVs.[4]
  • Void caps, such as Atk Void Cap, set that stat's Hypertrained and Base IV to 0.[4]
  • Obsidian caps, such as HP Obsidian Cap, decrease that stat's Base and Hypertrained IVs by 1.[4]

Watch out: This pack removes the crafting recipes for the Golden Cap and for the Shining Silver Caps. It also removes the recipes for the Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed, Def and HP Silver Caps. Silver Caps set a Hypertrained IV to 31 and the Shining versions set a Base IV to 31. The items exist in the mod, but the sources here do not show another way to get them.[4][7]

The Shiny Card, which switches a Cobblemon's shiny status, also has its recipe removed in this pack. The sources here do not show another way to get it.[4][7]

How do you progress through Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

5 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) does not get its own chapter in the pack's quest book. Its items show up in two places: the Tips and Poke Tricks chapter (chapter 4 of 70) and the Evolution chapter (chapter 11 of 70, in the Cobblemon group). The rest of the progression comes from the pack's recipes, so this page follows both.[3][5]

Caps: Wooden, Obsidian and Void

The recipe dump shows Wooden, Obsidian and Void caps in this pack. First comes the single Wooden Cap. Then there are Obsidian caps, one for each stat (HP, Atk, Def, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed). Last are the matching Void caps, again one per stat. Each Obsidian or Void cap craft gives you 2 caps.[6]

What the pack removed

The pack's KubeJS script deletes a number of this mod's recipes, so do not expect them in your recipe viewer. The removed recipes include the Shiny Card, the Golden Cap, Master Candy and Cobblemax. The Atk Bottle Cap is also gone, along with the silver caps for Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed, Def and HP, and the shining caps (Atk, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed, Def and HP). The recipe for Poké Treat is removed as well.[6][7]

Quest-guided items

The Tips and Poke Tricks chapter is where the pack introduces two of this mod's items. Both quests feed into the "Complete all tricks!" checkmark quest at the end of the chapter.[3]

The Transmutation Orb has its own quest, "Transmutation Orb" quest. Right click a Pokemon with the orb and it switches gender, which helps when you cannot find the right partner for breeding.[3]

The old Ball is voided, so it is mainly worth it with Balls that give a benefit after catching. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own version.[3][6]

Devolution Relic and the evolution path

The Devolution Relic sits at the end of a chain in the Evolution chapter. It is the quest right after you learn to evolve your Pokemon, and it undoes an evolution when a Pokemon holds it. It does not work on first-stage Pokemon. The quest chain leading up to it runs like this:[5]

  1. "Level Caps" quest: your Tier 1 Pokemon reaches Level 15 but cannot evolve yet, because Radical Cobblemon Trainers requires you to beat a certain trainer to unlock your Level Cap.[5]
  2. "Series" quest: Trainer Associates are villagers who hand out a Series, and beating a Series trainer with a higher Level Cap raises your cap.[5]
  3. a quest in "Evolution": a spawner that summons a chosen Series trainer when it gets a Redstone signal.[5]
  4. "Beat that Trainer!" quest: go and beat that trainer.[5]
  5. "Evolve your Pokemon" quest: once the Pokemon is ready, open your Team with (M), view the Pokemon and click the Evolve button below its picture.[5]
  6. a quest in "Evolution": the Devolution Relic.[5]

A few more items from the mod have no quest in these chapters, so you meet them through their recipes: Common Candy, Stale Poké Treat, Cobblemin, Void Feather and Rider's Relic. How does Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) work with other mods?

3 parts

The way Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) connects to the rest of the pack is mostly through crafting. Its items are built from Cobblemon ingredients and a few vanilla ones. Nothing else in the sources links it to the other mods in the pack.[6]

Cobblemon ingredients in Utility+ recipes

The stat caps are the clearest link. There is an Obsidian Cap and a Void Cap for each stat (HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed), and every one of these recipes is built around the matching Cobblemon mint leaf plus vanilla obsidian. The Void Cap recipes also need a vanilla lava bucket. Each craft gives you 2 caps.[6]

On the mod's own page, Obsidian Caps lower one particular IV by 1, and Void Caps set IVs to 0. So both are tools for taking IVs down, not for boosting them.[1]

