What is Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?
1 part
Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry is all about modular jewelcrafting. You build jewelry out of patterns and materials, with 10,000+ possible combinations and 7 new gemstone items to find. This pack uses version 1.21.1-2.0.2 of the mod.[1][2]
You craft jewelry from a pattern at the Jewelcrafting Station. Some patterns are known from the start, while others are unlocked by looting or trading for Artisan Scrolls. Each pattern gives a type of bonus, such as bonus attributes. The material you use decides the specific bonus, and the quality of that material decides how strong it is.[1]
The mod also adds a Jeweler villager profession. Jewelers work at a Jewelcrafting Station, buy and sell materials, sell finished jewelry, and sell the secrets of more advanced patterns.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book puts the mod in the "Gearing Up" chapter, in the "Exploration & Combat" group. It is chapter 14 of 31 in the book, and it has 94 quests. The chapter intro, "Gearing Up For Adventure!" quest, says the chapter teaches you different ways to craft, enhance and enchant gear for your adventures. Jewelry is one of those ways, alongside quests for other mods such as Apotheosis enchanting, Productive Metalworks and Cognition.[3]
The mod's own quests start with "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest and branch from there:[3]
- "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest asks you to get a Jewelcrafting Station. Its text says the station lets you make basic jewelry, but you need to buy more advanced blueprints from the Shop.[3]
- "Banding Materials" quest comes after the welcome quest. It explains that banding materials can grant effects or stat increases on their own, but their main job is multiplying gem effects with their quality multiplier.[3]
- "Gems" quest also comes after the welcome quest. It explains that gems are the part of most jewelry that grants effects or attributes, and that different pieces are affected by gems in different ways.[3]
Both follow-up quests say most vanilla gems work, and you can search #jewelry_band or #jewelry_gem in JEI for the full lists.[3]
The rest of the chapter's quests are in the quest book itself.[3]
How do you get started with Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?
4 parts
Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry is about building modular jewelry out of patterns and materials. In this pack the quest book starts it for you in the "Gearing Up" chapter (group "Exploration & Combat", chapter 14 of 31), with a quest called "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest. Here is the order I'd go in.[1][3]
Step 1: Make the Jewelcrafting Station
Everything starts at the Jewelcrafting Station. The quest asks you to craft one, and the mod says jewelry is made from a pattern at this block. Some patterns are known from the start, so you can make basic pieces right away. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so use this one:[1][3][4]

Step 2: Grab the guide
The mod has a guide item, Jewelcrafting and You, described as a guide to Gems 'n Jewelry. The pack changed its recipe too. The quest also tells you to check the jewelry guide for a full list of compatible items.[3][4][5]
Crafting Shapeless

There is also a mod recipe that turns a guide plus a book into extra copies, handy if you want a spare.[4]

Step 3: Round up gems and banding materials
Gems are the part of most jewelry that grants effects or attributes, and different pieces react to them differently, so check each piece before you craft. The quests "Gems" quest and "Banding Materials" quest both say most vanilla gems work, and you can search #jewelry_gem or #jewelry_band in JEI for the full lists. Banding materials can grant effects on their own, but their main job is multiplying gem effects with their quality multiplier.[3]
If you want Topaz, the pack adds recipes that cook a Topaz shard from GeOre into one Topaz, in either a furnace or a blast furnace. A Topaz block gives 4 Topaz the same way.[4]
The pack also has a blasting version of this shard recipe.
The pack also has a blasting version of this block recipe.
Step 4: Unlock more patterns
For anything beyond the basics you need more patterns. The "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest quest says more advanced blueprints are bought from the Shop. "Artisan Scrolls" quest adds that Artisan Scrolls can be found as loot or bought from shops, and you learn a blueprint by right-clicking with the scroll in hand. Two special scrolls teach Duality jewelry, which takes attributes from both the metal and the gem and has higher quality overall.[3]
Villagers can help too. The mod adds a Jeweler profession that sells patterns, and the Haggler Ring pattern, for example, can be traded for from Jewelers. The Piglin Signet Ring pattern is found in Nether Fortresses and Bastions.[1][5]
The pack's server config has Worldgen.enableDynamicJewelryLoot set to true, so jewelry items can show up in loot tables that contain gems and equipment. Worldgen.jewelerHouseWeight is set to 2, which is the weight of the Jeweler's House in village generation.[6]
The "Gearing Up" chapter has 94 quests, and 20 of them are not covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3]
How does Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry work?
6 parts
Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry is a crafting mod, not a machine mod. It has no power, fluids or multiblocks. Everything happens at one block, the Jewelcrafting Station, and the interesting part is how patterns and materials combine.[1][5]
The Jewelcrafting Station
You craft jewelry from a pattern at the Jewelcrafting Station. Some patterns you know from the start, and others have to be unlocked by looting or trading for Artisan Scrolls. In this pack the station's recipe is changed from the mod's own, so use the one below.[1][4][5]

