What is Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

2 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) adds utility items to Cobblemon to make the experience smoother: items that change IVs, EVs, levels, friendship, gender, shiny status and Poke Ball type on a Pokemon you already own. This pack ships version 1.7.2.[1][2]

What it adds

  • IV boosters (bottlecaps): the Golden Cap sets all IVs to max, Silver Caps max one particular IV, the Wooden Cap randomizes IVs, the Void Cap sets IVs to 0, and Obsidian Caps decrease one particular IV by 1.[1]
  • The Void Feather sets EVs to 0.[1]
  • Friendship and level items: the Poke Treat increases friendship, the Stale Poke Treat decreases it, the Common Candy lowers level by 1 and the Master Candy sets level to 100.[1]
  • Bigger switches: the Devolution Relic devolves a Cobblemon, Cobblemax maxes level, IVs and friendship, Cobblemin minimizes them, and the Rider's Relic boosts riding stats by 100.[1]
  • Shiny Card switches a Cobblemon's shiny status, Transmutation Orb switches its gender if applicable, and Ball Synchronizer changes its Poke Ball to the one in its item slot.[1]
Watch out: The mod's project page says not to use it together with Brendon's Bottlecaps.[1]

Where the quest book puts it

This mod lives in the chapter "Tips and Poke Tricks", which has 26 quests. Three of them are for this mod: "Transmutation Orb" quest, "Shiny Card" quest and "Ball Synchronizer" quest.[3]

They sit in the Poke tricks group, next to the quests about Poke Ball types and the Trainer Repel Rod. All of them are listed as requirements for a quest in "Tips and Poke Tricks" ("Complete all tricks!"), which closes that group. The general tips (Infinite Water, Simple Magnets, Iron Jetpacks and so on) feed a separate "Complete all the tips!" quest instead.[3]

  • The Transmutation Orb quest says to right click a Pokemon with the orb to switch its gender, handy when you cannot find the right Pokemon for breeding.[3]
  • The Shiny Card quest says you click a Pokemon with the card to make a normal Pokemon shiny or a shiny one normal, and that the card is used up. It also calls the card quite expensive.[3]
  • The Ball Synchronizer quest says to let a Pokemon hold the ball you want, then use the synchronizer on it. The ball it was in is voided.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses this mod is not shown by the sources here. The quest book is where that path is laid out.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

7 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) adds utility items to Cobblemon, mostly bottle caps that change a Pokemon's IVs, plus a handful of items for gender, shiny status, Poke Ball, friendship, level and EVs. Here is a sensible order to make them in. The order is my suggestion, but every recipe below is the one this pack actually uses.[1][4]

Watch out: The pack changed some recipes: the Silver Caps, the Ball Synchronizer and the Devolution Relic. If you have seen other guides or the mod's own page, don't trust their recipes for those items. Use the recipe blocks here.[5]

Step one: Wooden Cap

Start with the Wooden Cap. It randomizes a Pokemon's IVs, so it is a quick way to see what the mod does. Its recipe is the mod's own, and the pack has not changed it.[4][5]

Step two: Silver Caps

Next come the Silver Caps. Each one sets a single IV to 31, for example the Atk Silver Cap sets Attack. There is one Silver Cap for each stat: HP Silver Cap, Def Silver Cap, Sp. Atk Silver Cap, Sp. Def Silver Cap and Speed Silver Cap as well. The pack changed these recipes, so use the blocks below.[4][5]

Step three: resetting caps and feathers

If you want to wipe a stat instead, the Obsidian Caps set one IV to 0, such as the Atk Obsidian Cap. The cobblemon_utility:voidcap sets all IVs to 0, and the Void Feather sets EVs to 0.[4]

Step four: Ball Synchronizer

The Ball Synchronizer swaps the Ball a Pokemon is in. Let the Pokemon hold the Ball you want, then right click it with the Synchronizer. The old Ball is voided. The quest book covers it in the "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter ("Ball Synchronizer" quest) and says it mostly pays off with Balls that give benefits after catching.[3][4]

Step six: Shiny Card

The Shiny Card switches a Pokemon's shiny status, either normal to shiny or shiny to normal, and it is used up when you use it. The quest book ("Shiny Card" quest) calls it quite expensive.[3][4]

Step seven: friendship, level and devolving

For smaller tweaks, the Poké Treat increases friendship, and the Stale Poké Treat decreases it. The Common Candy reduces a level by 1.[4]

Finally, the Devolution Relic forces a Pokemon to devolve. In the quest book it sits in the "Evolution" chapter, right after the "Evolve your Pokemon" quest quest. The quest says it does not work on first evolution Pokemon.[4][6]

How does Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) work?

