What is Ender Storage?

1 part

Ender Storage lets you store items in the End, so your stuff is everywhere and nowhere at once. Everything is linked by color codes: any Ender Storage with the same color code shares the same inventory, even across dimensions. There are three types: the Ender Chest, the Ender Pouch and the Ender Tank.[1][2]

The Ender Chest is the stationary one, and you change its color code by using dye on the wool pads on top. The Ender Pouch is the portable one: right-click it on any Ender Chest and it takes on that chest's color code, so you can reach your base storage straight from your inventory. The Ender Tank works on the same principle as the chest but stores liquids.[1][2]

Tip: Using a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest moves it to a separate network for the player who used the diamond. Each player then has access to all 4,096 frequencies without conflicts, which is especially good on a server.[1][2]

This pack includes Ender Storage 2.13.0.191.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest book covers it in a quest called "Ender Storage" quest. It lives in the "General Storage" chapter, which is chapter 7 of 31 in the book and belongs to the "Resources & Logistics" group. The quest asks you to obtain the Ender Chest, Ender Tank and Ender Pouch. The chapter also has an overview quest, "General Storage Options" quest, which says the chapter covers most of the basic ways to store your items.[2]

In the quests I can show you, the Ender Storage quest lists no prerequisite quest. The chapter has 146 quests and the text of most of them is not included here, so check the quest book itself to see what sits around it.[2]

How do you get started with Ender Storage?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ender Storage links storage together by color. Anything with the same color code shares one inventory, even across dimensions. There are three pieces of gear: the Ender Chest, the Ender Pouch and the Ender Tank. Here is the order I would make them in.[1][4]

Start with the Ender Chest

The Ender Chest is the stationary piece, and the pouch builds on it. It works like any other chest for blocks that manipulate chest contents, so it is a great way to move items over huge distances instantly.[1]

Set your color code

Once a chest is placed, you can use dye on the wool pads on top of it to change its color code. Put a second chest somewhere else with the same colors and you have a shared inventory.[1]

You can also change the color code by crafting an Ender Chest together with three dyes. The pack has a dedicated recolour recipe for this.[1][4]

Tip: Pick a color combination you will not forget, because every chest with matching colors shares the same inventory.[1]

    Make an Ender Pouch

The Ender Pouch is the mobile version, so you can reach your base's stuff straight from your inventory. Use the pouch on an Ender Chest and it takes on that chest's color code, then it accesses the same inventory.[1][4]

        Playing on a server

If you share a world with others, use a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest. That moves it to a separate network just for you, so you get access to all 4096 frequencies without conflicting with other players in multiplayer.[1]

        How does Ender Storage work?

        4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ender Storage works on one idea: color codes. Every piece of Ender Storage that has the same color code shares the same inventory, even across dimensions. That is how you can drop items into a chest at one place and pull them out somewhere else instantly.[1]

Currently there are three kinds of storage: the Ender Chest, the Ender Pouch and the Ender Tank. All three are covered below.[1][4]

        Ender Chest (stationary storage)

The Ender Chest is the stationary option. To change its color code, use dye on the wool pads on top of the chest. You can also craft the chest together with three dyes to change the code.[1]

For blocks that manipulate chest contents, an Ender Chest behaves like any other chest. That makes it a quick way to move items over huge distances.[1]

          Ender Pouch (portable access)

The Ender Pouch is the mobile version. Use it on any Ender Chest and the pouch takes on that chest's color code. After that it opens the same inventory as the matching chest, so you can reach your base resources right from your inventory.[1][4]

            Ender Tank (shared fluids)

              Personal networks on servers

If you play on a multiplayer server, use a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest. This moves that chest to a separate network that belongs to the player who used the diamond. Each player then has access to all 4096 frequencies without conflicting with anyone else.[1]

Tip: Matching color codes work across dimensions. A chest in your base and a pouch in your pack can share an inventory even when you are in a different dimension.[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show the Ender Tank's fluid capacity, transfer speeds, or how it works with pipes, hoppers and other automation. The pack has no config files for this mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found, so those details are not documented here.

How do you progress through Ender Storage?

