What is Extended Industrialization?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources on top of what you already build with that mod, so it's aimed at you if you're already working with Modern Industrialization and want more to play with.[1][2]
Its goal is to cover more ground while staying true to Modern Industrialization's design. The batching multiblocks are the example the in-game guide gives: they let you scale factories further, with fewer machines to configure and less performance cost.[2]
The pack ships version 1.16.2-1.21.1 of the mod.[3]
What you get
- Machines: Alloy Smelter, Bending Machine, Brewery, Canning Machine, Composter, Farmer, Honey Extractor, Large Furnace, Large Macerator, Machine Chainer, Processing Array, Universal Transformer, Waste Collector and Wireless Charging Station.[1]
- Generators: the Solar Boiler and the Solar Panel.[1]
- Tools and equipment: Canned Food, Machine Config Card, Steam Chainsaw, Electric Drill and Chainsaw, Ultimate Laser Drill and Nano Suit.[1]
- Resources: Mulch, Manure, Composted Manure, NPK Fertilizer, Honey (fluid) and Crystallized Honey.[1]
Highlights
- Batching multiblocks: the Large Furnace, Large Macerator and Processing Array can run several inputs at once, and the EU/t they use scales with the number of batches currently running.[4]
- Machine Chainer: links machines, barrels and other inventories in a straight line up to 64 blocks into one shared inventory, and it handles items, fluids and energy.[5]
- Farmer: tills, hydrates, plants, fertilizes and harvests for you. The steam version needs 32 EU/t and the electric version needs 64 EU/t.[6]
- Solar power: Solar Boilers burn no fuel but need direct sunlight and produce half the energy of a standard boiler of their type.[7]
- Electric Beacon: consumes potions and gives the effect to nearby players at 256 EU/t per effect.[8]
- Tesla: coils, towers and receivers move EU wirelessly, at a cost.[9]
Unverified Where this mod fits in the pack's progression can't be confirmed from the available sources, so plan your Extended Industrialization builds around your own Modern Industrialization progress.
How do you get started with Extended Industrialization?
5 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds more machines and tools while staying true to how Modern Industrialization is designed, so you build on what you already know from that mod. Here is the order I'd start in for this pack.[10]
Step 1: free steam with a Bronze Solar Boiler
Your first goal is the Bronze Solar Boiler. It works like a normal bronze boiler but burns no fuel. In exchange it needs direct sunlight above it, still needs water, and makes half as much energy as a standard boiler of its type.[11][12]
The pack changed this recipe, so follow the block below rather than the mod's default. There is a crafting version and an assembler version, and both are changed by the pack.[12]