5 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) adds utility items to Cobblemon. In this pack its mechanics are item-based: each item changes one thing about a Cobblemon, such as an IV, its EVs, its level, its friendship, its gender or its Poké ball. Everything below comes from the item descriptions in the mod's own language file and the pack's recipe list.[1][4]

IV caps

The caps are the mod's IV tools. Silver caps set one specific IV to 31, and there is one for each stat: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed. Obsidian caps do the opposite and set one specific IV to 0. For example, Atk Silver Cap sets Attack to 31 and Atk Obsidian Cap sets Attack to 0.[4]

The other caps work on all IVs at once. cobblemon_utility:voidcap sets every IV to 0. The Golden Cap sets every IV to 31, and the Wooden Cap randomizes them.[4]

The silver cap recipes were changed by the pack, so they are not the mod's defaults. The Attack one is shown here as an example. The obsidian cap recipes and the Void Cap recipe are the mod's own, and an obsidian cap recipe makes 2 caps per craft.[5]

Friendship and level

Poké Treat increases a Cobblemon's friendship, and Stale Poké Treat decreases it. The Stale Poké Treat is crafted from a Poké Treat, and one craft makes 2. Common Candy reduces a Cobblemon's level by 1, and one craft makes 4. The Master Candy goes the other way and sets a level to 100.[4][5]

Cobblemin and Cobblemax

Cobblemin minimizes a Cobblemon's level, IVs and friendship in one go. Cobblemax is the reverse and maximizes those same stats. The Cobblemin recipe is shapeless and uses other items from this mod, so it ties into the caps, treats and candies above. One craft makes 2.[4][5]

Evolution, gender, ball and shiny tools

Devolution Relic forces a Cobblemon to devolve. Transmutation Orb switches a Cobblemon's gender, and the project page notes this only applies where a gender switch is possible. The Shiny Card switches a Cobblemon's shiny status.[1][4]

Ball Synchronizer changes a Cobblemon's Poké ball to match the ball in its item slot. To use it, put the Poké ball you want in the Cobblemon's item slot, then right click the Cobblemon with the synchronizer.[1][4]

The pack changed the Devolution Relic and Ball Synchronizer recipes from the mod's versions. The Transmutation Orb recipe is the mod's own.[5]

How do you progress through Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

4 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) doesn't have a big tier ladder with its own quest line. In this pack's quest book it shows up in just a few places, and the rest of its progression is crafting. Here is where each piece sits, then the item families you can build.[3][5][6]

Where the quest book puts it

  • In the Tips and Poke Tricks chapter you get "Transmutation Orb" quest (Transmutation Orb), "Shiny Card" quest (Shiny Card) and "Ball Synchronizer" quest (Ball Synchronizer). All three are among the quests that the "Complete all tricks!" quest waits on.[3]
  • The Transmutation Orb switches a Pokemon's gender when you right click it. The quest suggests it for when you can't find the Pokemon you need for breeding.[3]
  • The Shiny Card turns a normal Pokemon shiny, or a shiny one back to normal, and it is used up when you use it. The quest calls it quite expensive.[3]
  • The Ball Synchronizer switches the Ball a Pokemon is in. Have the Pokemon hold the Ball you want, then use the Synchronizer on it. The old Ball is voided.[3]
  • The Devolution Relic is in the Evolution chapter, after the "Evolve your Pokemon" quest. That one follows "Beat that Trainer!", which follows the Trainer Spawner quest, which follows Series, which follows Level Caps. Give the Relic to a Pokemon to devolve it. It does not work on a first-stage Pokemon.[6]
Tip: The Level Caps quest explains the gate before the Relic: with Radical Cobblemon Trainers, a Tier 1 evolution Pokemon at Level 15 can't evolve yet. You need to beat a certain trainer to unlock your level cap, and you find them through a Trainer Associate with a Trainer Card.[6]

The cap families

The mod has a few families of caps. The Wooden Cap is the plain one, and the cobblemon_utility:voidcap sits at the other end. In between there is a silver cap and an obsidian cap for each stat, such as Atk Silver Cap and Atk Obsidian Cap.[5]

How does Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) work with other mods?

