What is Extra Hostile Neural Networks?

1 part

Extra Hostile Neural Networks 1.2.2 is the version in this pack. It builds on the base Hostile Neural Networks items. This pack's quests ask you for the base Deep Learner, Sim Chamber and Loot Fabricator first, then move on to the Extra items: upgrades, a Merger Camera for making extra data models, and bigger Ultimate machines.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The mod has no chapter of its own. Its quests live inside the "Hostile Neural Networks" chapter, in the "Resource Generation" group. That is chapter 11 of 44 in the book, with 164 quests in total. The sources here show only part of the chapter, so the rest of the quest text is in the quest book itself.[2]

The Extra quests branch off the base quests. Once you have done "Simulating Deaths" quest and "Creating Loot" quest, the book opens up the Extra content like this:[2]

How do you get started with Extra Hostile Neural Networks?

5 parts

The Extra Hostile Neural Networks quests live in the Hostile Neural Networks chapter of the quest book, in the Resource Generation group. This mod builds on the base Hostile Neural Networks machines, so do the base chain first: "Welcome to Hostile Neural Networks!" quest, then Learning Mobs and Modeling Mobs, then "Simulating Deaths" quest and "Creating Loot" quest. The extra content opens up after that.[2]

Step 1: the Extra Model Framework

Your first item is the Extra Model Framework. The Merger Camera, the Ultimate Simulation Chamber V1, the Setting Card and the upgrades all use it in their recipes. The pack changed this recipe, so craft it from the one below, not from what you remember of the mod.[3]

Step 2: the Merger Camera

The Merger Camera is the core of the mod. The quest a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the camera and the framework together, and it is tagged "4x your models!". The framework's tooltip says you combine 4 data models into one combined model, which carries every type of predicate used to make it.[2][4]

The pack changed this recipe, and it is crafted in the Extended Crafting table.

Each fusion takes 25,000 FE over 500 ticks, set by [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Cost]] and [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Duration]]. The camera stores up to 100,000,000 FE ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Cap]]). These match the mod's defaults.[5]

After the camera, the quest "Wither Skeleton, Wither, Ender Dragon, Warden Data Model" quest ("Try a combo!") asks you to make a combined Extra Data Model.[2]

Step 3: speed up your leveling

The Simulator Modeling quest is titled "Models upgrading too slow?". Its recipe builds on the Upgrade: Speed, so craft the upgrade first. In the quest book the Upgrade: Speed quest comes right after the Simulator Modeling quest.[2][3]

The pack changed this recipe, and it is crafted in the Extended Crafting table.

The speed upgrade's tooltip says it increases speed but also raises energy use. In this pack [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Speed]] is 50 and [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Speed Energy]] is 2. The Simulator Modeling machine costs 100,000 FE/t ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Simulation Modeling Power Cost]]) and runs for 100 ticks.[4][5]

Watch out: The pack blacklists the Draconic Guardian model from simulation modeling, so it cannot be improved that way ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Black list for Simulation Modeling]]). The pack also changed the minimum tier a standard model needs before it starts leveling up: it is now BASIC instead of the mod default FAULTY ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Minimum Upgrade tier - Hostile]]).[5]

Step 4: Upgrade Data, then Upgrade Tier

Next in the quest line is Upgrade: Data, which comes after the Simulator Modeling quest. Its tooltip says it increases the data received per simulation, and [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Data Kill]] is set to 2.[2][4][5]

Step 5: the V1 machines

Once you have the Extra Model Framework, the quest book offers Ultimate Simulation Chamber V1 and Ultimate Loot Fabricator V1, both tagged "4x Processing". Each one is built from the matching base Hostile Neural Networks machine, so keep those around.[2][3]

The Loot Fabricator V1 costs 4,096 FE/t, runs for 50 ticks and stores 10,000,000 FE. The Simulation Chamber V1 also stores 10,000,000 FE and runs for 250 ticks. V2 to V4 follow in the quest book as 16x, 32x and 64x Processing.[2][5]

There is also a Setting Card quest called "Copy/Paste", which unlocks after Creating Loot.[2]

How does Extra Hostile Neural Networks work?

6 parts

Extra Hostile Neural Networks adds upgraded versions of the Hostile Neural Networks machines: the Ultimate Loot Fabricator V1 and Ultimate Simulation Chamber V1 lines, each running from V1 to V4, plus the Merger Camera and the Simulator Modeling.[3][4][6][7]

Crafting the machines

The pack changed the recipes for these machines. The V1 machines, the Merger Camera and the Simulator Modeling are made in the Extended Crafting shaped table. The V2, V3 and V4 versions are ordinary shaped crafting recipes that consume the earlier versions, so you climb the ladder one step at a time.[3][6][7][8][9]

Also an Extended Crafting table recipe changed by the pack.