Step 2: the Bending Machine and silver curved plates
Next, get a Bronze Bending Machine. The pack changed the Silver Curved Plate recipe that runs in it, and it also added silver curved plate recipes for Create pressing and the Ars press. You can make the plate in whichever of these machines you reach first.[12]
Bending Machine (extended_industrialization)
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:materials/silver/bending_machine/curved_plate
Once you have the materials, upgrade the bending machine to the Steel Bending Machine. A packer recipe for the same upgrade exists too, and an unpacker recipe gives you the bronze machine back.[12]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/craft/upgrade_steel
Step 3: Steel Plated Bricks
Steel Plated Bricks are a block you will meet again. They are an ingredient in several of the mod's assembler recipes, and the pack changed their crafting recipe.[12]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:casing/craft/steel_plated_bricks
Step 4: the Electric Brewery
The Electric Brewery works like a normal machine but runs brewing stand recipes. It uses Blazing Essence instead of blaze powder and spends exactly 1mb each time it brews. It also brews exactly 4 potions at a time, where a brewing stand does 1 to 3.[12][13]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/brewery/craft/electric
Potions are worth stockpiling because the Electric Beacon consumes them. It costs 256 EU/t per effect, so you will want to automate the brewing. The pack changed the beacon's assembler recipe too.[12][14]
Scaling up later
When you want to process more at once, look at the batching multiblocks. They run a normal recipe on several inputs at once and multiply the EU/t by the number of batches running. In this pack the batch sizes are 8 for the Large Steam Macerator and 16 for the Large Electric Macerator, both the mod's defaults. They are set in batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size and batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size.[15][16]
How does Extended Industrialization work?
7 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It extends the base mod with more machines while keeping its design, and its batching multiblocks let you scale a factory further with fewer machines to configure and less strain on performance.[10]
Batching multiblocks
A batching multiblock works like a normal machine of its type, but it can process several inputs at once. If a machine can run a recipe type in batches of Y, it can consume anywhere from 1 to Y times as many inputs and then produce results to match its batch size. The EU/t it uses is multiplied by the number of batches it is running right now. Like any other machine, it still cannot run more than one recipe at a time.[15]
The batch size differs per machine, and the item tooltip shows the exact value. These are the values this pack uses, and all of them match the mod defaults:[15][16]
- Large Steam Furnace: batches of 8 (batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_size), with an EU cost multiplier of 0.75 (batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_eu).[16]
- Large Steam Macerator: batches of 8 (batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size), with an EU cost multiplier of 0.75 (batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_eu).[16]
- Large Electric Macerator: batches of 16 (batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size), with an EU cost multiplier of 0.75 (batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_eu).[16]
- Processing Array: an EU cost multiplier of 1 (batching_machines.processing_array_eu).[16]
The Large Electric Furnace works a little differently. Its batch size comes from the coils you build it with, much like the Electric Blast Furnace, and each coil's tooltip tells you the batch size it gives.[15]
The Processing Array runs batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you put into its interface. Its batch size is limited by its size and by how many machines you placed inside. The size tiers are 8, 16, 32 and 64, and this pack allows all the way up to the 64 tier (processing_array_max_size). Upgrades are allowed inside the Processing Array in this pack (allow_upgrades_in_processing_array).[15][16]
Machine Chainer
The Machine Chainer links machines, barrels and any inventory block with the machine_chainer/linkable tag in a straight line, up to 64 blocks away. All the connected inventories are combined into one shared inventory at the chainer, and you can face the chainer in any direction, including up and down. It handles items, fluids and energy.[17]
Energy is the limited part. Transfer is capped at 3 times the rate of a single cable of the chainer's tier, and it cannot touch the energy of linked machines that do not match its voltage. This pack keeps the defaults: 64 connections (machine_chainer_max_connections) and a transfer multiplier of 3 (machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier). Setting that multiplier to 0 would make transfer infinite.[16][17]
The Machine Chainer Relay can be linked by a chainer but has no inventory. Use it as filler so you do not have to put a real machine in every gap of a chained line.[17]
Brewery
The brewery runs brewing stand recipes like a normal machine, with a couple of differences. It uses Blazing Essence instead of blaze powder, consuming exactly 1mb each time it brews a set of potions. It also brews exactly 4 potions at a time, where a brewing stand does 1 to 3.[13]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/brewery/craft/electric
This is the in-pack crafting recipe for the Electric Brewery.
Electric Beacon
The Electric Beacon consumes potions and gives the effect to all nearby players for 256 EU/t per effect. A potion lasts half as long as its shortest effect. An 8 minute speed potion gives 4 minutes of the effect at 256 EU/t. A 40 second turtle master potion lasts 20 seconds and costs 512 EU/t, because it has two effects (slowness and resistance).[14]
Its range depends on how many layers sit beneath it, not counting the steel casing:[14]
Farmer
The farmer does not run recipes. It tills and hydrates soil, plants, fertilizes and harvests crops, plants and trees. You do not need every task, and sometimes you should avoid some: with trees, for example, you do not want it tilling or hydrating soil. It needs energy to work: the steam farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam and the electric farmer needs 64 EU/t.[18]
- Tilling: if enabled in the multiblock shape settings, the dirt in the multiblock turns into farmland as if you used a hoe. Any block with the extended_industrialization:farmer_dirt tag can replace the dirt.[18]
- Hydrating: give it water through an input hatch and it keeps all farmland hydrated without nearby water.[18]
- Planting: it plants items from an input hatch on suitable blocks in its area, but only items with the extended_industrialization:farmer_plantable tag.[18]
- Fertilizing: only the electric farmer does this. With an accepted fluid fertilizer (check EMI) in an input hatch, it applies a bonemeal-like effect, even to plants that normally cannot be bonemealed, such as cactus and sugar cane. This pack allows up to 80 random ticks on a crop per use of fertilizer (farmer_fertilizer_max_random_ticks).[16][18]
- Harvesting: fully matured plants, and saplings that have grown into trees, are broken and stored when an output hatch has room. Items with the extended_industrialization:farmer_voidable tag have low storage priority and are discarded if there is no space.[18]
Tesla network
Tesla coils and receivers move EU wirelessly, at a cost. A network has exactly one transmitter (a Tesla Coil or Tesla Tower) and no intrinsic limit on Tesla Receiver blocks. Each transmitter has its own range and passive drain. This pack sets the Tesla Coil range to 32 (tesla_coil_range), and the Lethal Tesla Coil damages entities within a range of 2 (lethal_tesla_coil.range).[16][19]
To link a receiver, use the Tesla Calibrator on the transmitter with the key combination shown in game, then use it on each receiver you want to connect.[19]
A transmitter can only send to a receiver of the exact same voltage. A Tesla Coil with an Advanced Machine Hull cannot feed a receiver with no hull, but it can feed one that also has an Advanced Machine Hull. A Tesla Coil's passive EU/t drain depends on its hull voltage. A Tesla Tower's voltage comes from its energy input hatches, and its drain, transfer limit and range come from its windings, which are described in the winding tooltips.[19]
A Tesla Receiver stores the energy it gets and ejects it from its output face, and cables can also pull energy from it. The Tesla Receiver Hatch receives the same way but acts as an energy input hatch for a multiblock, so you do not need a receiver plus a separate hatch.[19]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/ev_tesla_receiver_hatch/assembler
This is the in-pack assembler recipe for the EV Tesla Receiver Hatch.
Solar power
Solar Boilers work like the normal bronze and steel boilers but burn no fuel. They need direct sunlight above them and water, and they produce half as much energy as a standard boiler of their type. Over time they calcify and lose up to 33% efficiency. Using an axe on one resets the calcification, and feeding it Distilled Water avoids it completely.[11]
Solar Panels produce energy in direct sunlight when given a photovoltaic cell of their tier. The cell erodes and eventually breaks, so you need to produce cells passively to keep power flowing during the day. Providing Distilled Water doubles a cell's lifetime.[11]
How do you progress through Extended Industrialization?
5 parts
This guide has no quest chapter to follow for this mod, so the path below is built from the in-pack recipes, grouped from the early steam machines up to the late-game gear. Many of these recipes are changed by the pack, and I'll flag each one.[12]
Steam tier
Your first step up is the Bronze Bending Machine. Upgrading it to the Steel Bending Machine is a shapeless craft with a Steel Upgrade, and you can also reverse it with an unpacker.[12]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/craft/upgrade_steel
The Bronze Solar Boiler burns no fuel. It needs sunlight directly above it and water, and it makes half as much energy as a standard boiler of its type. Over time it calcifies and loses up to 33% efficiency. Use an axe on it to reset that, or feed it Distilled Water to avoid the problem entirely. The pack changed this recipe.[11][12]

