MythicBotany is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 1.20.1-4.0.4. Dive deeper into the world of botania (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is MythicBotany?

2 parts

MythicBotany is an add-on that expands Botania a little. This pack includes version 1.20.1-4.0.4. Its project page says everything it adds can also be found in the Lexica Botania.[1][2]

What it adds

  • The mana infuser: an upgrade to the terrestrial agglomeration plate. It needs gold and shimmerrock underneath and beside it, and besides Terrasteel it lets you make Alfsteel.[1]
  • Alfsteel: made like Terrasteel, but with Alfheim resources. It can be used to create better armor, pylons and other things.[1]
  • New flowers, including Wither Aconite, which creates mana from nether stars. Exoblaze, Hellebore, Aquapanthus and Raindeletia are also listed.[1]
  • An Alfheim dimension and some content from Norse mythology.[1]

Where the quest book puts it

MythicBotany has no chapter of its own. Its quests sit inside the Botania chapter, in the Production group.[3]

The first one you meet is a quest in "Botania", which asks you to bring in Wither Aconite. The mod's own page says this flower creates mana from nether stars. The quest comes after the five rune quests: Fire, Water, Mana, Air and Earth. Nothing in the chapter is listed after it.[1][3]

The next is a quest in "Botania", which asks you to bring in Alfsteel Ingot. The mod's page describes Alfsteel as made like Terrasteel, but with Alfheim resources. The quest follows "Alfheim resources" quest, which itself follows "Portal to Alfheim" quest. "Fighting the Guardian of Gaia" quest comes after it.[1][3]

The last is a quest in "Botania", where the quest asks you to hand in the Mana Collector. It follows a quest in "Botania", and that one follows a quest in "Botania" and "Gaia Spirits" quest. No quest is listed after it.[3]

The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so you can treat these quests as optional Botania extras.[3]

How do you get started with MythicBotany?

6 parts

MythicBotany expands Botania, and in this pack its content sits inside the Botania chapter of the quest book (group Production, chapter 27 of 44). The chapter opens with "Welcome to Botania !" quest. The mod's big goal here is Alfsteel, so the first steps are about reaching it and then using it.[1][3]

Reach Alfheim first

Follow the Botania quests through "Terrasteel Ingot" quest. "Portal to Alfheim" quest comes right after it, then "Alfheim resources" quest. You need to go this way because Alfsteel is made like Terrasteel but with Alfheim resources.[1][3]

Make your first Alfsteel Ingot

a quest in "Botania" follows Alfheim resources in the quest book. There are two recipes for the Alfsteel Ingot. The first is a Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate recipe, and the pack changed it, so don't rely on the mod's defaults.[3][4]

The second is the mod's own infuser recipe. The mod describes its mana infuser as an upgrade to the terrestrial agglomeration plate.[1][4]

Why Alfsteel matters for Gaia

This pack keeps replaceGaiaRecipe turned on, which means the Gaia Pylon recipe is replaced with one that requires Alfsteel. That fits the quest book, where "Fighting the Guardian of Gaia" quest comes after the Alfsteel Ingot quest. Make your ingots before you plan the Gaia fight.[3][5]

Upgrade your gear

Alfsteel gear is made at a smithing table with a smithing template. Two good first upgrades are the boots and the axe. The Alfsteel Boots make you jump higher, and the pack sets their jump modifier (alftools.jump_modifier) to 0.025.[4][5][6]

Wither Aconite for mana

a quest in "Botania" comes after the quests for the Fire, Water, Mana, Air and Earth runes. The Wither Aconite creates mana from nether stars, and in this pack each nether star is worth 1,200,000 mana (flowers.witherAconiteMana). The apothecary recipe was added by the pack, so check it before you start gathering flowers.[1][3][4][5]

This apothecary recipe was added by the pack.

