What is Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.38 guide
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a decoration mod that gives you vanilla-styled light sources beyond the ones in the base game. Think of it as a lighting upgrade for your builds: it is all about making your world brighter and better looking.[1]
What it adds
- Tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps and paper lamps.[1]
- Wall lanterns, new torches, light slabs and lanterns.[1]
- Ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers.[1]
Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want, from a 1 block tall lamp up to a 54 block tall one. You can also turn any of these lights on and off with a right click.[1]
Who it is for
If you like to build, this mod is for you. It is a simple decoration mod, so it suits anyone who wants lighting that looks better than torches and lanterns alone, whether that is a lit street, a tiki-style patio or a chandelier over your dining room.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Macaw's Lights and Lamps 1.1.1, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, it is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Treat it as an optional building and decoration mod rather than a progression step. The sources do not confirm how its items are crafted in this pack, so check the recipe viewer in-game. This site does hold FTB Skies 2: Aero's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
5 parts
Macaw's Lights and Lamps adds new light sources: tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps, paper lamps, wall lanterns, ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers. Here is a sensible order to try them in, and every recipe block below is the exact one used in this pack.[1][3]
Start with a lantern
The Bell Lantern and the Chain Lantern are both simple crafts, so they make a good first step into the mod.[3]

From a lantern you can make its wall version with a shapeless recipe. The Bell Wall Lantern is crafted from the Bell Lantern, and the other lanterns have wall versions the same way.[3]

Tiki torches for outdoors
The Acacia Tiki Torch is a great outdoor light. Tiki torches come in several wood types, such as Birch Tiki Torch and Cherry Tiki Torch, plus a Bamboo Tiki Torch.[3][4]

Street lamp posts for paths
One craft of the Street Lamp Post gives you 3 posts, so you can light a whole path quickly.[3]

Coloured lamps and ceiling lights
Lamps and ceiling lights come in several colours, for example the Black Lamp, the Black Ceiling Light, the Blue Lamp, the Brown Ceiling Light and the Cyan Lamp. The recipes for the black lamp and the black ceiling light are shown below.[3]

Both the lamp and the ceiling light recipes make 6 per craft.
Paper lamps and copper decor
Coloured paper lamps, like the Red Paper Lamp, have their own shapeless recipe.[3]
For something fancier, the copper line includes the Copper Chain, the Copper Chandelier and the Copper Candle Holder.[3]

How does Macaw's Lights and Lamps work?
5 parts
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a very simple mod. It adds light sources such as tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps, paper lamps, wall lanterns, light slabs, ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers. The sources describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it, so the mechanics below are all about placing, toggling, stacking and crafting.[1]
Switching lights on and off
Everything in the mod can be turned off and on with a right click. Use it to dim a room or switch off a lamp you only want as decoration.[1]
Building tall
Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want. The mod page gives a 1 block tall lamp or a 54 block tall lamp as examples. In game, the tooltip on stackable lights says you build taller by placing another one on top of the first.[1][4]
Tiki torches have the same tooltip, so a Bamboo Tiki Torch or Birch Tiki Torch can be stacked into a tall pole the same way.[4]
Recoloring
Dyeable lights show a tooltip saying you can right-click with any dye to recolor them.[4]
Paper lamps also have crafting recipes for each color. You combine a White Paper Lamp with a dye, as in the Blue Paper Lamp recipe below.[3]
Crafting the main light types
Tiki torches are shaped recipes, with one per wood type or bamboo in the dump. Here is the bamboo one.[3]

Recipe id: mcwlights:bamboo_tiki_torch
Colored lamps and ceiling lights are shaped recipes that make 6 at a time. The Black Lamp is one example.[3]

