Apothic-Spawners is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.4.0. A mod about moving and modifying Mob Spawners (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Apothic-Spawners?

2 parts

Apothic Spawners is the spawner module of Apotheosis. It lets you pick up Mob Spawners with Silk Touch and tweak them with ordinary items, so you can build faster and more efficient spawners than vanilla allows. This pack ships version 1.4.0.[1][2]

What it does

Every spawner has stats. Vanilla supplies the basics: minimum and maximum spawn delay, spawn count, max nearby entities, required player range and spawn range. Apotheosis adds more, such as initial health, ignore players, ignore conditions, redstone control, ignore light, No AI, silent, youthful, burning and echoing.[1]

You change those stats with Spawner Modifiers. Hold one or two input items in your hands and right-click the spawner. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it touches, and some change more than one stat at once. Hover over a stat to see what it does and the modifier's min or max value.[1]

The mod also adds the Capturing enchantment for swords, which gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death. A spawn egg changes which mob a spawner produces.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book gives it its own chapter, "Apothic Spawners", in the Resources group. It is chapter 37 of 70 and holds 34 quests. The chapter opens with "Apothic Spawners" quest, which asks you to have a spawner.[3]

Three quests come straight after that opener:[3]

The rune quests branch off a quest in "Apothic Spawners". They include "Quiet down you'll wake up the mobs!" quest, "Redstone Active" quest, "Spawn Range" quest, "Youthful" quest and a quest in "Apothic Spawners". The chapter also has quests on the spawner upgrade runes, on getting spawn eggs, and on spawners from other mods. Seven of the 34 quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3]

Tip: If you want a spawn egg, look at the Capturing quest (a quest in "Apothic Spawners"). It says each level gives a 0.5% chance of an egg per kill, and the highest level you can normally get is VII.[3]

How do you get started with Apothic-Spawners?

3 parts

Welcome to the spawner side of the pack! Here you pick up spawners, point them at the mob you want, then tune them with runes. The pack's quest book covers all of this in the "Apothic Spawners" chapter (group Resources, chapter 37 of 70). Here is the order I'd follow.[1][3]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Collect a spawner with Silk Touch. The first quest, "Apothic Spawners" quest, asks for a Spawner and reminds you that Silk Touch on spawners is back. Everything else in the chapter builds on having one in your hands.[3][4]
  2. Get a spawn egg and right click it on the spawner to change which mob it spawns. The quest book says spawn eggs normally can't be obtained, and then lists several ways to get them.[1][3]
  3. Pick a spawn egg route. The Capturing enchantment on a sword gives mobs a chance to drop their egg, at 0.5% per level on each kill, and the highest level you can normally get is VII. The quest book also points you to the Mob Grinding Utils swab and chicken feed method, and to Reliquary charm fragments.[3]
  4. Get the Spawner Rune, Spawner Rune. The quest book calls it the base material for modifying spawners, and it sits right after the "Blowing up Spawners" quest, "Blowing up Spawners" quest. That quest tells you a blown-up spawner spawns a large amount of its mob and leaves Spawner Chains behind (48 to 57 of them, at the time the quest was written).[3]
  5. Apply your first modifications. Modifiers are used by right clicking a spawner with one or two items held in your hands. The quest book's first-tier upgrade, Frontiersman's Spawner Upgrade Rune, is the cheapest and weakest. It sets Minimum Spawn Delay to 150, Maximum Spawn Delay to 600, Spawn Count to 7, Max Entities to 12 and Activation Range to 24.[1][3]

Delays are measured in ticks, and 20 ticks equal 1 second. Activation Range is how close you must be for the spawner to work.[3]

Good early tweaks

  • Rune of Perpetual Twilight makes the spawner ignore light levels. It does not ignore other needs, such as livestock wanting grass.[3]
  • Rune of Control gives the spawner an on/off switch, because without redstone power it won't spawn.[3]
  • Rune of Silence shuts up the spawner noises if they get on your nerves.[3]
  • Quartz in your offhand reverses what the other modifier item does. With a Spawn Range rune, for example, it decreases the range instead of increasing it. The quest is "Opposite Day" quest.[3]

When you want more

The stronger modifications need an Infused Spawner Rune, Infused Spawner Rune. The quest book says you need at least 70 Eterna, 30% Quanta and 50% Arcana in an Enchanting Table, and it sends you to the Apothic Enchanting chapter for how to get there. After that quest come the "Ignore Players", "Ignore All Conditions" and "No AI" runes, plus the third and fourth tier upgrade runes.[3]

Tip: Not sure how a modifier is made? The mod's own advancement text says to see JEI for info on collecting and modifying spawners, so look up the rune there.[4]

Unverified The exact in-pack crafting recipes for the spawner runes could not be confirmed from the sources available for this section, so no recipe is shown here.