Cobblemin also reaches into Cobblemon, since its recipe uses the Poké Ball. The mod page describes the Cobblemin as minimizing a Cobblemon's level, IVs and Friendship. Two other Utility+ items work in the same spirit: Common Candy decreases level by 1 and Stale Poké Treat decreases Friendship. The recipe below shows exactly how the Cobblemin is crafted.[1][6]

What the pack removed

This pack changes the mod's recipe list with a script. It removes the recipes for the Shiny Card, Golden Cap, Master Candy, Cobblemax, Poké Treat, the Silver Caps, the Atk Bottle Cap and the Shining caps. The cap recipes above are the ones the pack keeps.[7]

In the quest book

Two Utility+ items have their own quests in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter, which is chapter 4 of 70 in the book. They sit next to quests for other mods in that chapter, such as Ranged Pumps, Simple Magnets and Iron Jetpacks.[3]

The Ball Synchronizer quest says it is most useful with balls that give benefits after a catch. The same chapter has a separate quest, "Balls that help Pokemon" quest, about the Friend, Luxury and Heal Balls, which are exactly those kinds of balls.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

2 parts

The quest book covers Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) with three quests, spread over two chapters. Two are in "Tips and Poke Tricks" (chapter 4 of 70 in the book) and one is in "Evolution" (chapter 11 of 70, in the Cobblemon group).[3][5]

Tips and Poke Tricks

This chapter has 24 quests. Two of them are for this mod, and neither lists a prerequisite quest.[3]

  • "Transmutation Orb" quest asks you to have a Transmutation Orb. Right click a Pokemon with it and the Pokemon switches gender. The quest pitches it as a fix for when you can't find the right gender to breed.[3]
  • "Ball Synchronizer" quest asks you to have a Ball Synchronizer. Let a Pokemon hold the ball you want, then use the synchronizer on it to switch its ball. The ball it was in is voided. The quest says this mostly pays off with balls that give a benefit after catching.[3]

That last point connects to "Balls that help Pokemon" quest in the same chapter. It covers the Friend, Luxury and Heal Balls, which help a Pokemon after it is caught.[3]

Both of the mod's quests are listed as prerequisites of the checkmark quest a quest in "Tips and Poke Tricks" ("Complete all tricks!"). It also requires the ball quests, "Trainer Repel Rod" quest, and one untitled quest.[3]

Evolution

The Devolution Relic quest sits at the end of the Evolution chapter's trainer and level cap line. Here is the order you reach it in:[5]

  1. "Level Caps" quest: the Radical Trainers level cap, which you unlock by beating a certain trainer.[5]
  2. "Series" quest: Trainer Associates, Trainer Cards and your Series.[5]
  3. a quest in "Evolution": crafting a Trainer Spawner to summon a specific Series trainer.[5]
  4. "Beat that Trainer!" quest: an advancement task for beating that trainer.[5]
  5. "Evolve your Pokemon" quest: evolving your Pokemon from the Team screen.[5]
  6. a quest in "Evolution": the Devolution Relic, which comes right after the evolve quest.[5]

The Devolution Relic is for when you want to undo an evolution: give it to your Pokemon. The quest notes it doesn't work on a first-stage Pokemon.[5]

What changed in Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) version 1.7.4, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the changes from the mod's own changelogs for its most recent versions, newest first.[2]

1.7.4 (the version in this pack)

  • Obsidian caps were reworked. They now reduce base and hypertrained IVs by 1.[8]
  • A void cap was added for each stat. It reduces base and hypertrained IVs to 0.[8]
  • Rider's Relic was added. It boosts all riding stats by 100.[8]
  • The update brought new textures and reworked some recipes.[8]

1.7.3

  • Shining silver caps were added. They adjust base IVs rather than hypertrained IVs.[9]
  • Issues with the wooden bottle cap were fixed.[9]

1.7.2

This was a small fix: the Wooden Bottlecap recipe was repaired.[10]

Unverified The sources here do not show any All the Mons pack changelog entries for this mod, so whether the pack itself changed anything about Cobblemon Utility+ between its releases is unverified. The pack's own changelogs are where that would be listed.
