Sanguine Neural Networks is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 2.0. An addon to hostile neural networks and blood magic that allows a less laggy blood generation (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Sanguine Neural Networks?

1 part

Sanguine Neural Networks is an addon that links Hostile Neural Networks with Blood Magic, so you can get blood without the lag of the usual setups. It mainly adds one block, the Virtual Sacrificer. It is a spiritual successor to Deep Mob Learning: Blood Magic Addon.[1]

You connect the Virtual Sacrificer to a blood altar. It uses power and produces blood, but only while a model is inserted. The model type decides how much energy is used and how much blood is made. The tier also changes the blood output, but not the power use.[1]

You can boost it with catalysts and with sacrifice runes. Catalysts increase the blood produced for a certain number of operations, and the sacrifice runes in your altar structure add a further boost.[1]

Tip: This pack uses version 2.0 of the mod. From version 1.1.0 onward, the models and catalysts are set in recipes, so you change them with a datapack. The other settings are in the common config folder.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest book has a quest for the mod's block in the "Blood Magic" chapter, which sits in the "Production" group.[3]

The a quest in "Blood Magic" quest asks you to tick a checkmark and hand in the Virtual Sacrificer. It comes after "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest, which in turn follows "Blood Altar II" quest. No other quest in the chapter lists it as a prerequisite, so nothing comes after it.[3]

The Virtual Sacrificer is not on the ATM Star quest path, so you can treat it as an optional extra.[3]

How do you get started with Sanguine Neural Networks?

4 parts

Sanguine Neural Networks is an addon to Blood Magic and Hostile Neural Networks that mainly adds one block, the Virtual Sacrificer. When it is connected to a Blood Altar, it consumes power and generates blood, but only if a model is inserted. This page gives you the order to get there.[1]

Step 1: Work through the early Blood Magic quests

You'll find these in the pack's quest book, in the Production group, in the Blood Magic chapter (chapter 29 of 44). It opens with "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest, then a quest in "Blood Magic", then "Blood Altar II" quest. After that comes "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest, and the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest sits right after it.[3]

A slate branch also leads off the first Blood Altar quest: "Slates" quest, then a quest in "Blood Magic", then a quest in "Blood Magic". The recipe blocks below show exactly what each item needs, so it is worth checking them against what you have unlocked.[3][4]

Step 2: Craft the Virtual Sacrificer

Recipe id: sanguine_networks:virtual_sacrificer

This is the pack's recipe for the block that feeds blood into your Blood Altar.

The Virtual Sacrificer needs a model inside it. The type of model defines how much energy is used and how much blood is made, and the model's tier also affects the blood but not the power. Without a model, the screen shows "Missing data model!", and without a linked altar it shows "Blood Altar is missing!".[1][5]

The mod's own message gives the order: first shift right-click the Blood Altar, then shift right-click a Virtual Sacrificer. If no altar position has been saved, you are told to select an altar first. If the saved altar is missing, unloaded or in another dimension, you get a warning too.[5]

What the pack changed

The pack sets several Virtual Sacrificer options in the mod's common config. Here is how they compare with the mod defaults:[6]

Tip: The Virtual Sacrificer also accepts catalysts, which boost the blood produced for a certain number of operations, and the number of sacrifice runes in your altar structure adds another boost. The Extra HNN combined model sums blood from all four inner models and uses one catalyst use per completed cycle.[1][5]

How does Sanguine Neural Networks work?

5 parts

The mod is built around one block, the Virtual Sacrificer. You connect it to a Blood Magic Blood Altar, feed it power, and it produces blood, but only while a model is inserted. The mod describes itself as an addon for Hostile Neural Networks and Blood Magic that allows a less laggy blood generation.[1]

Linking the sacrificer to an altar

The sacrificer needs to know which altar to fill. You do that with the Wrench.[5]

  1. Shift right-click the Blood Altar with the Wrench. This saves the altar's position, and the Wrench tells you the saved x, y and z.[5]
  2. Shift right-click the Virtual Sacrificer with the Wrench. You get a message that the Blood Altar was saved in the sacrificer.[5]
Tip: If the Wrench complains, read the message. It tells you when no altar is saved yet, when the position is not a valid selection, or when the saved altar is missing, unloaded or in another dimension. The sacrificer's screen shows "Blood Altar is missing!" when it has no altar to work with.[5]

Models, energy and blood

The model you insert decides how much energy the sacrificer uses and how much blood it makes. The model's tier also changes the blood, but not the power. With no model inside, the screen shows "Missing data model!".[1][5]

The screen shows your current energy, the energy it is consuming per tick, the blood produced per operation in LP, the altar multiplier, the catalyst multiplier and the catalyst uses left. In JEI, 1 mB of Life Essence equals 1 LP, and the blood values shown there are before altar rune bonuses.[5]

