What is Apothic Compats?
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide
Apothic Compats is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 0.2.4.3 (the file is apothic_compats-0.2.4.3.jar), and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Apothic Compats adds or changes in gameplay, and the mod has no in-jar guidebook to check. Treat any detail about its features as unconfirmed until it is documented elsewhere in this guide.
How do you get started with Apothic Compats?
1 part
There is no ordered first-steps path for Apothic Compats in the sources for this pack, so this section sticks to what they do confirm: one startup setting and the items and affixes the mod names.[2][3]
This pack leaves custom loot curios switched on. That is the startup option Curios.enableCustomCurios, and it is set to true. Its own comment describes it as the switch for custom loot curios.[3]
What the mod adds
The mod's language file names these items: Adorned Boots, Back Plate, Body Chain, Embellished Curio, Fancy Charm, Flashy Bracelet, Florid Belt, Head Cover, Ornamented Necklace, Ornate Ring and Showy Gloves.[2]
It also names these gems: Mana Gem, Etheric Gem, Soul Stained Gem and Thief Gem.[2]
Finally, it adds affixes for gear. Guns can get Infinite (your bullets are infinite), Telepathic (mob drops teleport to you), Magical and Multishot. Scythes and staffs can get Cleaving, Executing and Thunderstruck. Melee weapons can get Bloodied, which gives more damage the lower your health is. Festive appears on guns, scythes and staffs, and gives slain enemies a chance to be a Loot Piñata.[2]
Unverified How you first get these items is not shown in the sources for this guide. No recipes for this mod's items and no quests that involve the mod were found, so there is no recipe block or ordered first-steps list here.
How does Apothic Compats work?
4 parts
Apothic Compats is a compatibility layer, and the sources here do not show machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. What they do show is a set of weapon affixes, named items, gems and biome tags. This section covers how those parts work, as far as the sources go.[2][4][5]
Weapon affixes
The mod adds affixes for guns, dart shooters, potato cannons, melee weapons, scythes and staves. Each affix has a normal version and an ancient version, and the descriptions read the same for both. The language file only gives placeholder values for the percentages and amounts, so the sources do not show the actual numbers.[2]
- Guns: infinite bullets, bullets that deal magic damage, extra bullets from multishot, mob drops that teleport to you (telepathic), and a festive chance for slain enemies to become a Loot Piñata.[2]
- Dart shooters and potato cannons: a magical affix that makes your darts deal magic damage.[2]
- Melee weapons: a bloodied affix that makes you deal more damage the lower your health is.[2]
- Scythes and staves: cleaving (a chance for attacks to also hit nearby enemies), executing (enemies below a max health threshold are executed), thunderstruck (your attacks deal damage to nearby enemies) and festive (a chance for slain enemies to become a Loot Piñata).[2]
Items and the config toggle
The language file names these items: Adorned Boots, Back Plate, Body Chain, Embellished Curio, Fancy Charm, Flashy Bracelet, Florid Belt, Head Cover, Ornamented Necklace, Ornate Ring and Showy Gloves.[2]
The startup config has an option, Curios.enableCustomCurios, described as "Should custom loot curios be enabled?". The pack sets it to true.[3]
The mod also ships an item tag called curios_filter. It collects the Curios API slot tags for back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus slot tags are marked as optional, so the tag still loads if those slots do not exist.[5]
Gems
The language file names gems tied to other mods: a Mana Gem (under ars_nouveau), and Etheric, Soul Stained and Thief gems (under malum).[2]
Biome tags
The mod defines a biome tag for each of these Alex's Caves biomes: Abyssal Chasm, Candy Cavity, Forlorn Hollows, Magnetic Caves, Primordial Caves and Toxic Caves. Every entry is marked as not required, so the tags load even when that biome is missing.[4][6][7][8][9][10]
How do you progress through Apothic Compats?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide
There's no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The material I have doesn't describe any tiers, upgrade steps or progression order, so I'm not going to invent one for you. What the mod's own files do show is a set of tags, and they're worth knowing about.[11][12]
Cave biome tags
The mod ships a biome tag for each of these cave biomes from the alexscaves namespace. Each tag lists just its own biome, and that entry is marked as not required.[11][13][14][15][16][17]
- The abyssal chasm tag points to the biome alexscaves:abyssal_chasm.[11]
- The candy cavity tag points to alexscaves:candy_cavity.[13]
- The forlorn hollows tag points to alexscaves:forlorn_hollows.[14]
- The magnetic caves tag points to alexscaves:magnetic_caves.[15]
- The primordial caves tag points to alexscaves:primordial_caves.[16]
- The toxic caves tag points to alexscaves:toxic_caves.[17]
Curios filter tag
The mod also has an item tag called curios_filter. It collects these Curios slot tags: back, belt, body, bracelet, charm, curio, feet, hands, head, necklace and ring. The rune, brooch and an_focus slot tags are also listed, but they are marked as not required.[12]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quests or recipes for this mod, so no tier steps are listed in this section.
Which Apothic Compats config options matter?
1 part
Apothic Compats has very little to configure in this pack. The only option the sources show is in the startup config file, and it is a single on/off switch.[3]
Custom loot curios
The option Curios.enableCustomCurios controls whether custom loot curios are enabled. In this pack it is set to true, so the custom loot curios are switched on.[3]
The sources here do not show a mod default for this option, so you can't tell from them whether the pack changed it. It is a startup config, so any change to it should be made before you launch the game.[3]