              4 parts

Ender Storage doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. The quest book gives it one quest, "Ender Storage" quest, and that single quest covers all three items: the Ender Chest, the Ender Tank and the Ender Pouch.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest lives in the General Storage chapter, which is chapter 7 of 31 in the Resources & Logistics group and has 146 quests. The chapter opens by saying it covers most of the basic ways to store your items. The Ender Storage quest is listed with no quest before it, and its tasks are to obtain the Ender Chest, the Ender Tank and the Ender Pouch.[2]

The quest text says Ender Storage allows cross-dimensional storage of items and fluids. Some of the chapter's quest text wasn't available to me, so I can't say what the unlisted quests add beyond that.[2]

The three items and how they fit together

Ender Chests link their inventories to other chests with a matching color pattern. You can use any colored dye on the wool pads to change the color.[2]

The Ender Pouch gives you remote access to an Ender Chest of the same color pattern. Right-click the pouch on any Ender Chest and it changes to match that chest's color.[2]

Ender Tanks work the same way as Ender Chests, but they store liquids instead of items.[2]

Tip: Using a Diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest moves it to a separate private network for the player who used the diamond. The quest says this is especially good on servers.[2]

              Crafting each item

Here are the in-pack recipes for all three items, as the site renders them.[5]

                    What to do next

If you like the idea of cross-dimension storage, the same chapter has "Ender Drawers" quest. The quest text compares them to Ender Chests, and they come after "Linking Drawers" quest in the book.[2]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Ender Storage?

                    2 parts

Ender Storage has one quest of its own, and it sits in the "General Storage" chapter. That chapter is in the "Resources & Logistics" group and is chapter 7 of 31 in the quest book. It opens with "General Storage Options" quest, a simple checkmark quest that says the chapter covers most of the basic ways to store your items.[2]

                    The Ender Storage quest

"Ender Storage" quest asks you to hand in three items: an Ender Chest, an Ender Tank and an Ender Pouch. The quest text describes Ender Storage as cross-dimensional storage for items and fluids.[2]

The quest text also explains how the three items work:[2]

                    • Ender Chests link their inventories to other chests with a matching color pattern. You change the colors by using any colored dye on the wool pads.[2]
                    • The Ender Pouch gives you remote access to an Ender Chest of the same color pattern. Right-click the pouch on any Ender Chest and the pouch changes to that chest's color.[2]
                    • The Ender Tank works the same way as the chest, but it stores liquids instead of items.[2]
Tip: Using a Diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest moves it to a separate private network for the player who used the diamond. The quest says this is especially good for server use.[2]

"Ender Drawers" quest is not about this mod, but it compares itself to it: Ender Drawers from Functional Storage store items you can reach across dimensions, "just like Ender Chests". It comes after "Linking Drawers" quest, and you link two Ender Drawers together with the Linking Tool.[2]

The "General Storage" chapter has 146 quests, and the text of 13 of them isn't available to me here. If you're looking for another Ender Storage quest, check the quest book itself.[2]

Which Ender Storage config options matter?

                    3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Ender Storage keeps its settings in one file, and there are only a handful of options. Here is exactly how this pack has them set.[6]

                    Chest size

item_storage_size controls the size of each Ender Storage inventory: 0 is 3x3, 1 is 3x9 and 2 is 6x9. This pack sets it to 1, so every inventory is 3x9. That matches the default the config file lists, so the pack has not changed it.[6]

                    Locking chests and tanks

personalItem sets which item locks Ender Chests and Tanks, and this pack uses Diamond. Using a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest moves it to a separate network for the player who used it. That way each player gets all 4096 frequencies without conflicting with others on a server.[1][6]

anarchyMode is set to false in this pack. If it is turned on, chests lose their personal settings and drop the diamond when broken.[6]

                    Looks and sounds

                    • disableCreatorVisuals is false in this pack. If you turn it on, it disables the tank on top of creators' heads.[6]
                    • useVanillaEnderChestsSounds is false in this pack, so Ender Storage uses the standard chest sounds. Enable it if you want vanilla Ender Chest sounds instead.[6]

What changed in Ender Storage between versions?

                    1 part

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships with Ender Storage version 2.13.0.191. It has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been there from the start of the releases covered here.[3]

                    Mod changelog

                    • 2.13.0.191 (the version in this pack): fixes a tank synchronization crash.[3][7]

Unverified The pack changelogs available here have no entries for Ender Storage, so the sources do not show whether any pack release changed this mod's behavior, values or recipes.