Wall lanterns are shapeless recipes, and each one turns a matching lantern into its wall version. The plain Wall Lantern works like this.[3]
The same pattern covers the Bell Wall Lantern, Chain Wall Lantern, Covered Wall Lantern, Cross Wall Lantern and Festive Wall Lantern. Each is made from its matching lantern.[3]
A pack twist: the Wandering Trader
This pack uses a script to replace the Wandering Trader's trades when it spawns. One of the new trades takes a Bamboo Tiki Torch as payment and gives an iron stick from the construction stick mod. That trade can be used only once per trader.[5]
How do you progress through Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
4 parts
This mod has no real gate in the pack. Everything here is a crafting table recipe, and the dump shows 117 shaped recipes that turn vanilla materials into the mod's items, each with a different result. So "progression" just means which materials you have on hand. Here is how it breaks down.[3]
Tier 1: torches and tiki torches
The torch-style lights are the Framed Torch and the tiki torches. Tiki torches come in several woods, such as Acacia Tiki Torch, Birch Tiki Torch, Cherry Tiki Torch, Crimson Tiki Torch and Dark Oak Tiki Torch, plus the Bamboo Tiki Torch.[3]

Tier 2: lanterns, garden lights and fan lights
Next come the lanterns: Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern and Festive Lantern. You also get the Garden Light and Covered Garden Light, and the wood-specific ceiling fan lights such as Acacia Ceiling Fan Light.[3]
Every wall lantern is a shapeless craft: you combine the matching lantern with any wooden fence. That covers the Bell, Chain, Covered, Cross, Festive, Striped and Tavern wall lanterns, and the plain Wall Lantern, which starts from a vanilla lantern.[3]

Tier 3: colored lamps and street lamps
Colored lamps and ceiling lights, such as Black Lamp and Black Ceiling Light, make 6 per craft. The dump shows black, blue, brown, cyan, gray and green versions.[3]

Paper lamps are dyed copies of the White Paper Lamp. You combine the white lamp with a dye, and the dump shows black, blue, brown, cyan, gray, green, light blue, light gray, lime, magenta, orange, pink, purple, red and yellow versions.[3]
Outdoors, you get the Street Lamp Post and Double Street Lamp Post, plus the Glowstone Slab.[3]

Tier 4: metal candle holders, chains and chandeliers
The fanciest decor comes in metal sets. Copper and golden sets each have candle holders (single, double, triple, low and wall), a chandelier and a small chandelier, plus a chain: Copper Chain and Golden Chain. The single candle holders are Copper Candle Holder and Golden Candle Holder. Iron has an Iron Candle Holder and an Iron Chandelier.[3]

How does Macaw's Lights and Lamps work with other mods?
2 parts
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is mostly a decoration mod, but the pack ties it into other mods in two places: one crafting recipe and one wandering trader offer. No quests in this pack involve the mod.[3][5]
Functional Storage: Dripping Upgrade
The Lava Lamp is an ingredient in the Dripping Upgrade. The pack changed this recipe, so what you see here is the pack's version and not the mod's default.[3]

This is the pack's changed version of the Dripping Upgrade recipe, and it uses the Lava Lamp from this mod.
Wandering Trader
A pack script rewrites the wandering trader's offers whenever one spawns. It clears the normal list and puts one trade first: a bamboo tiki torch from this mod (mcwlights:bamboo_tiki_torch) for an iron stick from the Construction Stick mod (constructionstick:iron_stick). That trade can be used only once per trader.[5]
What changed in Macaw's Lights and Lamps between versions?
1 part
There's not a lot of release history for Macaw's Lights and Lamps in this pack, but here is what the sources confirm.[6]
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Macaw's Lights and Lamps 1.1.5. The mod was already in the pack by Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been part of Aero since very early on.[6]
Mod 1.1.5 changes
- Fixed: Wall Lanterns (and possibly other lights) should no longer be pathfindable.[7]
- Fixed: a minor texture bug on the Framed Torch.[7]
- Translations added: ko_kr, fr_fr, zh_cn and pt_br.[7]
- Translation updated: ru_ru.[7]
The sources include no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't tell you whether any earlier pack release changed its version or behavior.[6]