The Mana Collector

The quest for the Mana Collector, a quest in "Botania", comes after a quest in "Botania". That spreader quest in turn follows the Elven Mana Spreader and Gaia Spirits quests, so this one is a later goal.[3]

Tip: Alfheim access is tied to the Mead of Kvasir. With lockAlfheim on, players who reach Alfheim through another mod without having drunk the mead get a blindness effect. The pack changed the recipe for Blood of Kvasir, which goes into the mead.[4][5]

How does MythicBotany work?

6 parts

MythicBotany expands Botania with a stronger crafting tier (Alfsteel), new flowers, Norse-flavoured rune rituals and an Alfheim dimension. Most of its systems are Botania-style: mana, petals and runes, with no power cables or item pipes involved. Here is how each part works in this pack.[1]

Mana Infuser and Alfsteel

The Mana Infuser is an upgrade to the terrestrial agglomeration plate. It needs gold and shimmerrock underneath and beside it. Besides Terrasteel, it can also make Alfsteel, which is crafted like Terrasteel but with Alfheim resources and is used for better armor, pylons and other things.[1]

Once you have ingots, you can compress them into a storage block.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Alfsteel Ingot

Recipe id: mythicbotany:alfsteel_ingot_compress

Alfsteel tools are upgrades of Terrasteel ones, made at a smithing table with the Alfsteel Template. The template's tooltip says it applies to Terrasteel equipment (a terrasteel armor, weapon or tool). The Alf Truncator is the example the sources show.[4][6]

Recipe id: mythicbotany:alfsteel_axe_smithing

The pack's config sets these Alfsteel values:[5]

  • Alf tools (axe, pickaxe and sword) each have a max durability of 4,600 and 200 mana per durability. See alftools.durability.axe.max_durability and alftools.durability.axe.mana_per_durability.[5]
  • Alfsteel armor has a max durability of 5,200 and 100 mana per durability.[5]
  • The Alf Blade deals 12 attack damage with an attack speed modifier of 2.4.[5]
  • Armor defense is 3 for the helmet, 8 for the chestplate, 6 for the leggings and 3 for the boots. Toughness is 3 on every piece.[5]
  • Each armor piece has its own perk: the helmet adds reach (modifier 2), the chestplate adds knockback resistance (modifier 1), the leggings add speed (modifier 0.05) and the boots add jump height (modifier 0.025).[5][6]

Alfsteel Pylons can repair mending tools, and the pack has replaceGaiaRecipe turned on, so the Gaia Pylon recipe is replaced by one that requires Alfsteel.[5][6]

Rune rituals

Rune rituals are multiblock crafts. You put a rune on a Central Rune Holder in the middle and place other runes around it on rune holders. Each rune's tooltip tells you whether it is for the central holder, its relative position (x and z from the centre), and whether the ritual consumes it or keeps it.[6]

The game tells you what went wrong when a ritual fails. You may be short on mana (you need enough on you), have the wrong items, have the wrong rune shape, or the ritual is already running. Some rituals also need a nearby entity that is sacrificed during the process, and one of them specifically needs a wandering trader.[6]

The pack ships its own ritual file for the Blood of Kvasir as an example of how the data is laid out. It uses the Rune Tablet of Fimbultyr in the centre, costs 20,000 mana and takes 200 ticks. None of its runes are consumed. Midgard runes sit at (-2, -2) and (2, 2), and Rune of Helheim runes sit at (2, -2) and (-2, 2). Further out, summer runes and fire runes are spread around the ring.[7]

Lifting the curse from a Cursed Ring of Andwari is done with a rune ritual too.[4][6]

Flowers and their machines-in-a-bloom

  • Wither Aconite creates mana from nether stars. In this pack each nether star gives 1,200,000 mana (flowers.witherAconiteMana).[1][5]
  • Exoblaze fills the fuel of brewing stands with mana.[1]
  • Hellebore stops piglins and hoglins from zombifying in the overworld.[1]
  • Aquapanthus fills petal apothecaries and cauldrons nearby.[1]
  • Raindeletia creates mana when it rains and needs a clear view of the sky. Vivid grass or enchanted soil under it makes it produce more.[1]