Patterns and materials
Each pattern gives a type of bonus, such as bonus attributes. The materials you put in decide the specific bonus, and the quality of those materials decides how strong it is. Mixing patterns and materials is how you get the mod's 10,000+ modular combinations.[1]
One part of each piece is the primary part. It sets the quality of the whole piece, and the potency of all bonuses is scaled by that material's quality value. So pick your primary material first.[5]
The bonus types the mod's text mentions include these:[5]
- Immunity to a chosen effect.[5]
- Gaining an effect for a number of seconds when you are hit.[5]
- An effect when one of your projectiles hits.[5]
- Making Piglins neutral.[5]
- A discount on items when trading.[5]
Tooltips show an Applicable Materials list and a Bonuses when Crafted header, so you can check what a part will do before you commit gems to it.[5]
Learning patterns
Artisan Scrolls teach patterns. If you already know one, the tooltip tells you it is already learned. A locked pattern's description says it needs finding a scroll to learn, while an unlocked one can be crafted right away at the station.[5]
Where a pattern comes from varies. Most are found or traded for throughout the world. The haggler ring pattern is traded for from Jewelers, and the piglin signet ring pattern is found in Nether Fortresses and Bastions.[5]
The guide book
Jewelcrafting and You (Jewelcrafting and You) is the mod's in-game guide. Select a part in it for more info on that part. The pack changes its recipe from the mod's own.[4][5]

You can also copy a guide, using the mod's own recipe.[4]

Jewelers, loot and trades
Villagers with the Jeweler profession work at a Jewelcrafting Station. They buy and sell materials, sell finished jewelry, and sell more advanced patterns.[1][5]
The pack sets Worldgen.jewelerHouseWeight to 2, which is also the mod's default, so the Jeweler's House appears in village generation at the usual weight. Worldgen.enableDynamicJewelryLoot is true, which is also the default. With it on, jewelry items can be inserted into loot tables that contain gems and equipment.[6]
A pack trade script also lists a trade that takes a diamond and gives Moonstone, with weight 1 among the entries in that table. The script does not say who offers the trade here.[7]
Getting Topaz in this pack
The pack adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn a Topaz GeOre Shard into one Topaz. A Block Of Topaz GeOre gives 4 Topaz.[4]
Unverified Whether the Jewelcrafting Station can be automated with hoppers or pipes is not confirmed by the available sources.
How do you progress through Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?
3 parts
In this pack, Iron's Gems & Jewelry progression is one short branch of quests in the "Gearing Up" chapter. That chapter sits in the "Exploration & Combat" group as chapter 14 of 31 in the quest book. The branch starts with a Jewelcrafting Station and fans out into four follow-up quests.[3]
Step 1: the Jewelcrafting Station
The entry point is the quest "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest, which asks you to get a Jewelcrafting Station. The quest says the station lets you begin making basic Jewelry items, while the more advanced blueprints have to be bought from the Shop.[3]
The pack changed the station's recipe from the mod's own, so use the recipe below rather than anything you remember from the base mod.[4]

