What is Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets adds magnets that pull dropped items and experience toward you, so you stop chasing drops across the floor. The pack ships version 1.1.12+c of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[1][2]
It's for anyone who has had blocks fall just out of reach while mining or breaking things. The pack's own quest describes it that way, and it also warns that you might want to switch the magnet off near mob farms.[3]
What you get
- Basicmagnet: picks up items and experience within a 5 block range of you.[1][3]
- Advanced Magnet: the range is configurable, up to 11 blocks. Item and experience range can be set separately, and you can filter items with a whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Demagnetization Coil: stops items from being attracted by magnets, with an adjustable area of up to 3 blocks.[1]
- Advanced Demagnetization Coil: does the same job with an area of up to 5 blocks, and it supports item filtering.[1]
Using a magnet
Hold the magnet in your hotbar and right-click to turn it on or off. You can also equip it in a Curios slot so it keeps working, and the mod supports a key bind for toggling it.[1][3]
To open the Advanced Magnet's GUI, select it in your hotbar and shift-right-click. For a Demagnetization Coil, right-click the placed coil with an empty hand.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack introduces the magnet through the quest "Simple Magnets" quest in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter. Its task is to obtain the Basicmagnet, and the quest text mentions that the magnet can be upgraded to increase its range.[3]
Unverified The sources don't show the in-pack crafting recipes for the magnets and coils, or whether the pack changes any of the mod's default values. The ranges above match what the mod page and the quest text state.
How do you get started with Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets is a small mod with one big payoff: items and XP fly to you instead of landing out of reach. Here is the order I'd make things in this pack, and why.[1]
Craft the Basic Magnet first
Start with the Basicmagnet. It's the item the quest "Simple Magnets" quest asks you to get. When it's switched on, dropped items and blocks within a 5 block radius come to you, and it picks up experience too. That saves you chasing drops every time you break something.[1][3][4]

- Select the magnet in your hotbar.[1]
- Right-click to turn it on. Right-click again to turn it off.[1][3]
You can also equip the magnet in a Curios slot so it keeps working without taking up your hand. The quest suggests turning it off near mob farms, where you don't want it grabbing everything.[3]
Upgrade to the Advanced Magnet
Once you have the basics, make the Advancedmagnet. Its recipe uses the Basic Magnet as one of the inputs, so you build on the first one. The Advanced Magnet has a configurable range, up to 11 blocks, and it can filter items.[1][5]

- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click a filter slot with the item you want to filter.[1]
- Switch the filter between whitelist and blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether it should match NBT data or not.[1]
Demagnetization Coils, when you need them
Sometimes you don't want a magnet to grab everything. The Basic Demagnetization Coil prevents items near it from being attracted by magnets, and its area can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away.[1][4]

How does Simple Magnets work?
5 parts
Simple Magnets comes down to two ideas: magnets that pull items and experience towards you, and demagnetization coils that stop items from being pulled in an area.[1]
Magnets
The Basicmagnet picks up items and experience around you once it is activated. Its range is 5 blocks.[1][4][5]
The Advancedmagnet does the same job with a configurable range, up to a maximum of 11 blocks. You can set the range for items and for experience separately, and you can filter items with a whitelist or a blacklist.[1][4][5]

The advanced magnet recipe uses a basic magnet as one of its inputs.
Using a magnet
- Select the magnet in your hotbar and right-click to turn it on or off.[1]
- With the advanced magnet selected, shift-right-click to open its GUI.[1]
Magnets also work in Baubles or Curios slots, and you can toggle them with a key bind, so you don't have to keep one in your hand.[1]
Filtering items
- Open the advanced magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click one of the filter slots with the item you want.[1]
- Set the filter to whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter matches NBT data or not.[1]
Demagnetization coils
The Basic Demagnetization Coil prevents items nearby from being attracted by magnets. Its effective area can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away.[1][4][5]
The Advanced Demagnetization Coil works the same way, but its area goes up to 5 blocks and it can filter items.[1][4][5]