Steel and silver components
Silver is a big part of this mod's mid-game in the pack. The pack changed the bending machine recipe for the Silver Curved Plate and added three more routes to it: Create pressing, Ars Nouveau press and Mekanism compressing.[12]

Tesla and the beacon
Tesla coils and receivers move EU wirelessly, at a cost. A transmitter can only send to a receiver of the exact same voltage. You get a Tesla Coil by converting a Tesla Receiver.[12][19]

How does Extended Industrialization work with other mods?
4 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so most of its crossover with other mods is really crossover with Modern Industrialization. Machines, upgrades and fertilizer chemistry all lean on that mod's parts and fluids. On top of that, the pack has changed or added some recipes that pull in its own materials and a few other mods.[1][10][12]
Built on Modern Industrialization
The Electric Brewery is a good example. It is made from Modern Industrialization machine parts, and it has both a hand-crafting recipe and an assembler recipe.[12]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/brewery/craft/electric
Upgrades also go through Modern Industrialization. A Bronze Bending Machine becomes a Steel Bending Machine with a Steel Upgrade, either by crafting or in a packer. An unpacker can undo it. The Steel Composter uses the same packer upgrade.[12]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/craft/upgrade_steel
The Large Configurable Chest is also made in a packer, from Modern Industrialization's Configurable Chest.[12]
Packer (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/large_configurable_chest/packer
Fertilizer chemistry
The fertilizer chain runs in a chemical reactor and uses Modern Industrialization chemicals such as Sulfuric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen and Nitrogen. It ends in NPK Fertilizer. Mulch is made in a Modern Industrialization mixer.[12]
Chemical Reactor (modern_industrialization)

