What is Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide
Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks is an RPG-inspired spellcasting mod. You fight dangerous wizards, raid structures, delve through dungeons, collect resources and hunt down powerful magical items. The pack ships version 1.21.1-3.16.3 of it.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack has a dedicated chapter for it, "Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks", in the "Magic Mods" group. It is chapter 18 of 31 in the book and holds 49 quests. The chapter opens with "Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks" quest, which comes after the quest "Proper Materials". You complete it by getting a Flimsy Journal or an Ironbound Tome. The quest also says you get a few starter spell scrolls.[3]
- "Inscribing Spells" quest comes right after the opener and asks for an Inscription Table.[3]
- Most of the chapter branches off that quest: "Casting Spells" quest, "Crafting Spells" quest, "Upgrading Spells & Equipment" quest and the individual spell book quests.[3]
- "Arcane Discoveries" quest comes after Casting Spells. It leads on to the ring and amulet quests, the armor quests and "A Magical Trip To The Nether" quest.[3]
- The legendary spell books, such as "The Ancient Codex" quest, come after the Ruined Book quest.[3]
Some quests in this chapter are not covered here, so check the quest book itself for them. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.[3]
How the mod's progression flows
Early on you explore and loot magic structures, find scrolls, and inscribe them into a spell book at the Inscription Table. Once you reach nether level resources, the Scroll Forge lets you craft scrolls from ink, paper and a focus. Late game is powered by the Arcane Anvil, which levels up scrolls, upgrades armor and spell books, and imbues weapons with spells.[4][5][6]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide
Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks has its own chapter in the quest book, plus a handful of quests scattered through three other chapters. The main chapter sits in the Magic Mods group, as chapter 18 of 31, and holds 49 quests.[3]
The main chapter, in order
- "Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks" quest is the entry point and comes after the quest "Proper Materials". It asks for either a Flimsy Journal or an Ironbound Tome. The quest text says you will get a few starter Spell Scrolls, which you can cast as single-use items or place in a Spell Book.[3]
- "Inscribing Spells" quest asks for an Inscription Table. You use it to inscribe scrolls into your tome, and the text warns that the starter book only holds 5 or 6 spells.[3]
- Most of the rest of the chapter opens up after Inscribing Spells. "Crafting Spells" quest asks for any ink plus a Scroll Forge. "Upgrading Spells & Equipment" quest asks for the Arcane Anvil. "Casting Spells" quest is a checkmark that explains the controls: the scroll wheel opens with R by default and V casts the selected spell.[3]
- The spell book quests also follow Inscribing Spells: "Starter Spellbooks" quest, "Apprentice's Spell Book" quest, "Enchanted Spell Book" quest, "Grimoire of Evokation" quest, "Necronomicon" quest, "Villager Bible" quest, "Rotten Spell Book" quest, "Blaze Instruction Manual" quest and "Ruined Book" quest. The book tags them as craftable, mob loot or trade.[3]
- The Ruined Book quest leads to the legendary books: "The Dragonskin Spell Book" quest, "The Vampiric Spellbook" quest and "The Ancient Codex" quest. The Rotten Spell Book quest leads to "Druidic Tome" quest. The Ruined Book text says that in the void you get it as a reward from two Gate Pearls.[3]
- "Arcane Discoveries" quest comes after Casting Spells. It asks for Arcane Essence, a Blank Runestone and Raw Mithril. The text says Mithril can't be obtained through usual methods in the void and hints that some sort of gate could provide it.[3]
After Arcane Discoveries
Arcane Discoveries branches into three groups. The first is a run of accessory quests. The second is "A Magical Trip To The Nether" quest, which asks for Cinder Essence and Hogskin. The third is "Making The Good Stuff" quest, which asks for Arcane Cloth.[3]
- Accessories: "Ring of Mana" quest (listed as +100 Max Mana), "Ring of Expediency" quest (+15% Cast Time Reduction), "Ring of Recovery" quest (+15% Cooldown Reduction), "Amethyst Resonance Charm" quest (+15% Mana Regeneration), "Amulet of Concentration" quest, "Heavy Chain" quest (+15% Spell Resistance), "Conjurer's Talisman" quest (+10% Summon Damage), "Emerald Stoneplate Ring" quest (25% more experience from creatures), "Ring of Expulsion" quest, "Frostward Ring" quest, "Poisonward Ring" quest and "Fireward Ring" quest.[3]
- "The Wandering Magician Armor Set" quest is the early game armor and also follows Arcane Discoveries.[3]
- After the Nether trip: "Spell Slot Improvements" quest (the text says spell slots can reach a max of 12 through the Arcane Anvil), "The Alchemist Cauldron" quest and "Upgrade Orbs" quest (up to 3 Orbs per equipment piece).[3]
- After Making The Good Stuff come the armor sets: "Cultist Set" quest, "Plagued Set" quest, "Electromancer Set" quest, "Scarecrow Set" quest, "Netherite Battlemage Set" quest, "Cryomancer Set" quest, "Shadow-Walker Set" quest, "Pyromancer Set" quest, "Priest Set" quest and "Archevoker Set" quest.[3]
- The chapter finishes with two quests that hang off the armor sets: "Lightbringer Chestplate" quest after the Priest Set, and "Boots of Speed" quest after the Archevoker Set.[3]
Quests in other chapters
The Gearing Up chapter (group Exploration & Combat, chapter 14 of 31) has several staff quests. "Artificer's Cane" quest follows Inscribing Spells, and the text calls the Artificer's Cane a craftable staff with several buffs. "Graybeard Staff" quest and "Spellbreaker" quest follow Arcane Discoveries. The Graybeard text says staffs cast spells with right-click instead of a hotkey. "Ice Staff" quest, "Rod 'o Lightning" quest and "The Blood Staff" quest ask for the Ice Staff, the Rod o' Lightning and The Blood Staff with no prerequisite shown.[7]
In Useful Items & Tips, "Air Dash" quest asks for a Scroll and comes after Proper Materials. It suggests stacks of Burning Dash Scrolls to help you explore the void.[8]
The Bounty Board chapter (group Exploration & Combat, chapter 11 of 31) is made of repeatable quests that pay out cash for the shops. One of them, "Defeat the Echo of Flame" quest, asks for a Cinderous Soulcaller plus a kill and a structure. The text says you use it near the Cinderous Soul Rune in a Nether arena to challenge the Echo of Flame. The chapter has 59 quests and the rest are in the quest book, so check there for any others tied to this mod.[9]