For Raindeletia the pack's config sets these modifiers: base 5 (always applied), rain 0.09, thunder 3, dry grass 0.5, vivid grass 2 and enchanted soil 5. The sources do not explain exactly how they combine.[5]

The pack also makes the Faded Nether Star item safe on the ground: when it spawns as an item entity, a script sets its age to -32,768 and makes it invulnerable.[8]

Other Botania-style processing

Not everything uses a new machine. Dreamwood Leaves come from an elven trade that takes any leaves, and the Gjallarhorn comes from mana infusion.[4]

Mjöllnir

Mjöllnir is heavy, so the pack's config controls who can hold it. mjoellnir.requirement is set to "effect", meaning you need the absorption effect. Someone holding the ring of Thor has the requirement set to "nothing" instead (mjoellnir.requirement_thor). If you cannot lift it, the game hints that the gods ate golden apples of Idun.[5][6]

  • Base damage is 25 for melee and 25 for the main target of a ranged throw.[5]
  • After a ranged attack there is a 120 tick cooldown before you can throw it again.[5]
  • Secondary targets take 0.4 times the main target's damage, with a 0.25 chance of also getting lightning.[5]
  • Sharpness and power enchantments use a multiplier of 5, and each level of Hammer Mobility adds 0.2 to the attack speed multiplier.[5][6]

Alfheim

The Alfheim dimension is enabled in this pack (enableAlfheim). If it were disabled, you could still use the mead of Kvasir but the portal would not work. lockAlfheim is on too, so players who reach Alfheim some other way without having drunk the mead get blindness. If the game says the dimension has not been loaded, restart the game or server.[5][6]

The pack also keeps addExtraRingSlot on, which adds an extra ring slot to curios. That is handy for rings like the Ring of Muspelheim.[5]

How do you progress through MythicBotany?

5 parts

MythicBotany has no chapter of its own in this pack's quest book. Its quests sit inside the Botania chapter (group "Production"), so you progress through the mod by following the Botania line.[3]

The quest path

  1. The quest book's Botania line starts with the checkmark quest "Welcome to Botania !" quest. The book places "Runic Altar" quest after the mana-infused items quest, and the five base rune quests (Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Mana) after that.[3]
  2. The first MythicBotany quest is a quest in "Botania". The book places it after the five base rune quests and asks you to hand in Wither Aconite, which the pack makes through its own apothecary recipe (see below).[3][4]
  3. The main Botania line goes on with "Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate" quest. The book places "Terrasteel Ingot" quest, "Portal to Alfheim" quest and "Alfheim resources" quest after it.[3]
  4. a quest in "Botania" sits after the Alfheim resources quest and asks you to hand in Alfsteel Ingot. The pack's recipes for that ingot are covered below.[3][4]
  5. The book places "Fighting the Guardian of Gaia" quest after the Alfsteel Ingot quest, then "Gaia Spirits" quest. a quest in "Botania" sits after both Gaia Spirits and a quest in "Botania".[3]
  6. The last MythicBotany quest is a quest in "Botania". The book places it after the Gaia Mana Spreader quest and asks you to hand in Mana Collector, whose crafting recipe is shown below.[3][4]

Wither Aconite: the pack's own gate

This one is different from the mod default. The Petal Apothecary recipe for Wither Aconite is added by the pack. It asks for a large set of Botania generating flowers, an Exoblaze, and a wither token (kubejs:wither_token) carrying a self_aware tag.[4][9]

Exoblaze has its own apothecary recipe, so you need to make it first.[4]

The pack also adds shapeless recipes that turn the floating versions of Aquapanthus, Exoblaze, Hellebore, Petrunia, Raindeletia and Wither Aconite back into the normal flower.[4]

Alfsteel: the Terrasteel upgrade

After Alfheim you reach Alfsteel Ingot. The pack changed the Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate recipe for it, so use this one in this pack.[4]

Gaia tier and the Mana Collector

The Mana Collector is the last MythicBotany quest, after the Gaia Mana Spreader. Its crafting recipe is a normal mod recipe.[3][4]