Power and speed

These machines have their own FE buffer. Higher versions store more and finish a cycle in fewer ticks. For the Ultimate Loot Fabricators, the config also sets an FE/t cost per version. These are the values in this pack, and they match the mod's defaults:[5]

  • Loot Fabricator V1: 10,000,000 FE buffer, 4,096 FE/t, 50 ticks.[5]
  • Loot Fabricator V2: 50,000,000 FE buffer, 16,384 FE/t, 40 ticks.[5]
  • Loot Fabricator V3: 100,000,000 FE buffer, 65,536 FE/t, 30 ticks.[5]
  • Loot Fabricator V4: 200,000,000 FE buffer, 262,144 FE/t, 20 ticks.[5]

The Ultimate Simulation Chambers follow the same pattern for buffer and duration:[5]

  • Simulation Chamber V1: 10,000,000 FE buffer, 250 ticks.[5]
  • Simulation Chamber V2: 50,000,000 FE buffer, 200 ticks.[5]
  • Simulation Chamber V3: 100,000,000 FE buffer, 150 ticks.[5]
  • Simulation Chamber V4: 200,000,000 FE buffer, 100 ticks.[5]

The config doesn't list a per-version energy cost for the Simulation Chambers. Their screens show the energy cost per simulation in FE/T, the data you get per simulation and an iteration count, so check those readouts in game.[4][5]

Merger Camera and Simulator Modeling

The Merger Camera fuses data models. The config gives it a 100,000,000 FE buffer, a total of 25,000 RF to fuse models and a duration of 500 ticks. The Extra Model Framework tooltip says you combine 4 of them into a combined data model, and holding Shift on it tells you it gives all the predicate types used in creating the model.[4][5]

The Simulator Modeling levels models up during simulation. It has a 100,000,000 FE buffer, a cost of 100,000 and a duration of 100 ticks. The pack changed [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Black list for Simulation Modeling]] so that it lists the Draconic Evolution Draconic Guardian model, which therefore can't be improved this way.[5]

Model tiers and upgrades

A model must reach a minimum tier before it can start levelling up. Standard Hostile Neural Networks models use the order SELF_AWARE, SUPERIOR, ADVANCED, BASIC, FAULTY, and the pack set the threshold to BASIC where the mod default is FAULTY. Extra Hostile models use OMNIPOTENT, SYNTHETIC, ADAPTIVE, INTELLIGENT, AUTONOMOUS, and that threshold stays at AUTONOMOUS. Both thresholds show in the tooltips as the minimum level to upgrade (Standard) and (Custom).[4][5]

The pack limits the upgrade items to a stack size of 1. They do the following:[10]

  • Upgrade: Speed speeds the machine up. The config sets 50 for the speed boost and 2 for how many times energy consumption increases.[4][5]
  • Upgrade: Data multiplies the data you get per simulation. The config sets 2.[4][5]
  • Upgrade: Tier lets you jump straight to the next model tier, but raises energy consumption. The config sets 10,000,000 as the energy needed to move to the next tier.[4][5]

Extra Data Models and the uncrafter

The data model slot in these machines accepts only an Extra Data Model. The pack also adds shapeless recipes around a kubejs item, the Extra Data Model Uncrafter, that carry a model's saved data between the model and the uncrafter. A framework on its own also converts into an uncrafter.[3][4][11]

Multiblocks

The pack's multiblock scripts use these machines as structure blocks. The structures below allow ports anywhere and use a gigantic energy input port block. The tier numbers are minimum port tiers.[12][13]

  • Loot Fabrication Plant Tier 1 uses the V1 Loot Fabricator, the V1 Simulation Chamber and the Simulator Modeling. It needs an item input port of at least tier 2 and an item output port of at least tier 8.[12]
  • Loot Fabrication Plant Tier 2 uses the V4 versions of both machines, the Simulator Modeling and the Merger Camera. Its item output port must be at least tier 9, the input port is still at least tier 2, and one core block is swapped compared with Tier 1.[12]
  • Prediction Chamber Tier 1 uses the V4 Loot Fabricator in its layout, with an item input port, an item output port of at least tier 8 and an energy input port.[13]
  • Prediction Chamber Tier 2 has the same layout, but the output port must be at least tier 9 and one core block is swapped.[13]
Tip: When you build the output side, use a port that meets the minimum tier: 8 for the Tier 1 structures and 9 for the Tier 2 structures.[12][13]

Unverified How the multiblock controllers and ports are crafted, and the recipes the Prediction Chamber runs, live in the pack's Masterful Machinery scripts (ports_and_controllers.js and prediction_chamber_recipe.js). The sources here do not show their contents.

