What is Apothic Compats?

Apothic Compats is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 0.2.5.5 (file apothic_compats-0.2.5.5.jar), and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show what Apothic Compats does in this pack, and they do not show where the pack's quest book places it (chapter, group, or neighbouring quests) or whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the quest book itself for any mention of the mod.

How do you get started with Apothic Compats?

2 parts

Apothic Compats is a small add-on rather than a mod with its own progression. Its language file shows it adds extra affixes for weapons from other mods, plus a few gems named Mana Gem, Etheric Gem, Soul Stained Gem and Thief Gem. So there is no big build to start with, and the most useful first step is knowing what you may run into.[2]

Affixes you may see on gear

The mod's affix descriptions cover several weapon types: guns, scythes, staffs, melee weapons, dart shooters and potato cannons. If one of these shows up on your gear, here is what the text says it does.[2]

  • Infinite (guns): your bullets are infinite.[2]
  • Telepathic (guns): mob drops teleport to you.[2]
  • Magical (guns, dart shooters, potato cannons): your bullets or darts deal magic damage.[2]
  • Bloodied (melee): you deal more damage the lower your health is.[2]
  • Executing (scythes and staffs): enemies below a certain share of their max health are executed.[2]
  • Festive (guns, scythes and staffs): slain enemies have a chance to be a Loot Piñata.[2]

Custom curios are off in this pack

Watch out: In this pack, Curios.enableCustomCurios is set to false. The config describes it as the switch for whether custom loot curios are enabled, so do not count on that feature being active.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show how you obtain this mod's items in this pack. No recipes or quests for it are given, so there is no recipe block or quest to point you to. Check in game, for example in the recipe viewer, if you want to know more. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Apothic Compats work?

4 parts

The sources for Apothic Compats show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. What they do show is a set of weapon affixes, named gems, curio-related data and biome tags, so this section covers those.[2][4][5]

Weapon affixes

The mod's language file describes affixes grouped by weapon type: guns, melee weapons, scythes, staves, dart shooters and potato cannons. Most of them also have an "ancient" version with the same description. The exact values are filled in by the game, so the sources here don't show them.[2]

  • Gun affixes: Festive (slain enemies can become a Loot Piñata), Infinite (your bullets are infinite), Magical (bullets deal magic damage), Multishot (extra bullets per shot) and Telepathic (mob drops teleport to you).[2]
  • Melee affix: Bloodied, which makes you deal more damage the lower your health is.[2]
  • Scythe and staff affixes: Cleaving (attacks can also hit nearby enemies), Executing (enemies below a health threshold are executed), Festive and Thunderstruck (your attacks deal damage to nearby enemies).[2]
  • Dart shooter and potato cannon affix: Magical, which makes your darts deal magic damage.[2]

Gems

The language file also names gems under this mod: Mana Gem (Ars Nouveau), and Etheric Gem, Soul Stained Gem and Thief Gem (Malum). The sources here don't show what each gem does.[2]

Curios support

The mod ships an item tag that lists these Curios API slot types: back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus entries are marked as not required, so the tag still loads if those slots don't exist.[5]

Separately, the language file has curio-style item names such as Ornate Ring, Flashy Bracelet and Body Chain. Whether custom loot curios are enabled is controlled by Curios.enableCustomCurios. The pack sets it to false, so custom loot curios are off here.[2][3]

Tip: If you expected extra loot curios from Apothic Compats and can't find them, the pack has switched them off in its startup config.[3]

Biome tags

The mod defines biome tags for these Alex's Caves biomes: Abyssal Chasm, Candy Cavity, Forlorn Hollows, Magnetic Caves, Primordial Caves and Toxic Caves. Each entry is marked as not required, so the tags still load without that other mod.[4][6][7][8][9][10]

How do you progress through Apothic Compats?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide

There's no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The material I have doesn't describe any tiers, upgrade steps or progression order, so I'm not going to invent one for you. What the mod's own files do show is a set of tags, and they're worth knowing about.[4][5]

Cave biome tags

The mod ships a biome tag for each of these cave biomes from the alexscaves namespace. Each tag lists just its own biome, and that entry is marked as not required.[4][6][7][8][9][10]

  • The abyssal chasm tag points to the biome alexscaves:abyssal_chasm.[4]
  • The candy cavity tag points to alexscaves:candy_cavity.[6]
  • The forlorn hollows tag points to alexscaves:forlorn_hollows.[7]
  • The magnetic caves tag points to alexscaves:magnetic_caves.[8]
  • The primordial caves tag points to alexscaves:primordial_caves.[9]
  • The toxic caves tag points to alexscaves:toxic_caves.[10]

Curios filter tag

The mod also has an item tag called curios_filter. It collects these Curios slot tags: back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus slot tags are also listed, but they are marked as not required.[5]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quests or recipes for this mod, so no tier steps are listed in this section.

Which Apothic Compats config options matter?

Apothic Compats has only one config option that the sources for this pack show, and it lives in the startup config file, so it is read when the game launches.[3]

  • Curios.enableCustomCurios is set to false in this pack. The option answers the question "Should custom loot curios be enabled?", so in this pack custom loot curios are turned off.[3]

The sources here do not show the mod's default for this option, so I can't tell you whether the pack changed it. If you want custom loot curios, this is the key to look at in that file.[3]
