Rechiseled is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.2.5. Rechiseled allows you to chisel blocks into various decorative blocks with connected textures! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Rechiseled?

2 parts

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants with connected textures. The project page says it adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks. This pack includes version 1.2.5.[1][2]

How it works

Everything runs through the Chisel. Right-click with it to open the chiseling screen, where you put in a block, preview all its variants and take the one you want. Most variants also come as stairs and slabs, and you get those from the same screen.[1][3]

You can also left-click a block that is already placed to change it to a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block acts as a filter, and any left-clicked blocks will be transformed to that variant.[1]

Tip: If your blocks aren't connecting, most of them come in a version with and without connecting textures. A button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen toggles between the two. The chisel has no durability, so it can be used as many times as you want.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Rechiseled" quest is in the "Building Tips" chapter, which is chapter 3 of 70 in the book and has 63 quests. It asks you to get the chisel and comes right after "Changing Blocks" quest. That quest follows "Tools!" quest, which follows "Building Tips!" quest.[3]

Two other quests also follow Changing Blocks: "Chisel Reborn" quest, which covers another chisel mod, and "Camol" quest. Of the quests the book shows for this chapter, none comes after the Rechiseled quest. Thirty of the chapter's quests have text that isn't included here, so check the quest book itself for the rest. Rechiseled is not on the ATM Star quest path.[3]

The quest text describes the screen in a bit more detail. You pick a design on the left and can preview it as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, with a button to make the preview spin or stay still. Clicking the chisel in the screen applies the selected design to every changeable block in your inventory.[3]

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks between decorative variants that have connected textures. It adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, and everything starts with one tool: the Chisel.[1][4]

Craft the chisel

Make the chisel first, because it is the tool you use to swap blocks between their variants. It uses the mod's own recipe, which the pack hasn't changed.[1][4]

The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as often as you like.[1]

Learn the two ways to chisel

  • Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in to preview all its variants, then swap between them and their stairs and slabs.[1]
  • Left-click a placed block with the chisel to change it in the world. With nothing stored in the chisel, you get a random variant.[1]
  • If you've stored a block in the chisel, it acts as a filter. Every block you left-click is turned into that variant.[1]
Tip: If your blocks aren't connecting, most of them come in a version with connecting textures and one without. Use the toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to switch.[1]

Get stairs and slabs from the screen

Most variants also have stairs and slabs, and you get them through the chiseling screen. The connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant.[1]

Polish bordered basalt with sandpaper

This pack adds a Create sandpaper polishing route for bordered basalt. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[4]

The same polishing works on the slab and stairs versions. Bordered Basalt Slab becomes Bordered Polished Basalt Slab, and Bordered Basalt Stairs becomes Bordered Polished Basalt Stairs.[4]

The connecting-texture versions have their own recipes, for Bordered Basalt Slab and Bordered Basalt Stairs.[4]

How does Rechiseled work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.53 guide

Rechiseled doesn't have machines, power or fluids. Its whole system is one tool and one screen: you take a block, you swap it for a decorative variant, and you do it as many times as you like. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, all built around connected textures.[1]

Everything runs through the chisel. It's the only item you need, and it never wears out: the chisel has no durability, so one is enough for an entire world.[1]

The chiseling screen

Right-click with the Chisel to open the chiseling screen. You put a block in, and the screen previews every variant that block has, then lets you exchange between them. This is the main way you convert stacks of material into decorative blocks.[1]

The screen also covers stairs and slabs. Most of Rechiseled's decorative variants have matching stairs and slabs, and you can pull those straight out of the chiseling screen rather than crafting them separately.[1]

Connected textures and the toggle

Connected textures are the core of the mod's look. Most blocks exist in two forms: one with connecting textures and one without. A button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen toggles between them, so if a wall isn't connecting the way you expect, that's the switch to check.[1]

Connections aren't limited to full blocks either. The connecting textures will also link up between the full block, the stairs, and the slab of the same variant, so a mixed wall of all three still reads as one continuous surface.[1]

Tip: If your blocks look right in your hand but refuse to connect once placed, you almost certainly grabbed the non-connecting version. Open the chiseling screen, hit the toggle in the bottom right, and re-chisel them.[1]

In-world chiseling

You don't have to break and replace blocks to redecorate. Left-click a placed block with the chisel and it changes to a decorative variant in place.[1]

By default a left-click picks a random variant, which is handy for rough, varied stonework. If you want control, store a block in the chisel first: that stored block acts as a filter, and every block you left-click will be transformed into that specific variant instead.[1]

  1. Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen and store the variant you want.[1]
  2. Close the screen and left-click placed blocks to convert them to that stored variant.[1]
  3. Clear the stored block if you'd rather go back to random variants for a textured, mixed look.[1]

Automation

Rechiseled itself is a hand tool, there's no in-mod machine that chisels for you. Automation comes from official addon mods instead. Rechiseled: Create adds a Mechanical Chisel that chisels blocks automatically using Create contraptions, plus over 100 decorative variants for Create's blocks. Rechiseled: Applied Energistics 2 adds a Chiseling Pattern Encoder so Rechiseled recipes can be autocrafted through an AE2 storage system, along with over 100 new variants of AE2 blocks.[1]

Unverified Whether the Create or Applied Energistics 2 addons are actually installed in this pack isn't confirmed by the sources provided here. Check your mod list before planning an automated chiseling setup.