How do you progress through Extra Hostile Neural Networks?

6 parts

The Extra Hostile Neural Networks tiers sit inside the pack's Hostile Neural Networks quest chapter, in the Resource Generation group (chapter 11 of 44 in the book). That chapter has 164 quests. Most of them ask for data models and predictions, and the Extra HNN progression hangs off a handful of quests near the top.[2]

Where the path starts

"Simulating Deaths" quest asks for the Simulation Chamber, and "Creating Loot" quest comes after it and asks for the Loot Fabricator. The a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" quest comes after both of them. Its description says "4x your models!", and it asks for a Merger Camera and an Extra Model Framework.[2]

This pack changes both recipes. The framework is a normal crafting grid recipe, while the Merger Camera needs an Extended Crafting table.[3]

The four tiers

After the Extra Model Framework quest, the book splits into two parallel chains: the Ultimate Simulation Chamber and the Ultimate Loot Fabricator. Each chain runs V1, V2, V3, V4 in order, and the quest descriptions label every tier with a processing multiplier.[2]

All the tier recipes are changed by this pack. V1 of each machine is an Extended Crafting table recipe. V2, V3 and V4 are normal crafting grid recipes that build on the earlier tiers of their own chain, so you work up through the tiers in order.[3]

A separate branch starts at a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks", which comes after Simulating Deaths and is described as "Models upgrading too slow?". It unlocks a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" and a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks". a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after the Data upgrade. How does Extra Hostile Neural Networks work with other mods?

5 parts

Most of this mod's connections run straight back to base Hostile Neural Networks. The pack has changed the Extra Hostile Neural Networks recipes so that its late-game machines are built from base-mod machines, then pushed further with vanilla and other mods' materials.[3]

Built on base Hostile Neural Networks

Ultimate Loot Fabricator V1 starts from the base Loot Fabricator and a Prediction Matrix. It is crafted with a recipe of the Extended Crafting table type.[3]

The upgrade path keeps leaning on the base mod. Each of V2, V3 and V4 takes another Prediction Matrix and builds on the earlier fabricators: V2 uses V1, V3 uses V1 and V2, and V4 uses V2 and V3.[3]

The simulation side works the same way. Ultimate Simulation Chamber V1 is made from the base Simulation Chamber, and V2 takes another base Simulation Chamber on top of V1.[3]

Even the data model side starts from the base mod. The Extra Model Framework is crafted from the base Model Framework.[3]

Pack-made items and other mods' materials

The Merger Camera needs a pack-made item, Infinity 1. The Upgrade: Tier likewise needs Infinity 7.[3]

Simulator Modeling reaches into another mod. Its recipe uses the Block of Netherite-Diamond from Advanced Netherite.[3]

Masterful Machinery controllers

This is where the mod links up with the rest of the pack's machinery. The pack adds crafting recipes for Loot Fabrication Plant Controller and Prediction Chamber Controller. Both mix this mod's late-game items with parts from Botania, Common Ore Library and Thermal. The recipes are shown below.[3]

Extra Data Model uncrafter

The pack also adds its own Extra Data Model Uncrafter item for handling Extra Data Model items. A blank Extra Model Framework can be turned into one. Combining an Extra Data Model with an uncrafter gives an uncrafter that carries the model's stored data. An uncrafter on its own can be turned back into an Extra Data Model with that data.[3][11]

In the quest book

This mod's quests share a chapter with the base mod: "Hostile Neural Networks", in the "Resource Generation" group (chapter 11 of 44). The chapter has 164 quests, and many of them are not covered here, so read the rest in the quest book. The chain below shows how the two mods are intertwined.[2]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Extra Hostile Neural Networks?

5 parts

Extra Hostile Neural Networks shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. Most of it is in the Hostile Neural Networks chapter, in the Resource Generation group. One more quest sits in the Legendary Challenges chapter, in the Challenges group.[2][14]

Before the extra quests unlock

The chapter opens with "Welcome to Hostile Neural Networks!" quest, a simple checkmark. "Learning Mobs" quest and "Modeling Mobs" quest both come after it. "Simulating Deaths" quest follows those two, and "Creating Loot" quest follows that. The extra quests branch off from these last two.[2]

Simulator Modeling and the upgrades

  1. a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after Simulating Deaths and asks you to bring Simulator Modeling. Its subtitle asks "Models upgrading too slow?".[2]
  2. a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after Simulator Modeling and asks you to bring Upgrade: Data.[2]
  3. a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" also comes after Simulator Modeling and asks you to bring Upgrade: Speed.[2]
  4. a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after Upgrade: Data and asks you to bring Upgrade: Tier.[2]