Runes beyond the quests

The Botania chapter has no quests for the Norse-themed runes such as Rune of Midgard, Rune of Vanaheim, Rune of Alfheim and Rune of Asgard, so they are not part of the quest path. The pack changed how Rune of Nidavellir is made, and its recipe is shown below.[3][4]

The pack also changed the rune ritual for Blood of Kvasir. The pack's data file sets it at 20,000 mana over 200 ticks, with the ritual placed around a Rune Tablet of Fimbultyr. The runes around it are 2 Midgard, 2 Helheim, 4 Summer and 4 Fire, and none of them are consumed. The sources do not show the mod default, so I can't say what changed.[4][7]

Tip: The Botania chapter's quests only ask for three MythicBotany items: Wither Aconite, the Alfsteel Ingot and the Mana Collector.[3]

How does MythicBotany work with other mods?

6 parts

MythicBotany is an add-on for Botania, so nearly every recipe you meet with it pulls in Botania items. A few recipes added by this pack also reach into other mods, such as Void Miners and Draconic Evolution. Here is where they connect.[1][4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The MythicBotany quests I can see sit inside the Botania chapter, in the Production group (chapter 27 of 44). The Wither Aconite quest a quest in "Botania" comes after the quests for the runes of Fire, Water, Mana, Air and Earth: a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania" and a quest in "Botania".[3]

The Alfsteel Ingot quest a quest in "Botania" follows "Alfheim resources" quest, which in turn follows "Portal to Alfheim" quest. The Mana Collector quest a quest in "Botania" comes after the quest called Gaia Mana Spreader. The chapter has 21 more quests that I can't show here, so check the quest book for those.[3]

Alfsteel and Botania gear

Alfsteel Ingot is the key material. The pack changed its Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate recipe, so use this one:[4]

The same smithing trick turns Greater Band of Mana into Greatest Band of Mana and Greater Band of Aura into Greatest Band of Aura.[4]

The other tools and armor follow the same pattern.

MythicBotany also crafts Botania blocks. Its recipes make the Alfsteel Pylon from a Natura Pylon, and the Gaia Pylon from that Alfsteel Pylon. The Mana Collector is a plain crafting recipe too.[4]

It uses Botania's Gaia Spirit Ingot, Glimmering Dreamwood and Pixie Dust.

Ores and smelting

MythicBotany's Dragonstone Ore gives you Dragonstone, and its Elementium Ore and Raw Elementium give you Elementium Ingot. Each can go through a furnace or blasting recipe from the mod. The pack also adds an alloy smelting recipe for each of them.[4]

Runes and flowers

The realm runes (Alfheim, Asgard, Helheim, Jötunheim, Midgard, Muspelheim, Nidavellir, Niflheim and Vanaheim) are all Botania Runic Altar recipes built on Botania runes. The pack changed the Nidavellir one.[4]

This Runic Altar recipe is changed by the pack.

Hellebore, Exoblaze, Petrunia and Raindeletia are all made in Botania's Petal Apothecary.[4]

Wither Aconite is the demanding one, because the pack added its own recipe. It needs Exoblaze and a long list of Botania's generating and functional flowers, plus a Wither token. The pack's script asks for a token with its self_aware tag set. The mod describes this flower as creating mana from nether stars.[1][4][9]

This Petal Apothecary recipe is added by the pack.

Rune rituals

The pack changed the ritual for Blood of Kvasir. It uses Botania's Soulscribe and Managlass Vial, costs 20,000 mana and runs for 200 ticks.[4][7]

This ritual is changed by the pack: 20,000 mana, 200 ticks.

The Ring of Andwari and Mjöllnir rituals also use Botania items such as Manaweave Cloth, Tiny Planet and Red String.[4]

Reaching into other mods

The pack adds two MythicBotany rune rituals for Void Miners machines: the Ultimate Miner and the Solar Ultimate Panel. Both need Alfsteel and several of the realm runes, together with Botania's Gaia Spirit Ingot and the Crimson, Saffron and Shadow ingots from Botanical Extra Machinery.[4]

Draconic Evolution's Mob Grinder is a pack-added crafting recipe that needs the Alf Blade alongside a Mystical Agriculture sword and Draconic Evolution parts.[4]

This crafting recipe is added by the pack.