How does Apothic-Spawners work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Apothic Spawners is the spawner module of Apotheosis. The sources describe it as a mod about moving and modifying mob spawners. They describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. Everything here is about spawner stats, the modifiers that change them, and the Capturing enchantment.[1]

Collecting a spawner

You can pick up a mob spawner with Silk Touch, and one of the mod's advancements asks you to do exactly that. The mod's in-game info text comes in different variants: one names the tool used to collect spawners, one says spawners always drop when broken, and one says collection with Silk Touch is currently disabled.[1][5]

Unverified Which collection behavior this pack uses is decided by the mod's settings, and the sources here do not show it. Test it on a spawner before you plan around it.

Vanilla spawner stats

Every spawner has a set of basic stats that come from vanilla. You can hover over a modified stat to see its description and the modifier-specific min or max value.[1]

  • Minimum Spawn Delay and Maximum Spawn Delay: the lower and upper bounds, in ticks, of the time between spawns.[1]
  • Spawn Count: the upper bound on the number of entities spawned.[1]
  • Max Nearby Entities: how many entities of the spawning type can be nearby before spawning stops.[1][5]
  • Required Player Range: the radius, in blocks, that a player must be within for the spawner to be active.[1]
  • Spawn Range: the radius, in blocks, in which the spawner will try to spawn entities.[1]

Advanced stats from Apotheosis

On top of the vanilla stats, the mod adds several switches and effects. Some of them change how the spawner behaves, and others change the mobs it spawns.[1]

  • Ignore Players: the spawner ignores the required player range and activates regardless.[1]
  • Ignore Conditions: the spawner ignores all spawn rules for the spawned entity.[1]
  • Ignore Light: the spawner spawns the target entity regardless of light level.[1]
  • Redstone Control: the spawner must be activated by a redstone signal.[1]
  • Initial Health: the amount of max health, in percentage, that mobs spawn with.[1]
  • No AI: spawned mobs get the No AI flag. They are still moved by gravity and external force.[1]
  • Silent: spawned mobs get the Silent flag and make no sound.[1]
  • Youthful: if possible, spawned mobs will be babies.[1]
  • Burning: mobs spawn on fire.[1]
  • Echoing: spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]

Spawner modifiers

You change a spawner's stats with a Spawner Modifier. A modifier is a recipe that takes one or two input items held in your hands, and right-clicking the spawner applies the stat change. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it changes, and one modifier can change more than one stat at once. The in-game recipe viewer has a Spawner Modification category, and the mod's root advancement points you to JEI for details.[1][5]

Stat targets the advancements ask for

The advancements give you a rough roadmap of what a modified spawner can reach. They ask you to lower the minimum and maximum spawn delay to 20, raise the spawn count to 16, raise max nearby entities to 32, raise the spawn range to 32, and raise the player activation range to 48. They also ask you to disable the need for nearby players, spawn conditions, light requirements and mob AI, and to enable redstone control.[5]

At the moment, the final advancement asks for an ultimate spawner. As its description currently reads, it needs minimal delays, redstone control, no AI, ignored spawn conditions and ignored players.[5]

Tip: These numbers are advancement goals, not confirmed modifier caps. They currently tell you what the advancements ask you to reach, but not how each modifier gets you there.[5]

Capturing and changing the mob type

The mod also adds the Capturing enchantment, which applies to swords. It gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death, and the info text says the chance is a percentage per level. Spawn eggs can be used to change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1][5]

Unverified The actual drop rate per Capturing level in this pack is not shown by the sources here. It is set in the mod's settings.

How do you progress through Apothic-Spawners?

5 parts

In this pack, spawner progression is told in the quest book chapter "Apothic Spawners" quest, in the Resources group (chapter 37 of 70, 34 quests). It starts with the humble Spawner. The pack's quest book explains that Silk Touch mining is back, and that you can modify spawners by right clicking them with a set of rune items.[3]

Step 1: Get a spawner and some chains

Three quests branch off the first one. "Blowing up Spawners" quest has you blow up a spawner with Tnt. The spawner becomes unstable, spawns a large amount of its mob and leaves Spawner Chain behind. The quest says 48 to 57 chains at the time of writing. Another quest covers Spawn Eggs, which you right click on a spawner to change its mob. The third, a quest in "Apothic Spawners", uses PneumaticCraft's Spawner Agitator, which keeps spawned mobs from despawning if you leave the chunks.[3]

After the chains quest comes a quest in "Apothic Spawners" with the Spawner Rune, the base material for modifying spawners. Every rune quest below follows from it, either directly or through the Infused rune.[3]

Step 2: Basic modifications

These quests all come straight after the Spawner Rune quest. Each one is a single tweak to your spawner:[3]

Step 3: The Spawner Upgrade Rune tiers

Upgrade Runes work differently from the rest. They change several stats at once and set them to fixed values instead of nudging each one. Spawn delays are in ticks, and 20 ticks equals 1 second. The spawner picks a random delay between the minimum and maximum. Spawn Count is the maximum number of mobs per spawn, Max Entities is how many can exist at once, and Activation Range is how close you need to be.[3]

