What is Universal Grid?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Universal Grid adds one thing: a single Universal Grid for Refined Storage. Instead of carrying a separate grid for each job, you carry one that you can switch between modes.[1]
For Minecraft 1.21.1 or above, the project page lists these modes: Grid, Crafting Grid and Autocrafting Monitor. For 1.20.1 or below it lists Grid, Crafting Grid and Fluid Grid instead.[1]
This pack includes Universal Grid 26.1.2-1.0.2, and it was first included in version 0.0.4 or earlier.[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter, group or position for Universal Grid, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. Check the pack's quest book in game if you want to know whether it is covered there.
How do you get started with Universal Grid?
3 parts
The Universal Grid mod adds a single wireless grid for Refined Storage that you can switch between several grid types, so you don't need to carry a separate wireless grid for each job. Its project page lists Grid and Crafting Grid among the modes.[1]
The mod only adds two items, so your first steps are short.[3][4]
First: make the Wireless Universal Grid
Your first item is the Wireless Universal Grid. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so go by the recipe below and not by what you may remember from other packs.[3]
Crafting Shaped

This is the pack's changed recipe.
Once it's crafted, you can open it with the key binding named "Open Wireless Universal Grid" in your controls.[4]
Next: keep it powered
In this pack, energy use is turned on, so the Wireless Universal Grid needs power to work. Here are the values the pack sets in the common config file:[5]
- useEnergy is true, so the grid uses energy.[5]
- capacity is 6,400.[5]
- openUsage is 60 energy to open it.[5]
- craftUsage is 2 energy per item crafted.[5]
- clearUsage is 20 energy to clear the crafting matrix.[5]
Later: the Creative Wireless Universal Grid
The Creative Wireless Universal Grid is the mod's second item. The pack added its recipe, and it is made in an Extended Crafting shaped table, not at a normal crafting table. The recipe uses the Wireless Universal Grid from above as one of its ingredients, so you need to make that one first.[3]

How does Universal Grid work?
4 parts
The Universal Grid is a small mod with one job: it adds a single Refined Storage grid that you can switch between several grid types, so you don't need a separate grid for each. The mod has a wireless item, a creative version of it, and an energy system you can tune in the config.[1][4][5]
The two items
You get two items from this mod: the Wireless Universal Grid and the Creative Wireless Universal Grid. There is also a keybind called "Open Wireless Universal Grid", and the screen itself is titled "Universal Grid".[4]
The mod's project page says the grid is switchable between a Grid and a Crafting Grid, plus a third mode that depends on the Minecraft version: Fluid Grid on 1.20.1 or below, Autocrafting Monitor on 1.21.1 or above.[1]
Energy use
The wireless grid can run on energy. In this pack that is controlled by useEnergy, which is set to true. It is the option for whether the Wireless Universal Grid uses energy at all.[5]
The other energy values live in the same config file. This is what the pack sets:[5]
- capacity is 6,400. This is the energy capacity of the Universal Crafting Grid.[5]
- openUsage is 60. This is the energy used by the Universal Crafting Grid to open.[5]
- craftUsage is 2. This is the energy used by the Wireless Universal Grid to craft an item.[5]
- clearUsage is 20. This is the energy used by the Wireless Universal Grid to clear the crafting matrix.[5]
Each of these values must be greater than 0. With the pack's numbers, opening costs 60 while a single craft costs 2, so how often you open the grid matters more than how much you craft.[5]
Getting the wireless grid
The pack has changed the crafting recipe for the Wireless Universal Grid, so don't rely on the mod's default. This is the recipe you need in this pack:[3]

The creative version
The pack adds its own recipe for the Creative Wireless Universal Grid. It is an endgame item, crafted in an Extended Crafting shaped table. The normal wireless grid is one of its ingredients, along with several Refined Storage creative wireless grids and other late-game parts.[3][6]

How do you progress through Universal Grid?
2 parts
Universal Grid comes in a basic form and a creative form in this pack: the Wireless Universal Grid and the Creative Wireless Universal Grid. The creative one is built on top of the basic one, so you work through them in that order.[3][6]
Starting tier: Wireless Universal Grid
The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. It is a normal crafting table recipe built from Refined Storage wireless grid items plus a diamond. The recipe below is the exact in-pack version.[3]
Crafting Shaped

Endgame tier: Creative Wireless Universal Grid
This one is added by the pack. It isn't made at a regular crafting table. You craft it at an Extended Crafting shaped table, and the pack's script for it sits in the endgame items folder.[3][6]
The basic Wireless Universal Grid is one of the ingredients, which is why it comes first. The rest of the recipe is a large pattern of Refined Storage and Extra Storage components, so check the recipe below before you start gathering materials.[3][6]

How does Universal Grid work with other mods?
2 parts
Universal Grid is built as an add-on for Refined Storage, and the pack's recipes show it. Both of its items are made from Refined Storage gear, and the creative version also pulls in Extra Storage and a KubeJS item.[1][3]
Wireless Universal Grid
The pack changed the recipe for the Wireless Universal Grid. It combines Refined Storage's wireless grid family, the Wireless Grid and the Wireless Fluid Grid, with the Wireless Crafting Grid from the Refined Storage add-on. It also needs Quartz Enriched Iron and a diamond gem.[3]

Creative Wireless Universal Grid
The Creative Wireless Universal Grid is an endgame recipe that the pack adds with a KubeJS script. It is crafted in an Extended Crafting shaped table, not at a normal crafting table.[3][6]
It uses a lot of Refined Storage material: the creative wireless grid, the creative wireless fluid grid and the creative wireless crafting monitor, plus the Creative Wireless Crafting Grid from the add-on. You also need the regular Wireless Universal Grid as an ingredient, so make that one first.[3][6]
The Refined Storage building blocks in the recipe are the basic, improved and advanced processors, and the Block of Quartz Enriched Iron.[3][6]
From outside Refined Storage, the recipe asks for the 16384k Storage Block and the Neural Processor from Extra Storage, plus Infinity 5.[3][6]

Which Universal Grid config options matter?
Universal Grid has a single common config file, and it is all about energy. Here is exactly how this pack sets each option, starting with the main switch, useEnergy.[5]
- useEnergy is set to true, so the Wireless Universal Grid uses energy in this pack.[5]
- capacity is 6,400. This is the energy capacity of the Universal Crafting Grid, and it must be above 0.[5]
- openUsage is 60. This is the energy the Universal Crafting Grid uses to open.[5]
- craftUsage is 2. This is the energy the Wireless Universal Grid uses to craft an item.[5]
- clearUsage is 20. This is the energy the Wireless Universal Grid uses to clear the crafting matrix.[5]
Here is how the costs compare: opening costs 60, clearing the crafting matrix costs 20, and a single craft costs only 2. Crafting itself is cheap, so your energy goes mostly on opening and clearing.[5]