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use MythicBotany?

2 parts

MythicBotany has no chapter of its own in this pack. Its quests sit inside the big Botania chapter, which is in the Production group and is chapter 27 of 44 in the book, with 79 quests. Three of them ask for MythicBotany items, and you reach them in this order: Wither Aconite, Alfsteel Ingot, then Mana Collector.[3]

Getting there: the Botania line

The chapter opens with "Welcome to Botania !" quest, a simple checkmark. Next comes a quest in "Botania", which leads to the mystical flower quests and then "Creating flowers" quest. After that the line branches into "The most important Functional flower" quest and "The first Generating flower" quest.[3]

"Mana storage" quest needs "Livingrock" quest, the generating flower quest and "Mana Spreader" quest. It unlocks "Mana-infused items" quest, which opens "Runic Altar" quest. The Runic Altar is where the five rune quests start: a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania", a quest in "Botania" and a quest in "Botania".[3]

The three MythicBotany quests

  1. a quest in "Botania" asks you to hand in Wither Aconite. It unlocks once the Fire, Water, Mana, Air and Earth rune quests are done. "Mana Spreader upgrades" quest and "Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate" quest also come after those same runes.[3]
  2. a quest in "Botania" asks for Alfsteel Ingot. You get there through "Terrasteel Ingot" quest, then "Portal to Alfheim" quest, then "Alfheim resources" quest. The Alfsteel Ingot quest is one of several that unlock from Alfheim resources, next to a quest in "Botania", "Elementium Tools" quest and "Elementium Armor" quest.[3]
  3. a quest in "Botania" asks for Mana Collector. It is the end of a chain. "Fighting the Guardian of Gaia" quest comes after the Alfsteel Ingot quest and leads on to "Gaia Spirits" quest. a quest in "Botania" needs both Gaia Spirits and the Elven Mana Spreader, and the Mana Collector quest follows it.[3]

Which MythicBotany config options matter?

5 parts

Most of the options you will care about are in the main MythicBotany config, with a couple of display options in the client config. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[5][10]

Alfheim and progression

  • enableAlfheim is true, so the Alfheim dimension is enabled. If it were false, the mead of kvasir would still work but the portal to Alfheim would not.[5]
  • lockAlfheim is true, so players who reach Alfheim through another mod without having drunk the mead of kvasir get a blindness effect.[5]
  • replaceGaiaRecipe is true, so the Gaia Pylon uses a recipe that requires Alfsteel.[5]
  • addExtraRingSlot is true, so you get an extra ring slot in curios.[5]

Mjoellnir

Mjoellnir is the item with the most settings. To hold it, mjoellnir.requirement is set to "effect", which means you need the absorption effect. If you hold the ring of thor, mjoellnir.requirement_thor is "nothing", and either that or the normal requirement being met is enough.[5]

Alfsteel tools and armor

Flowers

The wither aconite makes mana from nether stars, and flowers.witherAconiteMana is set to 1,200,000 mana per nether star.[1][5]

The raindeletia makes mana when it rains, and it makes more on vivid grass or enchanted soil. These are the pack's modifiers for it:[1][5]

Client options

Both client display options are left at true. hud_backgrounds keeps the background on Botania HUDs, and ring_particles keeps the particles from the mythicbotany rings on your own player. Set either to false if you want it gone. You will still see ring particles from other players.[10]

What changed in MythicBotany between versions?

1 part

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships MythicBotany 1.20.1-4.0.4. The mod was already in the pack by 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so that is the version you get on this release.[2]

MythicBotany 1.20.1-4.0.4

This is the version in the pack right now. The mod's own changelog lists these changes:[2][11]

  • General bugfixes.[11]
  • Houses were added to Alfheim.[11]