From mod version 1.1.0 onward, the model and catalyst settings are recipes instead of config options. This pack sets them with a KubeJS script that registers one blood recipe per entity, grouped into tiers. Each tier has an energy value and a list of blood values, and the first value in every list is 0. The sources here do not spell out which model tier uses which value in the list.[1][7]

  • Tier 1 entries (such as the cow, pig, sheep and squid): energy 10,000, blood values 0, 10, 22, 45, 70.[7]
  • Tier 2 entries (such as the zombie, skeleton, blaze, ghast and enderman): energy 15,000, blood values 0, 25, 65, 95, 130.[7]
  • Tier 3 entries (the iron golem, ender dragon and elder guardian, plus some modded bosses): energy 75,000, blood values 0, 40, 95, 145, 180.[7]
  • Tier 4 entries (the wither, warden and a list of modded bosses): energy 1,500,000, blood values 0, 100, 150, 195, 300.[7]

The pack also carries data files that contain just an empty {} for some of the mod's own blood entries, such as blaze, chicken and cod, and for the barrier catalyst. The script above is what registers the entries listed here.[7][8][9][10][11]

Combined models

extra_hnn_models_enabled is true in this pack, so Extra HNN combined models work in the sacrificer. This is a sacrificer-only feature. It sums the blood from all four inner models at the Extra HNN tier. The power cost is 10 times the sum of their recipe costs, and each completed cycle consumes one catalyst use.[5][6]

Catalysts and altar runes

The sacrificer has an optional catalyst slot. With it blank you get no bonus. A catalyst multiplies the blood produced, and the mod page says this lasts for a certain number of operations. The number of sacrifice runes in the altar structure gives another boost.[1][5]

This pack registers two catalysts: Infinity 11 with a multiplier of 6.66 and Infinity 12 with a multiplier of 16.66. Both have their uses value set to -1.[7]

Pack config

The mod's settings live in the common config file. Here is what this pack sets, next to the mod default shown in each option's comment.[1][6]

  • sacrificer_energy is 15,000,000. The mod default is 1,000,000, so the pack gives the sacrificer a much bigger energy buffer.[6]
  • sacrificer_speed is 250 ticks of waiting before it produces blood. The mod default is 100.[6]
  • sacrificer_data is 1, the same as the default. It is how much data each iteration gives the model, and 0 disables it.[6]
  • faulty_data is false, so data is not given to faulty models. The mod default is true.[6]

How do you progress through Sanguine Neural Networks?

4 parts

This mod is an add-on for Blood Magic, so its progression lives inside the pack's Blood Magic quest chapter. That chapter sits in the Production group and is chapter 29 of 44 in the quest book. The mod doesn't have a tier ladder of its own in the quests. It has one quest, and the rest of its progression comes from the pack's blood recipe tiers, covered below.[3][7]

The quest path

The quest book has one quest for this mod, a quest in "Blood Magic". It asks you to hand in the Virtual Sacrificer and also has a checkmark task. The book places it at the end of this Blood Magic chain:[3][4]

  1. Start with "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest, a simple checkmark quest.[3]
  2. Move on to a quest in "Blood Magic", which asks you to hand in the altar and the sacrificial dagger.[3]
  3. Continue to "Blood Altar II" quest, which the quest book places after the first altar quest.[3]
  4. Then do "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest, which asks you to hand in the self sacrifice rune and the incense altar.[3]
  5. Finish with a quest in "Blood Magic", which the quest book places straight after Improving Self Sacrifice.[3][4]

Here is how the pack crafts the Virtual Sacrificer. It uses a Blood Magic dagger and slate, so you can't skip ahead of the Blood Magic basics.[4]

The mod's Wrench is also craftable in the pack, and it is built from a Blank Slate, so you can make it early. The quest book doesn't have a quest for it.[3][4]

Where the altar quests lead

The rest of the chapter is mostly Blood Magic's own altar progression. In the quest book, "Blood Altar III" quest follows Blood Altar II. "Blood Altar IV" quest is placed after both Blood Altar III and the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest. "Blood Altar V" quest is placed after Blood Altar IV and the a quest in "Blood Magic" quest. After that come the altar tier card quests, a quest in "Blood Magic" through a quest in "Blood Magic", which ask for items from another add-on.[3]

Blood tiers set by the pack

The pack doesn't use the mod's default mob blood recipes. It ships empty data files for individual mobs such as the blaze, cow and zombie, and a script then adds the blood recipes itself. The script sorts mobs into four tiers, and each tier has one energy value and a list of blood values.[7][8][12][13]