Extra Model Framework and the Setting Card

a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after both Simulating Deaths and Creating Loot. It has two tasks: bring a Merger Camera and a Extra Model Framework.[2]

"Wither Skeleton, Wither, Ender Dragon, Warden Data Model" quest comes after Extra Model Framework, with the subtitle "Try a combo!". It asks you to bring an Extra Data Model.[2]

a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes straight after Creating Loot, not after the framework quest. Its subtitle is "Copy/Paste", and it asks you to bring the Setting Card.[2]

The Ultimate machine chains

Two chains start from Extra Model Framework: one for the simulation chamber and one for the loot fabricator. Each runs through four tiers, and each tier's quest comes after the one before it.[2]

Legendary Challenges

In the Legendary Challenges chapter, "Chaos Dragon" quest asks you to bring an Extra Data Model. The sources list no quest that has to be finished before it.[14]

Which Extra Hostile Neural Networks config options matter?

3 parts

Everything here lives in one file, config/extrahnn.cfg. Most values match the mod defaults. Only three options are flagged as changed by the pack, and those are the ones that shape how you level up models.[5]

What the pack changed

  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Minimum Upgrade tier - Hostile]] is set to "BASIC" in this pack. The mod default is "FAULTY". The tier order is SELF_AWARE > SUPERIOR > ADVANCED > BASIC > FAULTY, and the option sets the minimum entry threshold a model needs before it can start leveling up.[5]
  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Black list for Simulation Modeling]] holds "hostilenetworks:draconicevolution/draconic_guardian" in this pack, so that model cannot be improved during simulation modeling. The option expects the Hostile Networks model identifier, and the file's own example is hostilenetworks:blaze.[5]
  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Speed Energy]] is set to 2, which is how many times energy consumption increases. The file marks it as changed by the pack, but 2 is also the mod default, so you won't notice a difference.[5]

Upgrade options

These upgrade options sit at the mod defaults in this pack.[5]

  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Speed]] is 50, with an allowed range of 1 to 100. It controls the acceleration of mechanisms with a speed map.[5]
  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Data Kill]] is 2 ("How many times more data?").[5]
  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#upgrade.Upgrade Module Stack Cost]] is 10,000,000, the energy needed to move to the next tier.[5]
  • [[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#utils.Minimum Upgrade tier - Extra Hostile]] is "AUTONOMOUS", the same as the mod default. The order here is OMNIPOTENT > SYNTHETIC > ADAPTIVE > INTELLIGENT > AUTONOMOUS.[5]

Machine power

The Merger Camera and Simulation Modeling are also at their defaults. The Merger Camera stores up to 100,000,000 FE ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Cap]]), needs 25,000 RF to fuse data models ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Cost]]) and runs for 500 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Merger Camera Power Duration]]). Simulation Modeling also stores up to 100,000,000 FE, costs 100,000 ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Simulation Modeling Power Cost]]) and runs for 100 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#power.Simulation Modeling Power Duration]]).[5]

The Ultimate Loot Fabricator comes in four versions. Each step stores more energy, costs more FE/t and finishes faster. All of these match the mod defaults.[5]

  • V1: cap 10,000,000 FE, cost 4,096 FE/t, duration 50 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Loot Fab V1 Power Cost]]).[5]
  • V2: cap 50,000,000 FE, cost 16,384 FE/t, duration 40 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Loot Fab V2 Power Cost]]).[5]
  • V3: cap 100,000,000 FE, cost 65,536 FE/t, duration 30 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Loot Fab V3 Power Cost]]).[5]
  • V4: cap 200,000,000 FE, cost 262,144 FE/t, duration 20 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Loot Fab V4 Power Cost]]).[5]

The Ultimate Simulation Chamber follows the same pattern for energy storage and duration, again at the mod defaults.[5]

  • V1: cap 10,000,000 FE, duration 250 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Sim Chamber V1 Power Duration]]).[5]
  • V2: cap 50,000,000 FE, duration 200 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Sim Chamber V2 Power Duration]]).[5]
  • V3: cap 100,000,000 FE, duration 150 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Sim Chamber V3 Power Duration]]).[5]
  • V4: cap 200,000,000 FE, duration 100 ticks ([[config:config/extrahnn.cfg#version_machines.Ultimate Sim Chamber V4 Power Duration]]).[5]

Unverified The file also has unversioned entries for the Ultimate Loot Fab (power cap 100,000,000, cost 4,096, duration 30) and the Ultimate Sim Chamber (power cap 200,000,000, duration 150). They come with no description or default, so how they interact with the V1 to V4 settings is unverified.