This one is the mod's own recipe, unchanged.
Step 2: the quests that follow
Four quests unlock right after the welcome quest. Three are checkmark quests that explain how the crafting pieces fit together, and the fourth is the Rune ring quest.[3]
- "Gems" quest: Gems are the part of most Jewelry that grants effects or attributes. Each piece of Jewelry reacts to Gems differently, so check a piece before you craft it. Most vanilla gems work, and you can search #jewelry_gem in JEI for the full list.[3]
- "Banding Materials" quest: Banding Materials can grant effects or stat increases on their own, but their main use is multiplying Gem effects with their quality multiplier. Search #jewelry_band in JEI for the list.[3]
- "Artisan Scrolls" quest: Artisan Scrolls can be found as loot or bought from Shops. Right-click one to learn a Jewel blueprint. Two special scrolls teach Duality jewelry, which takes attributes from both the Metal and the Gem and has a higher quality overall.[3]
- "Inscribing Runes" quest: The Rune Inscribed Ring pattern lets you inscribe Runes from the Iron's Spells mod onto a ring, which empowers it with different powers. The quest suggests you experiment.[3]
Getting Topaz in this pack
The pack adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn a Topaz GeOre shard into one Topaz. A whole Topaz GeOre block gives 4 Topaz the same way. Both furnace types work for each.[4]
Added by the pack. A blasting version also exists.
Added by the pack. A blasting version also exists.
The pack's after_diamond trade script also has an entry that pairs a diamond with Moonstone.[7]
How does Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry work with other mods?
3 parts
The clearest link in this pack is between Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry and GeOre. The pack adds its own recipes that turn GeOre topaz into the jewelry mod's Topaz gem.[4]
Topaz from GeOre
A Topaz GeOre Shard cooks into one Topaz. You can use either a furnace or a blast furnace, and both recipes were added by the pack.[4]
Furnace version: one shard gives one Topaz.
Blast furnace version: one shard gives one Topaz.
A whole Block Of Topaz GeOre gives you 4 Topaz when cooked, again in either a furnace or a blast furnace. Both recipes were added by the pack.[4]
Furnace version: one block gives 4 Topaz.
Blast furnace version: one block gives 4 Topaz.
Moonstone through a trade
The pack's own trade script for the after_diamond list includes an entry where Diamond is the item bought and Moonstone is the item sold. It is one of six entries in that list, and it has a weight of 1, while another entry in the same list has a weight of 6, so it is not the most common option.[7]
In the quest book
The quest "Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest sits in the "Gearing Up" chapter, in the "Exploration & Combat" group (chapter 14 of 31 in the book). It asks you to get a Jewelcrafting Station. The quest text says you need the station to start making basic jewelry, and that more advanced blueprints have to be bought from the Shop.[3]
The rest of that chapter is about gear from other mods and ways to enhance or enchant it. 53 of its 94 quests have text that is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book for anything else it says about jewelry.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry?
2 parts
All of the quests for this mod sit in one place: the "Gearing Up" chapter, in the "Exploration & Combat" group (chapter 14 of 31 in the quest book). The chapter's intro quest, "Gearing Up For Adventure!" quest, says the chapter is about different ways to craft, enhance and enchant the gear you'll need on your adventures. The jewelry quests are a small branch of it, with one starter quest and four follow-ups.[3]
Starting quest
"Welcome to Iron's Gems & Jewelry!" quest asks you to get a Jewelcrafting Station. The quest text says the mod is about combining materials and Jewels to give you special effects or stat increases. The station lets you start making basic Jewelry, but you'll need to buy the more advanced blueprints from the Shop. This quest has no prerequisite in the book, so it's where you begin.[3]
Follow-up quests
Four quests unlock after the welcome quest. The book lists each as following the welcome quest directly, so they aren't chained to each other.[3]
- "Banding Materials" quest is a checkmark quest. Banding materials can be used on their own to grant effects or stat increases, but their main job is multiplying Gem effects with their quality multiplier. Most vanilla gems work, and you can search #jewelry_band in JEI for the full list.[3]
- "Gems" quest is a checkmark quest. Gems are the part of most Jewelry that grants effects or attributes, and different pieces of Jewelry are affected by Gems in different ways, so check each piece before crafting. Search #jewelry_gem in JEI for a list. This is a different quest from the Apotheosis one that is also called Gems.[3]
- "Artisan Scrolls" quest is a checkmark quest. Artisan Scrolls can be found as loot or bought from Shops, and you right-click one to learn a Jewel blueprint. Two special scrolls teach you Duality jewelry, which takes attributes from both the Metal and the Gem and has a higher quality overall.[3]
- "Inscribing Runes" quest covers the Rune Inscribed Ring pattern, which lets you inscribe Runes from the Iron's Spells mod to give the ring different powers. The book encourages you to experiment.[3]
Which Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry config options matter?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: Iron's Gems 'n Jewelry only has two server-side options worth knowing about in this pack, and both sit at the mod's defaults. The pack hasn't changed either one, so you get the standard behavior from the mod.[8]
Server config: Worldgen
- Worldgen.enableDynamicJewelryLoot is set to true, which matches the default. When it's on, jewelry items are inserted dynamically into loot tables based on what those tables already contain. For example, loot tables with gems and equipment can automatically generate jewelry items.[8]
- Worldgen.jewelerHouseWeight is set to 2, which also matches the default. This is the weight of the Jeweler's House in village generation.[8]
Unverified How the Jeweler's House weight of 2 compares with other village buildings, and how often you'll actually find one in a village, isn't confirmed by the available sources.
