What is Apothic Compats?

Apothic Compats is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 0.2.4.3 (the file is apothic_compats-0.2.4.3.jar), and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Apothic Compats adds or changes in gameplay, and the mod has no in-jar guidebook to check. Treat any detail about its features as unconfirmed until it is documented elsewhere in this guide.

How do you get started with Apothic Compats?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

Good news first: there's nothing you need to craft to get going with Apothic Compats. The only material I could confirm for this mod is its tooltip text, and that text describes affixes, which are bonus properties on gear. It doesn't describe any items or recipes.[2]

What the mod adds

The mod's text entries define affixes for several weapon types: melee weapons, dart shooters, potato cannons, scythes and staffs. Most of them also have an ancient variant with the same description. So when you find gear with one of these affixes, check its tooltip.[2]

  • Melee: Bloodied makes you deal more damage the lower your health is.[2]
  • Dart shooters and potato cannons: Magical makes your darts deal magic damage.[2]
  • Scythes and staffs: Cleaving gives your attacks a chance to also hit nearby enemies.[2]
  • Scythes and staffs: Executing kills enemies that fall below a certain share of their max health.[2]
  • Scythes and staffs: Festive gives slain enemies a chance to be a Loot Piñata.[2]
  • Scythes and staffs: Thunderstruck makes your attacks deal damage to nearby enemies.[2]
Tip: The exact chances, health thresholds and damage amounts show up as placeholders in the source text, so read them off the in-game tooltip rather than trusting a number from somewhere else.[2]

What I couldn't confirm

Unverified I found no confirmed recipes, quests or guidebook entries for this mod in this pack, so I can't give you a first-items-to-craft order. Pack-specific values such as affix chances and thresholds are also unverified.

How does Apothic Compats work?

4 parts

Apothic Compats doesn't work like a tech mod. Nothing in the data for this pack shows machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. What the mod ships is compatibility content: extra weapon affixes, extra gems, curio-style items and a handful of tags.[2][3][4][5]

Weapon affixes

The mod's language file describes a set of affixes for specific weapon types. Each one also has an "ancient" variant with the same description. The exact numbers are filled in by the game, so I can't give you values here.[2]

  • Melee weapons get Bloodied: you deal more damage the lower your health is.[2]
  • Dart shooters and potato cannons get Magical: your darts deal magic damage.[2]
  • Scythes and staves get Cleaving: attacks have a chance to also hit nearby enemies.[2]
  • Scythes and staves get Executing: enemies below a certain percentage of their max health are executed.[2]
  • Scythes and staves get Festive: slain enemies have a chance to be a Loot Piñata.[2]
  • Scythes and staves get Thunderstruck: your attacks deal damage to nearby enemies.[2]

Gems

The language file names four extra gems: Mana Gem (filed under Ars Nouveau), and Etheric Gem, Soul Stained Gem and Thief Gem (all filed under Malum). The sources don't say what bonuses they give, so check them in game.[2]

Curios

The language file also names a set of wearable-style items: Adorned Boots, Back Plate, Body Chain, Embellished Curio, Fancy Charm, Flashy Bracelet, Florid Belt, Head Cover, Ornamented Necklace, Ornate Ring and Showy Gloves.[2]

The startup config has an option, Curios.enableCustomCurios, which asks whether custom loot curios should be enabled. This pack sets it to false.[5]

The mod also has an item tag that groups these curio slots: back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus slots are included only if they exist (they are marked as not required).[4]

Biome tags

The mod includes one biome tag for each of these Alex's Caves biomes: Abyssal Chasm, Candy Cavity, Forlorn Hollows, Magnetic Caves, Primordial Caves and Toxic Caves. Every entry is marked as not required, so the tags still load without that mod. The sources don't explain what the tags are used for.[3][6][7][8][9][10]

How do you progress through Apothic Compats?

2 parts

There's no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The material I have doesn't describe any tiers, upgrade steps or progression order, so I'm not going to invent one for you. What the mod's own files do show is a set of tags, and they're worth knowing about.[3][4]

Cave biome tags

The mod ships a biome tag for each of these cave biomes from the alexscaves namespace. Each tag lists just its own biome, and that entry is marked as not required.[3][6][7][8][9][10]

  • The abyssal chasm tag points to the biome alexscaves:abyssal_chasm.[3]
  • The candy cavity tag points to alexscaves:candy_cavity.[6]
  • The forlorn hollows tag points to alexscaves:forlorn_hollows.[7]
  • The magnetic caves tag points to alexscaves:magnetic_caves.[8]
  • The primordial caves tag points to alexscaves:primordial_caves.[9]
  • The toxic caves tag points to alexscaves:toxic_caves.[10]

Curios filter tag

The mod also has an item tag called curios_filter. It collects these Curios slot tags: back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus slot tags are also listed, but they are marked as not required.[4]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quests or recipes for this mod, so no tier steps are listed in this section.

Which Apothic Compats config options matter?

Apothic Compats has very little to configure in this pack. The only option in its startup file is Curios.enableCustomCurios, and the pack sets it to false.[5]

The file describes this option as controlling whether custom loot curios are enabled. With the pack's value of false, they are switched off.[5]

Tip: This is a startup config, so if you want to change it, edit config/apothic_compats-startup.toml and restart the game rather than expecting it to apply live.[5]

Unverified Whether false differs from the mod's own default for this option is not confirmed by the available sources, so don't assume the pack changed it.