In this pack
All the recipes above are the mod's own recipes. The pack does use the basic magnet elsewhere: its script rebuilds the recipe for Mekanism's Module Magnetic Attraction Unit so that it takes a Basicmagnet.[5][6]
Unverified The ranges above come from the mod's own description. The sources here show no config file for this mod in the pack, so whether the pack changes any of those ranges is not shown. Check the in-game GUI if a range looks different.
How do you progress through Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets has a short progression in this pack. The quest "Simple Magnets" quest in the Tips and Poke Tricks chapter introduces the first magnet, and the other items in the mod all have in-pack crafting recipes.[3][5]
Tier 1: Basic Magnet
The quest task is to get the Basicmagnet. Right-click while holding it to turn it on, and every dropped item and block within a 5 block radius comes to you. Right-click again to switch it off, which is handy near mob farms.[3]
You can also equip the magnet in your Curios slot so it keeps working without being held in your hand.[3]

Tier 2: Advanced Magnet
The quest text says the magnet can be upgraded to increase its range. The Advancedmagnet has its own crafting recipe in the pack, shown below.[3][5]

Demagnetization coils
The pack also has the Basic Demagnetization Coil and the Advanced Demagnetization Coil, each with its own crafting recipe.[5]

How does Simple Magnets work with other mods?
The one place Simple Magnets connects with another mod in this pack is Mekanism. The pack adds a custom shaped recipe that uses the Basicmagnet to craft the Module Magnetic Attraction Unit, a Mekanism module.[5]
Shaped (kubejs)
| any redstone storage block | any allthemodium storage block | any redstone storage block |
Recipe id: kubejs:kjs/mekanism_module_magnetic_attraction_unit
This recipe is added by the pack, so you won't find it in the mods on their own.
The recipe also needs Mekanism parts, and the block above shows the exact layout and ingredients.[5]
If you want to follow the magnet itself through the questbook, the quest "Simple Magnets" quest in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter covers it. It explains that you right-click the magnet to switch it on, and that it pulls in dropped items and blocks within 5 blocks. You can also equip it in your Curios slots, and right-click again to turn it off, which is handy near mob farms.[3]
Which All the Mons quests use Simple Magnets?
1 part
Simple Magnets shows up in just one quest in this pack. It sits in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter, and it's a quick one, so you can grab it whenever it suits you.[3]
Tips and Poke Tricks: Simple Magnets
The quest "Simple Magnets" quest has a single task: obtain the Basicmagnet. The chapter text only gives this one quest for the mod, so there's no longer questline or order to follow.[3]
The quest text explains how the magnet works. Right-click while holding it to turn it on, and dropped items and blocks within a 5 block radius will fly to you. That's handy when you're breaking something and the drops would land out of reach.[3]
- Right-click with the magnet in hand to switch it on, and right-click again to switch it off. The quest suggests turning it off near mob farms.[3]
- You can equip the magnet in your Curios slot and keep using it without holding it.[3]
- The quest says the magnet can be upgraded to increase its range, but it doesn't give the upgrade steps or the new range values.[3]
Unverified The quest doesn't say how the Basic Magnet is crafted, what its upgrades are, or what any quest reward is, so those details aren't covered here.
Which Simple Magnets config options matter?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide
The pack's Simple Magnets config values aren't something I can show you here, so this section sticks to what the mod's project page says about ranges and filters. Treat these as the mod's own figures, not confirmed pack settings.[1]
The Basic Magnet picks up items and experience within 5 blocks. The Advanced Magnet has a configurable range of up to 11 blocks, and you can set the item range and the experience range separately.[1]
The Demagnetization Coil can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away, and the Advanced Demagnetization Coil up to 5 blocks. The Advanced Demagnetization Coil can filter items. The Advanced Magnet can filter with a whitelist or blacklist, and you can choose whether it matches NBT data or not.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack changes any Simple Magnets values from the mod defaults, such as maximum ranges or other limits, could not be confirmed. No config files for this mod were available, so check the in-game GUI to see what you actually get.
What changed in Simple Magnets between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Simple Magnets 1.1.12+c, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelog, newest first.[2][7]
Mod changelog
- 1.1.12c (the version in this pack): fixed the integration with Curios.[2][7]
- 1.1.12b: fixed a crash when changing advanced magnet options.[7]
- 1.1.12a: fixed the advanced magnet data component not being comparable.[7]
- 1.1.12: fixed demagnetization coil option changes not always getting saved.[7]
- 1.1.11b: fixed magnets not going in Curios slots.[7]
- 1.1.11a: fixed a crash on startup.[7]
- 1.1.11: the initial release of Simple Magnets for Minecraft 1.21.[7]
Every release in this list is a bug fix, apart from the initial 1.1.11 release. If you use Curios with your magnets, the 1.1.11b and 1.1.12c fixes are the ones that matter most, and you already have both in 1.3.0.[2][7]