Fertilizing is exclusive to the electric farmer. It accepts acceptable fluid fertilizers from an input hatch, and you can check which ones in EMI.[18]

What the pack changed or added
Several recipes are marked as changed by the pack, and the in-pack versions use FTB materials such as Steel Plate, Silver Plate and Stainless Steel Plate. These include the Silk Touch Module, Looting Module, Steel Plated Bricks, Bronze Solar Boiler, Electric Beacon, Lethal Tesla Coil, Polished Silver Machine Casing, Steam Chainsaw and Netherite Rotary Blade. Extra routes added by the pack
- Silver Curved Plate can be made from a silver plate in the mod's own bending machine. The pack also adds a Create pressing recipe, an Ars press recipe and a Mekanism compressing recipe for it. The Mekanism one also needs Liquid Oxygen.[12]
- Steel Combine gets two pack-added routes: an Advanced AE reaction recipe and a Create sequenced assembly recipe. Both use Modern Industrialization soldering alloy and steel curved plates.[12]
- A silver curved plate can be macerated into Silver Dust, a pack-changed recipe.[12]

Which Extended Industrialization config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news first: for Extended Industrialization, this pack doesn't override any of the values the config files report a mod default for. Everything below is the pack's actual value, and it matches the mod's own default. So if you've played the addon elsewhere, the numbers will feel familiar.[21][22]
Processing Array
The biggest one to know is processing_array_max_size, set to 4 here. The tiers map to batch sizes: 1 is 8, 2 is 16, 3 is 32 and 4 is 64, so you get the full 64 in this pack. The Processing Array's EU cost multiplier, batching_machines.processing_array_eu, is 1. Upgrades are allowed inside it, because allow_upgrades_in_processing_array is true.[22]
Large machines
- Large Electric Macerator: max batch size batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size is 16, and the EU cost multiplier batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_eu is 0.75.[22]
- Large Steam Macerator: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_eu of 0.75.[22]
- Large Steam Furnace: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_eu of 0.75.[22]
Machine Chainer, Farmer and Tesla Coils
- machine_chainer_max_connections is 64, so a single machine chainer can have up to 64 connections.[22]
- machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier is 3. The base transfer rate is the max transfer rate of the chainer's cable tier (set by the hull), and this multiplier is applied on top. Setting it to 0 would mean infinite transfer, but the pack doesn't do that.[22]
- farmer_fertilizer_max_random_ticks is 80, the most random ticks the Farmer can apply to one crop block per use of fertilizer.[22]
- tesla_coil_range is 32 for energy transmission, while the lethal Tesla Coil's damage range, lethal_tesla_coil.range, is 2.[22]
Generated recipes
Both runtime_generated_recipes.canning_machine and runtime_generated_recipes.composter are true, so Canning Machine and Composter recipes are generated automatically at runtime.[22]
Client visuals
On the client side, render_tesla_animations is true, so Tesla animations show. tesla_animations_render_distance is 0, which means they always render no matter how far away you are. If the effects hurt your frame rate in a big base, this is the place to look.[21]
Unverified lethal_tesla_coil.damage.superconductor is set to 2,147,483,647 in this pack, but the config lists no mod default or description for it, so it's unconfirmed whether this differs from the mod's default or what exactly it controls.
What changed in Extended Industrialization between versions?
3 parts
This pack ships Extended Industrialization 1.16.2-1.21.1, and it was already in the pack by FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.0.3 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything here comes from the mod's releases.[23]
1.16.2-1.21.1 (the version in this pack)
- Tesseract API was updated to 1.12.16, which the changelog says is for config caching.[24]
1.15.46-1.21.1
- Fixed a crash that could sometimes happen when you had more than one Tesla handheld receiver and dropped one of them.[25]
- Fixed the EMI repository.[25]
- The mod swapped to Deploy-Inator. The changelog gives no further detail on this.[25]
1.15.45-1.21.1
- Fixed the farmer harvesting blocks in the ground when they were grown outside the farmer's ring.[26]
The changelogs available here only cover the releases listed above, so anything between or before them isn't covered.[24][25][26]