What the variants look like

Variant names follow a simple pattern: the base block plus a style. For example, iron shows up as a Reinforced Block of Iron. Browsing the chiseling screen with a block in hand is still the fastest way to see what a given material offers.[1][5]

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

4 parts

Rechiseled doesn't have tiers in this pack. The sources show one tool, the Chisel, and everything the mod does happens inside it. So progression here means getting the chisel and learning how it works.[3][6]

Where it sits in the quest book

Rechiseled has its own quest in the Building Tips chapter, which is chapter 3 of 70 in the book. The path is short. "Building Tips!" quest leads to "Tools!" quest, which leads to "Changing Blocks" quest, and that leads to "Rechiseled" quest. The Rechiseled quest asks you to obtain the chisel.[3]

The same Changing Blocks quest also leads to the quests for other block-changing mods, such as "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest, "Camol" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest.[3]

Getting the chisel

The chisel is a plain crafting recipe from the mod, and the pack doesn't change it. Here is the exact recipe:[6]

ChiselMod recipe

Using it

Right click with the chisel to open its GUI. You pick a design on the left, and the blocks go in the bottom right. Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and a button toggles whether the preview spins.[3]

Next to the block slot there is a chisel button. Clicking it applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed. The quest also notes that this chisel has no durability, so you won't wear it out.[3]

Pack-added polishing recipes

This pack adds sandpaper polishing recipes for some Rechiseled basalt blocks. Each one turns a bordered basalt block into its polished version, and there is a separate recipe for each connecting variant.[6]

How does Rechiseled work with other mods?

1 part

The one confirmed link between Rechiseled and another mod in this pack is Create, through the Rechiseled: Create addon. The addon adds the Mechanical Chisel, which can chisel blocks automatically using contraptions from Create. It also adds 100+ decorative variants for blocks in Create.[1][6]

The Mechanical Chisel is crafted from the base mod's Chisel and an Andesite Casing. In the pack it is a shapeless crafting recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.[6]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: rechiseledcreate:mechanical_chisel

This is a shapeless crafting recipe, so the layout in the grid doesn't matter.

In the quest book

The quest book covers Rechiseled in the Building Tips chapter. "Rechiseled" quest comes right after "Changing Blocks" quest and asks you for the chisel. "Chisel Reborn" quest, for the separate Chisel Reborn mod, also comes after Changing Blocks, so the book presents the two chisel mods side by side.[3]

The chapter has 63 quests and 42 of them are not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book in game for the rest of what Building Tips says.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Rechiseled?

2 parts

Rechiseled shows up in one place in the quest book: the "Building Tips" chapter, which is chapter 3 of 70 and holds 63 quests. The quest is "Rechiseled" quest, and it asks you to get the Chisel.[3]

Where it sits in the chapter

The chain starts at "Building Tips!" quest, the intro quest for the chapter. After it comes "Tools!" quest, which asks for a Stick and covers the tools you'll want for building. From there you reach "Changing Blocks" quest, about changing the blocks you already have into different shapes, designs or even entirely new blocks. The Rechiseled quest comes right after that one.[3]

The Rechiseled quest isn't alone. Four other quests also unlock after Changing Blocks: "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Camol" quest, "Chipped" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest. They cover other block-changing mods, so they're good ones to read next.[3]

What the quest tells you

The quest describes Rechiseled as a continuation of Chiseled, with everything happening inside the Chisel tool. Right click with it to open its GUI.[3]

  • Choose the design on the left side of the GUI.[3]
  • Put your blocks in the slot at the bottom right.[3]
  • Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row, or a 3x3 wall of that block.[3]
  • A button lets you set the preview image to spin or not spin.[3]
  • Click the Chisel icon next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[3]
Tip: The quest points out that the Chisel has no durability, so you can use it as much as you like without it breaking.[3]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Rechiseled 1.2.5, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. There are no pack changelog entries for it, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[2]

1.2.0: the big update

Version 1.2.0 is the one that changed how the mod feels to use. Here are the highlights:[7]

  • Stairs and slabs were added for all of Rechiseled's decorative blocks, and for the vanilla chiseling recipe entries too.[7]
  • The chiseling screen was overhauled with a scrollbar, search field and filters. It now shows more entries at once and marks chiselable blocks in your inventory.[7]
  • You can now chisel blocks by left-clicking them with a chisel.[7]
  • Rechiseled's textures take up 76% less atlas space.[7]
  • Chiseling recipes can now include stairs and slabs, and other mods can register plugins to add or modify chiseling recipes.[7]
  • JEI and REI integration was improved.[7]
  • Flowers and other vegetation can now be placed on dirt blocks from Rechiseled.[7]
  • Tags were added for the blocks, stairs and slabs of each block type in the mod.[7]

That release also fixed several visual bugs: transparent blocks showing internal faces in the chiseling preview, connecting blocks like glass panes not connecting in the preview, and a couple of misaligned textures. It also fixed crashes with the mod Quad.[7]

Fixes from 1.2.1 to 1.2.5

  • 1.2.1: fixed in-world chiseling not working on a server.[7]
  • 1.2.2: fixed being able to obtain oversized item stacks from the chisel, and a crash when saving a chisel containing a stack larger than 99.[7]
  • 1.2.3: replaced the default JEI scrollbar with custom smooth scrolling, and fixed the Edged Block of Amethyst texture connecting incorrectly.[7]
  • 1.2.4: fixed the chisel stack not always updating when you shift-click items from its slot.[7]
  • 1.2.5: fixed non-connecting blocks also connecting with Fusion 1.3.0, and fixed the texture of the Compacted Coal Block.[7]

Earlier releases

Version 1.1.6 was the initial release of Rechiseled for Minecraft 1.20.5 and 1.20.6. Version 1.1.6a followed with a fix for missing mining tags on chiseled blocks.[7][8]