  • Tier 1: energy 10,000 and blood values 0, 10, 22, 45 and 70. It covers passive and early mobs such as the pig, cow, sheep, chicken, spider, slime and squid, plus a few Twilight Forest mobs like the deer and the redcap.[7]
  • Tier 2: energy 15,000 and blood values 0, 25, 65, 95 and 130. It covers mobs such as the zombie, skeleton, creeper, blaze, ghast, enderman, witch and wither skeleton, plus some Thermal, Twilight Forest and Born in Chaos mobs.[7]
  • Tier 3: energy 75,000 and blood values 0, 40, 95, 145 and 180. It covers the iron golem, ender dragon and elder guardian, plus Twilight Forest mobs such as the naga, the lich and the alpha yeti.[7]
  • Tier 4: energy 1,500,000 and blood values 0, 100, 150, 195 and 300. It is the boss tier, with the wither and warden alongside mobs from Cataclysm, Bosses of Mass Destruction and Twilight Forest, such as the hydra and the snow queen.[7]
Tip: Energy jumps from 75,000 at tier 3 to 1,500,000 at tier 4, so plan your power setup before you chase the boss mobs.[7]

Catalysts

The pack also defines two catalysts. The item kubejs:infinity_11 has a multiplier of 6.66, and kubejs:infinity_12 has a multiplier of 16.66. Both have uses set to -1. The pack leaves the default barrier catalyst recipe file empty.[7][11]

How does Sanguine Neural Networks work with other mods?

3 parts

Sanguine Neural Networks is an addon for Blood Magic and Hostile Neural Networks, and in this pack its Blood Magic side is the one you will meet first. The Virtual Sacrificer connects to a blood altar, uses power and makes blood once a model is inserted.[1]

The Virtual Sacrificer is built from Blood Magic items mixed with a couple of vanilla parts, so you need to be well into Blood Magic before you can make one. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The Virtual Sacrificer quest, a quest in "Blood Magic", is in the Blood Magic chapter. That chapter is in the Production group and is chapter 29 of 44 in the book. The quest comes right after "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest, which asks for a self sacrifice rune and an incense altar. That one in turn comes after "Blood Altar II" quest. The Virtual Sacrificer quest asks for a checkmark and the block itself.[3]

The slates used in the recipe have their own quests in the same chapter. "Slates" quest asks for the Blank Slate, and a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the Imbued Slate. The Imbued Slate comes after the Reinforced Slate quest.[3]

How the altar ties in

The altar link is more than a connection. The number of sacrifice runes in the altar structure gives the Virtual Sacrificer a boost, which fits with the self sacrifice quest that comes just before it in the book. Catalysts can also boost the blood it makes for a set number of operations.[1][3]

The mod page also says it reuses Blood Magic textures for the blood orb and sacrifice rune, and Hostile Neural Network assets for its machine models and GUI.[1]

Unverified The pack ships its own data files for the per-mob blood recipes and the barrier catalyst recipe, but they show up empty in the sources. What they change, and how the Hostile Neural Networks models connect to them, is unverified.

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Sanguine Neural Networks?

2 parts

Only one quest in the pack's quest book deals with this mod directly: a quest in "Blood Magic", which asks for the Virtual Sacrificer. It sits in the Blood Magic chapter, in the Production group (chapter 29 of 44 in the book). The chapter has 45 quests in total, and most of them are about Blood Magic itself.[3]

What the quest asks for

The Virtual Sacrificer quest has two tasks: a checkmark and handing in the Virtual Sacrificer item. It unlocks right after "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest.[3]

The path to get there

The quests run in this order, each one unlocking the next:[3]

  1. "Welcome to Blood Magic" quest is the chapter opener and is just a checkmark.[3]
  2. a quest in "Blood Magic" asks for the blood altar and the sacrificial dagger.[3]
  3. "Blood Altar II" quest asks for 8 items through an item filter.[3]
  4. "Improving Self Sacrifice" quest asks for the self sacrifice rune and the incense altar.[3]
  5. a quest in "Blood Magic" is the checkmark plus the Virtual Sacrificer.[3]

So you only need the early Blood Altar quests and the self sacrifice upgrades done before this mod's quest opens up. Nothing in the book comes after the Virtual Sacrificer quest in this chapter.[3]

Which Sanguine Neural Networks config options matter?

2 parts

The settings for this mod live in one file, config/sanguine_networks-common.toml. The mod's page says almost everything is configurable. In this pack, the Virtual Sacrificer's energy capacity, its speed and the faulty data option are changed from the mod default, and the rest of the options in the file are left alone.[1][6]

Values the pack changed

  • sacrificer_energy is 15,000,000 in this pack. The mod default is 1,000,000, so the Virtual Sacrificer's energy capacity is much larger here.[6]
  • sacrificer_speed is 250 in this pack. It is the number of ticks the Virtual Sacrificer waits before producing blood, and the mod default is 100.[6]
  • faulty_data is false in this pack. It controls whether data is given to faulty models, and the mod default is true. In this pack, faulty models do not get data.[6]

Values left at the mod default

  • sacrificer_data is 1, the same as the mod default. It is how much data the model receives each iteration, and the file notes that 0 disables it.[6]
  • extra_hnn_models_enabled is true, also the mod default. This allows Extra HNN combined models in the Virtual Sacrificer.[6]
Tip: Models and catalysts are not in this config file. From version 1.1.0 of the mod, their settings are handled through recipes and have to be changed with a datapack.[1]
