Universal Grid in All the Mods 11

Universal Grid adds one thing: a single Universal Grid for Refined Storage. Instead of carrying a separate grid for each job, you carry one that you can switch between modes.^[1]

For Minecraft 1.21.1 or above, the project page lists these modes: Grid, Crafting Grid and Autocrafting Monitor. For 1.20.1 or below it lists Grid, Crafting Grid and Fluid Grid instead.^[1]

This pack includes Universal Grid 26.1.2-1.0.2, and it was first included in version 0.0.4 or earlier.^[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter, group or position for Universal Grid, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. Check the pack's quest book in game if you want to know whether it is covered there.

Universal Grid is a small add-on for Refined Storage, and it only adds one thing for you to make in normal play: the Wireless Universal Grid. One item can switch between several grid types, so you don't need a separate wireless item for each.^[1][3]

Open it and pick a grid type

For Minecraft 1.21.1 or above, the project page says the grid can be switched between Grid, Crafting Grid and Autocrafting Monitor. The mod's screen has a Grid Type label for this.^[1][4]

1. Open the grid with the key binding called Open Wireless Universal Grid.^[4]
2. Change the grid type with the key binding called Switch Wireless Universal Grid Type.^[4]
3. Both key bindings sit in a key category called Universal Grid, so you can look them up there and rebind them if you like.^[4]

Universal Grid is a small mod with a focused job: it adds a wireless grid for Refined Storage and nothing else. The whole mod revolves around a handheld item, the Wireless Universal Grid.^[1]

A grid that switches type

The idea is that you carry a single item and switch it between Refined Storage grid types, instead of carrying a separate wireless item for each. Which types you get depends on the Minecraft version, as listed on the mod's project page.^[1]

• On 1.21.1 or above: Grid, Crafting Grid and Autocrafting Monitor.^[1]

The sources here don't say which Minecraft version this pack runs, so check in game which list applies to you. The grid screen has a "Grid Type" label.^[1][4]

Controls

The mod adds its own key bindings under a "Universal Grid" category in your controls menu. They are named "Open Wireless Universal Grid" and "Switch Wireless Universal Grid Type". That means you can open the grid and change its type from the keyboard without digging through your inventory.^[4]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Wireless Universal Grid, a shaped crafting recipe added by the mod.

Energy and settings

The Wireless Universal Grid has an energy capacity, and the mod's settings screen also has an option for the selected grid type. The tooltips describe them as "The energy capacity of the Wireless Universal Grid" and "The selected grid type of the Wireless Universal Grid".^[4]

The mod also has a Creative Wireless Universal Grid item.^[4]

Unverified The pack ships no config file for this mod that the sources here show, so the actual energy capacity value, how the item is recharged and any range limits are unverified.

The only crafted item the pack's recipe dump lists for Universal Grid is the Wireless Universal Grid. It is a shaped crafting recipe, and the dump marks it as coming from the mod itself, not as a pack-made recipe.^[3]

Since there is just this one recipe to follow, there are no separate tiers to step through here. Check the recipe above when you plan your build.^[3]

All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Universal Grid 26.1.2-1.0.2. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 11 0.0.4 or earlier. These are the mod's own changelog entries for the 26.1.2 releases.^[2]

Mod releases

• 26.1.2-1.0.0: the 26.1.2 port.^[5]
• 26.1.2-1.0.1: fixed a crash that happened with a beta release of Refined Storage.^[6]
• 26.1.2-1.0.2: fixed the grid selector opening when you press a keybind key and its modifier in quick succession.^[7]

The 1.0.2 fix is the one you'll notice in play. If you use modifier keybinds, the grid selector no longer pops up by accident when you press the key and its modifier close together.^[7]