  1. Tier 1, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" (Frontiersman's Spawner Upgrade Rune): the cheapest and weakest. Minimum delay 150, maximum delay 600, Spawn Count 7, Max Entities 12, Activation Range 24. It comes right after the Spawner Rune quest.[3]
  2. Tier 2, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" (Wayfarer's Spawner Upgrade Rune): minimum delay 100, maximum delay 400, Spawn Count 10, Max Entities 18, Activation Range 32. The quest says any Spawn Egg works for crafting this rune.[3]
  3. Tier 3, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" (Mountaineer's Spawner Upgrade Rune): minimum delay 50, maximum delay 200, Spawn Count 13, Max Entities 24, Activation Range 40. The quest warns you will need to fight a Warden for it, and it follows the Infused Spawner Rune quest.[3]
  4. Tier 4, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" (Thundering Spawner Upgrade Rune): the final tier. Both delays are 20, Spawn Count 16, Max Entities 32, Activation Range 48. The quest notes Endersurge Gems can be obtained in The End.[3]

Step 4: Advanced modifications

a quest in "Apothic Spawners" is where the advanced runes unlock. You need to infuse your runes into an Infused Spawner Rune, which requires at least 70 Eterna, 30% Quanta and 50% Arcana in an Enchanting Table. The quest gives three ways to reach that: 14 Deepshelves that aren't Dormant, 13 Glowing Hellshelves and 2 Deepshelves, or 12 Crystalline Seashelves and 2 Deepshelves. The Apothic Enchanting chapter covers these mechanics in more detail.[3]

Other ways to get Spawn Eggs and other spawners

The chapter also covers egg sources: the Capturing enchantment on a sword in a quest in "Apothic Spawners", Mob Grinding Utils swabs in a quest in "Apothic Spawners", and Reliquary's Mob Charm Fragment in a quest in "Apothic Spawners". A separate group of quests, starting from a quest in "Apothic Spawners", looks at spawners from other mods, such as a quest in "Apothic Spawners" and a quest in "Apothic Spawners".[3]

Unverified The crafting recipes for the runes are not confirmed in the sources for this section, so check the quest book or a recipe viewer in game. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Which All the Mons quests use Apothic-Spawners?

5 parts

Everything for this mod lives in one quest chapter, "Apothic Spawners". It sits in the Resources group, is chapter 37 of 70 in the book, and holds 34 quests. It starts with the basics, then splits into three branches: other mods' spawners, ways to get Spawn Eggs, and the spawner runes.[3]

The starting quest and its first branches

"Apothic Spawners" quest is the entry point and asks for a Spawner. It explains that Spawners can be mined with Silk Touch again, and that you can modify them by right clicking with certain items.[3]

Three quests come straight after it: a quest in "Apothic Spawners", "Blowing up Spawners" quest and an untitled checkmark quest about Spawn Eggs. The Agitator comes from PneumaticCraft. With Apothic Spawners in the pack it keeps spawned mobs from despawning if you leave the chunks.[3]

"Blowing up Spawners" quest asks for Spawner Chain and Tnt. A blown-up spawner spawns a large amount of its mob and leaves chains behind, 48-57 of them at the time the quest was written.[3]

Spawners from other mods

An untitled checkmark quest, a quest in "Apothic Spawners", introduces spawners provided by mods other than Apothic Spawners. Each of these has its own quest asking you to obtain the item:[3]

Getting Spawn Eggs

The untitled quest a quest in "Apothic Spawners" explains that you can right click a Spawn Egg on a spawner to change its mob. Several quests then cover ways to get eggs:[3]

Spawner runes

a quest in "Apothic Spawners" comes after the chain quest and asks for Spawner Rune, the base material for modifying spawners. Most of the other rune quests come after it, in this order:[3]

Advanced runes

Five quests follow the Infused Spawner Rune: "Echoing" quest (multiplies the loot mobs drop), "Ignore Players" quest (works without a nearby player as long as the chunk is loaded), "Ignore All Conditions" quest, "No AI" quest (mobs lose all AI) and a quest in "Apothic Spawners".[3]

The Mountaineer's rune is the third upgrade tier and the quest says you need to fight a Warden for it. It sets delays of 50 and 200, Spawn Count 13, Max Entities 24 and Activation Range 40.[3]

a quest in "Apothic Spawners" is the fourth and final tier, also after the Infused Spawner Rune. It sets both delays to 20, Spawn Count to 16, Max Entities to 32 and Activation Range to 48. The quest says Endersurge Gems can be obtained in The End.[3]

Tip: Ignore All Conditions skips light levels, blocks needed for spawning and biomes, but space conditions still apply. Slimes still need a 3x3 area, and a player still needs to be nearby unless you also use the Solitude rune.[3]
