What is Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.38 guide
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a decoration mod that gives you vanilla-styled light sources beyond the ones in the base game. Think of it as a lighting upgrade for your builds: it is all about making your world brighter and better looking.[1]
What it adds
- Tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps and paper lamps.[1]
- Wall lanterns, new torches, light slabs and lanterns.[1]
- Ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers.[1]
Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want, from a 1 block tall lamp up to a 54 block tall one. You can also turn any of these lights on and off with a right click.[1]
Who it is for
If you like to build, this mod is for you. It is a simple decoration mod, so it suits anyone who wants lighting that looks better than torches and lanterns alone, whether that is a lit street, a tiki-style patio or a chandelier over your dining room.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Macaw's Lights and Lamps 1.1.1, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, it is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Treat it as an optional building and decoration mod rather than a progression step. The sources do not confirm how its items are crafted in this pack, so check the recipe viewer in-game. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
6 parts
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a light-source mod: tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps, paper lamps, wall lanterns, light slabs, lanterns, ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers. You don't need a big setup to start, so here is a sensible order for your first crafts.[1]
Step one: make a lantern
Start with the Bell Lantern. The pack changes how it is crafted, and the Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern and Cross Lantern are changed too. The blocks below show the in-pack versions.[3]

Once you have a lantern, you can turn it into a wall version. The Bell Wall Lantern is a shapeless recipe built from the lantern you just made.[3]

Step two: add a tiki torch
Tiki torches come in several wood variants. The Bamboo Tiki Torch uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[3]

Recipe id: mcwlights:bamboo_tiki_torch
Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want. The mod's own example is a 54 block tall lamp.[1]
Step three: lamps and ceiling lights
For indoor lighting, start with the Black Lamp and its matching Black Ceiling Light. Blue, brown and cyan versions exist too, such as Blue Lamp and Cyan Ceiling Light.[3]

Then colour with paper lamps
Coloured paper lamps are made from the White Paper Lamp with a shapeless recipe and a dye, for example the Blue Paper Lamp.[3]
Step five: street lamp posts
When you want to light paths, the Street Lamp Post (shown in game as Street Lamp Post) makes 3 posts per craft.[3][4]

Step six: copper and gold decorations
The pack also changes the copper decoration recipes. That covers the Copper Chain and the Golden Chain, as well as the copper candle holders and chandeliers, such as the Copper Chandelier. The blocks below show the two chains.[3]

How does Macaw's Lights and Lamps work?
6 parts
This is a very simple mod that adds light sources, so its mechanics come down to a few block behaviours: toggling, recoloring and stacking.[1]
Toggling lights on and off
The mod page says everything can be turned off and on with a right click. That is handy for builds where you want some lights dark.[1]
Recoloring with dye
Some blocks carry an in-game tooltip that says "Right-click with any dye to recolor". The language file doesn't say which blocks have it, so check the tooltip on the block you're holding.[4]
Paper lamps work differently: each colored version has its own shapeless crafting recipe that uses the White Paper Lamp. Here is the black one as an example.[3]
Building tall
Lamps, street lamp posts, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want. The mod page gives a 1 block tall lamp or a 54 block tall lamp as examples.[1]
To extend one, place another on top of it. The mod has a tooltip saying exactly this for stackable lights and another for tiki torches, such as the Bamboo Tiki Torch.[4]
Wall variants
Lanterns have wall-mounted versions, like the Wall Lantern and Chain Wall Lantern. These are shapeless crafting recipes made from the matching regular lantern, as shown below.[3]

Recipes the pack changed
Several recipes differ from the mod's defaults in this pack. The recipe dump marks these as changed by the pack: the ceiling fan lights (Acacia, Birch and Cherry are listed), Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Copper Chain, Golden Chain and Copper Candle Holder. If your memory of the base mod disagrees with a recipe shown on this page, go with this page.[3]

A trade that uses a tiki torch
The pack's wandering trader script gives every wandering trader an offer that takes one Bamboo Tiki Torch and gives Iron Stick. That offer can be used once.[5]
How do you progress through Macaw's Lights and Lamps?
4 parts
This mod has no machines or gated steps. Every item in the recipe data is a crafting table recipe, so progression here just means which materials you need for each group of lights. The groups below are sorted by whether the pack left the recipe alone or changed it.[3]
Tier 1: plain mod recipes
The simplest lights are the tiki torches, such as the Acacia Tiki Torch and Bamboo Tiki Torch. They use the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: mcwlights:acacia_tiki_torch
This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.
The coloured wool lamps and ceiling lights, like the Blue Lamp and Blue Ceiling Light, are also untouched mod recipes. One craft makes 6 of them.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any wooden fence | Empty slot |
Recipe id: mcwlights:blue_lamp

The Street Lamp Post and Double Street Lamp Post are mod recipes too, and so is the Glowstone Slab.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any wooden fence |
Recipe id: mcwlights:classic_street_lamp
Mod recipe, and one craft gives you 3 posts.
Paper lamps in other colours, like the Red Paper Lamp, are made by combining a White Paper Lamp with a dye. That is a shapeless mod recipe.[3]
Tier 2: lanterns and garden lights (changed by the pack)
This is where the pack steps in. The Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern and Festive Lantern all use pack-changed recipes, not the mod defaults.[3]

The wall versions, like the Chain Wall Lantern and Bell Wall Lantern, are shapeless mod recipes built from the matching lantern plus a wooden fence. The plain Wall Lantern is built from a vanilla lantern instead.[3]
The Garden Light and Covered Garden Light also have pack-changed recipes. So do the ceiling fan lights shown in the recipe data, like the Birch Ceiling Fan Light, and the Framed Torch.[3]

Tier 3: copper and gold fittings (changed by the pack)
The fanciest pieces are the chains, candle holders and chandeliers in copper and gold. The recipes in the data for these are all pack-changed, including the Copper Chain, Golden Chain, Copper Candle Holder and Golden Candle Holder.[3]

A bonus use for the Bamboo Tiki Torch
The pack's Wandering Trader script adds one offer that costs a single Bamboo Tiki Torch. It gives you an Iron Stick, and the offer can only be used once.[5]
How does Macaw's Lights and Lamps work with other mods?
2 parts
Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a decoration mod, and the sources for this pack show it linking to other mods in two places: one crafting recipe and one Wandering Trader offer.[1][3][5]
Dripping Upgrade recipe
The Dripping Upgrade needs a Lava Lamp from this mod. It is a shaped recipe added by the pack's own scripts, so it is the pack's version of the recipe. Check the block below for the full ingredient list, which also includes items from other mods.[3]
Shaped (kubejs)

| any redstone dust | any redstone dust | |

Wandering Trader offer
A pack script clears the Wandering Trader's offers when it spawns and replaces them with its own list. The first offer in that list takes a Bamboo Tiki Torch and gives you a Iron Stick. The script limits this offer to 1 use per trader.[5]