2 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) leans on Cobblemon more than any other mod in this pack. The recipes in the dump that connect it to other mods pair its items with Cobblemon items and a few vanilla ones. Its quests sit in the pack's "Tips and Poke Tricks" chapter.[3][5]

Recipes that use Cobblemon items

The stat bottle caps are crafted from Cobblemon's mint leaves, with one mint leaf type for each stat. The Void Cap uses a mint leaf too. The pack also has a recipe that turns a Cobblemon Poké Ball into Cobblemin.[5]

The silver caps are where the pack has changed things. Their recipes are marked as changed by the pack, and they take any diamond gem and any iron ingot from the common tags, so a diamond or an iron ingot from another mod should work. The HP Silver Cap shows the pattern, and the other silver caps follow the same layout with a different mint leaf.[5]

In the quest book

Three of the mod's items have their own quests in "Tips and Poke Tricks": "Transmutation Orb" quest for the Transmutation Orb, "Shiny Card" quest for the Shiny Card and "Ball Synchronizer" quest for the Ball Synchronizer. The chapter mixes tips from many mods, so these sit next to quests for Easy Villagers, Iron Jetpacks, Simple Magnets and others.[3]

The Ball Synchronizer quest ties in with Cobblemon's Poké Balls. It says the tool is mostly useful with balls that give benefits after a catch. The chapter's "Balls that help Pokemon" quest quest covers the Friend, Luxury and Heal Balls, which are the kind it means.[3]

Tip: Eight of the 26 quests in "Tips and Poke Tricks" are not covered here, so check the quest book in game for any other Cobblemon Utility+ tips.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More)?

2 parts

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) shows up in two quest chapters in the pack: "Tips and Poke Tricks" and "Evolution". Three of its items sit in the first chapter, and the fourth is the last quest in the second.[3][6]

Tips and Poke Tricks

Three quests here each ask you to hold one of the mod's items. They sit alongside the Poke Ball quests, and all three feed the "Complete all tricks!" quest a quest in "Tips and Poke Tricks", which comes after them.[3]

  • "Transmutation Orb" quest asks for the Transmutation Orb. Right click a Pokemon with it and it switches gender, which helps when you can't find the right Pokemon to breed.[3]
  • "Ball Synchronizer" quest asks for the Ball Synchronizer. Let a Pokemon hold the Ball you want, then use the Ball Synchronizer on it to switch its Ball. The Ball it was in is voided. The quest notes this is mostly useful with Balls that give benefits after a catch.[3]
  • "Shiny Card" quest asks for the Shiny Card. Click a Normal Pokemon with it to make it Shiny, or click a Shiny to turn it Normal. The card is used up when you use it. The quest calls it quite expensive.[3]

The "Complete all tricks!" quest lists these three among its prerequisites, along with the quests for the Poke Balls that help Pokemon, the Balls with a greater catch rate, the Balls thrown differently and the Trainer Repel Rod, plus one untitled quest. It is a checkmark quest, so there is nothing to hand in.[3]

Evolution

The Devolution Relic quest, a quest in "Evolution", is the last step of a chain in this chapter. It comes after "Evolve your Pokemon" quest, which comes after "Beat that Trainer!" quest. That one follows a quest in "Evolution", which follows "Series" quest, which follows "Level Caps" quest.[6]

The quest asks for the Devolution Relic itself. Give it to a Pokemon to devolve it. The quest also says it does not work on first-stage Pokemon.[6]

Tip: The Evolution chapter runs through the Radical Cobblemon Trainers level cap quests before it reaches the Devolution Relic. Work through Level Caps, Series and the trainer battle first, then the relic quest unlocks.[6]

What changed in Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) between versions?

Cobblemon Utility+ (IVs, EVs, & More) ships in All the Mons 0.9.0-beta at version 1.7.2, and it has been part of the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]

The one change the mod's own 1.7.2 changelog lists is a fix to the Wooden Bottlecap recipe.[7]

Unverified The sources here do not include any pack changelog entries for this mod, so which pack releases changed it, and how, is not shown. Earlier mod versions are not covered either.
